Chapter 8: Ali's Return
Littlefoot and Cera climbed up a very high hill. Cera told Littlefoot that she knew a shortcut through some parts of the Valley. Littlefoot then walked through some bushes but some branches held him back. He tried to push through some vines while grunting. Cera then decided to give Littlefoot a little push. She got ready and then rammed into Littlefoot. They both got through the bushes but they didn't know that behind the bushes, there was a steep slope. They screamed as they slid down the hill pretty fast. Some more bushes came into view. Both dino kids yelped. They rammed right through the bushes. Both kids got covered in leaves. Littlefoot had a leaf beard while Cera had a leaf moustache. They both looked at each other and then looked down the slope. They finally hit the bottom with a loud THUD. Both kids groaned. They were covered in leaves. They got up and shook off the leaves.
Littlefoot let out a laugh. "That's some shortcut."
Cera shrugged. "Yeah, I guess so."
They saw Sonic zoom over to them. Sonic then smiled.
"Hey guys" said Sonic.
"Hi Sonic" said Littlefoot. Sonic then saw the leaf mess around them.
"So what were you guys doing?" asked Sonic. Cera then explained that she found a shortcut through some bushes that led a faster way around the Valley.
"Yeah, we kinda ran into some bushes" added Littlefoot. Sonic then had a smile.
"A faster way huh? I wanna see it" said Sonic. Both dino kids raised an eyebrow. Sonic then zoomed up the steep hill. Both kids watched Sonic go up the hill. He vanished from their sight after going past some bushes. Both kids looked at each other in confusion and then looked back up the hill. After a few seconds, they heard Sonic yell out, "Yahoo!" They watched Sonic slide down the hill with his feet. He made sure not to hit any bushes or trees. It was like he was hill surfing. He then jumped and landed by the kids like it was no problem. He then dusted off his hands and then put his fists on his hips.
"Well, that was a fun shortcut" said Sonic.
Littlefoot then smiled. "Wow, you're good at sliding down hills than me and Cera."
Sonic shrugged. Cera rolled her eyes with a hmph. Something then caught Cera's attention. She saw something in a grass meadow.
"Hey, look" said Cera. Sonic and Littlefoot followed Cera's gaze. They saw a large Longneck herd walking nearby. The herd looked familiar.
"I think we know that herd" said Sonic.
Littlefoot smiled. "You're right."
They saw a purple young Longneck walking with the herd. They knew who it was.
"It's Ali!" exclaimed Littlefoot.
"Looks like your cousins have come back" added Sonic.
"Let's go see them" said Littlefoot. Sonic and Cera nodded. They walked over to the Longneck cousins. The Old One met up with the other dino parents. The Old One talked about their journeys. Sonic, Littlefoot, and Cera met up with Ali.
"Ali!" exclaimed Littlefoot and Cera.
"Hey Ali!" exclaimed Sonic.
"Littlefoot! Cera! Sonic!" exclaimed Ali.
"Ali, I'm glad you're back. I missed you so much" Littlefoot said with a smile.
"I missed you too" said Cera.
Sonic nodded. "We all did."
Ali nodded. "It's been awhile."
Ali then hugged Sonic and then the others.
"So, how've you been?" asked Littlefoot.
"I'm okay. Me and my herd traveled far for a long time. And then I remembered that we missed everyone here in the Great Valley. So, we decided to come back" said Ali.
Littlefoot smiled. "That's great. You wanna play Tag? Swimmer Splasher? The Pointy Seed game?"
"You name it, we'll play it" said Cera. Sonic nodded in reply.
Ali then thought for a moment. She then had a skeptical expression. The others raised an eyebrow.
"Something on your mind Ali?" said Sonic.
"Well, actually. I have a new friend I play with" said Ali.
"That's ok. He can come too" said Littlefoot.
"Uh, I don't think Rhett will want to" said Ali.
"Huh?" said Littlefoot.
"Rhett? Who's Rhett?" asked Sonic. Sonic and the 3 kids saw another young Longneck run to them. He was dark brown colored. He stopped running in front of Ali.
"I'm Rhett" Rhett said with a hint of pride.
Sonic and the others raised an eyebrow. Cera then hmphed.
"Well, I'm Cera and this is Sonic and Littlefoot. We're Ali's old friends" said Cera.
Sonic nodded. "Uh huh."
Rhett then looked at Sonic and then back at Ali. He remembered what Ali told him about her adventure with Sonic.
"So, this is the Wind Runner you told me about?" said Rhett.
Ali nodded. "He's very brave like you."
Rhett then examined Sonic for a few moments. Rhett then hmphed.
"Well, he doesn't look brave to me" said Rhett. He then looked away while looking stoic like.
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "What?"
Ali then explained. "Well, Rhett is brave and heroic. But he won't play with others he doesn't know."
"Well, that doesn't sound brave" said Littlefoot. Rhett then raised both eyebrows. He turned around and then frowned at Littlefoot.
"Oh, yeah Little Neck?" said Rhett.
Littlefoot then frowned back. "My name is Little Foot."
"Well, I'm called Rhett the Brave. Hero of the herd. Scarer of the Sharpteeth" Rhett said with pride.
"Called brave by who I wonder" Sonic thought with a raised eyebrow.
"Hero of the herd?" said Littlefoot.
Cera let out a small chuckle. "Scarer of the Sharpteeth?"
Rhett then frowned at Cera. Littlefoot then said that the Sharpteeth they've seen aren't afraid of meteors, quakes, or volcanoes.
"Let alone little Longnecks" Cera added with a small grin.
"Well they're scared of me" Rhett said with pride.
Sonic rolled his eyes with a small grin. "It looks like we got another stuck up like Cera" thought Sonic.
"Tell them all about your adventures Rhett" Ali said with a smile.
"Well, while you guys were living here safe all the time" Rhett explained. "I'VE been in the Mysterious Beyond protecting my herd."
Sonic raised an eyebrow while crossing his arms. Rhett then explained a few times of how he stopped a couple of Sharpteeth by throwing rocks at them, knocking down trees to block their path, and building a mountain of rocks that the Sharpteeth couldn't climb. Ali smiled at the stories but Sonic and the 2 kids were pretty skeptical.
"And you haven't heard anything yet" Rhett said with a proud grin.
Sonic frowned. "I think we've heard enough."
Littlefoot nodded. "We've heard plenty."
Cera frowned. "Yeah. So, Ali. Were you with Rhett when any of this stuff happened?"
Ali thought for a moment. "Um, no. That happened before our herds joined up."
"And you really believe that he built a mountain of rocks with his tail?" asked Littlefoot.
"While being chased by Sharpteeth?" added Cera. Ali then looked at Rhett. Rhett looked a little nervous.
"Well, that mountain of rocks was mostly built but I did finish the top" answered Rhett.
Ali then smiled. "See? He finished the top."
"Of a mountain? That's pretty hard to believe" said Littlefoot.
"And I don't think he's strong enough to knock down large trees" added Sonic.
Cera then smiled. "Yeah, Sonic here can knock down lots of trees. He's also fought lots of Sharpteeth and another bad guy named Eggman."
Sonic then smiled with pride. Rhett then snickered. Sonic and the 2 kids raised both eyebrows and then frowned at Rhett.
"Eggman? That's the silliest name I've ever heard" said Rhett. It looks like Ali didn't mention to Rhett about Eggman attacking the group back in the Land of Mists.
"It's true. Eggman is Sonic's enemy and he's very dangerous" said Littlefoot.
Rhett then scoffed. "It sounds made up to me."
"But it's really true. (Looks at Ali) Tell him Ali. You've seen how dangerous Eggman is" said Littlefoot.
Ali raised both eyebrows. "Well, Eggman was dangerous. (Rhett raised an eyebrow) But I think Rhett has faced more dangers than him. (Rhett smiles)"
Cera then frowned. "What? You believe what Rhett's telling you?"
Ali then frowned. "You're just mad because you can't knock down trees with your tail."
Sonic and the 2 kids raised both eyebrows. Rhett then grinned with pride. Ali truly believes that Rhett is a hero. But Sonic and the 2 kids knew otherwise. This little Longneck may not be who he claims to be. Sonic then smiled as he thought of an idea to convince Ali that Rhett was making it all up.
"Well, if he really did knock down those trees, then he can prove it to us" said Sonic. Littlefoot and Cera then smiled as well.
"Yeah, let's see how strong Rhett really is" said Cera. Rhett then raised both eyebrows. Ali then looked at Rhett with a smile.
"Uh huh. Knock down a tree. Prove to them that you're really a hero, Rhett" said Ali. Rhett then felt nervous again.
"Well, I... um" Rhett said.
Sonic crossed his arms while grinning. "We're waiting Rhett."
Cera grinned slyly and Littlefoot also had a grin.
Rhett then frowned. "Alright. I WILL prove it."
The little Longneck then walked over to some little trees nearby. He got ready to use his tail on a small tree but Sonic stopped him.
"No, not that tree. (Points to a big tree with his thumb) THAT tree" said Sonic. The kids followed Sonic's thumb to a large and tall tree. Rhett felt really nervous now. Rhett examined the tree.
"Uh...well. I... can't show you right now" said Rhett.
Sonic still grinned. "And why not? What if your stories are made up?"
Rhett then frowned at Sonic. He was not liking this Wind Runner.
Ali then defended Rhett. "That's not true. Rhett IS a hero."
Rhett then grinned with pride. "Yeah, and I don't have to show how brave I am to a weird looking Runner."
Sonic raised both eyebrows and then frowned at Rhett. Rhett then hmphed. Sonic and the 2 kids then looked at Ali. Ali then looked away with a hmph. Ali still believed in Rhett. Littlefoot and Cera frowned at Ali. Littlefoot then turned to walk away.
"Come on guys. I guess we're just not brave enough to play with Ali anymore" said Littlefoot. Littlefoot walked away. Ali raised both eyebrows and then looked back at the others. Cera hmphed and walked away. Sonic then frowned at Rhett.
"(Hmph) I think we'll find out who the brave one is really soon" said Sonic. He then turned and followed the 2 kids. Ali looked a little upset.
"Hey, don't worry about them. Wanna play Rescue?" said Rhett.
Ali sighed. "Okay."
Sonic caught up to Cera and Littlefoot by parts of the woods. They were very upset. They looked at the ground in frustration. They then turned around to look back at Ali and Rhett.
"I can't believe that Ali believes those crazy stories" Littlefoot said with a hint of anger.
"Yeah, she really thinks he's some hero" added Sonic.
"And she trusts him more than us, her own friends" Cera said with frustration. "All of his stories are phony."
Sonic put his fists on his hips with a little smile. "I bet that if Rhett saw a real Sharptooth, he would turn tail and run."
Cera agreed. "Yeah, Rhett's not a hero at all.
Littlefoot then looked at his friends. "We have to try to convince Ali that Rhett's making up his stories."
Sonic nodded. "We need to think of a plan. Let's go get the others."
Littlefoot and Cera nodded. They ran to find their other friends. They all gathered together and Cera told the others about Rhett, and his silly stories.
"...And then he said that he built a mountain with his tail" said Cera.
Petrie was actually astonished. "Ooh! Rhett brave and strong. Me want to meet him."
Sonic shook his head. "No, Petrie. No little Longneck is THAT strong enough to build a mountain of rocks."
"I bet Knuckles could though" said Cera. Sonic nodded with a smile.
Petrie felt surprised. "So, Rhett not brave and strong?"
Littlefoot shook his head. "No, Petrie. He's not. He made up those stories and has convinced Ali that he's telling the truth."
Cera had a very upset frown. "It makes me so mad that Ali believes that silly Longneck."
Littlefoot had the same frown. "I'm angry too."
Littlefoot then kicked some little rocks aside with one front foot. The other kids felt concerned.
"Well, the longer you're mad, the less you're happy" stated Ruby. Littlefoot and Cera knew Ruby had a point.
Petrie shrugged. "So, what we do?"
"I don't know but we gotta show Ali the truth" said Littlefoot.
"Yeah" agreed Cera. The group thought for a moment. Sonic then thought of something.
"I've got an idea" said Sonic. They didn't' know that Ichy was eavesdropping again on a nearby tree.
"What is it Sonic?" said Littlefoot.
"We can have Rhett face a real Sharptooth" said Sonic. The others felt nervous.
Littlefoot raised both eyebrows. "You wanna bring a real Sharptooth into the Great Valley?"
"I don't know if that plan's such a good plan" said Ruby.
Sonic smiled. "Actually, there's one already here."
Cera then smiled too. "Hey, you're right."
Petrie then felt fearful. "There's a Sharptooth in Great Valley? (Covers head in fear.)"
Cera nodded. "Yep. And he's right here. (Looks at Chomper.)"
Petrie looked around while shaking. "Uh, where?"
Sonic then looked at Petrie. "Petrie, we meant Chomper."
Petrie then felt relieved. "Oh. Right."
"So, you want me to scare Rhett?" asked Chomper.
Sonic nodded. "Yep."
Ruby then smiled. "This could actually work."
Ducky then came in. "But Chomper's nice. He is, he is."
"WE know Chomper's nice. But you don't that until you know him" said Ruby.
"And Ali and Rhett have never met Chomper" added Littlefoot.
Sonic nodded. "And we can use that to our advantage, to help Ali see the truth."
Cera nodded. "Right."
Cera then explained a plan she thought of: Chomper will chase some of the kids, pretending to be a terrible Sharptooth. The others will pretend to be very scared and run. Rhett and Ali see the others running away. Sonic and Littlefoot meet up with Rhett to tell him to help save the others. Rhett will see Chomper and run away in fear, proving that Rhett is not a brave hero after all.
"See? If we all pretend right, it'll work" said Cera.
"I can pretend to scareded. Yep, yep, yep" said Ducky.
"Oh, me good at being scared" Petrie said with a little fear.
"I hope nobody will get hurt" said Littlefoot.
Cera rolled her eyes. "Oh, come on Littlefoot. What could possibly go wrong? Besides, nobody will get hurt since we're pretending."
Littlefoot sighed. "Well, alright. I hope it works."
Sonic smiled. "I'm eager to see how Rhett will react."
Cera also smiled. "Me too."
Chomper then smiled. "It looks like I'm having friends for dinner."
The group then laughed. Cera then said that they need to practice. The others agreed. They practiced near some tall grass. Chomper ran around growling in a silly way. The other kids laughed.
Cera frowned. "You guys are supposed to be scared. (Looks at Chomper) And YOU'RE supposed to be scary."
Chomper then made more silly growls. The other kids laughed again. Even Chomper joined in.
Sonic then came in. "Guys, we gotta make this look real enough or Ali and Rhett will know."
Cera nodded. "Exactly. Now let's start again."
The other kids acted scared. Chomper came out growling. Cera then told Sonic and Littlefoot to rush over. Sonic zoomed over in no time. Littlefoot then ran in but he tripped on a rock. He started to slide to the others because he was on a small hill. Cera and Sonic raised both eyebrows. Cera and Sonic quickly sidestepped and Littlefoot crashed into the others. The others groaned a little. Sonic shook his head.
Cera sighed with a frown. "Let's try it ONE. More. Time."
The group tried again. The kids ran scared and Chomper came out baring his teeth. Littlefoot and Sonic rushed over, pretending to ask for help. Cera nodded. The acting out worked better.
Cera smiled. "Perfect. Now, let's go."
Littlefoot nodded. "Time to show Ali who Rhett really is."
Sonic nodded as well. "Uh huh."
Though, they didn't know that Ichy flew back to base. Eggman thought of another evil plan. Back in the Valley, Rhett played with Ali some more.
"Come on. Let's play Rescue" said Rhett.
Ali groaned. "Again? Could we play Tag instead? Or the Pointy Seed game?"
Rhett rolled his eyes and didn't listen. "Rescue it is. Start yelling for help."
Ali sighed and hung her head low. She didn't want to upset her friend so she gave in. She opened her mouth to yell but stopped when she heard someone yell, "Aaaah!"
Ali gasped. Rhett felt confused at the sound. "You sound different" said Rhett.
"That wasn't me. That was someone who really needs help" Ali said with a serious expression.
"What? Who?" said Rhett. Ali and Rhett then saw Cera and Petrie run past some bushes.
"Help!" exclaimed Cera.
"Aah! He hungry! Me scared!" exclaimed Petrie.
Ducky then ran past some bushes. "And I'm even more scareded."
Ruby then ran in. "We need help to be saved."
Spike then ran while mumbling in fake fear. Ali and Rhett felt afraid.
"Who's chasing you?" said Ali.
"Who's hungry?" said Rhett. Cera and some of the kids ran behind Rhett.
"He is!" Cera exclaimed with fake fear. The kids heard loud growls coming from the bushes. Chomper then jumped out while growling and baring his sharp teeth. Rhett and Ali felt really afraid.
"A Sharptooth! What are you waiting for Rhett?! Save us!" exclaimed Ali. Rhett then shook with great fear. Sonic and Littlefoot then rushed in and stopped by Rhett.
"Rhett, we gotta save everyone!" exclaimed Littlefoot.
"Yeah, come on Rhett. Let's show that Sharptooth who's boss" added Sonic.
"Uh... um" Rhett stuttered in fear. Chomper walked towards Rhett, growling loud.
Rhett yelped and looked at Sonic. "Y-Y-You save them Sonic! I'm outta here!"
Rhett then ran away while screaming. Everyone except Ali then laughed.
"Man, that was fun!" laughed Sonic.
Cera laughed. "Yeah, did you see the look on his face? (Pretends to be like Rhett.)"
The group laughed again. Ali then felt confused.
"What's going on?" asked Ali. The group then calmed down.
"We wanted to show you that Rhett wasn't as brave as he said he was, so I came up with a plan" said Cera.
"But that Sharptooth. Where did he come from?" said Ali.
"Ali, meet our good friend Chomper" Sonic said as he gestured to Chomper.
Chomper waved with his small hand. "Hi Ali. Sorry if I scared you."
Ali felt really surprised. "You're friends with a Sharptooth?"
Sonic nodded. "Yep, but Chomper's a friendly Sharptooth. He won't hurt anyone."
Ducky then came in. "Chomper and Ruby live in the secret caverns."
"It's kind of a long story" added Chomper.
"One thing's for sure. We're not afraid to play with Chomper" said Cera. Chomper smiled in reply.
Ali then smiled. "I guess it's nice to meet a friendly Sharptooth. (Sigh) Rhett really did make up his stories. He wasn't so brave after all. So, I'm sorry for not believing you guys."
Sonic waved it off. "Nah, it was no trouble."
Littlefoot then said that Ali can play with them now. Ali nodded in agreement. Cera then thought for a moment.
"So, where did Rhett go anyways?" asked Cera. Sonic then thought for a moment. After a few moments, the group heard loud footsteps. The group then saw the Longneck cousins walking to them, with Rhett right beside them. Sonic now realized that Rhett not only ran away in fear, but also told his Longneck family about Chomper. Chomper felt really nervous, so did the other kids.
"T-T-There he is" Rhett stuttered from behind an adult Longneck. The Old One glared at Chomper. Chomper shook with fear. Sonic knew what was about to happen next.
"We must drive that vicious Sharptooth out of the Great Valley!" exclaimed Old One. Chomper moaned in fear. The other kids felt worried.
Sonic raised both eyebrows. "Uh oh. Not good" thought Sonic.
"Get him!" yelled Old One. Chomper yelled in fear. He turned around and ran. The Longneck herd then chased the little Sharptooth. The group had determined expressions.
"We gotta save Chomper" stated Littlefoot. Sonic nodded in reply.
"But we cannot stop that herd. Oh, no, no, no" said Ducky.
"We gotta try" said Littlefoot.
Sonic then had a brave expression. "I'll rush ahead to help Chomper. You guys catch up however you can."
The kids nodded. Littlefoot then told Petrie to fly up to see where the herd is going. Sonic then zoomed off after Chomper. Chomper ran as fast as he could, but the herd was catching up fast. Chomper then saw a very large tree that was down. Chomper then ran under it since it was a little off the ground. 3 Longnecks couldn't get past the tree blocking their path.
"He's getting away!" exclaimed a Longneck. Chomper then smiled as he managed to lose some part of the herd. But suddenly, 3 more Longnecks appeared from behind some tall trees ahead. Chomper yelped in fear. The 3 Longnecks growled as they ran towards him. Chomper then ran another away and slid down a large hill nearby. The 3 Longnecks skidded to a halt. They watched Chomper slide away. Chomper sighed with relief as he enjoyed the way down. He finally hit the bottom, only to be caught by more of the Longneck herd. Chomper gasped.
"We got you now" stated a Longneck. Chomper shook in fear. He ran into some woods nearby. But suddenly, 2 Longnecks cut off his path. Chomper gasped. He looked in all directions. He was trapped. Suddenly, a blue wind came in and grabbed Chomper. The Longnecks saw Sonic take Chomper away.
"What's Sonic doing? Why is he helping that Sharptooth?" asked a Longneck. The Old One then said to follow Sonic. Sonic carried Chomper close to the Great Stone Wall. Petrie then flew by and saw the herd chasing Sonic, though the herd couldn't catch up to Sonic. Petrie then told the others that the herd was running towards the Great Stone Wall. The other kids nodded and ran as fast as they could. Sonic then stopped by the high cliffs and put down Chomper. After a few moments, the herd then found Sonic by the Stone Wall. They all ran and stopped by Sonic. The herd frowned at Sonic. They all growled at Chomper.
Sonic put up both hands. "Wait a moment!"
The Old One frowned at Sonic. "Sonic, you have some explaining to do. Why are you helping this Sharptooth?"
Before Sonic could answer, Chomper spoke first. "Please, don't hurt me" said Chomper.
The herd was very surprised. This little Sharptooth understood the Leaf Eater language.
"A talking Sharptooth?" Old One said with surprise. The other Longnecks mumbled among themselves of how it could be true.
"Oh, who cares if he talks? He's a Sharptooth. Let's get rid of him" said another Longneck. Chomper gasped.
"I suppose we must. Step aside Sonic" said Old One.
"Wait! Chomper's not your enemy" said Sonic. The Longneck herd looked confused.
"What are you saying?" asked Old One.
"Chomper's a nice Sharptooth" said Sonic. The herd then heard the other kids calling the Old One. The kids then finally caught up to the herd. They all were almost out of breath. The kids ran to Sonic's side.
"Chomper's our friend. He lives here" said Littlefoot.
"And he would never hurt any of us" added Cera. Rhett then peeked out from behind a Longneck.
"But, but he was chasing you guys. You were calling for help" said Rhett.
Ali then came in. "They wanted to show me that all of Rhett's stories were made up."
Old One raised an eyebrow. "Stories? What stories?"
"He kept telling me that he saved his herd from many Sharpteeth before we met them" said Ali.
The Old One looked back at Rhett. Rhett felt really nervous.
"Rhett, come forward" said Old One. Rhett walked to the Old One with a fearful expression.
"Um... yes?" Rhett said while feeling nervous.
"Did you make up stories to fool Sonic and these children?" said Old One.
Rhett gulped and shook a little. "Uh... um."
Ali then walked to Rhett. "It's ok Rhett."
Rhett sighed. "Yes, I did. I'm sorry."
The Old One shook her head. "You should know better than to make up silly stories Rhett."
Rhett hung his head low in shame. The Old One looked at the Sonic and the others.
"You may all wanted this to be a joke but a Sharptooth attack is no laughing matter" Old One said with a serious expression. The kids felt a little sad.
"We know. And we're really sorry" said Littlefoot. The other kids nodded.
"We had to show Ali the truth somehow" said Sonic. The Old One accepted their apology. The Old One then looked at Chomper. Chomper felt nervous again.
"And as for you, I don't know how you became friends with so many here in the Valley, (Smiles) but I think it's good" said Old One. Chomper then smiled and relaxed. The other kids also smiled.
Sonic then smiled. "Well, that's the first wise thing I've heard from her in a while" thought Sonic.
Suddenly, everyone heard a big roar. The group saw the Gigasaur and 3 Robo raptors appear. Eggman appeared and laughed wickedly on his hover ride. The Longneck herd felt surprised at seeing robotic Sharpteeth. Sonic glared at Eggman while the kids felt afraid, especially Rhett.
"Who, who's that!?" exclaimed Rhett.
"That's Eggman. He's smart and very dangerous. He's from the same place as Sonic" Ali said with a serious expression.
Rhett raised both eyebrows. "Why didn't you tell me about him?"
Sonic and Littlefoot then frowned at Rhett. Rhett looked confused and replied, "What?"
Sonic and Littlefoot shook their heads. Rhett didn't pay attention earlier.
Eggman laughed again. "Greetings everyone. I heard you all wanted to see a Sharptooth, so I brought you a Sharptooth. A really big one too."
The kids felt really afraid of the mean red-eyed Sharpteeth. Eggman then pressed a button and a robotic T-Rex appeared beside the Gigasaur.
"And I brought his friends over too. (Points at the group) Attack!" said Eggman. The robotic Sharpteeth all roared and bared their teeth. The mean predators got ready to attack. The Old One glared at the metal predators.
"Longnecks! Defend the children!" yelled Old One. The Longneck herd charged at the metal Sharpteeth. The robo raptors then used their jet boosters and flew over the Longnecks. They landed beside Sonic and the kids. The Longneck had to stay focused on the large Sharpteeth. The kids had fearful expressions. Sonic, however, stood his ground. The raptors charged at the group. Sonic zoomed to fight. He punched and kicked the raptors a few times. The raptors got knocked down. But they got back up with a growl. Their claws then extended long. Rhett and Ali felt afraid at seeing how sharp the claws were. The raptors tried slashing at Sonic, but the Blue Runner dodged with ease. Ali smiled at seeing Sonic's speed but Rhett was really astonished. It was the first time Rhett ever saw Sonic in action. Sonic then dodged the laser eye attacks from the raptors. Sonic then smiled as he thought of another way to fight back. He turned around and did his spin dash. He spin dashed so fast that he started throwing a whole bunch of pebbles and dirt at the raptors. The raptors had to cover their heads as they got hit by a lot of dirt and small rocks. Sonic then stopped and faced the raptors. He then spin dashed again while gathering energy. The raptors were covered in dirt, grass, and some pebbles. They were a bit dazed by Sonic's dirt idea. The raptors then shook off the dirt and grass. They then snarled at Sonic. Sonic continued his spin dash. Rhett and Ali wondered what Sonic was doing but the other kids knew. The other kids smiled at what Sonic had planned next. The raptors then charged at Sonic. Sonic then burst forward at great speed. He hit the raptors with powerful Homing Attacks. The raptors got knocked down hard. They tried to get back up but they couldn't. They were really beat from Sonic's speed. Sonic then hmphed and put his fists on his hips. The kids smiled at Sonic.
"Way to go Sonic!" exclaimed Littlefoot.
"You never stop surprising us Sonic" said Ruby.
"He never stops. Oh, no, no, no" said Ducky. Spike nodded.
"Sonic's a hero" added Ali.
Rhett nodded. "He really is."
Sonic nodded. "Thanks guys."
Meanwhile, the Longneck herd managed to take down the large Sharpteeth without trouble. Though, some Longnecks did get hurt but nothing serious. Both the Gigasaur and the T-Rex were knocked down. Eggman saw that his plan failed again. Eggman then pounded his ride in anger.
"Blast you Longnecks! Blast you Sonic!" yelled Eggman. The mean scientists then called his army to follow. The metal Sharpteeth ran away with Eggman. The mean doctor flied back to his base. The Longnecks growled at the Sharpteeth as they ran. The Old One then hmphed. Sonic then had to explain about Eggman and the metal Sharpteeth since the cousins never met Eggman. The Longneck were quite astonished about how Sonic had to fight Eggman many times. The Old One then smiled at Sonic.
"Well, I'm glad that you decided to protect the children, even though you're not from the Great Valley. It's good to know that the Valley has a great protector like you" said Old One.
Sonic smiled and nodded. "Thanks. And thanks for helping out"
The Old One nodded. The Old One and the herd walked back to the main part of the Valley. The kids were happy that they were safe once again. They now wanted to have some fun. Sonic then saw Rhett walk away. Rhett looked really upset. Littlefoot noticed as well. Sonic and Littlefoot walked over to Rhett.
"Hey Rhett. You okay?" said Sonic.
"You wanna play Tag?" asked Littlefoot.
Rhett still felt upset. "But I don't think you guys trust me. I'm not brave because I made up all my adventures."
Sonic then smiled. "Hey, it's no big deal. True, you made up your stories but it doesn't mean we can't be friends."
"And we can always have new adventures" added Littlefoot. Rhett started to cheer up.
"And if you really want to be brave, don't make fake stories. And stand up for what's right" said Sonic.
"So, what do you say Rhett? You wanna play Tag?" said Ali. The others then smiled.
Rhett then smiled too. "Oh, you guys are the best!"
Sonic nodded. "You bet we are!"
Littlefoot then looked at Spike. "Spike, you're it!"
Spike laughed and nodded. The others laughed too. Sonic was about to zoom off but Littlefoot stopped him.
"And remember Sonic, no fast running" said Littlefoot. Sonic then raised both eyebrows as he remembered that the kids made a rule that Sonic can't use his fast speed when they play.
Sonic sighed. "Oh, okay."
The group laughed again and Sonic joined in. They all ran as Spike chased them. They all had fun.
