Chapter 17: Sun Celebration
Petrie was leading the others through some tall grass. The little Flyer was very excited about something.
"Hurry, today the day! It finally here!" exclaimed Petrie. The little Flyer then flew ahead. The others followed.
"Why is Petrie so excited?" asked Cera.
"It must be a special day. I guess we'll find out" replied Sonic.
"I wonder what kind of special day" added Chomper. The group saw Petrie fly pretty far. Suddenly, Petrie screamed. The group gasped. They heard Petrie yell, "No!"
The group took off running and followed Petrie's screams.
"Hang on Petrie!" yelled Sonic.
"We're coming!" yelled Littlefoot. The group then found Petrie in a grassy place by a small river.
"Oh, no" said Petrie. The others walked over to Petrie.
"Petrie, you okay?" asked Littlefoot. Petrie looked at Littlefoot.
"No, this place a mess" Petrie said as he gestured the area. The group saw that a big old tree was knocked over and brown leaves were everywhere. The tree mess covered most of the grassy area.
Cera then had a bored expression. "So? What's the big deal?"
Petrie then looked at Cera. "You not remember? Today Bright Circle Celebration."
All the others except Sonic and Cera gasped in excitement. Cera now felt really bored but Sonic felt curious.
Cera rolled her eyes. "Oh. THAT celebration. Is it that time again?"
Petrie nodded. "Best time ever."
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know you guys had a celebration of the sun. But it's nice."
The kids then remembered that from Sonic's world, the Sun was another name for the Bright Circle and Moon was another name for the Night Circle.
Petrie then nodded. "Yep, we gather to celebrate Bright Circle for shining so bright."
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "So, what do you guys do for the Bright Circle?"
Ruby then came in. "I don't know if I really know about the Bright Circle Celebration."
"I don't know much about it either" added Chomper.
Petrie raised both eyebrows. "You guys no know?"
Ruby and Chomper shook their heads. But before Petrie could answer, Cera came in.
"I'll tell you guys everything you need to KNOW" said Cera. "(Everyone looks at Cera) Go back to your sleeping spots before Petrie makes you guys work all day."
Sonic raised an eyebrow. "Well, what's wrong with a little work? It's okay to keep your body moving. You can't just sleep all day."
Cera rolled her eyes, but Petrie smiled at what Sonic said.
"Must work. Bright Circle need wonderfullest celebration so it stay shiny more longer" said Petrie. Sonic chuckled lightly as he knows that the sun doesn't really have a mind of its own.
"Big celebration need big space all clean" Petrie said as he looked at the big fallen tree.
Ruby then thought of something. "Is there more to the celebration than clearing the clearing?"
Littlefoot then came in with a nod. "Oh, yeah. We gather some good cold time foods for a feast."
Spike nodded in agreement. Ducky then came in.
"It is much work but it is worth it. Oh, yes, yes, yes" added Ducky.
"Also, everyone think what they learn from last cold time" added Petrie. Sonic then remembered that 'cold times' mean 'years' for the dinosaurs.
Sonic then came in. "I get it. You guys then remember some things you're thankful for."
Petrie nodded. "And me remember this from last cold time."
The little Flyer then flew upwards and around his friends. He was showing everyone how he learned to fly so well. The others smiled. The little Flyer then landed.
Sonic then chuckled lightly cause he thought of something from the dino kids' very first adventure. "Funny, it was the hot breath of a T-Rex that helped him gain the courage to fly" thought Sonic.
Chomper then thought of something. He showed everyone that he learned to hop like a Hopper. The little Sharptooth felt happy. Cera just rolled her eyes. Petrie laughed lightly.
"We all have great biggie fun later, but we make place ready first" said Petrie.
"I think I'm going to like this Bright Circle Celebration" Chomper said with a smile. Spike nodded. The others agreed. Except Cera. Cera just yawned.
"Well, you guys can waste your time on this silly celebration, but I'M going back to my nice warm spot" said Cera. The bored little Three-Horn started to walk away from the group. Petrie then explained that if they clear up the mess and make the sun happy, it stays bright longer. Sonic simply shook his head with a small smile. Sonic knows that the sun isn't like that and it's the seasons that change the weather. They were also in the Fall season. However, the group didn't know that Ichy was spying on the group again. The evil genius was listening closely. The kids started to push the tree but couldn't move it. Cera then sighed and walked back to help. But even with Cera's help the tree was still pretty heavy.
Sonic then thought of something. "Hey, I got an idea. Stand back."
The kids nodded and stepped back a little. Sonic then used his spin dash and started to cut the tree. Sonic then span harder and cut the tree in half. The kids had to stay back cause of all the sawdust flying. Sonic then finished in no time. All the kids except Cera felt happy.
"There. Now, it will be a bit easier" said Sonic.
"Thanks Sonic. This make Bright Circle really happy when it see celebration" said Petrie.
Chomper then thought of what Petrie said. "So, the Bright Circle is watching us?"
"Oh, yes. Always watching" said Petrie.
Cera rolled her eyes. "That isn't true. It's just a story. (Looks at Littlefoot) Right Littlefoot?"
"Well, I don't know. I just think it's fun to celebrate something you're thankful for" said Littlefoot.
Sonic then came in. "I agree with Cera on this. I don't think the Bright Circle is alive, but we do need to be thankful for the Bright Circle. Without it, it would be night all the time and trees won't grow."
All the kids except Cera smiled at what Sonic said. Though Petrie still believes that the sun is watching.
"Well, it may be fun for some but to me, it's just a lot of work for no reason" said Cera. The group then pushed each half of the tree into a nearby river. The clearing looked much better. The group then saw Mr. Thicknose coming over.
"Glad to see you guys are getting an early start" said Thicknose. "There's a lot of work to do today."
"Maybe for some of us" groaned Cera.
"It sure is a beautiful day for a celebration, isn't it?" Thicknose said as he looked at the group. The others except Cera nodded and said the same. Cera then hmphed. Thicknose looked at Cera.
"Something wrong Cera?" asked Thicknose.
"I don't understand how you and Sonic could care about the Bright Circle" said Cera.
"Well, there's nothing wrong with being thankful Cera" said Thicknose.
Petrie then came in. "Me very thankful."
"And I agree with Mr. Thicknose. It's a very good idea to be thankful, even if it's just a small thing" added Sonic.
Cera frowned. "Well, I'M thankful that I'm done pushing that silly tree."
Sonic rolled his eyes and shook his head. Ruby then thought about what she learned from the last cold time.
Ducky then thought of something. "Oh, I know what I've learneded. Yes, yes, yes."
The little Swimmer then dove into the river. She started to swim deeper. The others believed that she was swimming very deep as they looked at the river.
"She's going awfully deep. She must be gathering green food underwater" said Littlefoot. Spike then put his head underwater to see how far Ducky swam.
"There's green food underwater?" asked Chomper. Littlefoot then looked at Chomper.
"Yeah, but you have to hold your breath a long time to get it" said Littlefoot. Spike then pulled his head out of the water. The group then saw bubbles on the surface. Within a few seconds, Ducky gasped as she popped out of the water, holding some plants in both hands. The others except Cera cheered Ducky.
Ducky smiled. "I practiceded very much since last cold time. I did, I did."
"That's very impressive Ducky" said Littlefoot. Cera and Spike drank some water.
"You did a good job" added Sonic. Cera then lifted her head and hmphed.
"Well, I bet I've learned more than all of you" said Cera.
Sonic rolled his eyes with a grin. "Sure you have."
"What did you learn Cera?" asked Chomper.
"Well, I... uh..." started Cera. The prideful Three-Horn couldn't think of something that she learned better than everyone else.
"Tell us Cera. (Looks at the sun while shielding his eyes with his wing) Tell Bright Circle too" said Petrie.
Cera then frowned as she was already tired of this preposterous celebration. "Oh, forget it."
Sonic shook his head. "Not surprising" thought Sonic.
"Forget what Cera?" said Chomper. Cera started to walk away.
"Forget everything. I'm so sick of hearing about the Bright Circle" said Cera.
"Why? Do you not like the Bright Circle?" asked Ducky.
"I like it fine. I just don't think that we need a whole celebration to thank it for being there" said Cera. "(Scoffs) What's next? Am I supposed to thank the rocks and trees for being here too?"
Cera then smacked a little rock into the river. Ducky then came in.
"Well, if you want to. Yes, yes, yes" said Ducky.
"Well, I don't want to. The Bright Circle is just a ball in the sky that's going to come and go, and make warm times just like always" said Cera. "It doesn't need a celebration."
Sonic then came in. "Well, again Cera. Without the Bright Circle, your world wouldn't have any light or life."
Littlefoot then came in. "And I think everyone can make up their own minds about the Bright Circle and the celebration."
Cera then hmphed with a frown. "I still think this celebration is crazy! But if you guys want to waste your day on this, then go ahead. But I'm NOT helping and I'm NOT celebrating!"
The stubborn Three-Horn then walked away. The group then watched her walk away. The other kids felt a little upset. Sonic then shook his head and tried to cheer up the others.
"Oh, don't worry about Cera. If she doesn't want to, then let's leave her be" said Sonic. "And who knows? Maybe she'll change her mind later."
The others started to cheer up. Littlefoot then looked at Sonic.
"Yeah, maybe she'll want to celebrate later" said Littlefoot. The others agreed. The group then started to get ready for the celebration. Sonic then saw some meteors flying through the sky. The Blue Runner smiled lightly. He then remembered about the Rainbow Faces. He wondered what they were doing now. The group still didn't know that Ichy heard everything. Eggman then scoffed at what the others were doing. Even the doctor thought the celebration was outrageous.
"Another stupid celebration in this Valley. What's next? They'll do a celebration of the Moon as well?" groaned Eggman. Ichy felt confused.
"Uh, what's a Moon?" said Ichy.
"It's another name for Night Circle, and Sun is another name for Bright Circle" said Eggman.
"Oh, I see. (Scoffs) I agree. It's ridiculous to celebrate something that's not even alive" said Ichy. "I'd love to see if the Bright Circle would make everything too warm. Then there wouldn't be a celebration."
Eggman then raised both eyebrows. He then had a dark grin. He just thought of an evil idea.
"That's it!" exclaimed Eggman.
"Uh, what is 'it'?" asked Ichy.
"Come back to base. I just thought of a terrible plan" said Eggman.
"Okay Doc" said Ichy. The metal Sharp Beak then flew back to Eggman's ship. Eggman then got out of his chair and crossed his arms.
"Since they think the sun is alive, I'll make it so the dinosaurs will think that the sun is not happy with the celebration. He he he" Eggman said with a terrible laugh. The mean doctor started to work on a certain machine that would really heat things up.
Back in the Valley...
Cera then walked back to her nest. She now felt upset cause she thought that she may be the only one who doesn't like the celebration. Topps was eating some leaves. Cera then came by.
"(Sigh) Hi daddy" said Cera. Topps looked at his daughter.
"Oh, hi. You having a bad day?" said Topps.
Cera sighed. "Yeah."
Cera then looked around but didn't see Tria and Tricia.
"Where's Tria and Tricia?" asked Cera.
"Oh, they're off on some Bright Circle Celebration nonsense" replied Topps. Cera then cheered up cause now, she wasn't the only one who thought the celebration was silly.
"Really? You think it's nonsense? Cause that's what I think too" Cera said with a smile.
"Of course you do. You're a Three-Horn like me" said Topps.
"Yeah, the Bright Circle is no mystery. It's just a ball in the sky that gives light" said Cera.
"Exactly. There's nothing else you need to know. We trust what we see" added Topps.
"You got that right daddy" said Cera. Topps then nuzzled his daughter. They both went to eat some green food.
Meanwhile, the others were cleaning the area. Sonic used a mini twister to pick up the rest of the sticks and leaves. The clearing was just about cleared. Spike then made some mumbling sounds at Petrie. Ducky then came in.
"I think that Spike learned something" said Ducky.
Petrie then smiled. "That good Spike. What you learn?"
Spike smiled and then dug his head underground like an ostrich. He moved his head around.
Chomper raised an eyebrow. "What do you think he's doing down there?"
Spike then pulled out his head hard. He staggered backwards from pulling his head out. He had some dirt on his head, and he had some tree roots in his mouth.
Ducky then smiled. "Oh, everyone will like those tree parts at the celebration. Yep, yep, yep."
Spike then shook off the dirt on his head and neck. Some of the group shielded their eyes. Petrie then walked over and hugged Spike.
"Me think Bright Circle very proud" said Petrie. Littlefoot then said that they were almost done cleaning and it was about time for the celebration. Ducky then looked at Littlefoot.
"Littlefoot, have you learned anything?" said Ducky.
"Of course I have. Watch this" said Littlefoot. Littlefoot then pushed a small log with his strength. He grunted a little. But the log barely moved because a medium rock was in the way. Littlefoot then said that he was almost as strong as Spike. Spike mumbled in a confused way. He walked over and lifted the log on one end with his tail. Littlefoot then pushed the log over the medium rock. The group laughed a little.
"Well, I did say 'almost'" said Littlefoot.
"I think that Sonic and Cera are the strongest of all of us" said Chomper. The others agreed. Sonic simply smiled.
"Though I wish we could use the emeralds again" said Littlefoot.
"We all were very strong when we had the emeralds' powers. Oh yes, yes, yes" said Ducky. The other kids nodded. Sonic then looked at the kids.
"I know guys, but the emeralds aren't things to play with. They're sources of great power, so we shouldn't mess with them. We only use them if we have to" said Sonic. The others sighed but they knew Sonic had a point.
Back at Cera's nest, Topps gathered a pile of some nice green plants for him and Cera.
"There. We'll have a feast of our own, while everyone else is busy with that Bright Circle nonsense" said Topps. Cera thought the same. She started to eat right away. Topps then ate as well. Both Three-Horns then saw Tria and Tricia come over.
"Hi Topsy. Hi Cera. (Looks at the green food pile) Oh, are those for the celebration?" said Tria.
Cera shook her head. "Nope, they're just for us."
"What do you mean?" asked Tria.
Topps frowned. "You know I think this whole celebration stuff is ridiculous."
"Well, the rest of the Great Valley disagrees with you. Even Sonic disagrees" said Tria.
Topps then hmphed. "Cera doesn't. Right Cera?"
"Right, daddy" Cera said with pride. Topps and Cera ate some more leaves.
"Well, Tricia and I are having a great time. We helped the clearing look pretty" said Tria. "And Tricia found her first tree sweet."
Tricia laughed lightly with a cute smile. Tria then saw that Topps was not paying attention.
Tria clears her throat. "Are you listening to me?"
Topps then raised both eyebrows. "Uh, of course I was listening. You and all the others are busy thanking something that doesn't need any thanks."
Tricia felt surprised and Tria felt a little upset. But Tria wasn't too upset cause she knows how Topps thinks from time to time.
"Well, if you two change your mind, Tricia and I will be digging up sweet roots for the celebration" said Tria. Tria and Tricia then walked back to gather tree roots.
"No thanks. I'm staying right here with daddy" Cera said with a smile. Topps then smiled back. Cera then thought if Tria and Tricia were crazy to do this celebration and asked her dad about it. Topps then shook his head and told his daughter not to worry about it. The 2 Three-Horns ate some more leaves.
Back with the others, the clearing was now clean. Everyone started to gather food for the celebration. They didn't know that Eggman and Ichy were watching from afar. Eggman then chuckled evilly and pressed a button. Some kind of device then appeared and flew high into the sky. It looked like some kind of satellite. The other adults started to help with the celebration. The adults then walked away to gather more food. Ruby stood by a pile of tree branches. She picked one up.
"Hmm. Maybe I learned to like the taste of bad tasting tree parts" said Ruby. The Fast Runner then bit the branch in her hand. She then spit it out.
"Ugh. No, I haven't learned that" said Ruby.
"No worry Ruby. Bright Circle VERY patient" said Petrie. Ducky then looked at Sonic.
"Sonic, did you learn anything from last cold time?" said Ducky. The other kids also looked at Sonic.
Sonic then smiled. "Oh, I'll tell you guys a little later. It's a secret. (Winks)"
The others except Petrie then nodded. Petrie then groaned.
"Oh, but me want to know. And Bright Circle want to know too" said Petrie.
"You'll just have to wait Petrie, okay?" said Sonic.
Petrie sighed. "Okay."
Back at Cera's nest, Cera and her father ate some more leaves. But after a few moments, Cera started to feel upset. She started to think that she was being left out of something that might be good. She then thought that the sun celebration could be fun after all. She then looked at her father.
"Uh, dad?" said Cera.
"Yes Cera?" said Topps.
"Remember when Tria took me and my friends to the mud pool?" said Cera.
"Yes?" replied Topps.
Cera then explained that at first, she thought that mud pool was silly but when she tried it, it was actually fun. Her father listened as Cera said that her friends were having fun with something that seemed silly, but it might really be a good thing.
"...maybe it won't be so bad if we helped just a little bit" Cera said while feeling a little nervous at what her dad might say.
Topps then sighed. "Well... I suppose we could go over to see how everyone is having fun."
Cera then smiled. She was glad that her dad thought about it. "Thanks, daddy."
Both Three-Horns then went to the celebration area. The others had everything just about ready. The other adults were gathering the rest of the tree sweets, so they haven't arrived yet. Sonic then looked at the area and saw all the food piles.
"It looks nice" said Sonic.
"This place is much cleanerer. Yep, yep, yep" added Ducky.
"It almost time. Now we wait for all the others" said Petrie.
Chomper thought for a moment. "Do you guys think Cera will still come over?"
The others shrugged but Petrie said, "Me hope so. This celebration will be great."
However, Eggman and Ichy were near some trees. The evil genius then turned on a screen. It showed him a high view of the Valley. He then zoomed in. He pressed another button. A target circle appeared and targeted one of the trees nearby.
Eggman laughed evilly. "Sorry everyone, but this celebration is about to be canceled. For good!"
Both Eggman and Ichy laughed evilly. Eggman then pushed another button. The device in front of the sun's light pointed a yellow light spot. Sonic then saw a large yellow dot on a tree. It was the size of a large rock. It moved up and stopped. Sonic then raised an eyebrow.
"What's that strange light?" thought Sonic. Suddenly, Sonic heard something fire, like a laser. He then saw a yellow laser hit the tree, instantly setting it on fire. The others then saw the flaming tree.
"Uh, oh" said Sonic.
"Fire!" exclaimed Littlefoot. Cera and Topps were almost to the sun area, but then they saw smoke rising. Cera and Topps' eyes went wide.
"There's a fire!" exclaimed Cera.
"Hurry Cera!" exclaimed Topps. Both Three-Horns then ran to the area. The other kids felt afraid.
"Don't worry guys!" exclaimed Sonic. The Blue Runner acted quickly. He ran around the tree fast. The fire started to fade from the mini twister. Within a few seconds, the fire was gone. Sonic stopped running. The others felt relief.
Sonic looked at the others. "See? No problem."
But then, Sonic spotted the yellow light dot again. It moved fast and marked another tree. Another laser hit the tree, setting it on fire. Sonic then saw the light dot marked 3 trees and they all got hit by a laser shot. The group gasped at the fiery trees. Sonic raised both eyebrows.
"What were those rays of light?" said Littlefoot. The others felt confused. Sonic worked quickly and put out some fires. The group then saw the yellow circle dot. It moved near them. The group felt really confused. Suddenly, a laser hit where the light dot was. The group then jumped back as the spot was on fire. The dot moved towards them. The kids then looked up. They saw another yellow ray coming down... from the sun? The group moved out of the way from the laser. Another fire spot was made. The kids felt afraid as they looked at the sun.
"Is Bright Circle mad? Celebration not good?" said Petrie.
"But it can't be mad. It has to be something else" said Littlefoot. The kids jumped out of the way as the yellow light followed them. It kept firing laser shots.
"The Bright Circle looks mad to me" said Chomper. The kids avoided another laser shot. More fires started to spread.
Eggman laughed evilly as he targeted the kids on his screen. He was really enjoying himself since the kids started to think that the sun was attacking them. Ichy laughed as well.
The fires started to spread quickly. Sonic then stopped as he saw more laser shots. He now knew that he cannot put out the fires himself. He saw the kids trying to put out some fires, but more lasers kept coming.
"The Bright Circle making fires!" exclaimed Petrie. The kids felt really afraid. Sonic then looked up into the sky. He shielded his eyes and looked closely at the sun. He saw a black dot in the middle of the sun. He started to think that it wasn't the sun attacking them but something else. He then ran over to the kids. The kids looked at Sonic.
"Sonic, what do we do? The fires are spreading fast!" exclaimed Littlefoot.
"Yeah, I've never seen the Bright Circle so mad" added Ruby.
Sonic then had a serious expression. "I don't think it's the Bright Circle guys."
The kids felt confused and let out, "Huh?"
"You mean Bright Circle not mad?" asked Petrie.
Sonic shook his head. "I believe that it's either Eggman or Daxter up to no good again."
The group gasped. "So, what do we do? We have to put out these fires. We do, we do" said Ducky. The group then saw that the fires were spreading to the food piles. They had to stop the fires and save the celebration. Sonic then thought for a moment. The group then saw Topps and Cera coming over.
"Cera? Mr. Three-Horn? You guys came?" said Littlefoot.
"Of course, we did. And we're here to help" Topps said with a look of determination. The kids then looked at Sonic.
"Sonic, do you have a plan?" said Littlefoot.
Sonic then nodded. "Yeah, I got a plan."
Sonic then explained to Topps and Cera about the laser shots and that he is going to find out what's causing them. Both Topps and Cera nodded. He then told everyone the plan.
"Alright, Petrie you're with me. (Petrie raises an eyebrow) Everyone else, put out the fires however you can" said Sonic. The others nodded in determination.
"But why me Sonic? Shouldn't me stay to put out fires?" asked Petrie.
"Cause I'm going to need your help to find out what is causing those fires" said Sonic.
Petrie felt nervous. "Me don't know. What if something bad happen?"
Sonic then smiled. "It's okay Petrie. You can do it. It's for the Bright Circle."
Petrie then turned brave. "Right. For Bright Circle."
Sonic then carried Petrie in his hands and then zoomed out to a high mountain nearby. Eggman and Ichy then saw Sonic zoom away on their screen.
"Hah! It looks like the blue rat is giving up!" exclaimed Ichy.
Eggman rubbed his chin. "Maybe, but let's try to create a lot more fires so they cannot stop the flames in time."
Eggman then targeted some food piles and shot lasers. Spike then dug out some small piles of dirt. Littlefoot and Chomper used their back legs to kick the dirt onto the fires. Some fires were put out, but more fires were spreading. Littlefoot then told Ruby and Ducky to make wet tree stars to put out some more fires. Both kids nodded. Ruby started to gather a lot of leaves quickly and put them in the river. Ducky did the same. Ruby then remembered that she learned to run faster than before.
Cera also helped by digging up some more dirt like Spike was. Topps then helped by spreading wet leaves with his large tail. Ruby and Ducky brought more wet leaves from the river, and Topps would sweep the leaves onto the fires.
Meanwhile, Sonic brought Petrie up a high part of a mountain. Sonic then stopped running and looked into the sky. He then saw some kind of flying device. The device then shot another laser. Sonic then looked at Petrie.
"Petrie, do you see that thing in the sky?" said Sonic. Petrie then looked into the sky. He looked closely. He saw something flying.
Petrie gasped. "Me see something!"
"Good, now fly up to it and see what it is. And then fly back" said Sonic.
Petrie then nodded. "Okay."
The little Flyer then flew up towards the device. He stopped and examined the object. It looked like a medium- sized metal satellite with a laser gun at the bottom. Petrie then gasped as he saw the object was made of metal. It could be Eggman. Another laser was fired. Petrie then flew back to Sonic.
"Well, what did you see?" asked Sonic.
"It some kind of thing made of metal. It threw a ray of light" said Petrie.
Sonic then raised both eyebrows and then frowned at the device. "Eggman."
Petrie gasped. "It Eggman again?"
Sonic nodded. "Yep, it's him alright. He must've made a robot that would shoot lasers from the sky, making you guys think that it's the Bright Circle's fault."
"Oh, no! What we do? We must save Bright Circle Celebration!" exclaimed Petrie.
Sonic then winked. "Don't worry. I've got a plan."
Meanwhile, Eggman kept shooting more lasers. Topps and Cera almost got hit by the lasers. Eggman then laughed evilly. A lot of fires were made, and the fires were spreading fast. The group kept trying to put out more fires.
"Ha ha ha! They'll never be able to put out these fires now!" exclaimed Eggman.
"Bye-bye celebration!" Ichy exclaimed with an evil laugh. The evil genius targeted the group again. Suddenly, something got in the way of the computer's eye. It was Petrie.
Eggman raised an eyebrow. "What?! What the...?"
Ichy raised both eyebrows. "Hey! Where did he come from?"
The little Flyer then kept blocking the vision. Petrie kept pecking at it while saying, "Hello?" Eggman couldn't see the others.
"Hey! Get off! I can't see!" yelled Eggman. Petrie didn't hear Eggman's voice cause the device had no speakers, but Eggman could hear Petrie. Petrie kept pecking at the camera's eye.
Eggman then got mad. "Why you little..."
The mean genius then pushed a button and the device then targeted Petrie. The device charged up a laser shot. Petrie then gasped. But Eggman didn't know that Sonic was charging up his spin dash.
Eggman then had a target on Petrie. Petrie looked really afraid.
"Bye-bye little Flyer" said Eggman. Suddenly, Eggman then heard someone yell, "Lights out Eggman!"
"What?" said Eggman. Sonic then burst forward and hit the device with a powerful Homing Attack. Eggman's screen then went static. Eggman and Ichy silently gasped. Eggman then heard something falling. Eggman and Ichy looked up. They saw the device falling to the ground and, Sonic and Petrie were right behind it. The device hit the ground and exploded. Sonic landed elsewhere with no problem. Petrie then flew down as well. The others then saw Sonic and Petrie. Eggman pounded his hover ride with his fists.
"I'll teach him!" exclaimed Eggman. The evil genius then told Ichy to follow him. The metal bird did as he was told. Sonic then told the others about the sun device.
"So, it was that terrible Eggman again?" said Topps.
Sonic nodded. "Yep, he made you guys think that the Bright Circle was unhappy with the celebration."
"But Bright Circle not unhappy after all" Petrie said with a smile.
Cera then frowned. "That mean Eggman really gets on my nerves!"
"Mine too" added Topps. But then the group gasped as they almost forgot that there were more fires to put out. But just when Sonic was about to use another tornado, Sonic then saw something out of the corner of his eye. He looked towards his right and a big fireball was coming his way! He dodged and the fireball hit the ground, creating another fire spot. The group then saw Eggman flying with some kind of dark gray machine. It had 2 large cannons on both sides of the hovering ride. It looked like some kind of fire machine that Sonic had fought before. Everyone but Sonic gasped.
Sonic then frowned. "Eggman!"
Eggman then glared at Sonic. "You ruined my sun device and now, I'M going to ruin you and this Valley by burning it to the ground! Witness the power of my Egg Scorcher MK 3!"
The kids felt very afraid, but Topps and Sonic stood their ground. "Then bring it on Baldy Nosehair!"
Eggman growled at the mention of the silly nickname Sonic gave him. Eggman then aimed his fire cannons. Sonic dodged as the mean scientist tried to fry him with fireballs. Eggman couldn't hit Sonic. Topps tried to stay clear of the fireballs as well. Eggman then growled.
"Let's turn up the heat, shall we?" Eggman said as his glare turned into a wicked smile. The mean genius then pressed a button. The fire cannons then lit up and stored energy. Sonic then jumped as Eggman unleashed a wave of fire. The cannons acted like flamethrowers. A lot of things nearby caught fire. The kids kept trying to put out some more fires. Sonic kept dodging Eggman. Sonic then jumped and used a Homing Attack. Eggman got mad but then got hit by a large rock. Eggman's hover machine fell to the ground from the force of the rock shattering on the machine. Topps had thrown the rock by headbutting it.
Chomper then stopped kicking up dirt when he saw that Eggman's machine was close by. Chomper then frowned at Eggman.
"I'll show him not to mess my friends and the celebration!" exclaimed Chomper. Cera then saw Chomper run to Eggman.
"Chomper, come back! We need help with the fires!" exclaimed Cera. But Chomper didn't listen and kept running to Eggman. He then climbed into Eggman's machine the moment the machine started to fly again. Sonic and Topps had brave expressions. Eggman then growled and turned up the power again.
"I'm going to burn you both to cinders!" exclaimed Eggman. Both Sonic and Topps raised both eyebrows. Eggman didn't know that Chomper was right behind him. The little Sharptooth gasped at what Eggman had said. He glared and opened his mouth wide. Eggman then smiled as he was about to get rid of Sonic and Topps. Suddenly, both Sonic and Topps heard a loud SNAP and Eggman's eyes went wide.
"YEEEEEEOUUUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHHH!" yelled Eggman. Chomper bit Eggman's butt. The mean genius then scrambled with the controls of his machine since he felt great pain in his bottom that he could barely focus. The flame machine started to fly in all directions. Sonic and the others wondered what was going on with Eggman. The flame machine then hit the ground hard. Eggman felt hurt and dazed. Sonic and Topps raised an eyebrow. They saw Chomper then hop out. He made yucky sounds and stuck out his tongue.
"That was gross!" exclaimed Chomper. Eggman then shook his head to clear himself. He then looked at Chomper. He then glared at Chomper as the little Sharptooth looked back at him.
"You rotten little tyrannosaur! You bit me! On my butt!" yelled Eggman. Chomper then laughed nervously. But Eggman didn't know that Topps got ready to charge. Eggman then pointed his fire cannons at Chomper. Chomper then gasped.
"Now, I'm going to roast you into..." started Eggman. Suddenly, Eggman then let out, "Huh?" as he heard someone charging hard. He saw that it was Topps. The mean genius tried to point his fire cannon at Topps, but he reacted too late. Topps bashed Eggman's machine hard with a loud BANG. Eggman and his machine went flying far into the distance.
"I'LL...BE...BAAACCCCCCKKKKKkkkkkkkkk!" Eggman yelled as he went flying. Ichy then flew off to find his master. Sonic then crossed his arms with a smile.
Topps then hmphed. "That'll teach him not to mess with us!"
"You got that right" added Sonic. Topps then smiled. Chomper then walked over and thanked Topps. Topps then nodded. Sonic then looked at Chomper.
"Great job Chomper! You gave Eggman something he'll never forget or even recover from" Sonic said with a smile.
Chomper then smiled. "Thanks, but that Eggman sure tasted nasty."
Sonic and Topps laughed. Chomper then joined in. But their joy was cut short when they remembered that there were still more fires. The 3 beings ran back to the others. The other kids kept using wet tree stars and kicking up dirt on the fires, but the fires kept spreading. Sonic then had an idea. He then ran into the river and started another tornado. In a few seconds, he created a large waterspout. He then moved the waterspout towards the dry land. He then stopped running and let the waterspout move to the area. The others then backed up quickly so they wouldn't get sucked up by the waterspout. The large water tornado then unraveled and splashed water everywhere. In moments, all the fires were put out. Even all the dinos got splashed a little. All the dinos felt relieved. A few food piles were burned but not all the food piles. The rest of the adults then showed up. The celebration was saved after all. Everyone had fun celebrating the sun.
The sun now started to set, and the Valley even had some snow fall. Sonic and the kids then watched the sun set.
Petrie sighed. "Bright Circle beautiful."
"Yeah, it's alright" added Cera. "You know, maybe I've learned that it's okay to celebrate."
Petrie then smiled at Cera. Cera then hmphed. "Once in a while."
Sonic then rolled his eyes and shook his head with a small smile. The other kids also had a smile. Topps had told the other adults how he took care of Eggman, and adults felt proud of Topps, even Tria was very happy. Topps then smiled with pride.
It was almost nighttime. Sonic and the kids sat in a circle. One by one, the kids told each other what they learned. Littlefoot learned to be stronger, Cera learned to celebrate more often, Ducky learned to swim very deep, Petrie learned to fly well, Spike learned to dig well, Chomper learned to hop good, and Ruby learned to run faster and better. The kids then looked at Sonic.
"Okay Sonic, it's your turn" said Littlefoot.
"Yeah, what you learn?" said Petrie.
Sonic then smiled. "Alright, I'll tell you. I've learned to explore things way beyond my own home and I'm thankful that all of you guys are my best friends."
All the kids smiled brightly. All the kids gave Sonic a group hug. Sonic laughed lightly and hugged back. After they parted, Sonic then remembered something.
"And let's not forget that Chomper helped me and Mr. Three-Horn" said Sonic. The kids then looked at Chomper.
"Really? You helped Sonic?" said Littlefoot.
Chomper nodded. "Yep, I sure did."
"By biting him on his behind" added Sonic. The kids then laughed greatly, even Sonic joined in.
"You showed Eggman Chomper. You did, you did" said Ducky. Spike mumbled in agreement.
"Oh, I bet that hurt Eggman really bad" Cera said with a smile.
"Yeah, but Eggman tasted horrible" said Chomper. "He's so rotten that I think that no Sharptooth would want to eat him. Yuck."
"Yeah, he sure is a 'rotten egg' huh" Sonic said with a smile. Everyone then laughed. The celebration was fun. It was almost time for everyone to sleep. It was great day after all.
