ACT TWO | EXTENDED SUMMARY
BIRTHRIGHT | NINJAGO

IT WAS A MATTER OF WEEKS. At first weeks is only a word. You think that it's nothing big, just a simple time period that not a lot could be done in. Hiro had thought the same — when he was told that Ninjago City had rebuilt itself into a futuristic metropolis, he assumed that weeks was a long time. To find out that weeks only meant days, but more than a few days, he couldn't help but be impressed with New Ninjago City. Once the ruins of the Great Devourer, the Stone Army, and then The Overlord, the city had rebuilt itself into a safe, tech-filled land that could do almost anything, with Cyrus Borg at the head of the new city life. Hiro still hadn't met Borg — he was too busy traveling with Lloyd.

THERE WAS NO ENEMY. After the death of Hiro's father, Ninjago had known nothing but peace. Peace was boring — there was no one to save. There was nothing to do. Hiro felt his usefulness slipping away, as without an enemy to fight, there was no reason for him to use his powers. Even traveling with Lloyd was getting boring, though Hiro would never admit that out loud. Sometimes, though, he wishes he had left before anyone had noticed. Now he was in too deep, waiting for an enemy attack that no one thought would ever come.

THE DIGIVERSE HAS A VIRUS. Hiro had never felt drawn to the technology in New Ninjago City — in fact, everything about it gave him the creeps. He wanted to avoid it all times, even when he was relentlessly teased about his fear by Jay. Even Lloyd didn't seem to understand Hiro's hesitance around everything tech-centered. That was until The Overlord returned, however, revealed to be trapped in the Digiverse as a virus, controlling everything from behind the scenes.

WITH GOLDEN POWER COMES RESPONSIBILITY. That's something that Garmadon tries to drill into Lloyd's and Hiro's heads as they travel the long road, trying to get as far away from The Overlord as they can. But with two teenagers who do nothing but goof off, the lesson doesn't stick until the last moment, when everything begins to fall apart. New enemies, old rivalries, and a city that relies on technology being forced to go without power. If Hiro and the Ninja thought that life was beginning to get boring, then they may have been the ones to ruin their luck. With The Overlord on the loose and an army of Nindroids backing him up, Hiro finds that being a normal teenager might have been worth the boredom.

BOREDOM DOESN'T COME WITH A PRICE. But wanting a fight does, and Hiro didn't think the price would be a life.
