Dinner was incredible. Adam was shocked to realize that Kim had made fettuccine alfredo and that her cooking skills had highly improved since the last time he tasted one of her home cooked meals.

When he mentioned her choice of meal, she told him that when she moved to DC, that dish had become hwr comfort food, and the confession warmed up his heart more than she could ever imagine.

They were currently cuddling on the couch, enjoying every second they had together.

"Can I tell you something?" He asked her.

"Of course."

"All that time I wasn't conscious, I felt you with me."

"Well, that's probably because I was a fucking pain and was in your room every chance I had."

Adam chuckled, taking her hand in his and bringing it to his mouth to kiss her knuckles. "You know? I can even swear that I heard you say you loved me, but I was under the influence of heavy drugs so I was probably hallucinating.

"You weren't. Well maybe you were, but I did say that because I was convinced that you could hear me."

"So, is there anything stopping you from saying that again? Because I would love to hear it come out of those lips."

Kim smiled. He was pushing her a bit, but she had promised herself that she was going to own up her feelings. "I love you Adam Ruzek. I love you with all I have."

He hugged her tighter if that was even possible and kissed her lips gently. "I love you, too."

Kim smiled and kissed him again.

Sharing his feelings with him felt so incredibly good and although she knew there were a bunch of things that they still needed to solve, this was one hell of a start.

"So, how long are you here for?" She asked him straight out.

"Well, that depends."

"On what?"

"On how this turns out." Adam shrugged his shoulders and Kim looked at him with sparkly eyes. "I'm supposed to get back to work next week, my hotel is booked for tonight and tomorrow night and I didn't really buy a ticket back to Chicago yet."

"I'm gonna tell you how I think this should turn out." She sat up straight facing him. "I think you should stay here in DC for as long as you can or want and…" The way she stretched that "a" in that last word made him chuckle. "I think that you should cancel that hotel reservation."

"Yeah?"

"Mmm hmm." She nodded.

"Where should I stay then?" He knew the answer perfectly, but he wanted to hear her say it.

"Well, I have a small guest room." She shrugged giggling. She didn't want him in that room, she wanted him in hers.

Adam just laughed and hugged her to his chest. "No, seriously. You're welcome to stay here if you want. I sure do."

She snuggled closer to him, hugging his waist with one arm.

"What you said earlier, about wanting to be with me. You really meant that?"

"Yes." Kim didn't hesitate and the firmness in her answer gave him so much confidence. "I do and I really want to try to make it work." She reluctantly moved away from his hold because she needed to look into his eyes for what she was about to say next. "I never doubted what I felt for you, I just tried to unsuccessfully lock it away because it was very painful not to have you. I lost you once, I almost lost you again and I just don't want to go through that anymore.

Adam, I was so angry when I left Chicago because I had the chance to have everything I've always wanted again and I pushed it away. I pushed you away.

I was scared of getting hurt again, but when I saw you standing at my door." She sighed. "Gosh. I realized my fears are so stupid, nothing hurt more than being apart. You're my person, Adam. There's no use in denying it anymore."

"I'm glad you liked seeing me here and I'm sorry I didn't pop up at your door eight years ago."

"It's ok. You're here now. We're here now and that's what matters."

"I love you, I never stopped loving you, Kim. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make this work."

"Me too. We will figure it out together."

"I like the sound of that." He said before cupping her cheek with his left hand to bring her face closer to his and kiss her soft lips.

Kim was in pure bliss, savoring his lips and enjoying his hands rubbing her back. She wanted to get as much of him as she possibly could.

"So…" She started to say after they parted for air. "Are you canceling that reservation?"

"Well it's non refundable so it's pointless to cancel and I do need a place to stay while you're working." He told her while tucking a loose strand of her behind her ear. "But, I also want to spend as much time as I can with you."

"Does that mean you're staying here tonight?" Kim asked with sparkling eyes.

"It does." His smile was wide and bright.

"Good." She instinctively jumped, unable to hide her excitement. "I'm going to get more wine then."

"No, you're not. You're gonna stay here with me. "He pulled her closer to his body, enjoying her weight over him. "We can get the wine later, I'd much rather do other things right now."

"Things like what?" She asked with a flirty tone of voice.

"Things like these."

His lips pressed against hers again, only this time it was much more wild and passionate. Neither of them were holding back, they were just giving in to their feelings.

Their tongues were comfortably playing with each other, and every now and then they would break apart only to peck their mouths repeatedly and re-engage in their make out session.

The temperature was rising and despite the cold weather outside, Kim's apartment felt like the Sahara Desert, but they couldn't care less about that.

His hands took a break from rubbing her back, to firmly stay on her hips and pull her close to him.

The feeling of his lips on her neck was driving her absolutely insane.

She hooked her arms around his neck to get some support as her left leg shifted to straddle him and enjoy that tingling sensation invading her skin that she had missed for so long.

As Adam's hands slowly moved up and down her back to finally find a comfortable place on the back pocket of her jeans, Kim was oblivious to the fact that her hips were slowly bucking against him but she was well aware that her hands were desperately trying to find a way under his shirt.

Her nails gently scraping against the skin of his chest made him growl, wanting to rip off that damn thing and give her all the space she needed to caress his body.

Kim started to push the fabric upwards, and with some of his collaboration, the garment was off and on the floor in the blink of an eye.

The brunette had a steady hold of his shoulders, allowing her mouth to meet his neck once again and even though they had done this a bunch of times before, right now it felt like they were discovering themselves all over again.

His heavy breathing and slow movements under her body were killing her, so she decided to dive to his pulse point and lightly suck on it. She remembered that was his soft stop, and judging by his moans and the way his hands managed to slip under her clothes she knew it still was.

The way their bodies craved to be against each other was something that they never experienced with anyone else. It was as if some kind of gravitational pull wanted to merge them together.

Adam kept moving his fingers under the fabric on her body, and with a couple of maneuvers he managed to find himself cupping her breasts. He could feel her nipples hardening to his touch below the lace piece of lingerie she was wearing.

His senses came back in a flash, and he knew he was going to regret this so much. But he wanted to do things differently this time, to show her he was one hundred percent committed to this.

"Darlin'." He whispered, almost disappointed in himself. "Darling wait."

Kim stopped and looked at him, confusion clouding her eyes.

"I can't believe I'm saying this." He shook his head and pulled on that longer flock of hair at the top of his head. "I think we should hold it right here for now."

"Wha… what happened?" She had no clue were he was coming from and it was scaring her a bit.

"No, it's nothing like that, nothing happened. I just don't want to rush it."

"Rush? You do realize we've done this before, right?" The brunette inquired, trying to make sense of it all.

"I do, very much." He gave her a fun wink, in an attempt to alleviate her tension. "I just want to do this a bit differently this time."

"Umm, ok." She pulled her hair behind her ears and unstraddled him. "Do you still wanna stay?"

Kim asked, a bit bummed.

"Yes, of course!" He held her face in his hands and looked right into her eyes. "This has nothing to do with me not wanting to be here or with you. Gosh Kim, I'm dying for us to be together, but I wanna do it right, like you deserve."

Kim wasn't really sure as to what he was talking about, but just nodded before getting up from the sofa. "Ok. I'm gonna get ready for bed. I probably have something for you to wear if you don't want to sleep without a shirt on." She stated as she busied herself in the kitchen and just that was enough for Adam to know that she hadn't taken what he said the way he'd meant it.

"Hey, come here." He walked after her only to warp her in his arms. "I love you."

"Me too." She replied dryly and he managed to drop a kiss on her neck hoping it'd do something to reassure her.

"It doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you." He mentioned softly in regards to the shirt issue.

"Well, I was the one who started to get you naked in the first place. So…" She shrugged and Adam chuckled, making her see the situation from another perspective and giggling as well. "I sound like a horny teenager, don't I?"

"No, you sound like me."

"Potato patata…" She said, making him laugh harder. "I guess I got the catholic school version or you tonight." She joked trying to lighten up her own mood.

"I just want to be a gentleman, but you're making it very hard for me." He paused for a little and looked down. "If you know what I mean." He joked back, but he really was telling her the truth. "Trust me?"

"You know I do."

"Good." He kissed her forehead softly. "How about we go to bed now?"

"Sure." She hugged his waist and rested her cheek on his chest. "Let's go."

Although she initially wanted something else, she couldn't really complain about how the night played out.

They cuddled in bed. Adam gently caressed her back and peppered soft kisses on her face while he whispered words of love into her ear.

She fell asleep tangled in his body and they woke up the same way.

"Good morning, gorgeous."

"Good morning." Her voice was still full of sleep, but she couldn't help the smile plastered on her face due to the realization of their current state.

Her legs were twisted with his, as her arm draped over his waist and his hand tenderly rubbed her back under the t-shirt she wore to bed. "How'd you sleep?"

"Amazing. You?"

"Likewise." She snuggled deeper into him. "So, what are your plans for the day?"

"First I'm making you breakfast to make sure you don't go to work on an empty stomach and then I guess I'll go back to my hotel to get some things arranged while I wait for you to come back so we can have dinner together. Would you like that?"

"Yes. Very much."

"Great. Then I'm gonna get to work." He kissed her lips and got out of bed and right before he walked out of her bedroom he turned to see her. "Waking up to you the way I did today, has been one of the best things that happened to me in the last eight years." He dropped that comment with a smile and left Kim blushing in bed as she hugged the pillow Adam used to her chest.

She was in deep shit.

The feelings she had for him were stronger than ever and she felt like she was on cloud nine as she watched him move around her kitchen, cooking in only his black boxers.

With the lights on she was able to see the bruises covering his body and all she wanted to do was take care of him, but she did her best to control herself.

"Does it hurt?" She finally spoke.

"Hmm, a little. But your kisses last night helped a lot."

"Glad to hear that." She paused to drink a sip of coffee from the mug that he had left earlier on the island. "Listen, I know you wanna do things your way and everything, but if you want to stay in DC for longer you can stay here. I'm only saying it as an option." She shrugged.

"Thanks babe. I'm talking to Voight today to see when I'm expected back, but my plan is to stay here for as long as I can." He walked closer to her and left the rest of the food on the black marble. "I want to make the best out of the time we have together." His soft and tender voice was melting her insides.

"I want that too." She grabbed his hand over the counter. "I'm sorry I've been a little needy, it's just…"

He didn't let her finish. "Hey, you don't need to apologize. I get it and I actually love the fact that you want to be with me just as much as I do." He rubbed her knuckles with his thumb before he continued to speak. "We're gonna make it work out, I promise."

"Yeah. I know we will."

They both leant over to meet halfway and join in a sweet kiss.
