They were both lying in bed. The sheets covered their bodies and Kim looked at him in complete awe as his index finger traced her arm slowly.

"What's that look on your face?" He asked.

"What look?"

"That." He pointed at her smile.

"I don't know. I guess I'm just happy."

"I make you happy?" He asked again.

"You do."

"That's cool, because you make me happy too." He got closer to her, wrapping his arm around her waist, sliding her closer to him. "I feel like the pieces of my puzzle are finally assembled correctly."

"Well. We still have a few things that we need to sort out." Adam chuckled at her comment. "What?"

"You haven't changed a bit. Always overthinking." Kim pouted her lips making him giggle even more before bitting on her lower lip. "That's alright though, it's the Kim that I fell in love with. It's the Kim that I've terribly missed all these years."

"I missed you too."

The kiss she left on his neck was so sweet it made him shiver.

"I missed us, Adam."

"Tell me about it. There's no other feeling like it." Kim nodded in agreement. "Being together like this, damn. Not having it sucked." His lips brushed hers as he kept talking very softly. "Touching your soft skin, kissing every curve and bump of your body, having you naked next to me." He paused between every statement, causing goosebumps to cover her body. "Hearing you moan out my name." His hand was roaming up and down the curve of her waist. "Slipping inside you and feeling your wetness welcome me." He went straight to kiss her neck, eliciting a long, deep breath from his girl.

"Adam." She purred out his name as she gently rubbed the tip of her nose on his neck. "I also missed that, so much." Her eyes were closed in an attempt to intensify her other senses. Adam's beard was tickling her and his lips were arousing her most primal instincts.

She let the feeling his kisses were waking up in her and was quick to pin him in the mattress with her own body by swinging one of her legs over his hips. In that straddled position she placed both hands on his shoulders and dipped down to kiss his lips and Adam's hands were quick to rub her back. His motions were up and down, taking each down a little bit deeper to cup her ass.

Kim started to travel to his neck kissing him and lightly nibbling and sucking on his skin, he was definitely enjoying it and she was taking her sweet time with him.

"I have every intention of sorting everything out together and I have faith that we will, but I'm happy with having you back with me and I'll take that in whichever way that comes." He grabbed her hand and kissed her knuckles. "What I'm trying to say is, I'm gonna work hard for us, and I'm not gonna push you into anything that you are not one hundred percent sure about. As long as we are together, that's all I need."

"That's all I need too." She kissed his lips. "At least for now." She placed a kiss on the middle of his chest and snuggled closer into him before they both fell asleep.

Her alarm went off, making her jump in bed. After everything that had happened the previous night she was able to rest like a baby.

As soon as she opened her eyes she roamed everywhere looking for Adam, and even though she hadn't seen him, the smell of fresh coffee and the noises coming from farther away told her that he was right there.

She stirred a little in bed and stretched her arms before looking for something to wear to get out of bed.

"Good morning." He said softly as he appeared in sight.

"Hi." She said smiling.

"I thought I heard your alarm."

"You did."

"We do have time to eat breakfast before you go to work, right?"

"We even have time to stop by my place so I can get changed and you can leave your things there."

"Good. Because I ordered a few things for us to eat."

He went to open one of the closet doors and started to talk again. "By the way, your pink pen wasn't the only one of your belongings that made the way with me."

Kim scrunched up her face, not having a clue of what he was talking about. "This is yours."

He left an old oversized CPD t-shirt that was originally Adam's but that Kim had claimed as hers when they were dating.

"Wait. Is this?"

"It is. Now, I don't want to rush you but I don't want your coffee to get cold." He turned around and disappeared, leaving Kim with a huge grin plastered on her face as she put on the t-shirt and looked for her underwear and got ready to find her man. More than drinking warm coffee, she just wanted to hug and kiss him.

"I can't believe you, Adam Ruzek." She padded towards him and hugged his waist before crashing her lips against his mouth.

"Breakfast looks good, right?" He asked oblivious to what she was actually referring to.

"I'm not talking about that. You kept this, all this time."

"Of course I did. Kim, I really never could let you go." He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm not gonna lie, there were days that I was really pissed at myself for that, but today I'm grateful I didn't because I get to enjoy being with you again."

"I get what you mean because the same thing happened to me and I'm grateful, too. I love you." She delicately pecked his lips. "And I love my shirt." She said, closing her eyes triumphantly.

"Before you even start wondering about it."

Kim rolled her eyes even before he finished speaking. "No one else ever wore that. Just you and me, baby."

"Good. Because this is mine." She grabbed the collar of the t-shirt. "And you are mine and I am yours."

"Always, darling. Alway."

They had breakfast together, talking, joking and catching up on some family stuff they never really talked about when she was in Chicago and that was when they realized that at some point they had to share this with their families, but the topic was too heavy to discuss over breakfast before she had to get ready to go to work.

Adam checked himself out of the hotel and called an Uber to take them to Kim's where they left his stuff there and she got changed and grabbed her star and gun.

"Before I forget."

She opened a drawer and got a set of keys.

"These are the spares." She handed them to him. "Feel free to do whatever you want, mi casa es su casa."

"Thanks."

"I'll text you and if things are light at work maybe we can get together for lunch with Erin."

"I'd love that."

"Have fun. There are also cool places you can visit if you want to go out and get some fresh air."

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."

"I know you will, I'm just saying." She shrugged her shoulders. Kim loved her job, but right now she only wanted to stay with him.

"I have to go. Talk to you in a little bit."

"Great. Be safe."

"I will." She got closer to him only to wrap him in a hug and kiss him. "I love you."

"I love you too, Burgess."

Cutting early to go to lunch together was impossible. They had just caught a case and Kim would be lucky if she managed to get home on time.

Kim and Erin were sitting in the break room, eating some sandwiches they ordered, while the rest of the team was out getting lunch for themselves.

Lindsay was carefully observing her friend as they both were drinking their lemonades.

"You had sex last night." Erin declared, wiggling her eyebrows.

Kim just looked at her friend and bursted into laughter. "As a matter of fact I did."

"Of course you did. The after sex glow never lies." They both chuckled. "And? How was it? I don't need details."

"It was amazing. I think it was even better than before."

"And those doubts that you were having?"

"Gone with the wind." Kim said smiling and with her cheeks lightly blushed. "We talked about it briefly and then things happened and everything was wonderful."

"That's great." Erin bit into her sandwich and Kim did the same as her. "How long is he staying for?"

"Um, Sunday morning."

"What are you going to do after that?"

"We don't know yet. We're going to enjoy what we have and go with the flow. But I'm guessing that I'm going to be flying back to Chicago the next weekend we get off."

"That sounds like a solid plan."

"Well, we don't want to rush anything. It's hard considering our jobs and all."

"I know. And if you need anything you know you can talk to me."

"I know." The brunette took another sip from her drink before talking to her friend again. "Adam was really looking forward to having lunch with you."

"Me too."

"How about you join us for dinner? We can drink a few beers and order something, those burgers you like, I'm sure Adam would appreciate those."

"Sounds like a plan."

"Great. I'm gonna text him and let him know."

It was night when they managed to leave the district and although she was very tired, the idea of spending the night with Adam and her friend cheered her up.

She opened the door to her place and found him bringing some chips and dips to the living room.

"That looks good." She said, eying the platter.

"I tried. The beers are already in the fridge and I bought some snacks to have while we wait for the delivery guy." He looked around the room and realized she was on her own. "Wait. Where's Erin?"

"She stopped by her place first. Said she was going to take a shower and get changed into something more comfortable before coming and I was actually thinking about doing the same."

"Ok."

"You said everything here was ready, right?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Great. So, would you like to shower with me?"

The sparkle in his eyes was bright like stars at midnight. He walked over to her and grabbed her by her legs to throw her over his shoulder, making her giggle.

"Hell yeah I'd like to shower with you."

The time spent underwater was mind blowing and the dinner with Erin was great.

They had lots of fun, sharing stories and talking about things from the past.

It was a funny feeling knowing that sometimes you just have to move on but a part of you misses your past like crazy, and they all felt that, but at the same time it was like they were getting a piece of that back.

And they wouldn't change that feeling for the world.
