The screen shows a beautiful scene of the port—five tall buildings in the background and a bridge overhead where they can see. We flash to a tea shop with a penguin statue by the door.

"Woah, that's even prettier than the last time!"

Kunikida's voice is heard, "You're unreliable and you're a fool, Dazai. Who says," he takes on a mocking voice. "Wow! That's a nice river," he begins to lose the mocking tone and go straight for anger. "And then jumps into it!"

"Poor, Kunikida. Having to deal with Dazai." Whoever said it didn't realize the blonde was going to say the same thing, just with more words.

Atsushi is seen shovelling tea on rice into his mouth with his chopsticks.

"So messy," Cho mutters. "It's to be expected, but I'm so used to dignified eating that I forgot how it would look."

Another Ravenclaw beside her laughs, "Have you not looked at the Gryffindor table?" He grins. "Their first years are always messy with their excitement."

'Yeah, excitement.' Harry thinks. 'That excitement caused me to be sick, so I didn't even enjoy the welcoming feast like most did.'

Kunikida continues his rant, "While in the middle of a job!" The dark blonde is now seen writing furiously in his notebook while Dazai sits beside him looking bored, hands clasped together. "Now we're late. I'll have to revise our whole schedule."

"You're obsessed with your schedules, Kunikida," Dazai mutters not even bothering to face him. Kunikida scoffs before slamming his notebook down on the table.

"This book isn't just some day planner! This is an ideal, this is my sole guide in life and nowhere is it written that my coworker should be a suicidal maniac!" Dazai finally looks at his partner with an unimpressed gaze.

"Wow, I just said that!"

"Guess you two think alike." Another mumbled.

Atsushi speaks with his mouth full, Dazai glancing at him in confusion while Kunikida just looks upset that he's talking before swallowing his food. "Be quiet!" He sits back in his seat. "And nowhere in my projected expenses is there a lineup item for a million bowls of tea on rice for a snot-nosed kid!"

Hermione clicks her tongue but doesn't say anything. She knows that it's not that easy for people to simply pay for someone else's meal. Her parents might be better off than others, but they still could barely afford to take care of Crookshanks, her being old and all.

The kid speaks with his mouth full again. The blonde just seems more frustrated than angry now. "And now he's got questions." Atsushi continues his jumbled line of questioning, still while eating. "Fine, I'll tell you. It involves the military."

Dazai turns back to his colleague with a confused look, "How are you two communicating with each other?" Atsushi and Kunikida look at him wondering how he couldn't understand the conversation.

"I understood a bit of the last thing. He said that they kept talking about their job."

That alone helped the others realize what was happening. They couldn't understand someone speaking gibberish after all.

Atsushi is leaning back, patting his stomach with bowls upon bowls stacked in front and beside him. He sighs, "I'm so full. I've had enough rice to last me a good ten years!" the white-haired boy looks satisfied, but Kunikida looks mad.

"I strongly suggest you show a little gratitude after you ate this on my dime!"

"You're a real lifesaver." Atsushi's voice is soft and grateful. Kunikida looks at him confused. "I came to Yokohama straight from the orphanage. I've had nor to sleep since." He smiles at the two in front of him. "I thought I'd starve to death."

Dazai picks something up in the kids' statement. "You're from an orphanage?"

"I was, yes, but they kicked me out."

Dazai doesn't look impressed with them any more than Kunikida does. "Sounds like a real philanthropic organization."

No one wanted to speak, too enraptured with what was happening. How could an orphanage throw out a child in their care? It just didn't make sense to them. Maybe now, they'll get some answers to their questions.

"Look, Dazai," Kunikida turns to address him properly. "We're not a couple of do-gooders going around helping hard luck cases. We've got a job to do."

Atsushi perks up once again, "That reminds me, you said that your current job involves the military. What kind of work do you do?"

Dazai rests his chin on top of his folded hands, finger raising, "We're private… investigators." Atsushi just blinks, muttering the word 'investigators'.

Kunikida picks up the conversation seeing that Dazai wasn't going to continue, "But we handle more than lost pets and cheating spouses. Our office has uniquely gifted investigators. We're the Armed Detective Agency." Atsushi rears back in shock, eyes widening.

Well, that was an interesting reaction. What could the Armed Detective Agency have done to earn that kind of reaction to the name? They were about to get their answer.

The screen shows black smoke with Atsushi's voice covering it. "I've heard of the Armed Detective Agency, but I thought those were just stories!" The smoke clears faintly, showing five unique figures, all with different styles and from the looks of it, weapons. Their faces cannot be made out as the wind blows their hair and clothes. "Tales of an agency specializing in cases that can't be entrusted to the police or the military. An armed force that's straddled the natural and supernatural worlds. That there was even war. I'd heard that many members of this elite agency," flashes back to Atsushi in the tea shop with the two detectives. "Possess supernatural powers." his eyes narrow. "Am I in the presence of two superhumans?"

"So, this is what they meant by the last type of magic left," Harry mutters. He wouldn't say it out loud, but he was worried about this. If this was all that was left of magic and the public knew about it, what would happen to them? Harry knows firsthand that many people don't take kindly to people who are different. Wars are fought over religion, race, etc. and nothing can be done about it. So how would the general public get over their fears of the unknown so that they can live in harmony?

Kunikida is furiously writing in his notebook and Dazai looks out of it before staring above Atsushi, getting an excited look on his face. "Check out that support beam up there!" Atsushi tilts his head to stare above himself.

"Huh?"

Without looking up from his notebook Kunikida responds, "Don't even think about hanging yourself in this teahouse."

"Again with the suicide," Flitwick sighs deeply.

"I'm not," Dazai turns to him. "I'm thinking of the hanging health technique."

"What are you talking about?" The blonde detective faces his partner, confusion in his voice as much as on his face.

"What, you don't know!" Dazai sounds shocked. "It's so good for releasing muscle tension and shoulder cramps!" Atsushi is still staring at the beam.

"Woah! That would be perfect for me!"

"There is no way that is a real thing," Goyle states confused.

"It would! You should write this down." Atsushi finally looks back at the two as Kunikida does as told, writing down word for word what Dazai said, mumbling the words as he writes them down. The boy does not look impressed any longer.

A group of mixed students laugh. "Atsushi is just done with them!" One giggles.

Dazai now has his head on one hand facing the opposite direction to the blonde. "I'm messing with you." Kunikida snaps his pen with surprising ease, whipping around to strangle his coworker.

"Holy shit!" A seventh year shouts getting a nasty glare from McGonagall for his troubles.

'Are these two weirdos actually with the Armed Detective Agency?' Atsushi thinks while Kunikida is heard complaining again about Dazai's last attempt. Atsushi hunches in on himself. To get them to stop fighting he tries to draw their attention away from what has just occurred, "So about the job you said you're both working on…"

"What!" It draws their attention and Kunikida's anger.

Most jump back, feeling the anger radiating through the screen. They weren't expecting him to yell that loud.

"Sorry, sorry, sorry! I really shouldn't have asked!" Atsushi raises his hands in surrender. "Right, that was my mistake. Of course, your jobs are classified. Please, forgive me and don't hurt me."

The detective has calmed down in the short timespan it took for Atsushi to get those words out. "Actually," the blonde speaks, "Since you mentioned it, today's job doesn't require any secrecy. It's for the government. We're looking for a tiger."

"A tiger…"

"Wait, I get that their agency takes on cases that the Auror- I mean the police?" Pansy looks to Draco to get a nod. He might not like muggles or muggle-born, but he knows how to listen. "Or the military can't handle, but why would they only send two people to catch it? Wouldn't that be more dangerous?"

"Yes, a ferocious maneater who's recently appeared in the city. Well, not that we know for sure it's devoured anyone, but it's ransacked warehouses, eaten farm animals, and caused general chaos." For once, Dazai looks completely serious. "The authorities have received all kinds of scary reports about it."

Bowls clash as Atsushi falls out of his chair and onto the floor. "What's wrong, Atsushi?"

"I'll be leaving, now. Goodbye." Atsushi tries to make a run for it but Kunikida grabs him by the collar, not letting go.

"Not so fast. Do you know something you're not sharing with us?" While Kunikida is asking his question Atsushi is still running even though he is hoisted in the air, feet no longer touching the ground.

He stops trying to get away, knowing it's impossible and goes slack in the man's grip. "Don't try." When he turns to look back at the two his face is filled with terror. "There's no way you can stop that animal!"

The blonde does not look impressed, "Really, now? Tell us what you know about the tiger."

"It's after me, it almost killed me." Atsushi renews his struggles, fear making him do things he normally wouldn't have dared to do. "If it's been seen around here, I have to go, now! Please! I'm begging you, let me go!"

"This tiger almost killed Atsushi and they are still going to try and catch it!"

"What are they even going to do with it once they catch it?"

Kunikida releases the boy's collar mid-run causing him to fall. The detective grabbed his arm, pulling it back and pressing a knee into his back, holding him in place on the floor. "Look, kid. You either pay for the food with your arm or tell us everything!"

"Ouch," a kid winces. "That had to hurt."

"Now, now, Kunikida." Dazai stands from his seat, calm as can be. "Whenever you ask questions it quickly deteriorates into an interrogation. You've been talked to about this."

"And here I thought it would be Dazai that would have had a talking to for something like that." Snape drawls.

He scoffs but removes himself from Atsushi's back. "Let me try." Dazai sits down next to the boy as he sits up holding his shoulder. "Okay. Now, what do you know about this tiger?"

"That tiger kept attacking my orphanage. It ruined our vegetable garden." The screen flashes to a garden. "It decimated our chicken coop." Flashes to a destroyed warehouse. "And empty out our food warehouse." Finally, it flashes to a chicken coop, feathers and blood scattered around. "I mean, no one died, but the orphanage was already on a tight budget." The screen goes black. "I got kicked out so they'd have one less mouth to feed." Atsushi is standing at the iron gates with his orphanage on the other side. "I don't have a home because of that tiger."

How were they supposed to react? They just saw that this tiger ruined Atsushi's life, or at least helped contribute to the ruining of it.

Flashbacks of the orphanage appear once again.

"Oh, not this again!"

"Get out, you good-for-nothing!"

"The world would be a better place if you'd just die in a ditch somewhere!"

Atsushi is now shown in this flashback. "Why me? I didn't do anything."

"We don't need worthless leeches like you!"

"You're not welcome here and you'll never find a place where you do belong!"

"Just go! I hope you rot in hell!"

It goes back to Atsushi with Dazai. "Well, that's a tragic tale." The brunette doesn't sound upset but calculating.

"But back to the tiger. You said it almost killed you?"

That brought everyone back to the main problem. They didn't want to think about the idea that the boy they just met could die. It left a bad taste in their mouths.

Dazai is now sitting in the chair Atsushi had been in, and the kid now sitting on a bench nearby with Kunikida standing guard. "It shows up wherever I go like it's tracking me. Hunting me down so it can pounce, tear me to shreds. Recently, when I was walking around Tsutami neighbourhood…"

The screen goes black before showing Atsushi stopping, and a growl is heard to the side of him. He glances up into a street mirror only to see two glowing blue eyes. It zooms in to show the tiger lifting its head, the growling continuing.

"Merlin!" Someone yelled.

"It's a tiger!" A man is heard yelling.

"Run!" The woman who screamed wails as Atsushi runs down the street.

"I started seeing it two weeks before the orphanage expelled me but I've caught glimpses of it many times since then." We're back in the teashop. "My instinct tells me it's come to the city hunting me."

Dazai is shown, he seems to have caught something that Kunikida had not. Something off about Atsushi's story. "When was the last time you saw the tiger stalking you?"

What did Dazai realize? There wasn't anything that they could tell would be interesting.

The boy looks up at that, "Uh, I think I saw it in Tsutami four days ago. Yeah, that sounds about right."

Kunikida is checking his notebook. "That makes sense. Reports of a wild tiger started coming in two weeks ago and then it was sighted again in Tsutami only four days ago."

"Hmm," Dazai thinks. "Atsushi, are you free tonight?"

'I have a really bad feeling about this.'

"I have a bad feeling about this as well," most mumble.

"You being the maneaters target presents an excellent opportunity." Dazai is writing something on a napkin, while Atsushi stares worriedly. He turns around with a huge smile, "Would you please help us find the tiger?"

"Forget it! No way!" While Atsushi is yelling, Dazai hands the napkin to his partner.

Hannah nods, "I wouldn't want to either, Atsushi."

"Kunikida, please give this to the agency president."

The man is concerned, "But the two of you are going to catch this animal We should confirm his information first."

Dazai does not seem concerned about that. "It'll be fine." Kunikida sighs but takes the paper anyway.

"I'm not doing this, okay," Atsushi states bluntly. "I know what you're thinking. You're planning to use me as bait! There's no way I'd—"

"There's a reward you know."

"Don't," Hannah is worried. "Stick to your gut, Atsushi!"

Atsushi rears back, not having expected that. "There's a… what now? No… Reward? No, I can't. You are not gonna tempt me with a little money! But just so I'm totally clear about my decision, how big is the reward for this case?" Dazai shows Atsushi a paper with the reward on it, causing him to shout in shock.

Hannah sighs, shoulders hunching and head falling into her hands. "I know why he'd want to, but still. He could get hurt, or worse, killed!"
