Derek was having breakfast while thinking more of what to do that coming weekend to tell Lupin of what he potentially have found that'll help him with his Lycanthropy. But first things first, he had classes. His classes that day are Transfiguration, History of Magic, lunch, Herbology, and Astronomy that'll take place after sunset. He had several hours in between to do his work and prepare for that weekend.

He arrived at Transfiguration on the first floor. He saw cages around with animals inside, small statues, a large window, a chalkboard with strange symbols on them, and a cat was sitting on the desk in front of the chalkboard.

The cat saw Derek enter before others arrived. It then jumped off the desk and, much to Derek's shock, transformed into Professor McGonagall herself.

"OKAY! That's surprisingly brilliant!" Derek yelled as he froze from the transfiguration she did.

"Thank you for the kind words Mr. Night. In fact, rumor is that you repelled a Dementor on the Hogwarts Express. Is this not true?" McGonagall asked.

"Yep. Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood saw it happen. Ginny was effected by the Dementor's presence." Derek answered.

"Did you use the Patronus Charm?" She asked.

"No, because I don't know that spell. I used magic from my eyeballs." Derek answered while widening his eyes and they glowed. McGonagall backed away with fright as she has never seen anything like this. "I called that magic Prismatic Pulse, and it really did a number on the Dementor. In fact, it does more than just that." Derek continued.

"Something that might be more powerful than the Patronus Charm? If possible, can you show me a demonstration?" She requested after his eyes dimmed.

Derek looked around and saw a statue that seems like the perfect demonstration.

"Alright, here goes." Derek says as he glared at the statue and his eyes glowed once again. He fired his Prismatic Pulse at the statue, and he sent it to a wall, causing it to shatter on impact. "Ta-da." Derek says with an embarrassed look at her.

"Amazing but try to refrain from using it in this class." She said with a small smile.

"Won't be a problem. Although I should warn you about something important about my eyes." Derek said.

He briefly told her about what has been happening to his eyes lately and updated her if they glowed on their own again.

"Very well Mr. Night. I appreciate the update." She said just before the other students began to enter.

After Derek joined his fellow classmates, and McGonagall fixed the destroyed statue, the lecture commenced.

"Today, we will be learning how to transform inanimate objects into birds with the Avifors spell." McGonagall said to the class.

Throughout the lecture, everyone began to learn how to use the spell. Derek had a small statue. It took him a couple tries, but he was able to turn it into a bluebird successfully.

He later went to History of Magic where he will be taught by Professor Binns, who was the only ghost professor at Hogwarts. Derek can only imagine how long he had been teaching at this school and how many students were taught by him.

"Welcome first years to History of Magic, where we will dive into the past of truths behind magic accomplishments and historical moments. Open your books to page 15, the Werewolf Code of Conduct of 1637." Binns said as the lecture began.

This lecture made Derek realized how much of a hell of a life Lupin had. It was no wonder that the Code of Conduct was a massive failure. No one signed the conduct as they were going to be shunned by admitting to the world that they were werewolves.

After class, he was tasked to write a parchment about more of how the Code of Conduct failed, and how it could've made things better. Derek was at lunch and thought more of how he can ease Lupin's thoughts of his…experiment that he thought of last night.

"Hello Derek!" Luna sang as she sat by him.

"Hey there Luna. What's up?" Derek asked.

"I was wondering if you'll join us for the first Quidditch match next weekend. It's gonna be Hufflepuff Vs. Ravenclaw." Luna said.

Derek felt his excitement grow. He knew that his family for a few generations were Quidditch stars both in and out of Hogwarts, but now he was going to be seeing his first match firsthand.

"I'm in! Maybe I'll try out for the team next year since first years can't join." Derek said while slouching a bit from saying that last part.

"I think Harry Potter will want a word with you on that. He made it onto the Gryffindor team as a Seeker in his first year." Luna said, surprising Derek big time. "Ginny can attest to that. Her brother Ron is a witness." Luna added.

Derek was still rather surprised. What else about Harry Potter that he doesn't know about?

Derek later on went off for the greenhouse for Herbology with Professor Sprout, who was also head of Hufflepuff. Derek put on some garden robes for the class.

Just then, Professor Sprout arrived and got everyone's attention.

"Afternoon class and welcome to your first Herbology class. Today, we are gonna learn the Fire-Making Charm spell. This charm, true to its name, conjures a flame on just about any surface. This spell will be useful against all matter of dangerous plants and more." Sprout explained.

Derek was given a few slaps of 2x4 wood and they practiced the spell. Derek said the incantation: Incendio, and a large flame emerged from the wood, causing it to turn to ash.

"Excellent work Mr. Night. Take ten points to Ravenclaw for making a perfect flame." Sprout said with a warming smile. (See what I did there?)

His final class, Astronomy, came later that night. Derek saw this as the golden opportunity to not only get some work done, but also to do a quick experiment with the Sun Shining Charm just as the sun was setting.

He arrived at the grounds so he can do the test. He pulled out his wand and aimed it at the nearby forest.

"SOLARIA!" He shouted. A powerful ray of light blasted out of his wand and he created light similar to that of the sun. He dimmed the spell and smiled at his experiment working just fine. But when the weekend would come, that will be the final test.

"OY!" Someone shouted nearby. Derek looked over and he saw Hagrid walking towards him. "What are ye doin out here? It's nearly night." Hagrid asked him.

"Sorry Professor Hagrid. I was just doing one quick experiment with a spell for something this weekend. I'll be off now." Derek said before putting his wand away.

"Ye best. They're ain no creature out here tha is dangerous." Hagrid said.

"No doubt about that. Good night Professor." Derek said as he turned back towards the castle to get ready for Astrology.

When midnight came around, he arrived at the tallest tower of Hogwarts and he had his telescope and star chart. His instructor, Professor Sinistra, arrived and was in the center of the class.

"Good evening students. Welcome to your first lesson of Astrology. My name is Professor Sinistra, and tonight we will be studying the star, constellations, and the planets." Sinistra said as she began the lecture.

Derek was actually quite enjoying this. He was enjoying the studies of the constellations and the alignment of the planets. He had always wondered how things worked beyond space, and this was quite the lecture.

For the duration of that week, he focused on his work, and of course spent some time out on the grounds to soak in some rays. Orphelia often flew onto his shoulder to give him some company and love.

When the last class of Friday was over, this was the opportunity to speak to Lupin. He headed towards his class and saw him putting some things away and moving things off to the side. Lupin saw him enter and smiled.

"Mr. Night, how can I help you?" Lupin asked as he went to a desk and Derek approached him.

Derek breathed as he was ready to ask Lupin what he discovered and hoped he would listen.

"I was hoping that I can do a little experiment." Derek answered.

"What kind of experiment?" Lupin asked once again.

"Well…first off there's a bit of a confession that I need to tell you. Do you recall in our first class how I was squinting, and I was rubbing my eyes?" Derek asked.

"I do recall that, and you thought it was just the dust in the air." Lupin said.

"Well about that...I partially lied." Derek admitted to him. Lupin looked at him with confusion. "You see, my eyes have magic unimaginable. During that lecture, my eyes were detecting a blood curse within you. I soon found out that it was lycanthropy." Derek added.

Lupin looked at him with shock that he discovered what he had.

"Don't be ridiculous Mr. Night. What you're doing is just wasting your time. Please move along, or I will deduct points from Ravenclaw." Lupin insisted as he continued his work.

Derek knew that this was gonna happen. He then looked towards the hanging skeleton above them and fired a pulse from his eyes right at the head, causing it to sway around in the air and dust fell it. Lupin saw this and froze up from what he did.

"Okay you've gotten my attention." Lupin said as he looked back at Derek.

"After doing a bit of digging around and realizing that these magical powers are very effective against dark creatures, I came to an idea that these powers can destroy the blood curse within you, theoretically curing you once and for all. I was maybe wondering if maybe you would like to help me test this theory." Derek requested.

Lupin was beyond shocked at the moment. He had been cursed with turning into a werewolf since he was just a child. For decades, he had to endure the pain, the torture, the horror of maintaining the life of a werewolf. There was light in all of it though: his supporting family, and his closest friends at Hogwarts during his youth.

But now…now was very likely the chance he had been waiting for.

"Very well Mr. Night. Let's give it a whirl." Lupin said.

Derek closed his eyes for a bit. When he slowly opened them, the center of his pupils began glowing bright purple.

"I guess I should apologize to you in advance in case I hurt you. Hopefully, this won't take long." Derek said before looking straight at the scars on Lupin's face.

"I'm sure that there're worst pains. I should know, for about thirty years have I've been a werewolf and there hasn't been one night where it wasn't painful." Lupin said.

'Plutonia, can you help make sure that I target the scars?' Derek asked her.

'No problem. This is one of the things I am capable of doing, but only for emergencies.' Plutonia spoke as she helped focus his sight onto the scars.

Derek then fired small purple beams at the scars and begun tracing them.

"This is actually quite the warming feeling, soothing even." Lupin said with his eyes close as the beams began going across this face.

"Don't get use to it. Just let me know if you're starting to hurt and I'll stop." Derek said just before finishing tracing the first scar.

Derek began tracing the other scars on his face until he finally finished. The scars began glowing, and soon enough Lupin's body begun glowing. Lupin began to feel strange as the light began to intensify at the chest. Derek got out of the way while pulling out of his wand.

Just then, a spirit of a wolfish creature shot out of Lupin's body, forcing him backwards and fell flat onto his back. The werewolf spirit ended up on the other side of the room. It slowly got up and snarled at Derek, who raised his wand at it.

"You could use a little sunlight. SOLARIA!" Derek screamed with anger. The wand shot out a blast of sunlight right at the spirit.

The werewolf howled in pain as the ray on sunlight bathed upon its body, causing it to disintegrate as sunlight and werewolves don't mix. Lupin saw what was happening, and his eyes were wide as dinnerplates.

After a little while, the spirit was completely gone, and Derek ended the charm. After looking back at Lupin, he was slowly getting up.

"How are you feeling Professor?" Derek asked while putting his wand away.

"I feel…a bit off. But I do feel like something was ripped out of me, but it doesn't hurt. But what do we do now?" Lupin asked while holding his chest.

Derek was in a bit of thought of that. There was only one thing that came to mind, and he knew that Lupin wasn't gonna like it.

"The final test…moonlight exposure." Derek said with a bit of worry.

"I feared as much. Unfortunately, the next full moon isn't for a couple more weeks. We'll have to wait for the end of the month for that." Lupin said.

"Alright. I highly doubt anyone will just let me be a part of this test. Unless you can think of a way." Derek said while he was thinking.

"I'll contact the headmaster and Professor Snape for this very reason. Professor Dumbledore is definitely going to be the first. If this works, I'll owe you a life debt." Lupin said while smiling.

Derek was a bit shocked. Sure a few people owed him favors in the past, but nothing like this. He couldn't accept that.

"Tell you what, how about we just go with the old, 'you owe me one.' That'll do just fine." Derek suggested.

"Very well. I'll contact you if something else comes up in terms of side effect wise." Lupin said before returning to his desk. "In the meantime, I suggest we keep this to ourselves." Lupin added.

"Of course, we can't take any risks at the moment. See you next class professor." Derek said as he left.

For the next couple weeks, Derek kept a close eye on Lupin's health. The blood curse was nowhere to be seen. This however was something that, despite seeing all positive results, he couldn't take any risks. He got a letter from Lupin saying that it would be wise that the stayed inside come the end of the month when the full moon rose. He responded back that he will at least be up in case if he was needed. He mentioned that he will wait till midnight until going to sleep.

When the end of September arrived, Lupin, Dumbledore and Snape went outside by the Forbidden Forest for the final test.

"Remus, I hope you realize what you're doing. With the evidence shown, it could be worst for you in case if something goes wrong." Dumbledore said to him in a very serious tone.

"Albus, I'm fully aware of it hence the reason we are by the forest." Remus said.

"Personally, I, too, find it unusual that we are out here for this test Remus. However, if what you say is true, many would want to hear the story of how it happened with you and Night. If Night's eyes were capable of this kind of magic and healing, perhaps maybe I can help study the essences of his eyes." Snape said.

"Severus, it's time." Dumbledore said as the full moon began to show itself and bathed its light onto them.

Remus closed his eyes and prepared for the pain that he was all too familiar with. Albus and Snape had their wands out in case if he did transform.

However…nothing happened.

Remus opened his eyes slowly and looked down at himself and at the moon. He felt the same as he did. His body remained the same and showed no sign of Lycanthropy.

"I…I don't believe it. It worked…IT WORKED!" Remus screamed with happiness.

Dumbledore and Snape were both very shocked and rather confused. Now they were very curious as to what Derek had used on him, especially Snape.

Meanwhile, Derek was standing by the window at the Ravenclaw Common Room looking at the moon bathing its light onto the ground. Derek knew that this was going to be the biggest part of the test.

Just then, the door opened, and Dumbledore entered. Derek looked and saw the headmaster.

"Ah professor. You've come at last." Derek said while smiling.

"Mr. Night never have I thought I lived to see the day when a cure for Lycanthropy would be found. Professor Lupin is quite the happy guy right now." Dumbledore said with a smile.

"So then we can safely confirm that the final test was successful?" Derek asked while getting excited.

"Indeed. Professor Snape wondered if he could get essence of your eyes if possible." Dumbledore requested.

Derek was in thought. This was kind new to him.

"I'll see what I can do. Just give me until tomorrow. I'll figure something out." Derek said. Dumbledore nodded and he began to leave. Derek then looked back outside and smiled bigger. 'Plutonia, is there a way for that?' He asked her.

'Well there is one way. However, there is a catch. The more essence that is given, the longer you won't be able to use your powers.' Plutonia explained with concern in her voice.

'You mean that if I release more of this, I could lose my powers?' He asked when he lost his smile.

'Not really, it'll be gone for a very long time. According to my ancestor who did this, she had to wait over a year to use her powers again after giving away her essence of her eyes for over two months straight.' Plutonia explained more.

'Dually noted. Perhaps I should take this on a different approach.' He said while thinking it through.

With a plan, he visited Professor Snape the moment he had a chance. When the hooked nose teacher took noticed, he slowly stood up.

"Mr. Night. I take it you found a way?" He asked while Derek approached him.

"Indeed. But there is one catch." Derek said before he explained to the Potions Master of what he learned.

"I see." Snape said as he picked up a vial. He positioned it right by the edge of his eye. "Do what you need to do." He said.

Derek tilted his head a bit and his eyes glowed a bit. Glowing light purple essence poured out of his eye and into the vial. Once it was filled with the essence, Snape stored it away for the time being.

"Hopefully, that should be enough for you to look into. If it does have other healing substance, it can do wonders at hospitals." Derek said.

"Madam Pomfrey and I will know more when we learn of it. Be ready for more potential extractions Mr. Night." Snape said while looking into the vial.

"Of course. Just to let you know, according to a rather…personal resource, I can only do so much at a time." Derek informed him.

"We'll send you a letter regarding if we need more just in case." Snape said.

"Very well. I'll be on my way now." Derek said as he left.

The very next week, Derek got a letter from Snape that he and Madam Pomfrey discovered more of what a single vial could do as a healing ingredient for certain potions and even botany. A few representatives were recently contacted as they wanted to have about a dozen vials of his eyes essence to not only use for healing, but to potentially harvest into ingredients for potions. Derek agreed, but explained to them of the reminders of how much he can give, otherwise he might be drained of it for a very long time.

Derek was informed to head for the hospital wing where it was from there where he met Madam Pomfrey and the representatives of St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. They had a dozen vials ready to go for his magical essence. It took some doing, but he was able to give them the amount they needed. It came at a cost however, as he was unable to use his powers for over two weeks, but he was able to make do without them.

The news of the cure to Lycanthropy spread like wildfire all around the world about a couple weeks later. Many wizarding hospitals from around the world were able to get harvested ingredients and plants to tend to not just Lycanthropy, but for other blood curses, deadly jinxes, and more. The Daily Prophet stated that this was the one of the biggest discoveries of all time, and all the credit went to Derek. Although Derek believed that he didn't deserve all of it though as he wanted Lupin, Snape, Dumbledore, and Madam Pomfrey to have a fair share.

He sat down with several people of the Daily Prophet answering a few questions and even posed for a few pictures one day. He, however, stated that how he was able to do this was something that only he can do and wanted to keep this hushed up.

He had been getting a handful of letters for the next week from many families who had to live a hard life as werewolves. One of the letters he received was from Damocles Belby, the inventor of the Wolfsbane Potion. He stated to him that he was able to get a bit of his essence and the potion worked better than ever. He gave him credit for including this new ingredient to the potion.

It was clear that Derek had become a big celebrity that was about to rival Harry Potter himself.

Lupin often invited Derek over for tea where they talked about many things, and even Lupin giving him information about potential topics. One day, he met Harry Potter for the first time and the Grindylow from the side in a tank really freaked him out. He and Harry got along well, and even got into a few good laughs.

One day, Derek was reminded to take part of Ravenclaw's first Quidditch match against Hufflepuff that year courtesy of Cho, who revealed to be Seeker of the team. Derek graciously accepted the reminder.

"My parents, grandparents and great-grandparents were Quidditch stars back in their day. Time to see what it's like." Derek said with excitement.

"You'll love it." Cho said.

Derek soon enough joined his fellow Ravenclaw's to watch his very first Quidditch match of the season for Ravenclaw. He was watching the three Chasers, two Beaters, the Keeper, and the Seeker do their jobs while Madam Hooch was refereeing the match. He was so much into it that it hit him that this was what he wanted to do: continue on in his ancestor's footsteps as a Quidditch star.

Later on that year during a match between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, Derek was in the center of the group watching things carefully. Derek took noticed that Harry had a new racing broom called the Firebolt, which was the fastest model yet. Derek was led to believe that he had the advantage.

Just then, some people began to scream, including Cho as she pointed down. Two Dementors were floating towards Harry.

Derek got angry and began charging his eyes. Meanwhile, Harry pulled out his wand at the very sight of them.

"EXPECTO!" Harry shouted.

"PRISMATIC!" Derek shouted as well as his eyes got brighter.

"PATRONUM/PULSE!" They shouted at the same time.

Harry's wand erupted with a blast of silver magic while Derek fired a beam from his eyes. The magic was being shot at the Dementor closest to Harry. The magic struck each other right in front of it.

A powerful explosion of magic caused from the chain reaction of the two spells. It caused a powerful shockwave that caused not only the Dementor's to be shot backwards and hit the ground, but also caused several players to get clear of the blast. Several spectators and players looked at Derek as they saw what he was capable of, while others were looking at the Dementor's on the ground.

Or…so they all thought.

It was revealed to be Draco Malfoy, Vincent Crabbe, Gregory Goyle, and Marcus Flint, the captain of the Slytherin Quidditch team. They were on the ground barely conscious.

"What the hell"? Oliver Wood, captain and Keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch team yelled when they saw the four boys on the ground.

From the distraction of what was happening, Harry and Cho raced for the snitch. Sadly, Harry got to the snitch before Cho did, ending the match.

Many spectators, including Derek, stormed the field. For Derek, he ran towards the four boys that played that unworthy trick on Harry. They were struggling to get up after that nasty collision to the ground, crippling and breaking a few parts of their body. McGonagall arrived and scolded them of their actions.

"Nice shot on your end Mr. Night. Very well done. Fifty points will be rewarded to Ravenclaw for your heroic action." She said with a smile.

"Thank you, professor." Derek said with pride.

"As for you four, I hope you realize that this stunt to sabotage the Gryffindor Seeker has costed you lot more than you think. Fifty points will be taken from Slytherin, the four of you will receive detention for the next few months, and Flint and Malfoy, I will be discussing with Professor Dumbledore and Snape of whether if you'll be continuing with Quidditch this year. Ah, here they come now." McGonagall spat at them.

Derek saw Dumbledore and Snape making their way towards them.

"Quick thinking on your part Mr. Night." Dumbledore said.

"I guess there is more to your magic than we thought." Snape said in agreement. "As for you two, I think a very suitable punishment is in order." He added when he turned towards Flint and Malfoy.

"D…dammit." Flint was able to say until he lost conscious.

Many other spectators rushed towards them, including Harry and Lupin. Harry and Derek looked towards each other and grinned.

It was later confirmed that Flint and Malfoy were banned from Quidditch for the duration of that year for what they've done. This gave the other house teams the advantage for the rest of the season. This even made Hufflepuff face against Gryffindor in the Quidditch cup that year, much to the dismay to Slytherin.

As Derek's first year of Hogwarts continues to be this successful, things were going straight forward academically. Sadly, things were brought to a halt when they learned that Sirius Black infiltrated the castle and tried and failed to kill Harry. Little did Derek realize that there was more to this than meets the eye. How will Derek manage that? Will Derek learn more of what his magic can do aside from making jinxes disappear, cure blood curses, and repel dark creatures? Find out more next time as the story continues.

This one was a rather challenging chapter I will admit. Fortunately, after rereading a certain part of the book, I got myself straightened for a majority of the chapter. Thank you all so much for reading as always. Like said in my recent update for you guys, updating this story and my other story might be a bit scarcer since I've become the co-author of a Xenoblade Chronicles 2 story. Next time…I think it's time we look more into a rather secret that has been hiding from the world for too long. If you all read the book, then you'll know what's next. TheD-Rock900 is signing off. See you guy's next time.
