Callie and Arizona reached the restaurant in another 30 minutes; after releasing their taxi, they went in.

"Good evening, miss; how can I assist you today" Todd, the host, said to both women.

"Table for two under Robbins," Arizona said to the host.

He looked into the list and escorted them to the table upon finding the name. The location of their table was perfect, near an all-glass wall that had an excellent city view. They sat, and the waiter came in with wine and a menu. Arizona declined the wine as she was on pain meds, and Callie proceeded to have a red one.

"So, Dr. Torres, tell me something about you," Arizona asked once the waiter left with the order.

"Well, I am a fourth-year residence doing a fellowship in Ortho" Callie began to tell her story. "I came to Seattle when I started my internship, and I went to Miami University for med school… and that's where I am from…."

"OH, Sunny Florida! Nice… big change, "Arizona replied

"Yup! Still getting used to the chill."

"I can understand… settle weather is not for everyone… but I somehow love it," Arizona said

"Have you lived here all your life?" Callie asked

"Umm ... no, I'm from Missouri, but I lived all over the world till I was 17," Arizona replies, "you see… my father was a Marine, now retired; we used to change places almost every year… SO far, I have lived in Japan, Germany, France, England, Italy, Colorado, Baltimore, and finally back to Missouri, where they now live. Arizona said, counting all the places on her fingers.

"Wow! That's… wow."

"Yeah, well, it sounds better than it is… because of constant moving around, my brother and I could never make many friends, so we were each other buddies while growing up… I used to idealize my brother so much that I enrolled in Army a year after he did."

"Oh! You served?" Callie exclaimed in surprise, almost spitting her wine out.

Arizona chuckled lightly. "Yeah, why?"

"Oh, nothing… it's just… you are bit…. Ahem…" Callie struggles to find the correct word, "intimidating."

"Intimidating? Why?"

"Well, first you served in the army, and now you are this hard-core FBI agent with this powerful look and personality…." Callie said, blushing at the last part

Arizona threw her head back, laughing. "I am no such this Calliope… I am just a regular person... plus you are a doctor… how is that any less… you save lives on a regular basis" Callie smiled and shrugged but didn't say anything.

Callie kept feeling this pull towards the blond, which she couldn't understand. They stayed in comfortable silence while the waiter served them their food.

Once the food was served, the conversation started again. Callie told Arizona about her family, which comprises her mother, father, and older sister Aria, who still lives in Miami and handles their dad's business. She further told her how it was challenging to come out to the super religious Catholic family. Her parents are still indifferent toward her, but her sister is a big-time Ally. Arizona gave an empathetic squeeze to Callie's hand, which was on the table.

After the meal, Arizona ordered the dessert for both of them; for Callie, it was called Hot temptation, a hot chocolate brownie topped with Vanilla ice cream and roasted almonds and hot chocolate sauce drizzled on top of it. She ordered a cheesecake.

Just as Callie took the first bite of the dessert, a loud moan escaped Callie's mouth. Arizona was about to take her bite when she saw the look on Callie's face and heard the moan that followed. The combination made Arizona squirm in her seat, a blush spread on Arizona's chest and ears, and she looked at Callie with raised eyebrows and gaped mouth, spoon still in her hand in between and plate and mouth.

Arizona was still staring at her when Callie opened her eyes and looked back. "Umm… is there something on my face?" Callie asked consciously

"What… ahem… did you say something?" Arizona asked, breaking out of her trance.

"I asked… is there something on my face?"

"Oh… mm... no… you are fine," Arizona stuttered.

"So why were you looking at me like that?"

"It's nothing," Arizona said, blushing.

"it's not nothing… come on, tell me," Callie said, placing a hand over Arizona's, making her heart skip a beat.

"You…" Arizona said but found her mouth dry; she gulped before speaking again, "You…. really seems to…. enjoy … your dessert there."

"Oh yeah, it's so good-" Callie said but realized what she had just done. Instead of getting embarrassed, a naughty smile spread on her face.

"What?" Arizona asked

"Heard something you like?" Callie asked, raising her eyebrow

Arizona didn't say anything; she just smiled and shook her head, flustered.

Callie enjoyed making 'always so confident and assertive Arizona Robbins' rattled. Arizona looked at Callie's face and caught up with her game.

She smirked, picked up the ice water glass, said, "Oh yes… very much… I was just thinking that I would like to hear this sound again in the near future," and took the sip and winked.

Now it was Callie's turn to get flustered. She understood the underlying implication, but she acted innocent.

"Why? Are you planning to have this dessert too" Callie said, squinting her eyes.

"Oh, I plan to have the dessert… just not this one," Arizona replied, staring intensely into Callie's eyes.

"Damn, she is good," Callie thought.

"Quite sure of yourself there? Huh, Agent Robbins?"

"Dr. Torres, I never underestimate my ability, and neither should you."

"Oh, so you are sure of your ability to make me moan," Callie said with complete confidence, hoping that the directness of her question with throw Arizona off.

"Yeah, there is a cheesecake shop which is even better than this," Arizona said, pointing at their late.

"Cheesecake?" Callie asked, confused with the sudden change in conversation.

"Yeah, that's, is my incredible ability to choose the dessert… it will surely make you moan," Arizona said with a neutral and innocent expression "why, what did you think?

Callie struggled with the words, now embarrassed. "Ah... nothing… I just-" she tried to explain but then stopped when she looked at the expression on Arizona's face, realizing that she was played.

Arizona was supporting the smug look on her face with a crooked smile.

"You-" Callie said, chuckling.

"What? What did you think?" Arizona teased, acting innocent again.

"Arizona! Shut up and eat," Callie said, glaring at Arizona

"Oh, I am planning to," Arizona said under her breath but loud enough for Callie to hear

"Arizona!" Callie exclaimed with wide eyes.

"WHATTT! I plan to eat my dessert," Arizona said, shrugging her shoulder.

"Oh My God! You are so naughty," Callie said, amused and shocked, making Arizona laugh loudly.

After dinner, they took the cab back to Callie's place. They stood in front of Callie's building, both not wanting to go nor wanting to seem clingy. They stood there fumbling with their keys and playing with her fingers.

"Umm, would like to walk for a while," Arizona asked

"Yeah…" Callie said quickly," uhh…but your leg?" She asked, pointing as Arizona's cast

"Oh, it doesn't hurt," Arizona said, shrugging her shoulder

"Arizona! I told you, you have to be off your foot for two weeks, and it has not even been a week yet," Callie said, glaring at Arizona. "You know, you won't get your an ice cream now," she added jokingly

"Well, a walk with you is worth that's sacrifice," Arizona said with a wink

There it was again, butterflies; since Callie met this blond, she frequently felt butterflies fluttering in her stomach. A mere touch, a sweet gesture, or even a wink can do this. Callie hated herself to have feelings like this so soon but also loved this new sensation.

"As your a date, I am flattered, but as a doctor who put this cast on your leg, I strongly disapprove," Callie said, squinting her eyes.

"Ah, Calliope… you are no fun." Arizona pouted

Callie laughed at Arizona's antics "tell you what, we can walk for a short while…. If you hold my hand the whole time," Callie suggested

Arizona grinned like a child with her favorite candy. "Well, that's an excellent incentive."

Callie laughed again at Arizona's childlike expression, "the hand holding is strictly for you so that you don't put your weight on your leg."

Arizona nodded rapidly, "okay," and extended her hand for Callie to grab.

"Where is your cane, may I ask?"

Arizona squinted her eyes, and with a simper, she said, "it is very safely kept near the door in my room."

Callie just shook her head "you are such a troublemaker."

"Ya! but a cute troublemaker," Arizona said, still grinning from ear to ear."

"Very cute," Callie whispered, but Arizona heard it.

They walked on the sidewalk near Callie's house, holding hands and enjoying the weird sensations their bodies were experiencing.

"So, what department are you in, FBI?" Callie asked, starting the conversation.

"OOOHH! I can tell you," Arizona said, looking at Callie seriously, "but then I l have to kill you."

"Wha-" Callie was confused with the serious expression on Arizona's face. "I understand if it's confidential; you don't have to tell me; I didn't mean to pry. I just…"

"I am KIDDING," Arizona said, stopping Callie's rambling "Calliope, I am just kidding… it's not so confidential…. I am in counterintelligence," Arizona noted. When the look of question didn't leave Callie's face, she explained, "Basically, its division of the National Security Branch protects the United States against foreign intelligence operations and espionage. We try to prevent foreign intelligence agencies from gathering and collecting intelligence. Investigation of media leaks and insider threats."

"Wow… that's… that's hot," Callie replied shyly, making Arizona laugh loudly.

"Well… good to know," she said with a wink.

They went back to the comfortable silence again for a while, cold winds were seeping under their coats, but none of them attempted to end the date.

"Why bones?" Arizona asked after a while

"Actually, I wanted to be a neurosurgeon; when I started med school, I was dead set to go into neuro… in my intern year, I primarily focused on neurosurgery, but during my 2nd-year residency, I worked under a brilliant surgeon, who showed me the wonders of ortho. I was working under her when a 17-year-old came to the hospital with VATER syndrome…" now it was Arizona's turn to look confused.

"Oh, the VATER syndrome is when a child is diagnosed with congenital disabilities in three or more body parts. One of her defects was severe scoliosis that had left her unable to walk upright. She was in the hospital to have kidney stones removed and a few ribs to relieve the pressure on her lungs. She'd also had two previous spinal fusions. Dr. Clair Patterson, the doctor I was working under and the neuro, was called for a consult. Dr. Patterson suggested she could remove the curved portion of her spine and replace it with a mesh cage, getting her to walk upright. She also informed that there was a chance of paralysis, but Heather- the patient, said she wanted the surgery. After her surgery, she was able to stand up and walk with a walker. The look on her face was amazing and so satisfying that I decided to go into Ortho. All specialties are great, but the happiness you see in your patient's eyes when you watch them walk for the first time or pick up their child… is worth living for." Callie was so lost in the retelling of the story that she didn't realize how intently Arizona was looking at her. When their eyes met, Callie shied away a little.

"Wow! I mean, the story was amazing, but the look on YOUR face was even better… I can see that you completely love your job," Arizona said, smiling.

"Well… yeah," Callie said meekly. She didn't know why she was feeling so shy, but the look Arizona gave a mixture of amusement and desire to make Callie squirm a little.

"Enough about me," Callie said, "You say… what happened that day when you all came wounded to the hospital."

"Oh, that… well… that's an ongoing investigation, so I can't share many details," Arizona said apologetically, "it was an unfortunate incident…but I promise to tell you once it's over… Sorry"

"Hey… no need to apologize… I understand," Callie said, smiling. "I am just glad all of you were okay."

"Yeah… I am glad that at least something good came out of that blunder," Arizona said, smiling brightly. "You are here with me."

Again, Callie smiled shyly "damn it! Why does she have this effect on me?"

They walked for a while until Callie noticed the wince on Arizona's face whenever she took a step, and Arizona noticed the shiver in Callie's body to freezing wind.

"I think we should head back," Arizona said

"Yeah, I was about to say the same thing… I noticed your wincing while walking." Callie replied

"Oh, that's fine… but I see you are shivering, and I don't want you to get sick before for next date."

Callie was taken back by the boldness, but her heart leaped in joy inside her chest. "There is gonna be a second date?" She asked with a smirk.

"Wouldn't there be?"

"There would be… for sure." With that, both women turned towards Callie's house.

Arizona walked Callie to her gate. "I guess I'll take your leave now," She said reluctantly.

"Ahem… yeah," Callie said, playing with her keys, "unless… you want to… umm… come in… for a coffee or something.

Arizona raised one eyebrow, suggestive teasing, "something?"

"Shit… no... I mean… I didn't mean that…I mean coffee …you know because it c-c-cold… that- that's all I meant," Callie stuttered in horror.

Arizona felt a little bad for making Callie flustered like this but enjoyed the blush creeping on Callie's cheek "Calliope, I just teasing you… I am sorry… I knew what you meant"

Callie releases an audible breath "God! You ARE naughty," Callie said, making Arizona laugh even more.

They stood there for seconds, neither leaving nor saying anything.

"So… I should leave now," Arizona said meekly.

"mhmm," Callie said almost in a whisper.

As Arizona turned around and took a few steps, Callie's face fell, and a pout formed. "You could have taken SOME initiative and kissed her, "Why are you such a coward?" Callie berated herself internally while putting the key in the keyhole. Just when she was about to open the door, Arizona's voice stopped her.

"Callie"

She turned around and watched Arizona walk toward her slowly with a limp "huh?"

"Don't punch me…." Arizona said, coming close to Callie, "but I waited a whole week to do this," With that, she moved the palm to the side of Callie's face, tangled her fingers in the black locks, and captured her lips with her own.

Callie's heart skipped several beats when the intoxicating smell of Arizona's perfume filled her nostrils, and her lips' softness surrounded hers in an earth-shattering kiss.

Never in their life have they felt a kiss like this. They now know what authors write about the perfect kiss in a romance novel. A kiss that was so passionate that it could take your breath away but yet so gentle that you would rather die than breakaway.

Callie's hand snaked to the back of Arizona's hair as she pulled her to herself, grazing her tongue over Arizona's lower lip, asking for access, which was granted immediately. If they thought that the kiss till now was mind-blowing, the connection of their tongues took it to another level. As their tongues explored each other's mouths, the waves and waves of arousal went down to their core.

"I sho- should—go," Arizona breathed out, panting, not wanting to overstep the boundaries but not wanting to go either.

Callie nodded, "mhmm," but didn't let go and instead pulled her into another searing kiss. The force of the pull made them stumbled a little, and Callie's back was against her front door with Arizona pressed up against her front. They kissed passionately until the air became necessary.

"Woah," Arizona said, breaking the kiss and coming up for air.

Callie visibly swallowed and nodded, unable to form any word, panting heavily.

They were still in the same position, looking deeply into each other's eyes, deciding whether they should go for another kiss or not.

"I really should go now," Arizona breathed out "otherwise, I won't be able to control myself, and I want to do everything right with you…I hope you understand," She said, making Callie smile lovingly.

"I do…" Callie nodded "even though all I want to do is kiss you again, I know it won't be the end of it… and… and I want to do things right with you too." She said, letting go of the collars of Arizona's blazer. Arizona pushed herself off Callie, straightened her clothes, and readjusted her sling.

"I had a fantastic time with you," Arizona said

"I had a great time too… a perfect first date," Callie said

"I.. umm… gonna go now," Arizona replied, talking a few steps back.

"Text me when you reach home."

"Good Night, Calliope"

"Good Night, Arizona"

Arizona reached home after 20 minutes; she dropped a quick text to Callie and went to change for the night. Sleep alluded her as she lay down on her bed; all she could think about was the kiss she had just shared with that gorgeous brunette. She couldn't believe that the first kiss with a person could cause so many emotions to flow through. The reliving of the moment made Arizona restless but in a good way. After twisting and turning on her bed for around 30 minutes, she picked up her phone and texted Callie.

Arizona: Would I be a creep if I said that I can't stop thinking about that kiss and that it is keeping me awake?

On the other side, Callie was in the same state; she came back, took a shower, and went to bed to sleep, which was futile as whenever she closed her eyes, the smell of Arizona perfume and the taste of her lips infiltrated her thoughts. She was about to give up and switch on the TV when her phone dinged from the side table. She squealed with joy as she read the message and thanked God that none was here to hear her squeal. She quickly types the reply back.

Callie: If that's creepy… then it makes two of us 😉

Don't know what it was, but somehow this tiny conversation made them relaxed, and the long-awaited sleep finally engulfed them.
