"Torres! Open! Open the door, Torres. Open the door, or I'll keep knocking and potentially damage my multi-million-dollar hands" Mark yelled banging on Callie's apartment door.
After a few seconds Callie opened the door with puffy eyes, a red nose, and tissue in her hand. She didn't look at Mark and went to sit on the couch.
Mark stepped into the house and looked around. There were dishes in the sink and pizza boxes on the kitchen island. There was a blanket on the couch where Callie was sitting and scrunched up tissues.
"Hey Cal," Mark said calmly," What's wrong?"
"A…Ari… Arizona…chose… Eliza" Callie said between the sobs.
"What?
Callie swallowed before speaking again "Arizona chose Eliza".
"oh"
"I saw them outside Joe in embrace".
"Oh"
"She chose her not me".
"Oh"
"WOULD YOU SAY ANYTHING OTHER THAN "OH"?"
"I could if I knew what to say," Mark said softly "but I don't know what to do other than to give you a hug," Mark said opening his arms towards Callie.
She slid into his open arms and rested her head on his chest "Why she had to choose her?"
"I don't know Torres, but she made a wrong choice for sure and she will soon realize it."
"What's the point the truth of today is she is with her and I am not"
Look Torres the only thing I think you can do now is to forget about her and move on.
"How to do that?"
"It will take time but believe me it will happen"
Callie did not respond; she just kept looking at the far corner trying to figure out how to forget about the blond who has her heart.
the next day Callie woke up with determination, She was going to go to the hospital and not think about the one who must not be named.
She plastered the best smile she could muster and entered the hospital. By the evening she was proud of herself for thinking very less of Arizona. A few broken bones and surgeries also helped but now it was time to go home where she would be alone and the thoughts of blond were bound to come. So instead, she decided to go to Joe's after dropping a message to Mark to meet her there.
She was sitting at the counter sipping her scotch with a twist calmly when she heard a familiar but not welcoming voice.
"Dr Callie Torres!"
Callie turned towards the voice and saw Eliza Minnick standing in front of her, visibly drunk.
Callie just rolled her eyes and murmured "Of course it's you... I can't get the peace anywhere it seems".
"Huh!" Eliza said, trying to understand what Callie said.
Callie shook her head "What do you want Eliza?" Like you already don't have everything
"You must be-be very happ-ppy" Eliza slurred.
Callie frowned
"You won"
"Huh?!"
"You won... she... cho-choose you," Eliza said stumbling, Callie caught her before she fell and made her sit on the chair next to her and gestured for Joe to bring water
'What are you talking about?"
"Arizona... she didn't choose me this time she chose you"
Callie's mind was running wild. how is that possible she saw them hugging each other just yesterday?
"I never thought she would leave me... for... for anyone"
But she did and now I am left with this gaping hole in my heart... I lost the greatest person who ever loved me. because of my stupidity.
Callie still couldn't say anything. She was sitting there in a mixture of shock and surprise.
"I lost everything..." Eliza said quietly "You know she was the person who would spoil you with love and romance and gifts and most importantly with respect... you know"
Callie continued to be quiet and Eliza's words became incoherent
Callie's mind was racing "If Arizona is not with Eliza then why didn't she call? Is she done with her too? Is she done with relations altogether? Her not choosing Eliza doesn't mean she chose her.
All these questions were not going to get answered by themselves so for the first time, instead of jumping to the wrong conclusion Callie decided to confront Arizona and clear this out.
She threw some cash on the counter to cover her and Eliza's tab for the night instructed Joe to get Eliza a cab and made her way to Arizona's
...
Arizona was sitting on her couch going through the case file when she heard the knock on the door.
wondering who might that be she opened the door.
"Callie?" Arizona asked surprised,
"Can I come in?" Callie said, visibly panting.
"Of course" Arizona replied moving aside
Callie went into the living room and Arizona brought her water.
The whole way here Callie had a million lines going through her head. A million scenarios on how this was going to happen but now when she was in front of Arizona her mind was blank. All questions, snarky comments, and confessions went out of the window, and all she could do and look at those blue eyes she missed so much.
"How are you?" Arizona asked lightly,
"Fine" Callie replied. "... I guess... you?"
"Fine too... I guess"
Callie nodded but didn't say anything else.
"Weather is nice today not too crisp," Arizona said
"Why didn't you call?" Callie snapped. She didn't mean to but hearing Arizona talking about the weather did it.
"Huh?"
`Why didn't you call when you decided for me and Eliza?'
"Umm.. ah...well" Arizona struggled to speak "Hang on, how did you know?
"I saw you and Eliza hugging each other in front of Joe's the day before yesterday and I assumed you two were together but then I ran into Eliza today at the bar and she told me that you ended things or whatever it was with her?"
Arizona took a moment, it was too much information at a time "You ran into Eliza and she told you?"
"Yes, she was drunk and she let it slip in lines of I won because you...ahem... chose me over her"
"Oh"
There was silence between them for some time.
"Well?" Callie said after a while
"Umm... yes, I told her that I don't want to be with her ... and... and that hug you saw was me saying goodbye to her"
"So... it's over," Callie asked meekly
"It is"
"And... and you... you "
"Yes, Calliope I want to be with you," Arizona said smiling lightly "If you have me"
Callie smiled beamingly for a second and stopped suddenly "Why didn't you call me?"
"Huh?" Arizona asked confused by a sudden change of demeanor
"Why didn't you call or message me ?"
"Callie," Arizona said putting a comforting hand over Callie's "I didn't want you to think that you are like a rebound or anything." When Callie did not respond she continued "I wanted to give this time for both of us.. to make sure that when we start again it will last.
Callie smiled again this time it stayed on her lips.
"So? Arizona asked
"So what?"
"So ... umm... would you have me... Ahem... back."
Callie didn't reply with words instead she pulled Arizona into life life-affirming kiss.
The thrust of the kiss was strong enough to push Arizona who fell on the sofa with Callie on top of her.
"So I guess it's a yes?" Arizona asked between the kiss
"Hell Yes" Callie replied, capturing Arizona's lips once again.
