The shack isn't much but it does its thing. It keeps out the bad things and is my place to lay my head for now. My cloak is still a little damp but dried enough for me to wear. Wrapping it back around me and those weird trunks underneath I stand and watch the clouds go by. It's not raining anymore. Looking around the shack there isn't anything to eat yummy things on.

There's also a weird metal thing in the corner that has another weird metal thing on the outside. It looks like there's something you can put in it. It's like slices of something hard and ringed. Picking it up and looking at the metal thing, it's almost like you light it with something. There was a tiny box in one of the sliding containers in a table. My stomach growls and I look down at the solid thing in my hands.

I bring it up, it doesn't smell bad. It smells like trees. I wonder if it's good to...

Licking it, it tastes like wood, blegh!

There's glass in the windows. Glass hurts when it breaks.

"Ough..." I look around some more for something to eat. Getting something to keep going is pretty much a thing I need to survive. Easing open the door and finding a little rock to keep it from shutting, I begin to make my way out.

The sun shines warmly and the clouds are big and fluffy looking but instead of really dark they're white and the wind plays with my hair. The billowyness of my cloak is really fun too!

There's a bunch of pretty green leaves all over the outside of the shack. Later, they came to be known to me as ivy. Wandering around the area there's a river with a nice little lookout tree. Gently hopping and using Float to carry me further there's the feeling that this is going to be a good place. Seeing the small forest spread out below me with songs through the trees and something like water flowing through it all.

It's peaceful.

As I fly there isn't much going on. Going out of my shack I made sure to remember where it is by leaving a few marks on the trees as I pass them with some nibbles from my unwilling Shark Quirk.

In fact it pops out of my arm and tries to bite at me, "Aiiieeee!" I scream trying to will it back down. It yanks me down out of the air and into the ground with everything passing by like it was water. It moves fast and slams me around by the arm. It's mostly a rowdy thing and my Blackwhip lashes around it as it bursts us out of the ground. Sun and air hit me in the face and my throat rips out a screech.

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Just before we dive again my Blackwhip tightens and brings it into my body again. I fall to the ground with a heavy whump. My arms and legs sting and red stuff (blood) smears out of it.

"Eeehgh..." my voice grunts and I look down at the scrapes. Cleaning them off in the water even though it stings. I don't know how to keep them clean but then I notice my cloak could work.

I wrap more of it around my hands and they make little handwraps. The wind rises and makes my hair and cloak billow around me. The forest has noises and smells. My stomach growls and my tendrils immediately send me flying through the air towards a big lake I flew over earlier. When I get there the cool water laps against my feet. The end of my cloak spreads out and becomes darker from the water. My tendrils search the deeper water snatching fish and breaking them with slight tightening.

Then I eat them. The meat is soft and the blood and guts run down my chin. But my teeth are rather sharp and pointed. The Shark Quirk peeks out and chuffs. It gave me its teeth.

"Ahm." I nod at it and it grunts before returning to the rest of my quirks. I guess it gave me some leeway after earlier. That's when I realize looking into the sky...

I'm alone. No one else is around but the fish and the birds. They can't talk to me.

My quirks are cold and silent. Not one of them are actually mine. Nothing is truly mine.

Just my cloak is mine and I wrap it around myself and close my eyes. Smelling my own scent and wondering why. Why was I made? The wind rises and sends me billowing.

I leap into the air and fly almost as easily as I breathe. I catch fish with my tendrils almost like its normal. My steps aren't smooth and they shake and misstep all the time.

But all the same, as the days go by, I'm lonely. Going through the woods and gathering wood for the metal thing in the corner of my shack because I want to test it.

At least when I figure out how to set it on fire.

It's a lonely but almost easy life because of my quirks. I stay wrapped in my cloak with a full belly and a home of my own. At first it's a nice night of sleeping until it starts. I'm floating in a black void full of tiny lights of different colors. Well, only about eight of them and seven are cold. The Shark Quirk swims around me like it normally would and there's something else in the darkness.

A warm almost wet wind courses through me and the other quirks. Like my own quirk is alive and I'm just in it. It wants more. It's so empty and it needs more.

More.

More.

More.

More.

When I wake up I'm floating high above the trees with my tendrils out and my other quirks squirming around inside me. It's like they want to take more too. They're cold and alone, and I am too. That's when the Shark Quirk reminds me of its original owner. How he screamed as I ripped his quirk out of him. How I made it my own when it didn't want to be. It's too late to give it back even if I could but...

But it's never too late to change the reasons why I take quirks. Quirks are important to people so if I need to take one from someone I know... why not ask them once I learn how to talk? Maybe I should think about it some more. I float back down to my shack and my other quirks settle down. I hope they behave themselves while I fall asleep again. This time there're no nightmares.

The new day comes and I'm hungry again. My quirks pitch in and I'm heading back to the lake when my Danger Sense goes off because someone fell over a fence going back a little way from where my woods ended.

I sling into the air with my tendrils and let Float carry me further and off towards that fence, finding a girl my age crying her eyes out because she fell over it. I rush into action and fly much faster than before thanks to what I can only assume is Gearshift. I land with a skid but I'm good, seeing someone curled into a little ball and crying her eyes out.

The girl whimpers with her dark eyes scrunched into teary little lines. I float down and she lets out a soft whine. She's as young as I am as I've said before. She's also wearing a pretty blue dress and I rip off a length of my cloak. She sniffles and looks up at me Kneeling I tie it around her leg as she cries. She watches me as I tie it over and double layer it. It's the same part from earlier so there's more of a torn edge to my cloak. She's got long-ish black hair and it's pretty too. Just like her eyes when she's not squinting.

"Hm? Where d-did...?" she sniffles back more of her sad sounds, "Where did you come from?"

"Ah." Pointing back to my shack she peeks over me and smiles. She immediately stops crying and shoots to her feet with a big smile on her face.

"You live in the woods?!" she gasps, "Show me!"

"Auh n..." I shake my head no because I don't wanna show her. She leans closer.

"Why not? Are you lying?" she gets really weird, her voice drops and my quirks get ready to fight again but she backs off, "Well, it'd be weird if you were."

"Yuh." I nod and she tilts her head a little bit.

"Can you talk?" she wonders aloud.

"Nuh. Buuu... unndeee." I sound out clapping along with the sound, "Saaaannn."

"Oh! You can't talk but you can understand me!" she exclaims with a swell in her mood and she bows, grabbing the edge of her skirt.

"I'm Momo Yaoyorozu. My family lives on the other side of the fence." she raises her head with a smile, "And you're the boy in the woods."

"Hm." I bow and mimic her with my cloak. She giggles before she steps a little closer. In moments I'm back in the trees. My feet leaving a small dent in the ground because I wanted nothing to do with her.

The dream I had still sticks in my mind, more. It echoes. Momo follows after me and I still hop back onto another tree branch.

"N... n... n...!" I force out, "Fol... low!" my voice is soft and forceful. Trying to keep Momo away because my quirk wants hers.

"I'm not trying to scare you!" she calls up to me, "I just want to be your friend!"

"Fr... en?" I cock my head at that. Why does she want to be friends with me? She just met me and didn't even bat an eye at the fact that I have a/more quirk(s.) Of course I didn't know that one was common until later but...

"Yes!" she nods and walks to the bottom of the tree, "Friends always play games with each other and hang out together, they stick with each other through tough stuff and easy stuff."

Maybe instead of my quirk wanting to take whatever one she has. Maybe Momo is just answering that little request I had for a friend? Plus it sounds nice. I like nice things.

"Ni...ce." I mumble, hanging down off the branch with my hair and cloak falling spread out and my hands dangle, "Fren." I hold out one hand and she takes it.

"Friends." she says, "Don't you forget it."

"Mm."

She looks a little bit closer at my chest and legs, "Do you just wear that pretty cape and those trunks?" her question gives me a little bit of pause because why does she want to know?

I nod and swing myself back onto the branch, what else do I need to wear other than my cape and my trunks? I hop down and she looks a little closer. I still keep a little bit of distance between us.

"Your eyes are pretty too!" she exclaims, "I've never seen white eyes. Is it a mutation?"

What are those? Why are my eyes white? I thought they usually were? My shoulders go up in what I would later learn is a 'shrug.' She giggles and my cheeks get hot. Why are they hot?

"Well, in later seasons things get cold so I hope you get more clothes before then." she says, "Ah! Maybe I can help!"

I don't make a sound mostly because Momo is just going on and on about things I don't know about so I just nod along. Is that what friends do? Listen and nod along? Go along with everything?

We wander along, almost like we've always been meant to. My quirk's desire to take her's never existed. At least not right now. We wander through the woods and there's nothing to really fear. I show her the lake and the shack, and she notes them down in some kind of notebook she has. How'd she get that? Maybe it was that quirk my quirk wanted for a brief moment? We loop back around when I hear voices and she looks rather worried. She grabs my wrist and pulls me along behind her.

"Waaa!" I try to wrench my arm out of her hold because I didn't want to take whatever she has as a quirk. Just the chance of it happening is worse than it actually happening.

She stops running and looks back at me, "It's alright, I'm just taking you back with me." I shake my head so hard I'm a little dizzy from stopping. Momo looks a little hurt.

"Well you can't just live out here, can you?" she asks with that same kind look in her eyes. She's so kind to me and I want to know more about her but deep down there's this feeling that I'll eventually take her quirk.

Just like I took that Shark Quirk.

"G... G... o." I point to the end of the woods, "C... o... ba. S... o." I try to sound it out but I can never find the words. I hope I can one day. Momo nods and turns looking back over her shoulder.

"I'll see you later." she smiles and walks away. I watch her as she grows smaller and smaller in the distance still wearing my length of cloak. I smile.

I made a friend.
