Here's the next chapter.
I'm sorry to say that I can no longer accept any more Pokemon recommendations as I'm starting to lose track of them all and it would be unfair to those who have submitted Pokemon if I start forgetting them.
Once the 'Potential Pokemon List' is shorter I will start accepting them again. Thanks you so much those who have submitted requests. You have been a great help in the development of this story. Thank you for understanding.
All of Charles', Flo's, and Alice's Pokemon and their names can be found on my profile.
TurboDriver07 - Thank you for understanding.
I'm honestly so glad that the YouTube reference was alright. It's quite a common thing in shows to reference modern issues and many of them are quite...terrible, but it looks like I was worrying over nothing. I think Charles could use technology that he has either used a lot (like the pokedex), but he's completely oblivious to anything high tech. I can only imagine how he and Clement would interact with each other. I think Charles would lose his ability to speak to Pokemon just before the Indigo League and it's definitely going to be interesting. Thanks for reading.
SkullGreymonX - Yeah, I was afraid that I was making Charles faultless with him being wise and intelligent for his age. Being bad at something makes him a more rounded character and much more interesting. The Porygon episode was very fun to write and I really took a risk watching the original episode, because I had no idea if I was prone to seizures. Anything thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Djinn - Thanks so much. It's quite a shame what happened to Porygon, perhaps I can involve it more in the future.
pokemonking0924 - Thanks as always. Charles did face a lot of difficulties in this chapter, but, as you said, he managed to overcome them. I never considered the fact that he could destroy machines I might have to include that in the future. Although Team Rocket seem to have no trouble destroying their own machines. I'm focusing this chapter on the relationship between Charles and Titania and it's...going to be interesting to say the least. Thanks for reading.
Kunoichi69 - Marina is still very young and doesn't really know her strength yet. She has a lot to learn on her journey with the team. I'm so glad that you liked the re-written (less controversial) version of the Porygon episode. Both Porygon and Porygon2 were interesting to write and it also gave me an excuse to cram a bunch of sci-fi references in. Yeah, each team member has their faults as you said, but what Flo is bad at is a mystery for now. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy the next chapter.
BigEater - Thanks so much. I'm so glad you liked the battle despite the error. I thought it was better to put an author's note saying where I went wrong instead of not putting anything. I suppose you're right I can correct it later. I did check out the story you mentioned and it looked interesting. I never really played Kingdom of Hearts before so I was a little confused, but it was nothing a Google search couldn't fix. Thanks for reading.
Sonic07 - Yeah, but Marina will be more involved in the next few chapters and she will be watching the gym battle with Sabrina. You've summed up Charles bonding with Pokemon perfectly which I'm so happy to hear. Hope you like the next chapter. Thanks for reading.
Guest - You're right. I must do another Joy family reunion in the future. Or maybe a chapter where Charles has been invited to both Flo's and Alice's families reunions, but they happened to fall on the same day. That would be fun to write. Thanks for reading.
Guest (2) - That's another good reason. I suppose it's a combination of your reason and BigEater's. Thanks for reading.
DarthMonkey - Thank you and I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it, of course). You're theories are really good. I hadn't thought about Charles originally being a Pokemon, that would be quite the twist. However, your third theory is the closest to what I had in mind. I haven't seen the film yet as I am making my way through Sun and Moon at the moment.
Guest (3) - They definitely will, I promise. Right after Charles has a gym battle with Sabrina. I had completely forgot about the Princess Day episode, because I think it was one of the censored episodes. Anyway thanks for reading.
Thanks everyone for reviewing and I hope you like the next chapter :)
Chapter 25: Ill Met By Moonlight, Proud Titania
Pokemon Centre Room
It was the morning after they met Porygon and Porygon2 and Charles had informed the team will be spending one more day there before moving onto Saffron City. Flo, Alice and the other Pokemon didn't mind, of course, and Nurse Joy was more then happy to let them stay until tomorrow. The reason for their delayed departure was so Charles can get through to Titania and try to help her come to the decision of whether she wanted to stay with the team or not. Charles would be devastated if she left, but it was entirely her decision and he should respect that.
Now he laid on his bed wide awake with Benny asleep by his side. He had been up for hours trying to decided what he could do with Titania and he was having little success.
'One one hand, I don't want Titania to leave because I'm worried she will get hurt, captured or something much worse. Plus I know she's suffering after losing her siblings and the last thing I want to do is make her feel that I abandoned her,' Charles thought, 'On the other hand, it's her decision whether she wants to leave or not and I can't force her to stay. What am I going to do?' he moaned internally.
He sighed wearily and stared at the ceiling above him, 'Titania is...complicated and she's not like the rest of the team. She purposely avoids any sort of interaction unless I urge her. I guess that's why I have been paying her enough attention.' Suddenly his eyes lit up as an idea came to mind, 'Then why don't I spend the whole day with her. She will have my undivided attention. If she has a good time then she might stay, but she still wants to leave then... I guess I have precious memories with her before she leaves. And she can always come back. I better start plann-' he looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table and saw that it was five o'clock, 'Or maybe I should get a little more rest.'
Outside Pokemon Centre
Now that everyone was awake, Flo, Alice with Benny on her shoulder have gathered outside as Charles explained his plan to them.
"You want to spend the day with her?" Alice asked in surprise.
"Like the whole day?" Flo added.
"Yep," Charles happily replied, "I feel like I haven't been paying enough attention to her, so I thought we could do some activities together like hiking in the woods, going to the local cinema, working on her battle moves, then in the evening I can groom her and then we can have a slumber party," he explained as he imagined chibi versions of him and the eevee doing each of the activity with bright smiles on their faces, "She would definitely open up then."
("She will hate all of those activities,") Benny deadpanned, popping Charles' imaginations like a bubble.
Charles slumped forwards in despair, "I know, but I can't think of anything else."
His friends and brother shared a look of concern before smiling warmly at him, "Well, I think that sounds like a great idea," Flo said.
"You do?" Charles asked raising his head.
"Yeah," Alice piped up, "we'll support you in any way."
Charles looked at his brother who nodded in confirmation, (I'll explain what is happening to the other Pokemon. You two go and have fun.")
The trainer smiled confidently and took Titania's pokeball from his belt and turned around to release her.
"Alright, here goes- HEY!" Charles shouted as he noticed that all three had moved back by a few meters, "where are you guys going?"
They gave him sheepish looks, "Sorry, but we really don't want to face her wrath when you explain what you two are going to do today," Flo explained.
"What about supporting me?"
"We'll support you at a safe distance."
Charles rolled his eyes and released Titania from her pokeball. Once released, the eevee looked around lazily before giving Charles, who was crouching before her, an annoyed look.
("This doesn't look like the Corral,") she muttered.
"That's because it's not," Charles cheerily said with his eyes closed, "Titania, you and I are going to have a special day together. We're going to do a bunch of activities that I have planned. Just the two of us and nobody else has to come. How does that sound?"
He opened his eyes when he the sound of pokeball opening caught his attention. He looked to see that Titania had, in fact, entered her pokeball again without him noticing. He sighed and released her again, making sure the pokeball was out of her reach this time.
"Come on Titania, it's just for the day."
("I thought the plan was for me to go back to the Corral,") Titania spat before glancing at the others, ("and why are they standing around like a bunch of moronic sentret?")
"When it comes to Titania, her bark is just as worse as her bite," Flo sighed, sensing that the eevee had just insulted them.
Alice and Benny agreed reluctantly.
Charles gave his friends an apologetic look before turning back to the Pokemon, "I thought we would postpone you going back to the Corral."
("Why? So you can beg me to stay.")
"Of course not. If you want to leave then you can go. I won't stop you," Charles told her kindly, he noticed her flinch a little, "However, I just wanted to spend time with you, get to know a bit more and..."
("And what?")
Charles looked down sadly, "I don't know really," he admitted, "I haven't really been paying attention to you lately and I thought we could just spend the day together that's all. Then you can go back to the Corral...or you can just leave. Please Titania, just one day."
Titania looked away and frowned in concentration for a few seconds.
After a while, she sighed, ("You're such a pain. Fine. Whatever.")
"Great!" Charles cheered, happy that she had given him a chance, "We going to have so much fun."
The eevee grumbled to herself, already regretting her decision.
Flo, Alice and Benny chuckled at the sight of the two.
"That's so adorable. It's like a desperate father trying to spend time with his moody teenage daughter," Alice said with a humour filled smile.
The Forest
Charles and Titania walked down a dirt path, tree branches shading them the bright sun. The trainer smiled pleasantly as he gazed around the area, occasionally spotting a wild Pokemon resting, talking to each other, or traveling through the tall grass. He looked down at the eevee and frowned when he saw that she was staring miserably at the path.
"Isn't this nice," Charles gently said, "the fresh air, the sunny day, the Pokemon."
Titania groaned, ("What's the point of this? You do this every day?")
"No it isn't," Charles insisted, "what we do everyday is hike. What we are doing now is meandering."
("What's the difference?")
"We don't have our bag packs. We don't need to get anywhere. All we have to do is relax and take in the scenery."
("So pointless,") Titania muttered, causing Charles to hum in worry.
His attention was drawn away from the grumpy eevee when he heard loud stomps getting closer. They stopped when they saw a giant Pokemon coming out of the forest and across their path. It resembled a palm tree with two brown legs and a round brown body with thin black rings around it. It has thin, green leaves sprouting from the top of its body and three round, light yellow heads that resemble coconuts, each with different facial expression.
"Wow! An exeggutor," Charles exclaimed as he took out his pokedex, "I haven't seen one in ages."
Exeggutor: Legend has it that on rare occasions, one of its heads will drop off and continue on as an exeggcute.
"See this hasn't been-"
However, Charles and Titania should have been more careful where they stopped as they were standing before a giant muddy puddle. Before he could finish his sentence, the exeggutor stepped in the puddle with its giant foot and splashed both of them, coating them in a layer of mud.
The exeggutor hummed in surprise and looked down at the mud covered Charles and Titania.
("Oh sorry about that,") one of the heads said.
("I told you to look out,") the second head scolded the other.
("What!? No you didn't!") the third head cried.
("Yes I did.")
("Did not")
("Did to.")
("Did not.")
("Did to.")
As the two heads of the exeggutor continued to argue, Charles wiped the mud of his face and gave a fuming Titania a sheepish smile.
"Well-"
He stopped when she glared up him, fire blazing in her eyes.
("Get me out of here. Now,") she demanded darkly, shaking in absolute fury.
Charles quickly did what she asked.
Outside the Cinema
After getting cleared up, the trainer and the Pokemon were lining up to buy a ticket at the local cinema. After showing the posters that they were showing to Titania and the eevee had chosen the 'least worst looking one' according to her.
Charles was full of optimism that this activity will work out much better than the last one. The walk in the park was merely a setback. This time they were going to have fun.
"Are you looking forward to it? This is your first time you've been to a cinema," Charles asked the eevee at his feet.
("Oh yes, sitting in a dark room and staring at a screen for an hour. Sounds super great,") Titania sarcastically muttered.
"It's not that bad," Charles said with a small chuckle, "you might actually enjoy it."
Titania shrugged, ("I'm just going to sleep the whole way through.")
Charles frowned but noticed that they were next and stepped to the ticket booth.
"Hello, two tickets to see Regirocky IV, please," he told the teenager manning the booth.
The ticket salesman looked around in confusion, "Two tickets?"
"Oh right," Charles said in realisation before he picked up Titania and showed him her, "Do you do a discount on Pokemon?"
The ticket salesman glanced down at a miserable Titania before giving Charles a deadpanned look.
"Kid, you can't bring your Pokemon into the movie theatre."
"What?" Charles questioned, "Since when?"
"Since always."
Titania shot him a dull look, causing Charles to gulp nervously. That's one of the problems with being able to speak to Pokemon. You sometimes forget that are not humans and therefore different rules apply. However, Charles was not giving up.
"But she's really good and she won't cause any trouble. Look at her, she's just so sweet and adorable," he persuaded.
The ticket salesman looked at the bitter and miserable face of Titania before giving Charles a questioningly look.
"You may need to look past the bitter and miserable expression," Charles said with a sweat drop.
The ticket salesman looked at Titania again and hummed thoughtfully.
"Well, she is pretty cute," he mused, reaching his hand out to pet her head.
Charles eyes widened, "NO DON'T!"
CHOMP!
Café
A few streets away, Flo, Alette, Alice and Benny were sat at a table outside a small café, enjoying the the midday sun. Since they weren't traveling today, they thought they would keep themselves occupied. Flo sipped her tea whilst gently petting Alette's head while Alice devoured her slice of chocolate cake. Alette and Benny were also enjoying a plate of biscuits made just for Pokemon.
"How do you think Charles and Titania are getting along?" Flo asked her friend.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Before Alice could answer, a scream of pain rang out not to far away. They and few other residents turned in shock as the noise echoed across the small town. Flo and Alice blinked in surprise and shared concerned looks.
"You don't think that was-" Alice said.
"Without a single doubt," Flo sighed.
A Field
"Right," said Charles with a weary smile "so walking in the park didn't go so well and we are now...banned from that cinema...for life, but I have to admit those first two activities were flukes. Now the real fun begins."
Titania moaned miserably as she stood at his, ("Can you just please give up.")
"No, not yet. We still have the entire afternoon left," Charles insisted, "in fact, we have more time now because I thought we would spend at least two hours at the cinema but...you know what, never mind. We are now going to practise your battle moves on that tree stump," he said, pointing to said tree stump not to far away.
("Pass,") Titania muttered as she began to walk away.
However, she didn't get too far before Charles picked her up and faced her towards the stump again.
"Titania, please. I never seen you battle before. I'll just read out all the moves you can learn and we can work on them, okay?" he asked but only got a bored grunt in reply, "I'll take that as a yes. Right, let's start with the basics. Use Growl."
("Know it,") Titanian replied in a dull tone.
"Are you going to show me then?"
The eevee gave him an annoyed look, ("I thought trainers are supposed to trust their Pokemon,") she snarked.
Charles rubbed the side of his face tiredly, "Fine. What about Tackle?"
("Know it.")
"Tail Whip?"
("Know it.")
"Sand Attack?"
("Know it.")
"Quick Attack?"
("Know it.")
"Baby-Doll Eyes?"
...
...
...
"I'm just going to skip that one. Swift?"
Titania gave an annoyed sigh, ("Yes. I know that one. Are we done now?")
"Now hold on. What about non-physical attacks?" Charles suggested, "Like...like...oh like Charm. You'll make your opponents dazed and that way you can deal more damaging attacks."
Titania hummed in thought, considering the offer.
("Well...I suppose. I also don't know how to use Charm.")
"No surprises there," Charles mumbled under his breath.
("What was that?")
"N-nothing."
Titania sighed reluctantly, ("Fine, let's learn the move. What do I have to do?")
Charles chuckled, "All you have to do is act adorable."
...
...
...
("You have to be kidding me,") the eevee dryly said.
"Nope," Charles said, shaking his head, "It shouldn't be hard for you. All eevees are naturally cute," he remarked, ignoring her warning growl, "all you have to do is this." Charles lifted his right leg up and held his arms up in front of him, balling his hands into fists to imitate paws. He then closed his eyes, smiled gracefully, and cocked his head to the side in a cute pose. His background became bright pink with love hearts flying about.
"Aren't I just adorable?" he rhetorically asked in a squeaky, cutesy voice.
...
...
...
He opened his eyes and his face dropped when he saw a trainer and her growlithe staring at him from not to far. Charles' face grew red, coughed in embarrassment and dropped the pose.
"I was just...teaching my eevee...Charm," he called out to the trainer and her Pokemon.
They both gave him another odd look before continuing their way across the field. Charles hanged his head in defeat and humiliation before looking over to Titania who was giving an amused smirk.
"You knew they were there, didn't you?"
("Oh yeah.)
It took a couple of hours and many, many attempts, but Titania seemed to had got the hang of it. One of the reason it took so long was the eevee complaining that she looked stupid doing all the cute poses, but Charles encouraged her to keep on trying. Finally, Titania, convinced that she had nailed it this time, was ready to perform Charm for the last time. She stood on to her hind legs and held her paws under her chin. She cocked her head, gave the brightest smile she could muster and winked at Charles as love hearts surrounded her.
Charles gasped in joy at the scene. She was just too adorable.
"Titania that's so- oof!"
And then Titania used Tackle right into his stomach once he was distracted. Charles was knocked onto his back and groaned in pain as the eevee simply jumped off of him.
"That was unnecessary," Charles moaned, "But that was a good Tackle."
("Whatever,") Titania murmured before spotting something on the ground.
It was a small book which had fallen out of Charles' pocket as he fell. She couldn't read the writing on the front, but she judged by the eevee on the front cover that it was some sort of guide on her species. Curious, she flicked the book open with her paw and looked through the images and graphs as Charles made his way over.
"Oh you found it," Charles said as he sat down on the ground next to her.
Titania looked up from the book at him, ("Why do you have this?")
"I burrowed it from Nurse Joy. I thought we could read it together and learn more about eevee and the eevelutions," Charles explained, flicking the page to different images of eevee's evolutionary forms, "Here are the ones that originate in Kanto: Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon. Do you like any of these forms?"
Titania hummed before her eyes landed on one particular eevelution.
("What's this one?") she asked, tapping her paw on an image.
Charles looked and saw that she was pointing to a short, black furred eevelution with yellow rings on its legs, ears, forehead and tail. It was much bigger then the pre-evolved form with red piercing eyes.
"That's an umbreon," Charles answered, "they originate from the Johto Region, but you can also find them here. It says 'When agitated, this Pokemon protects itself by spraying poisonous sweat from its pores and when darkness falls, the rings on the body begin to glow, striking fear in the hearts of anyone nearby', quite interesting, huh."
Titania stared at the image of the umbreon in wonder before frowning in determination.
("Alright then, I have decided what we are going to do for the rest of the day,") she firmly told much to his surprise.
"You have?" he asked in confusion.
("Might as well. All your ideas have been terrible anyway,") she snarked, making Charles sweat drop at the bluntness, ("You are going to evolve me into that,") she demanded stamping on the image of umbreon, ("Now that I know there's an eevelution that isn't cute or adorable and so people will leave me alone, I will do anything to make myself into one.")
Charles frowned in worry for two reasons. The first is that umbreon are just as cute and adorable as any other eevelution and no amount of poisonous seat is going to change his mind. But the other reason is that he was afraid that she wanted to evolve for all the wrong reasons. Wanting others to leave her alone. That was the complete opposite of what he wanted to achieve today.
However, again, this was her decision and he should respect that.
No matter how much he thinks it was a bad idea.
"Alright then," Charles sighed, "let's evolve you into an umbreon."
("Good, not like you had a choice,") Titania said, ("What do I have to? Get one of those stones or whatever.")
"Actually, according to the book, you need to have a strong friendship bond with your trainer during the night," Charles read out loud.
Titania's determined expression dropped into a disgusted snarl, ("What on earth does that mean?") she spat.
"One moment," Charles murmured as he flicked through the guide book until he found the right page, "Here it is, 'Friendship, also known as Happiness. When the friendship between trainer and Pokemon is great, it allows some Pokemon to evolve as well as enable them to learn special moves."
("YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!") Titania yelled, stamping the ground in anger, ("WHO CAME UP WITH THAT STUPID IDEA!")
Charles sighed and shook his head as he watched the eevee throw a tantrum in front of him.
"Acting like that is not going to solve anything. If you don't want to become an umbreon anymore then-"
("No!") Titania shouted, taking deep breath to control her temper, ("Let's just get this over with. What do we need to do to get this 'Friendship'?")
Charles was slightly offended with her implying that they weren't friends, but decided not to voice his feelings for the moment.
"Let's see, 'Friendship can be raised in several ways, including using vitamins' we don't have any 'holding a Sooth Bell' we don't have that either 'catching the Pokémon in a Luxury Ball' that's out 'or Friend Ball' so is that 'and...'"
He trailed off and gave Titania a grin.
("What? What is it?") she demanded.
Charles chuckled, "...giving them a massage or haircut," he finished.
("No,") the eevee firmly denied.
"Are you sure. I'm really good at it."
("No.")
Charles pouted in disappointment, "Fine, I guess we can just battle wild Pokemon until it gets dark."
Pokemon Centre
Benny stood on the table and stared wearily out of the window, hoping to see his brother and Titania appear. Flo and Alice were just as worried for their friend and the Pokemon. Night had fallen and they haven't heard or seen either of them.
Flo cast a look at the wall clock and frowned when she saw it was almost nine o'clock.
"Where are they?" she muttered, "He should have told us they were going out this late."
Benny turned to her with a concerned expression and squeaked at her. She petted the pikachu's head comfortingly.
"I'm sure he's fine, Benny," she glanced up at the blue haired girl sat across from her, "What should we do?"
Alice sighed and glanced out the window, "I'm sure they will return any second. The best thing we can do is stay and wait."
"Nurse Joy!"
They turned and saw a trainer run into the Centre and up to the front desk with a unconscious oddish in his arms.
"Can you heal my oddish?" he asked presenting the Grass type Pokemon to her.
"Of course," she said, taking the oddish and gently placing it on a stretcher before taking it into the back.
Alice and Flo shared a look as Benny curiously tilted his head at the trainer.
"Isn't it a bit late to have a battle?" Alice asked from the waiting room table.
The trainer looked over and rubbed the back of his head sheepishly, "I suppose. But that eevee looked strong and I couldn't help but ask for a battle...and I lost...badly."
"Wait an eevee," Flo said, "was the trainer a brown haired, green eyed boy about our age."
"And was the eevee the bitterest and most miserable Pokemon you have ever seen?" Alice added.
"Well, it was too dark to see what the trainer looked like, but that eevee certainly was the bitterest and most miserable Pokemon I've have ever seen," he confirmed, shivering in fear, "that was one scary eevee."
'That's definitely them,' Flo, Benny and Alice thought at the same time.
"Did you see where they go?" Alice asked.
The trainer shrugged, "Further into the forest I think. The eevee just ran off after the battle and your friend followed it. I hope they're alright, I heard it's going to storm tonight."
They eyes widened when they heard that.
"We need to find them now!" Flo as she got to her feet. Benny squeaked in agreement and leapt onto her shoulder.
However, before they could rush out, Alice grabbed her wrist.
"Wait a moment, we can't go out now. It's dark, it's going to rain soon and we have a whole forest to look for them."
"Then what should we do?" Flo sighed in frustration, "we have no way of contacting him."
Alice gasped and shot to her feet, "We can use his pokedex."
Benny squeaked at her with a small frown.
"I think Benny's saying that we can't trace his pokedex," Flo guessed, earning a nod from the pikachu.
Alice grinned, "Yeah, but we know somebody who can."
Doctor Akihabara's Lab
Doctor Akihabara opened the door to his mansion, his eyebrows rising as he saw Flo, Alice and Benny at the door.
"Great Scott! What are you doing here!?" he exclaimed.
"Trust us, we really didn't want to come here," Flo muttered.
Alice nudged her with her elbow for the comment, "We need help tracing our friend's pokedex," she explained.
"Ah I see," the doctor dramatically said, "And you need the help of a great scientist. I guess I can offer my assistance-"
"Actually, we wanted Porygon's or Porygon2's help," Alice corrected, "Are they busy?"
"...oh," Akihabara uttered in disappointment.
Somewhere In The Forest
Charles hummed in concern as he saw the dark storm clouds rolling in above them. He thought he should warn Titania of them, but she would just ignore him...again. After spending the afternoon and evening training and fighting any poor Pokemon who had the misfortune of catching the eevee's attention, Titania had decided that the best way for her to evolve was to find a clear view of the moon which is why they were standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking a river. Charles knew that she was tired and forcing herself to evolve was not helping, but if he tried to speak to her, she would ignore him and if he tried to pick her up, she would bite his hand.
Charles was upset for many reasons. He was cold, tired, his plans for today were a bust, but the worst reason was that he and Titania were no closer. In fact, she seemed to be more distant than ever. He sighed when he glanced at the eevee forcing herself to evolve by closing her eyes tightly and gritting her teeth. He would give her five more minutes before he demands that they leave.
Eevee cried in anger and bashed her paw against the ground, ("Evolve! Damn it! Why isn't this working!?")
"Titania you're going to hurt yourself," Charles calmly told her as he walked up behind her, "there's a storm coming we need to leave."
("We're not leaving until I evolve!") Titania snapped at him, ("You told me this would work!")
"No I didn't," Charles argued, "I told you the steps in order for you to evolve. Let's try again tomorrow on the way to Saffron City."
Titania growled at him, ("For Arceus's sake, you are just useless. You force me to do these stupid bonding activities and when I want to do something, you mess it up. You have this delusion that you're the greatest Pokemon trainer. Well guess what! Just because you can talk to Pokemon and you're calm and wise, doesn't make you special! You're nothing but a pathetic human with a superiority complex!")
Charles felt as if his heart was ripped in two.
"Titania please-" he whispered.
The wind was starting to blow violently now, but both human and Pokemon were too distracted to notice the weather.
("Did you think that just because you give me special treatment for one day, I will start being sweet and docile to my trainer!) she mocked, ("How stupid do you think I am!?")
"That was not-"
("You were afraid that you're pet would leave you, so you try to bribe me with walks and training and slumber parties! Well, I'm done! I'm leaving this stupid team! How do you like that!?")
Charles eyes widened in shock. He didn't register the rain pouring on to them, making his clothes damp and the eevee's fur wet and matted.
"Titania, I'm sorry that you feel this way but-"
("I don't need your apology!") she yelled at him as she began walking away, ("All I need is to get from you. I never want to see your stupid face ever again! I HATE YOU!")
CRACK! BOOM!
As soon as Titania screamed at him, lightening flashed through the sky and thunder roared above their heads. Titania yelped in fear and covered her head and ears with her paws.
Charles was just as surprised and took a step backwards in surprise. However, he laid his foot on a weak part of the edge and it gave away underneath him. Charles could only give a startled shout as fell off the cliff. Titania heard the cries, looked up and gasped when she saw him fall of the cliff. Despite her fear of thunder and lightening, Titania got up to her feet and rushed to the cliff's edge.
("Charles!") she cried, her face filled with horror. She sighed in relief when she saw that he grabbed onto an sturdy rock on the side of the steep cliff, ("Are you alright!?")
Charles grunted as held on to dear life. He had to be a few feet from the top and the cliff side was too soft to climb up. It didn't help that wind and the rain continued to batter him relentlessly.
"I'm fine," he called out to her, "go and find help."
("We're miles from any house. Besides I'm not going to leave you,") Titania shouted back, ("If I hold my tail over the edge I can pull you up.")
"No!" Charles shouted, "I'm too heavy. I'll just pull you down."
("Then what should I do?") the eevee whimpered with tears in her eyes.
"I...I don't know. Just give me a few seconds to think. Just keep away from the edge," Charles ordered, "If I could just get a better grip."
As the trainer struggled to hang on, Titania looked around trying to find something she could use, but there was nothing. She screamed as thunder and lightening crashed above her, causing her to hold her ears done once again. Her brown eyes glanced up in time to see the moon peek through the clouds for a moment and suddenly she had an idea.
She needed to evolve. She needed to be stronger.
She was scared, tired and her fur was starting to get heavy. But despite this, she stood to her feet, fought down a sob and faced the dark stormy clouds that loomed over her. She shut her eyes and focused on trying to evolve.
("Come on. Evolve, damn it,") she muttered to herself, ("Please let me evolve. I-I need to save him. Please.")
But no matter how much she begged, nothing happened. She winced slightly as the thunder boomed overhead, but tried her best to ignore it.
("Please,") she whispered, her eyes slowing opening as she stared up into tempest, ("I'm...sorry, okay. I just wanted to evolve so I can show him that I'm strong...and so he could just get off my back. But...but I'm not strong. I'm rude, ungrateful, arrogant and I blame others for my mistakes because I'm too much of a coward to own up to them. But please just let me evolve so I can save him! So I can do something right for the first time in my life!")
She didn't know why she was yelling at the storm. Months of bottled up emotions were finally escaping and she just couldn't hold them back. Tears were now pouring down her cheeks and her ears were lowered.
("What do I have to do!? Fine, I admit it, I don't want to leave the team! I...they're not too bad!") thunder boomed overhead, it was as if it knew she was lying, ("OKAY! I like them! All of them! Flo, Alice, Benny, Pyro, Mystic, Boa, Cleo, Echo, Sneak, Fleur...well she's alright,") thunder boomed again, ("Alright I like her too! As well as Lilly, Kani, Marina, Tyche, Miko, Alette, Manitari, Apollo, and Ruby! I even like that Abra from the other day! I have been nothing but horrible to them, because I was scared! Scared of getting close to them and losing them like I did with my family! I didn't want to be hurt again!") she sobbed, ("I treated them all like dirt and acted tough, but I don't want to do that anymore! I'm sorry that I was awful to Marina she...she's adorable and sweet and it hurts because she reminds me of my younger sister! I'm sorry I bite people! It brings me bad memories of when I was taken! And I'm so sorry that I've treated Charles terribly!") she lowered her head as she continued to weep, ("I was really happy when he told me we were going to spend the day together, but I couldn't admit it because I felt guilty for all the horrible things I've done to him! Since we've met, he's been kind, patient and really caring and all I have done is insult him, shout at him, and been nothing but a burden! I don't deserve him and I don't care if he hates me after all of this! Just please let me evolve so I can save him!")
Thunder boomed overheard once more, but she didn't care anymore. She gripped the ground and snapped her head up towards the storm, angry tears streaming down her face.
("Please! I LOVE HIM!") she bellowed, ("LET ME SAVE MY TRAINER!")
Suddenly, Titania's body began to glow brightly.
Charles, who was losing the strength to hold himself up, saw a bright light illuminate on top of the cliff out of sight. He was surprised and it caused his fingers to slip down the rock. He dug his foot into the cliff side and managed to cling on, but he was starting to lose his strength. He cried out in pain as he fingers finally gave out and he began to fall into the river below.
That was until something wrapped around his wrist and caught him at the last moment.
Slowly, the something pulled him up the cliff until he was able to grab the edge and pulled himself onto solid ground. He laid on his back, letting the rain fall on his face and trying to catch his breath.
Titania waited until he sat up before she jumped on his lap and pressed her face into his chest.
("I'm so sorry,") she sobbed, ("I'm sorry.")
Charles was a little shocked. Mainly since this was the first time Titania has ever expressed her feelings before but also by her appearance...but they will cross that bridge when they get to it. Right now, Charles wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly, whispering reassuringly into her ears.
"It's alright. I'm safe now. Thank you for saving me."
("But I was the one who put you in danger,") she argued.
"Please don't blame yourself," Charles said, "Why didn't you tell us how you felt in the first place?"
She looked up at him, ("You heard me?")
Charles chuckled, "You were yelling very loudly," causing her to groan in embarrassment, "Titania, I know you have trust issues and it's understandable with your past. But every single member of the team wants you to stay and so do I. I will never abandon you and you will never be alone again. And, if you want, we can search for your siblings and you can be a family once again. How does that sound?"
Titania sniffed and, for the first time in a very long time, she smiled. It wasn't a mocking smirk or a sarcastic grin, but a genuine, content smile. She pressed her face into his chest once again.
("Thank you,") she whispered, ("I'm so glad I met you.")
Charles smiled and rubbed her head, "How many siblings do you have?" he gently asked.
("Seven,") she answered.
Charles nodded. However it took him a while to realise what she said.
"Wait. How many?"
"Charles!"
The trainer and the Pokemon looked up to see Flo, Alice and Benny rushing up towards them, wearing raincoats and carrying torches. Benny leaped down from Alice's shoulder and jumped on to his.
("Where have you been, you moron!?") Benny crossly shouted at him.
"Sorry," Charles said, "we had some things to sort out."
Flo and Alice finally caught up to them.
"Are you alrig-"
Flo stopped short as she noticed Titania in his lap. Alice and Benny noticed her as well and Titania was starting to worry about their reactions.
"Guys, this is Titania she...evolved," Charles explained as they continued to stare at her.
...
...
...
Without warning, Alice and Flo squealed in delight, making Benny and Titania (and to a lesser extent Charles) wince at the high pitch noise.
"She's so adorable!" Flo cried.
"And so elegant," Alice added.
"Yeah, I never seen anything like her before," Charles said, scanning her with his pokedex and humming when the device came up with no data.
("What do you mean? I'm a umbreon, aren't I?") Titania asked in confusion.
Benny gave her uneasy look, ("Actually, you're kind of the...opposite of an umbreon.")
("What?") Titania questioned, leaping out of Charles' lap and going over to a nearby puddle.
She stared at her reflection and a pair of bright blue eyes stared back. She had white fur covering most of her slender body, while the top of her head is pink, along with long pink ears with dark blue insides. She also has two pink and white bow-shaped features with one on her right ear, and one around neck. Attached to the bow-like features are ribbon-like appendages with pink and blue tips that curl around her body and a fluffy pink tail.
Titania blinked, too stunned for any sudden reaction. It was as if she couldn't quite believe what she turned into. Suddenly, her brain began to function again and she couldn't help but cry out.
("WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?")
Pokemon Centre
Returning to the Centre, Charles had changed out of his wet clothes while Flo and Alice dried Titania's fur before they contacted Professor Oak to inquire what had the eevee evolved into. Oak was just as stumped as they were, but he knew a Professor in a far region called Kalos who might know. While the Professor went off to contact her and Flo and Alice were preparing for leaving tomorrow, a still stunned Titania sat on Charles' lap as the Pokemon had gathered around them to inspect her new form. On Charles' and Titania's side there was Benny, Boa, Echo, Tyche, Hurricane, and Pyro while at the lab's end, Cleo, Miko, Marina, Sneak and Mahad gathered around the screen. Charles thought it was a good idea to discuss Titania's new form before he does the full team transfer.
To say the least, all the Pokemon were either in awe of Titania's new form or just confused. Marina and Mahad were the only ones who didn't seem fascinated because Marina was too young to understand what was going on and Mahad...well he was asleep.
Abra kind of do that a lot.
("Well, Titania, I have to admit that it's quite the look,") Benny commented teasingly.
Titania grumbled, ("I was trying to evolve into an umbreon.")
("I especially love the bowties,") Miko said, ("Maybe I should get one for myself.")
("Let me wear one!") Hurricane excitedly cheered as he pulled at the bowtie on her ear.
Titania cried out in pain and slapped the butterfree with one of her ribbons, ("Stop that, you idiot, they're attached to me!")
Hurricane flew threw and collided with Tyche, who was standing on the table, making him fall of it. The bellesprout landed in a bucket of water that Nurse Joy happened to leave there so she could clean the reception floor. Charles sighed and fished the Pokemon out of the bucket, shook the water off him and placed him back on the table.
("Titania,") Cleo calmly said, ("Have you come to a decision on whether you want to leave or not?")
("How did you know about t-" she stopped and glared up at a smiling Charles, ("You told her?")
"I told everyone on the team," he answered much to her surprise, "Since you're an important member, I thought everybody could give their opinion on the matter."
("But I have been anything but important,") Titania argued, ("I have been antagonising everyone since the beginning.")
("That doesn't mean you're not an important,") Cleo said, ("Everybody would be upset if you left.")
("Yeah, please don't leave. Please, please, pleaaaaaaaasssseeee,") Hurricane begged and Titania was tempted to thwack him away again.
Sneak nodded in agreement, ("Perhaps you should sleep with it.")
("What?") Titania questioned in confusion.
("Sneak, it's sleep on it,") Echo corrected with a sweat drop.
("Oh right, sorry.")
Boa leaned her head down to her Titania's height and offered a small smile, ("The point is that you're one of us. All of us have our faults. Hurricane is too hyper, Fleur has her anger problems, Tyche is accident prone-")
("Boa is narcissistic,") Pyro contributed, causing the arbok to his in annoyance.
("How dare you!") she cried as she swiped her tail at him. However, Pyro ducked and her tail ended up hitting Tyche, making him fall off the table and splash in to the bucket of water again. ("Oops sorry Tyche,") Boa apologised.
(Sorry Tyche,") Pyro apologised as well.
("It's fine,") Tyche called back as Charles fished him out again.
("Anyway,") Boa continued, ("you were accepted into the team just like everybody else, faults and all. Now that you know them, you can improve yourself and overcome them.")
"Boa's right," Charles said, "Everyone would love you to stay, but if you want to leave then it's still your choice.
Titania looked around at the smiling faces of the Pokemon. Despite being horrible to everyone, they still supported her.
She felt loved.
("Thank you,") she said as her ribbon tendrils began to glow, somehow soothing everyone, ("I would love to stay.")
The Pokemon cheered happily at her decision while Charles hugged her tightly.
("Charles should we do the trade?") Cleo asked.
"Yes, Boa, Echo, Hurricane, and Pyro you will be swapping with Cleo, Miko, Marina and Mahad," he turned to the sandslash on the screen, "Sorry Sneak, but Titania needs to stay here for a bit."
("It's fine,") Sneak happily said, ("I was planning on sneaking up on some pidgey in the forest tomorrow anyway.")
("Of course he does,") Benny sighed.
Charles put all the Pokemon he was swapping into their pokeballs and stood up with Titania in his arms.
"Right all I have to do is use the-"
("Stop right there,") the Centre's chansey called out as she waddled her way over, ("Nurse Joy has banned you from using the transporter. I'll take it from here.")
Charles sighed in despair and gave her the pokeballs as Benny, Titania and Cleo chuckled at the scene.
("I'll deal with everyone on my end. I think the Professor is returning now. See you in a bit,") Cleo said as she led all the Pokemon off screen.
Suddenly, Oak appeared on the screen again just as soon as Flo and Alice came down the stairs.
"Hello again," the elderly man called out.
"Hey Professor, have you contacted the other professor," Charles asked.
"We've been dying to know what happened to Titania," Alice added as Flo nodded in agreement.
"I have," Oak said, "I'm putting you through to Professor Sycamore now," he informed just before the screen went blank with the word 'connecting' on it.
A few seconds later, the screen lit up again to show a tired looking man in his early thirties. He had wavy black hair, fair skin and grey eyes and a bit on stubble on his chin. It was clear by his unkempt hair, the bags under his eyes and a hastily put on lab coat that the Professor had just woken up. Despite this, he gave the kids a tired friendly smile.
"Hi there," he greeted with a small yawn, "you must be Charles, Flo and Alice. My name's Professor Sycamore."
"Hello professor," Flo said, leaning down slightly to see the screen, "sorry did we wake you up."
("We probably should have thought about the different time zones between Kanto and Kalos,") Benny muttered.
Sycamore waved her off, "Don't worry it's fine. I'm usually working early mornings anyway. How can I help?"
"We need help identifying this Pokemon," Charles said, holding up Titania for Sycamore to see.
Sycamore's eyes widened, recognising the Pokemon, "What you have there is a sylveon. No wonder you guys were confused. I never heard of one evolving outside Kalos," he began typing on his keyboard, "I'm just going to send you the information right...now."
"Wow, didn't know you could do that on a Centre phone," Flo said out loud, highlighting the plot convenience that the author was to lazy to fix.
The screen now showed an guide to sylveon which included a picture and some information. It read:
Sylveon - The Intertwining Pokemon: It sends a soothing aura from its ribbonlike feelers to calm fights.
Titania looked at the information page before groaning in frustration, ("I'm sure this is all interesting, but it doesn't explain why I turned into one.")
"Right one moment," Charles said as he jotted down the Pokemon's moves and other information in a notebook that Alice provided before addressing Sycamore again, "How does an eevee evolve into a sylveon then. We were kind of hoping for a umbreon."
"Well," Sycamore hummed as he appeared on the screen again, "eevee evolve into sylveon when they are deeply affection to their trainers. This could be done in several ways like naming your eevee, spending time with them, learning a Fairy type move-"
"Fairy type?" Alice questioned.
"I've heard of it," Flo said, "It's a new classification for Pokemon. I think Alette's species are now considered Fairy type."
("But I don't know any Fairy type moves,") Titania said.
"Well, actually we do," Charles sheepishly said, "You know how you were training to use Charm. I think that might be a Fairy move."
("And when exactly were you going to tell me this?") Titania fiercely questioned, causing Charles to gulp.
"Huh, your sylveon must really hold a lot of affection for you, Charles," Sycamore observed, making the two look at him in confusion:
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Sylveon wraps its feelers around the arms of person it has most the affection to," Sycamore explained, "and Titania's feelers are wrapped very tightly around your arms."
Charles and Titania looked down and saw that he was right. He didn't even notice them. Titania squeaked in embarrassment and tried to maintain control as everybody's giggled at the scene.
("Wow Titania,") Benny smirked, ("You must really love him.")
("Shut it, rodent,") the sylveon growled, ("I can't control these things.")
Tyche laughed from the table, ("Titania loves Charles,") he sang, ("Titania loves-")
("Say one more word and you're dead, punk,") Titania darkly threatened, her bright blue eyes turning dark red for a moment.
Tyche gulped, ("Sorry Miss Titania. I-I-I don't know what came over me,") he stammered, ('She's still very scary').
Charles chuckled and scratched Titania's head, "It's alright. I love you too Titania."
The sylveon purred at the petting but snapped her head away and pouted in embarrassment.
("Shut up, you moron,") she muttered.
Alice glanced at Flo and rolled her eyes when she saw her frown, "Are you seriously getting jealous of a Pokemon?" she whispered at her.
"No I'm not," she muttered crossly back.
"Well, if that's all for now, I shall say goodbye-" Sycamore yawned, "-to you now."
"Of course, thanks Professor," Charles gratefully said.
"If want to come to the Kalos Region in the future than contact me at the Luminose City Research Centre," Sycamore added.
"We will," Flo happily promised.
"And we'll make sure to call you at a reasonable hour next time," Alice said.
After saying goodbye to Sycamore, the screen switched back to Oak's lab where the Professor was waiting patiently for them. He informed them that the Pokemon transfer was a success and he got all his pokeballs. They thanked him and said goodbye to him as well, just in time for the chansey to return with his pokeballs.
("Here you go all safe,") the chansey chirped as she handed him a tray with all his pokeballs, ("I managed to operate it successfully. With these stubby arms,") she said in a slightly snark tone.
"For a chansey you're awfully passive aggressive,") Charles commented.
Suddenly one of the pokeballs on the tray opened up and Marina leapt at Charles and wrapped her sepertine body around him, forcing a Benny and Titania to leap down on to the ground to avoid being hit. He movement was so wild that her tail swung at Tyche but the bellesprout managed to duck before it could knock him off the table.
("Phew, that was close,") he sighed in relief.
("Mama! Mama! Mama! Mama!") Marina chanted happily as she rubbed her head against his cheek.
Charles put the tray down and hugged her back, equally as thrilled to see her as well, "My baby. Oh I'm so happy to see you."
Marina giggled in joy before her big eyes landed on Titania. She cocked her head in interest which worried the sylveon slightly. Then, without warning, Marina suddenly squealed happily.
("Pink!")
("W-what?") Titania stammered.
Marina jumped down from Charles and landed next to Titania. Her tail accidentally knocking Tyche on the way down.
("Oh dear, here I go again!") Tyche cried as he fell off the table and into the bucket for the third time.
("We really need to do something about that bucket,") Benny commented in a deadpanned tone.
As Charles lifted Tyche out of the bucket...again, Marina had wrapped around a shocked Titania and began rubbing her face against hers.
("Pink! Pink!") the dratini cheered as the sylveon stood still in awkward panic.
("What's happening? What do I do?")
Flo cooed and kneeled down beside them, "Don't panic Titania. Marina must like you because you share the same fur colour. She does the same to Alette. Dratini's are usually blue and they aren't any other of her species at the Corral, so she must relate closely to those the same colour as her," she explained before giggling slightly, "She might even see you as an older sister."
Titania's eyes widened before looking at Marina who cooed gently at her. Titania smiled gently and rubbed her head back against her's.
("I'm alright with this...I suppose,") she quietly admitted.
Pokemon Centre Room
It was late at night and Charles was sleeping peacefully when he felt something poke his face. His eyes slowly opened and groaned tiredly as lifted his head. His eyes landed on Titania who stood by his bed. He blinked in confusion and rubbed his face, trying not to disturb a still sleeping Benny.
"Titania, what's wrong?" he whispered.
The sylveon looked away timidly, ("I was wondering...if you want to have that slumber party. You know, since all of your other plans were terrible.")
Charles chuckled, "Give me a moment. We'll have it in the cafeteria," he whispered as he reached over and scratched her head.
("Good,") Titania said with a small smile.
"Can I groom your fur when we down there? I have my equipment."
Titania sighed reluctantly, ("Fine.")
"Maybe I can do your nails-"
("Don't push it.")
"Sorry."
Yes! I was finally able to get this chapter before December.
I had a rough month. My cat needed to get her eye removed and that was quite a bit of a scare. She's fine now and back to her grumpy, old self.
Quite a lot of character development in this one. I've been looking forward to evolving Titania into a sylveon. Not like I was being secretive about it. I mean I named her after a fairy queen.
I thought I take this chance to explain some things. I know it seemed a little odd asking only for Kanto Pokemon for the Pokemon recommendations and then introducing a Kalos Pokemon. However, if the Pokemon is found in the original pokedex then they could evolve into a Pokemon that wasn't introduced until later. For example:
Sirfetch'd can turn up because of Farfetch'd. But Togedemaru can't.
Hope that clears up things.
Anyway hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'll see you next time.
Thanks :)

Victor Soul had just finished his latest chapter when he heard a knock at the door.
"For goodness sake, not another one," he muttered before he called out, "Come in."
The door opened and Charles entered his office with a kind smile and wave, "Hi Victor. I was wondering-"
"Are you going to complain about the script as well?" Victor interrupted, "just like my other OCs."
"What no," Charles answered in confusion, "Why would think that?"
(A.N: See the end of the latest chapters of The Puzzling Adventures of Edgar Cipher, Fairy Tail's Night Terror and The Disappearing Hero for context.)
"Did...did you just put an author's note?" Charles questioned, looking up at the line above, "but you're in the room."
"Well...yes...so."
"Can't you have just say it out loud?"
"...Is there a reason you're here or..."
"Oh right," Charles realised, "Well, I wanted to know how your meowth is. I heard she had surgery."
"My...oh you mean my cat," Victor said, looking over to the black and white cat who was sleeping on his desk, "she's fine. Thank you for asking."
"That's good. I won't disturb her then."
Victor smiled happily, "Well, thanks for stopping by, I-"
"Actually," Charles interrupted sheepishly, making Victor internally groan, "I may have another reason why I've come here."
Victor sighed wearily, "Fine. What is it?"
Charles coughed awkwardly, "Well, the members of the union were talking-"
"My OCs have formed a union against me?"
"I am not obliged to disclose that sort of information," Charles answered.
"Those are awfully big words for a ten year old."
"Anyway," Charles continued, "we believe that you should stop writing these omakes at the end of your chapters."
Victor was taken back by this, "What why?"
"Firstly, it's not really keeping to pace of the story and secondly it's a little self-congratulatory."
Victor leaned back in his chair, "You're accusing me of self-inserting myself in the stories. Honestly, I can't believe this. I would never be so narcissistic," he said as he rubbed his ruggedly handsome face in exhaustion.
He had a right to be tired. Between using his high intellect to produce amazing works of fiction for his fans and making sure his slim and toned physique is in top condition, Victor has little time for resting or tending to his harem of beautiful women who-
"You know what, I think you guys have a point," Victor suddenly said in a moment of self-reflection, "I stop writing subpar omakes."
"We're all grateful for your sacrifice," Charles told him.
"Can you at least bring one of your Pokemon with you next time you visit?" Victor sighed.
Charles shook his head, "You don't own the rights for the Pokemon franchise."
"Oh for goodness sake!"
