Prologue : Seven Wraiths Assemble!

It was a dark and ominous night in the city of Everick, a territory in Midgar kingdom ruled by the illustrious Normann family for generations. That same territory is the home of the mysterious evil lord Necromancer, whose terrifying power and evil shook the kingdom, the Cult of Diablos and their rival, the Shadow Garden.

Seven figures gathered in the air above the city, their presence concealed as they are technically not there, merely existing within a sub-dimension.

"It sure is rare for us the Seven Wraiths to gather together like this… on a joint mission no less." Remarked a laidback wolf beastkin as he stood with both his hands behind his head.

"Even the dragon is here. What country does Lord Necromancer wants to erase from the world?" Says a pale skinned woman with revealing dress as she frowns and tries to keep her trembling under control at the presence of a huge black dragon behind them.

"The mission is not that grand. Lord Necromancer merely wanted us to go grave robbing." Says an elderly and tall figure wearing black cloak and a skull mask with enchanted armor underneath his robes.

"Grave robbing? Why must we do such grunt work when his Reaper Squad and undead minions are more than enough for the job!?" Complained an elf wearing black coat decorated with golden lines.

"We're told that this mission… is high priority." Answered a pale skinned man with hunched back wearing black armor.

A short and masked figure wearing black robed chose not to say anything. But despite not saying anything, said figure's presence irritated the elf.

"You! Shorty! You are the last to join us and are the weakest among us! I hope whatever you learned from Lord Necromancer would help us instead of becoming a burden to us!" The elf taunted the short figure, who merely ignored him, which irritates him even more.

"Don't you dare ignore me, brat!" He says as he brandished his runed curved sword and points it at the short figure, who retaliates by summoning an enchanted dagger and points it at his throat, merely inches to stabbing his neck.

"Now now, fellas. No fighting." Says the wolf beastkin with a laidback attitude.

"Tch. You shut your mouth, you damn mutt." Says the elf as he sheathes his blade back. The blade at his throat retreated and was unsummoned in response.

"So, whose grave are we robbing?" Asked the pale skinned woman.

"We are to search the grave of the ancient king Alexander and acquire his corpse for the master." Replied the tall masked figure.

"A human king? Bah! No doubt Lord Necromancer wants to reanimate him into his undead army. But what is so special about this king? Does Lord Necromancer wants to have him replace the king of Midgar or something?" Asked the elf, clearly unimpressed at the idea of obtaining the corpse of a mere human.

"This human is stronger than you, elf." Replied the pale man with hunched back.

"Bah! Nonsense! Humans are weak pathetic creatures! Also aren't you happy, you fucking corpse? When we obtain this human king's corpse, he will probably replace you so you can go back to sleep like you wanted!"

"…" The pale man didn't respond to the elf's taunts as he has resigned to his fate as the Necromancer's undead slave.

"There are humans more powerful than you, actually." The tall masked man, the leading figure among the seven, replied.

"Name one, old man!"

"Me." The masked man unleashed his aura, which exceeds the elf's by a longshot.

"Tch! You're just strong because of Lord Necromancer's gifts!"

"And I received them because I am more useful to him than you. If you're so desperate to receive his gifts, then stop complaining and be more useful for once."

"If we're talking about a human stronger than this pointy ears here, ain't Lord Necromancer count?" The wolf beastkin asked a seemingly harmless question in order to obtain some insight into the identity of the evil lord he was forced to serve.

"Lord Necromancer is not a human." The tall masked figure answered.

"T-Then what is h-he…? A demon?" The pale skinned woman asked with nervous curiosity.

"He is a god." Answered the tall masked man like a true fanatic.

"Ha ha. Very funny, old man. I suppose I should've expected an answer like that out of a fanatic like you." The elf sneers.

"Ah, the ignorance of the unenlightened." The masked man remarked with pity in his voice.

"Hey. I'm actually older than you, you short lived human! I'm neither ignorant nor naïve!"

"The fact that you didn't understand Lord Necromancer's brilliance is proof of your ignorance."

"Whatever. Let's just finish this job quickly so I can be rid of your annoying presence as soon as possible!" The elf declared his disdain of his colleagues and left through the teleportation gate, which is big enough to accommodate even the huge dragon standing behind them.

"What a rude fellow. An arrogant elf is one thing, but an arrogant elven royalty? Great combination!" The wolf beastkin sarcastically remarked.

"Regardless, he is chosen by our lord just like the rest of us to be his Seven Wraiths. Now let us go and finish our first joint mission." The masked man replied as he too stepped through the teleportation gate. The others followed closely behind.

The seven dark figures, known as the Seven Wraiths, the Necromancer's elite minions and counter to Shadow Garden's Seven Shades , assembled and began moving together for the first time since their inception in order to carry out their lord's will.

Whatever the evil lord planned when he sent them on this mission, it does not bode well for Midgar kingdom and the entire world, which already suffered under the shadowy rule of the ancient order, the Cult of Diablos.

Dark forces are moving in the shadows and it's only a matter of time before their actions shook even the lands blessed with light.

All according to the will of the ruler of death and master of fates.

Author's Notes:

This fic is a side story of my other fic, The Necromancer in Shadows. Go read that one if you haven't.

Since the Seven Wraiths are lacking in screen time, I decided to write this side story, inspired by the Seven Shades Chronicles in The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden game.

Updates on this side story will be slow as I will be focusing on the main story.
