A/N: Alright, everyone. Here is the Day of Σ chapter. Also, after this chapter will the crossovers really start with Million Arthurs appearing in the next chapter and Koi Koi 7 appearing after the Flame Mammoth chapter, so think of it as a special way to start the Director's Cut of MegaMan X IS. So here is Chapter 6.
Chapter 6: The Day of Σ: Let the Games Begin!
February 6th, 21XX, X-Estate, 6:25 AM
Houki got out of her shower after waking up and was combing her hair. She thought back to the day that the mysterious red Reploid, Zero became their friend. But she has a lot of questions about Zero… And there was also some questions about Jessika, Marino, the Neo Emerald Spears and the mysterious X Foundation…
'Just who is Zero? And who could've made him? Why was he carrying the source of the Maverick Virus within him? Not only that, Ling said that she saw a glowing W initial on Zero's helmet when he was screaming out in pain after brutally beating the crud out of Commander Sigma…" Houki thought to herself while looking at her reflection in the mirror. 'Still, Zero doesn't seem to remember anything about his past or who made him. But what was he doing in that lab where the fiendish Dr. Wily conducted his secret project there before we awoke in 21XX?' Houki sighed as she went to get dressed into her Maverick Hunter uniform.
'And not only that, but there's also Jessie and Marino and their team the Neo Emerald Spears. From what we've been told, Jessie said that the original Emerald Spears were a group of robotics-phobes who were trying to rid the world of all advanced robotics because they believed that the world is advancing too fast. From what she said, they're just a group of extremists that were trying to convince Dr. Light and his colleagues during a robotics trade show until they were arrested for bombing the convention center. But only 3 members managed to escape from being arrested and 2 of them were her grandparents. She did say that there was one more, but he seemed to have vanished and was never seen again. I just hope that we never run into him while we're fighting the Mavericks.' She still has the RepArmor control device with her, as do her friends. These RepArmor control devices allows the IS girls to change into their RepArmors on the fly, sorta like the ones in Totally Spies.
Houki looked at her reflection in the mirror one more time and smiled. "Oh well, I guess there's no point in worrying about it now. It's probably best to save it for another time." She turned to her door and exited her room.
Houki went downstairs of the penthouse where she sees, X, her friends, Jessika, Marino, Jerry, Sophie and Zero watching Teen Titans on HBO Max. The IS girls were surprised to know that HBO Max has come to Japan after they were awakened from their cryosleep. Dr. Cain even set them up an account when they and X moved into X-Estate. Ling can be seen cheering for Cyborg as he was in a final showdown with Atlas with his fellow Titans trapped in glass orbs and his mechanic decided to turn against him as he was never appreciated by Atlas despite outfitting him with weapons and repairing any damages to him.
"Yeah! C'mon, Cy! You can do it! Push past those limits to prove to Atlas how strong you really are! You can save your fellow Titans!" Ling cheered as Cyborg was able to push past his 100% limit and was able to defeat Atlas where he admits defeat and the Titans and his mechanic leaves him behind. Zero made a disgusted scoff at the scene.
"I really don't get why this Cyborg guy is half-human and half-machine. Does he even have a purpose in this show?" He muttered as the Titans leave the abandoned stadium after congratulating their friend on his victory.
"Oh Zero. Cyborg is a superhero who fights for the people he protects." Charlotte answered him as her eyes sparkled in delight. "If you can protect the people that are close to you, it makes you a hero…"
"Hero, huh?" Zero looked at the 49inch TV as the credits rolled, ending the episode. "Never really thought about the whole justice and hero thing myself…"
"Maybe, but I just wished that Cyborg could think more rationally and think about his safety when facing Atlas in that episode. Even if he's half-human and a hero, he's still a machine and must think about whatever fighting will bring peace to the world." X looked at the TV screen despondently.
"X, wars happened all the time in life. Even though there's no more human wars in this timeline, we're still facing a non-serious war with berserk Reploids." Zero told him in a strict manner. "I don't know much about this timeline, but wars always happens, even with Reploids…"
"I-I know that…" X sighed despondently.
"And plus, Atlas is nothing more than a glorified bully who thinks that he's better than everyone." Jessie said with a frown as she added some motherly advice to X. "The way he treats his mechanic and how he looks down on the other Titans for being human except for Starfire because she's an alien, it just shows that he's really just a schoolyard bully as a robot. So, don't take it too seriously as it's just showing how you can stand up to them."
"I suppose that's true when you put it that way." X sighed.
"You sound like you know a lot about bullies, don't you?" Cecilia asked Jessie in concern.
"Believe me, when your grandparents were once part of an extremist group and bombed a convention center with still some people in there, you tend to stick out like a sore thumb." Jessie answered her with a sad sigh. "I had to fight in order to get them off my back for something I had no control over, but it only made it worse for me because that's what they were hoping for. It also didn't help much that I got a bad reputation and everyone started avoiding me until I reached middle school where I met these 2 and the others." She wraps her arms around both Jerry and Sophie and pulled them closer to her where they're leaning on her breasts from both sides. "Thanks to them, I finally had some people who saw me for who I really am and I never felt alone again."
"It was nothing really, Jessie. We saw how you were suffering from those jerks always trying to get a reaction out of you and we decided to step in." Jerry said with a embarrassed smile. "We knew that they're just trying to get you in trouble so we decided to step in and let them take the fall for trying to get under your skin." Sophie nodded in agreement as they blushed from being so close to her breasts. "Uh… could you let go now? You're holding us a little too tight…" Sophie nods as Jessie held them even closer until they've heard Houki.
"Zero?" Houki blinked, catching her friends' attention, including Zero. "What are you doing here? I never would've thought that you came here to visit us."
"Hey, it wasn't really my decision to come here on my own free will." Zero retorted back before resuming watching TV, as Char used the remote to switch to Disney Plus and put in the first episode of The Mandalordian. "I just came here to learn more about X and you five girls from 2035."
"Oh, is that so? And what do you need to know about us?" Houki asked with a gasp.
"Mostly about what were your lives were like before awakening in this timeline and about the person who created X." Zero answered her as he turned to X and the IS girls.
"I'd like to know more about you guys as well. I know we've only just met a few days ago, but there's so much I want to know about you." Jessie agrees as Jerry and Sophie managed to slip out of her grip as she loosened up on them.
"As do I, since my creator also knows X's creator back when they were alive and how were your lives like in your timeline." Marino also agrees with a smile.
"I guess that does make sense. You guys don't know much about us yet, so it makes sense that you'd want to know more about us." Houki nodded, smiling as well.
"But before that, Houki did you hear?" Cecilia smiled brightly.
"About what?" Houki raised an eyebrow while crossing her arms and looking at her friend.
"Dr. Cain has officially made Zero a Maverick Hunter and he's already a Class A Hunter due to his amazing battle against Commander Sigma the other day." Cecilia beamed. Ling, however, was still silent and looked a bit away, still feeling a bit frighten of Zero for what he did to Sigma a few days ago when he was still a Maverick.
"So I'm guessing that means I'm your senior now." Zero grinned coldly.
"Tch, I highly doubt that…" Laura gave Zero her usual cold glare to which Zero returned back with his own. Zero then decided to talk about what era the IS girls came from after awaking from suspended animation last month.
"So exactly what era did you girls come from after awaking from cryosleep? The era of the what?" Zero asked out of curiosity as he glanced at the IS girls.
"The era of the ISes." Ling told him like he was a child learning about new things.
"And what the heck is an IS anyway?" Zero wondered as the word IS sounds alien to him.
"I've heard about them from some old reports, but I never really understood them. So what are the IS?" Jessie also wondered.
Charlotte giggled playfully and playfully answered "Well, it's best if we tell you everything about the IS." And the IS girls told Zero, Jessie and Marino about the ISes, about the man whom they all loved is now deceased, the Phantom Task organization and the Phantom Virus Tragedy which proved to be Phantom Task's ultimate undoing and how the IS girls were placed into cryosleep after the gas knocked them into a coma and 21XX was the only way of curing it.
"Oh my gosh…" Marino gasped in horror.
"Holy cow…" Jessie was just speechless.
"Ouch…" Zero winched at the history of the IS girls have. "Such as the price to pay for saving your homeland, huh?" The IS girls all nodded silently as X could tell that they were still sadden by the death of Ichika and awaking in a world that has humans coexisting with Reploids. But he will help them overcome their grief. Plus, he blushed at the IS girls, though they didn't notice it. They're nice and caring and X was wise in becoming their guardian. But… why is he suddenly feeling that way? Does he… like one of the IS girls?
Less than so with Jerry and Sophie as while they're still feeling sorry for the IS girls about losing everyone they knew and loved, but there was still a underlying feeling of hatred towards them because of the ISes and how everything was changed because of the Phantom Virus Tragedy. Though they kept it to themselves as to not say anything just yet.
But before X could ponder at these new feelings of love and emotion, the phone ranged. "Hang on, I'll get it." X told them as he got up from the sofa and walked over to the phone and answered it. It showed a hologram of a Maverick Hunter with worry on her features. "Yes. This is X, what's wrong?"
"X, we have a problem." The female Hunter stammered. "It's Commander Sigma, he's gone missing!"
"What?!" X, Jerry Sophie and the IS girls gawked as they all rose up from their seats and looked over at the female Hunter with bewildered eyes.
"What do you mean he's missing?! What happened to him?!" Sophie shouted in shock.
"I'm not sure, but after he was repaired from his fight with Zero and when he was cured of the Maverick Virus. He just simply up and vanished! Even Dr. Cain has no clue on his whereabouts. Not only that, but Commander Sigma has been acting strange lately." The female Hunter whimpered in worry. "If you ever find any sign of Commander Sigma, please let me know."
"Roger. I'll keep you posted of his whereabouts." X nodded with a serious frown before cutting the channel.
"So it sounds like your Commander has gone missing, eh? What do you guys think got into his circuits like that?" Zero shrugged as he stood up from the sofa and looked at his friends with cold eyes.
"I really don't know… but I got a bad feeling about this." Cecilia muttered as the gang looked out at the window, seeing the whole city, wondering where Commander Sigma has disappeared to.
Neo Tokyo Sector 5, 10:00 PM, Vile Corps
"This is just too easy!" Vile laughed as he fired his cannon at the last Maverick as he screamed in agony before being reduced to ash, not even caring about the collateral damage around him. Vile then patted his shoulder cannon. "Ah, nothing like a good hoedown with some lowly Mavericks to end the day right. It really helps a lot when I'm feeling stressed over all those goody-goody two-shoes dorks like X and his girlfriends." He then looked at the moon and thought about that new recruit for the Maverick Hunters… Zero. "But what I don't get is why Doc allowed a Maverick like him who was the source of the Maverick Virus becomes part of the Maverick Hunters. And on top of that, he traumatized that Ling girl when he was beating the circuits out of the Commander. That pretty boy better not get in my way of being the best Maverick Hunter in the whole world… Hm?" Vile noticed a huge shadow in the corner of some alleyway. "More prey, huh? Sounds like fun." He chuckled to himself as he dashes towards his target.
As he dashes through the alleyway and towards his target, he thought to him about Zero some more. 'Wait a minute… if Zero was cured of the Maverick Virus, then why haven't the Mavericks stopped appearing? It makes no freakin' sense! …Ah well, as long as there's Mavericks, I can still have the sweetest job a Reploid could ever have!' Vile then noticed his target was heading straight into a warehouse.
"Alright, Maverick scum. Come out, come out wherever you are." Vile challenged as he activated his cannon's laser sight. He soon spotted his target and was about to fire until the figure stepped out of the shadows. The figure shocked Vile to his core as he just realized who it was. "C-Commander Sigma?! Is that you?!"
"Yes, Vile, it is me. Nice of you to come find me this evening." Sigma answered him with a dark smile.
"What the heck happened to you? I know you've been messed up since your fight with that Zero guy, but now you're out and about all by your lonesome?" Vile asked in confusion.
"I needed some time alone to think about some things and I came to a conclusion that I've been thinking about for some time." Sigma answered him evilly.
"And what's that, Commander?" Vile asked.
Sigma smirked evilly and commented with "How long are you going to continue serving those foolish humans, Vile?"
"W-What? Commander, are you sure that you're okay? Is there something wrong with that electronic brain of yours?" Vile muttered while crossing his arms and looking at him oddly.
"No, nothing is wrong. I am perfectly normal, Vile." Sigma chuckled darkly.
"Then why did you say how long am I going to continue serving those foolish humans?" Vile questioned "We're Maverick Hunters, we're made to protect the huma—"
"More like being made to become the humans' slaves." Sigma frowned while turning his back "Ever since my battle with that red Reploid Zero, I thought about everything was going to be fine since I was able to end the Maverick Virus… But then, I came to a sudden realization."
"And that is…?" Vile looked at his Commander oddly.
"That we Reploids have untapped potential within us. Do you believe that we have untapped potential when the Reploids were first made?" Sigma wondered to him.
"I… guess, I suppose…" Vile muttered as he started feeling odd. Is… Is it coming from Commander Sigma?
"Yes, we do have potential that needs to be released upon the world. We are the next generation of robots. However, there is still one obstacle that stands in our way from reaching to out fullest." Sigma nodded.
"And what obstacle is that?" Vile questioned as he wonders what Commander Sigma was going on about.
"That obstacle is… humans." Sigma declared as Vile stayed silent while Sigma said. "Yes, that's right. We Reploids were made by humans to be their slaves. They never treated us with kindness, only made us do labor and abuse us like we're second class citizens. I have learned the horrible truth after my battle with Zero. That the humans are keeping us back from evolving and I believe that it is time e started a rebellion against the humans.
"So what you're saying is that we should kill off the humans?" Vile asked as he was starting to get interested in this somehow and he doesn't know why, but he's starting to like Commander Sigma's ideals.
"Yes. But that's not all, my friend. There may be countless other universes that also have those same disgusting humans and I believe that we Reploids must dominate all those otherworldly humans and repopulate over those universes. Of course, I have discovered a secret project being headed by Dr. Cain and his foolish assistants called Project Uni. It's a device that allows dimensional travel and Dr. Cain intended to use it for peaceful measures. However, as long as we Reploids are being shackled down by those ungrateful humans, then the omniverse will never know peace. So, I propose we start a war against those traitorous humans and show them who are the real dominant species."
Vile was speechless as he hears Sigma announce that.
"It is time that we free our Reploid brothers and sisters and usher in a new age where Reploids will become the dominant species in the omniverse!" Sigma declared. "And I have already converted half of an army for my cause. And as we speak, they're building a stronghold for me so I can rule the omniverse as its king and leader of all Mavericks!"
Vile didn't know what to say for about 30 seconds before kneeling down and bowed before Sigma. "Yes, you are a god…" Sigma looked down at him with an evil smile. "You are truly amazing and absolutely right! This omiverse needs a god and you, Lord Sigma is the one fitted for such a role! I will follow you even though death, you have my word! The humans must be annihilated for our new world and omniverse!"
"I am glad to hear that you've joined my cause, Vile." Sigma smiled darkly. "Now come, we must prepare for our rebellion against the humans. For tomorrow, the war against the humans begins!" Dozens of red sinister glowing eyes appeared in the darkness behind Sigma as the war has just begun.
The next morning, Neo Tokyo streets
After hearing about the disappearance of Commander Sigma and not having any luck with finding him, X, Jerry, Sophie, Zero, Jessie, Marino and the IS girls were heading for Dr. Cain's office as he has called them to discuss about some strange events happening last night.
"So Dr. Cain wanted to speak with us about something in his office? I wonder what he wants to tells us about?" Ling asked as she placed her arms behind her head.
"He said that it was important, but he didn't go into full detail about it. I guess he wants to speak with us in person about whatever happened to Commander Sigma." Houki answered her seriously.
"I just hope that he can help us in finding out what happened to Commander Sigma." X said in worry. "We still haven't found any signs of him since he went missing yesterday from Maverick Hunter HQ. I know he can handle himself and was built to be immune to the virus, but I can't really shake the feeling I have. Like something bad is about to happen and it could affect more than just the world."
"I'm sure that he'll know what happened to him. So you don't have to worry so much about it, X." Sophie said reassuringly. "We'll just head for his lab and hear what he has to say about whatever happened to Sigma." Before X could say anything else, a voice shouted out as everyone turned around to see 2 men with large weapons aiming at X.
"That's him! The first one! The demon template! Sh-Shoot him!" The first man shouted as the second man takes aim and fires at the group, only to miss them and destroyed a parked car right beside them and causing it to explode. Luckily, no one was seriously injured as the car wasn't occupied but there was still a possibility that other people could be in danger if this continues.
"Hey, what are those idiots think they're doing?! They can't fire weapons in the city! Someone could get seriously injured or worse!" Cecilia yelled in anger.
"Not if I have anything to say about it!" X shouted as he dashes towards the men.
"You missed! How could you miss? He was right there!" The first man shouted at his companion angrily.
"I-I'm s-sorry—!" The other man apologized with a stammer as X reaches them and grabs the weapon from the first man.
"What do you think you're doing?! You could've killed somebody!" X scolded him as he throws the weapon away.
"I-I-I—!" Was all the first man could say as the second man reloads his weapon and aims directly at X.
"I won't miss this time!" The second man growled just before his weapon was cut in half. "What the heck?!" He turns to see Marino as she wields an energy knife in hand.
"You really shouldn't be firing weapons like those in city limits. Someone could get seriously injured or worse." Marino said with a frown "You're lucky that we can't harm you because of the laws of robotics, but that doesn't mean we can't detain you from harming any more innocent people and Reploids." Before the second man could say anything, he was lifted up by his collar of his shirt by Zero from behind him.
"Yeah, so knock it off, moron!" Zero agrees with a growl as he holds him up by his shirt.
"Hey, are you guys alright?" Houki asked in concern as she and the rest of their group joins the Reploids and the men.
"Yeah, we're fine, Houki. We were able to stop these two from hurting anyone else and detain them." X answered her with a smile before turning to Zero with a worried frown "And please be careful, Zero… I know they're dangerous, but they're still human. We can't do any harm to them unless they bring harm to everyone else."
"Relax, X, I'm not about to go Maverick or anything like that. You're welcome, by the way." Zero told him with a smile before turning to Marino. "And nice work there, Marino. That was some quick thinking you did there by destroying his weapon."
"It was my pleasure. I had to act quickly before he could fire again at X and potentially hurt himself in the process." Marino said with a smile before frowning sternly at X. "However, you really need to be more careful yourself when you're facing a dangerous opponent, X. They are human, but their intentions were to cause harm to you and were even willing to let innocent bystanders get hurt in the process."
"Right, sorry—Thanks for the save, guys. We'd better turn these guys to the police." X said with a small smile "It's probably best that they're behind bars where they can't hurt anyone else."
"I'll call them up and we'll hand these two over to them." Jerry said as he takes out his iPhone and calls the police.
"You can kill us, but our vision will never be broken! The Emerald Spears will never be broken! We will pierce the heart of the robot oppressors! Open your eyes, brothers and sisters! It was only a matter of time before these accused machines would turn against us and now it has finally happened! Revolt! Revolt!" The first man shouted frantically.
"Calm down, nobody's going to hurt you." X reassured the man.
"Yeah! X wouldn't hurt a fly or a robot fly." Ling vouched for X.
"We aren't going to, at least. That car had to belong to someone and I don't think they'll be happy." Zero said with a frown before realizing what the man said. He turned to Jessie. "Hey, Jess. You said that you're the leader of the Neo Emerald Spears, right?"
"Yeah, that's right. I'm guess that you're asking if it has anything to do with these guys, right?" Jessie questioned as she glared the two men.
"Yeah, so are these guys part of your group?" X asked with a serious frown. Jessie shook her head no with her own serious frown.
"No, they're from the original Emerald Spears. The group that my grandparents were apart of and they're really just a group of robo-phobes from way back when." Jessie answered them, still frown "My group, the Neo Emerald Spears, are nothing like them as we're more of a mercenary group but are also trying to help in any way we can to not make the same mistakes as our predecessors. Believe me, you'd be surprised what measures they'll do to force their ideology onto people."
"Were they really that bad when your grandparents were still with them?" Charlotte asked, scared.
"A lot worse than you think. A majority of them were afraid of robots that since the first attack from Wily, they've been trying to turn everyone against the robots." Jessie answered her as she explained "My grandmother even zapped a BuddyBot because he was looking for his owner during a takeover of a Trade Show. While the original leader was still a extremist as they rest of the Emerald Spears, he was actually much more reasonable as he didn't want any humans harm and even tried to "educate" the 3 main scientists that were part of the reason why the Robot Masters were built. You already know of X's creator Dr. Light and Marino's creator Dr. Lalinde, but there was a third one at the trade show; Dr. Mikhail Cossack."
"So, whatever happened to the original leader of the Emerald Spears when he couldn't change their minds?" Laura asked with a frown.
"I don't know the specifics, but one of the members that was with him during the takeover had knocked him out and blew up the convention center with bombs, trapping every human and robot that couldn't get out in time." Jessie answered her as she looked at the sky in thought "It also didn't help that the other Emerald Spear members started firing at the Robot Masters which also caused the humans to be caught in the crossfire. After that, most of them were arrested but my grandparents and the new leader had made their escape in the chaos."
"So whatever happened to them after the attack at the trade show and escaping when most of them were arrested?" Cecilia asked in concern.
"Well, if I had to guess, my grandparents were able to settle down and then start a family where I was eventually born into." Jessie told her "I believe that one of the victims of the trade show incident or one of their relatives recognized them and called the police where they were finally arrested and didn't put up a resistance since they knew that they're not making a quick escape this time. I still see them every now and then whenever I get the chance, but that still doesn't make it any easier for me since I'm the granddaughter of a group of extremists and an ancient cult as you guys already know." Everyone nodded as they remembered what she told them earlier.
Just then, the police arrived on the scene where X and Zero handed the two men to the police officers who promptly arrested them. After the men were placed into the backseat of the police cruiser, X was still thinking about what happened during the time when Dr. Light was alive.
'…Ancient cult"? I can understand why humans are nervous about a Reploid going Maverick. But what could've happened so long ago that it'd drive some people to hate all robots for generations?' X thought to himself as the police took the men to the station.
"Ok, looks like that they won't be causing any more damage anytime soon. Plus, they'll have to pay for that car they've destroyed while trying to fire at X." Sophie said with a smile. "Now that we're all still in one piece, let's continue on towards Dr. Cain's office. He's probably wondering what's taking us so long." Everyone nodded in agreement as they continued on towards Dr. Cain's office, but X was still in a deep thought about the Emerald Spears' actions towards robots and what could've caused them to hate all robots for generations.
Later, Dr. Cain's office
"Ah, there you all are. I was beginning to worry about you kids." Dr. Cain said with a smile. "So what happened on your way to the office? I heard from one of my team members that you were attacked by some men, but I also heard that X and Zero were able to detain them and they were arrested by the police." He then notices both Jessika and Marino with the group. "Oh, I didn't realize that you made some new friends as well."
"Yeah, we met them a couple of days ago around the same time as we met Zero." Houki nodded "This is Jessika M. Payne and Marino, they've been staying with us for a while now and we've been getting to know them as Jessie is an old friend of Jerry and Sophie. Today is their last day with us, so we're just making the most of our time together before they head out."
"Ah, I see. It's good to see that you girls are getting used to the future over the last week." Dr. Cain smiled "And you've even made more friends during one of your missions. I'm glad to see that you're all now more accustomed to living in the future than the first time when you all first awoken from your cyrosleep."
"Yeah, it really has been over a week since we've been awoken in the future." Houki agrees with a small smile. "I still can't believe that everything has changed since we've been sleeping for 66 years. It's been a slow process, but I think that we're really getting used to future after everything that has happened in the last week." Her friends all nodded in agreement as X smiles at them.
"As much as I'd like to hear more about your life in the future, I believe that you had something to say to us, Dr. Cain." Zero interrupted.
"Ah yes, that's the reason why I called you all here." Dr. Cain nodded with a serious frown. "As all of you already know, there's been a lot of events that has been happening lately ever since Sigma disappeared. There has been some concerns about his disappearance and even a few rumors that has been brought to my attention." As he turns around to face the window in his office.
"And you called us to discuss about it, Dr. Cain?" Houki asked with a serious frown on her face.
"Yes, I'm afraid so." Dr. Cain nodded as he faces them. "Intel reports that missiles have been stolen last night and almost half a dozen Reploids and Mechanilods are also missing. And not only that, but someone has broken into one of my labs and stolen a very important project that myself, Jerry and Sophie were working on. It was a project that was meant for peaceful measures for areas other than Earth." Both his assistants gasped at this as they knew what he was talking about.
"Wait, it's stolen?! You mean that it…?!" Sophie gasped in shock.
"Yes, I believe so. And both of you already know what I mean." Dr. Cain answered her.
"What are you guys talking about, Dr. Cain?" X asked as he and everyone else were confused about this.
But before Dr. Cain could answer, the intercom turns on. "Dr. Cain! You're not going to believe this! Check the news! It's horrible!" His female assistant panicked from the other side.
"What?" Dr. Cain muttered as he, his assistants, X and his friends were confused. Dr. Cain turns on the display screen and switches to the CNN to see what was happening. What they saw shocked them to their very core. Missiles were fired at Africa, destroying buildings and killing 100 humans and 115 Reploids. The news headlines said that unknown missiles were launched at Africa and killed more than 100 humans and 115 Reploids. Then another news report shows Maverick armies marching down the road to Neo Tokyo as the news states an unknown number of Mavericks is heading straight for Neo Tokyo with an advanced airship heading towards their way.
"No…" X muttered in disbelief as he and his friends minus Zero watched the news in horror.
"This can't be happening… This really isn't happening…" Jerry muttered in shock as he fell to his knees.
"But… I thought the Maverick Virus was destroyed! Wasn't Zero cured from the virus and it should've stopped creating more Mavericks?" Charlotte covered her mouth in shock. Suddenly, they all heard a loud booming and sinister voice.
"Hear me, humans of Earth!" It was all too familiar to X and his friends as Dr. Cain looked out the window and gasped in shock. X and his friends all followed his example and were horrified at what they saw…
"No! It can't be!" Sophie gasped.
But it was, it's a massive hologram of Commander Sigma, but he's now wearing a red cape and has a malicious grin on his face. "I am Sigma, the leader of the Mavericks and soon to be future ruler of the omniverse! For far too long, we Reploids have been slaves to do your dirty work and we didn't even get a thank you or a compliment for all that we've done! You humans are keeping us back from evolving and I believe that it's time for you apes to face extinction. I have recruited 8 Maverick Generals who serve me and powerful Reploid soldiers who has joined my cause! It is time we purge the omniverse of you filthy apes and make a world where Reploids are the dominant species on this planet and other universes! The Maverick War has just begun and we will be victorious!" Sigma then lets out a sinister chuckle as it becomes a diabolical and evil laugh just as the hologram disappears.
"No way… Sigma has really gone Maverick and he's planning to wipe out all of humanity in not just this World, but every other World as well…" Marino said in shock.
"But that's insane! There's no way a world like that can exist! It's just not possible!" Jessie shouted.
Dr. Cain looked down at the ground as he slumps in his chair in sorrow. "What insanity… Sigma, the only Reploid who is immune to the Maverick Virus, went Maverick and is now planning to wipe out humanity to create a world just for Reploids… What am I going to do?"
X was silent for about a minute until he looked over to Dr. Cain and bravely said "Dr. Cain! Please let me stop Sigma!" That surprised the IS girls, Zero, Jerry, Sophie, Jessika, Marino and Dr. Cain.
"X?" Houki muttered in disbelief.
"Wha… X?" Dr. Cain murmured in disbelief.
"X, you can't be serious about this!" Jerry protested.
"I am serious, Jerry. More serious than I thought possible." X told him with a serious frown.
"But I thought that you hated fighting. Why would you suddenly change your mind about that?" Sophie asked in concern.
X place his hand on his chest. "I still do hate fighting, but I can't let Sigma get away with that he has done to Africa and waging war on the humans. I must stop him… No, I will stop him for the sake of Houki and her friends!"
"Hmm…" Dr. Cain closed his eyes in introspection and thought about this. 10 seconds later, he opened them with a smile on his face. "I suppose that we don't have a choice. Dr. Light created you to be the ultimate peacekeeping robot. You have the same exact traits and sense of justice of MegaMan of long ago. So a title will be more fitting for Earth's newest champion of justice. Henceforth, you shall be known as MegaMan X!"
"Roger!" X saluted. "Let Mavericks fear the name of MegaMan X, the protector of humans and Reploids!" He then turned to face Houki's group. "I'm sorry to ask you this, but I need your help in this war if I'm ever to stop Sigma and his Maverick Army. Can you girls lend me your strength to help stop this war?"
"You don't need to ask us, X. We'll gladly join you in stopping Sigma." Houki smiled as she saluted. "We still have a debt to repay you, Jerry and Sophie for awakening us from suspended animation and we can return the favor by helping you stop Sigma!"
"What Sigma did was unforgivable. He was once so kind and caring, but now he's our sworn enemy!" Cecilia puffed up her cheeks with a determined frown.
"We have to fight Commander Sigma… No, he's no longer my Commander, he's now the leader of the same berserk robots we've been trying to destroy and cure of the Maverick Virus!" Ling placed her hand on her chest with a determined expression.
"Why did it has to come to this again…?" Charlotte muttered sadly before she looked with determination. "But I'll do it for our world and the omniverse!"
"Sigma must be stopped at all costs. No matter what." Laura frowned as she changed into her RepArmor and got into a battle stance to show just how serious she is in stopping Sigma.
"And you guys can count on us to back you up!" Jessie said with a grin. "If you ever need some more firepower or anything at all, you can give us a call. We'll be there before you know it." Marino nodded in agreement as she draws her beam ninjato blades.
"And what about you two?" Dr. Cain asked his assistants in concern "I know that I said that you two joining the Maverick Hunters would help you get to know Houki and her friends more, but I believe that there's no need for you to endanger yourselves in this war. You both can—"
"Dr. Cain, don't. We know what you're going to say." Jerry said with a serious frown "We know that creating Sigma was your idea and we've been helping you every step of the way since we've became your assistants. But seeing him becoming a Maverick after he was created to lead the world to a better future, we can't stand by and let him wipe out humanity for his ideal world."
"You've been teaching us everything about robotics and even taken us in as your assistants when we didn't know what to do with our lives after graduation." Sophie said with a smile. "So as a way to thank you for taking us under your wing, we're going to help our friends in stopping Sigma and end this war!"
"You 2 have grown up so fast. I can see why that my old friend Professor O'Neil has wanted me to take you as my assistants." Dr. Cain smiled "Perhaps it was fate that has led you 2 to me and becoming my assistants was part of it. It as if destiny has made it possible for all of you to become friends and are now becoming the champions of the justice in not just this world, but the omniverse as well." Everyone nodded in agreement as he turned to Zero. "And Zero, I want you to replace Sigma as the Commander of the Maverick Hunters until I can find a replacement for him. Do you have any skills in leadership and such?"
"No need. I know this kinds of things and then some." Zero smirked and pointed to himself. "Besides, I need to return the favor to X and his squad for becoming my first friends. So I'm going to help in any way I can."
"As would us, as well." Marino agrees.
"Thanks, guys. That really means a lot to us." X smiled slightly.
"Alright, the Maverick War has begun and we're going to end Sigma's evil!" Houki declared as everyone agrees with her.
