Chapter 3: Motherly Mitzi

We now cut over to the Little Daisy Cafe on a quiet lit up street. Mitzi May, the current head of the Lackadaisy, was sitting alone up in her office reading a newspaper.

"Oh now this is an interesting story. Former high ranking employee gets fired after tricking CEO into sitting on an egg. *giggles* Well isn't that something." The golden furred female cat giggled before turning to the next page

"Hmmmm...Now aside from that, it looks like Stetson hat prices are set to soar as supply is running short this month. Well it's a good thing I don't wear those kind of hats." Mitzi said as she read over the page before her

Suddenly Mitzi's ears perk up when she hears the sound of an approaching automobile from outside. Curious, she folds up the newspaper sets it on her desk before walking over to the window. Mitzi opens up the window and looks outside of her office to see Ivy and her crew pulling up in their car down on the street.

Mitzi was a bit surprised to see their car was fully intact in one piece with no bullet holes anywhere on it whatsoever indicating that their bootleg run went smooth without any hostile conflict involved.

"Well I'll be. They made it back safe and sound. That's a first." Mitzi smiled before shutting the window

Mitzi then grabs her fluffy fur scarf off of her desk and throws it around herself before leaving her office

"Well see you later Atlas. I gotta go down and do a supply check." Mitzi said talking to the portrait painting of her deceased husband behind her desk

Mitzi started making her way down to the Lackadaisy with her high heels clicking on every step.

Meanwhile

After parking their car in the garage, Rocky and Freckle make their way into the speakeasy with their hands full of unharmed fresh bottles of bootleg alcohol. Ivy followed behind them with Theo holding her hand.

Inside the Lackadaisy speakeasy, the atmosphere was dull and quiet as usual. Viktor was behind the bar cleaning glass cups with a towel while everyone else sat around relaxing quietly. The only sound that was breaking the silence in the air was one of the band cats on stage strumming gentle tunes on a bass cello.

Suddenly Rocky and Freckle enter the room.

"WE ARE BACK YALL! And we brought tons of goodies with us this time! Special delivery!" Rocky shouted making his grand entrance as he and Freckle presented their large supply of bottles in their hands

*silence*

And of course nobody in the room seemed to care. Regardless, Rocky and Freckle walk over to the bar and set all the bottles down before having a seat.

"Well well, this is quite a large number you brought back this time." Viktor said as he picked up one of the bottles and examined it closely

"Indeed. Are you impressed big boy?" Rocky grinned

Viktor only growled in response before he opened up the bottle and started pouring the fresh alcohol into some small glasses.

Finally Ivy Pepper shows up into the room with Theo Flakes next to her.

"Well here we are sweety! Welcome to our Lackadaisy! Please make yourself warm!" Ivy smiled like a friendly hostess as she gestured for Theo to walk ahead of her

The young tuxedo kitten was slightly amazed as he took in the sight of the large establishment he walked into with Ivy. This was the first time he's ever been into a fancy place for adults only.

"Woah." Theo lightly exclaimed as he looked around

"Pretty fancy. Right?" Ivy smiled

As Ivy was showing Theo around the room, Viktor noticed the young child from where he stood and instantly got mad.

"HEY! WHAT GIVES!?" Viktor loudly shouted causing everyone in the room to jump and the cello player cat to cease strumming

Ivy also jumped from hearing Viktor's outburst as her blood ran cold. Including Theo's.

"Young lady! What is that child doing here!?" Viktor asked Ivy in an irritated tone as he sharply pointed at the young kitten next to her

"*gulp* Uh-Oh!" Ivy said as she knew she was in for a big problem

"Aw Hell. I knew this was a very bad idea." Rocky thought as he watched the trouble unfold

Freckle on the other hand was sweating on his forehead and silently saying a quick prayer for Ivy and Theo.

"Now you know very well that this is no place for children! Why do you bring an underaged minor into our establishment!?" Viktor asked

Ivy tried to give her reason for bringing Theo.

"Oh well he's an orphan I found. I took him in because-"

"An orphan? AN ORPHAN!? You know what save your excuses! Take that little stray out of here and put him back where you found him or you're in big trouble! I'm sure the madam herself wouldn't approve of this!" Viktor shouted stopping Ivy mid sentence

"B-But I can't! He has no parents anymore! I can assure you he won't be any trou-"

"I said dispose of him at once or i'll DO IT MYSELF!" Viktor growled with his teeth bearing as he squeezed a shot glass in his large fist crushing it to pieces

Theo was now very scared of the large male cat with an eyepatch that he quickly hid behind Ivy's legs while shaking like a leaf. Upon seeing poor Theo frightened and hearing Viktor's threat, Ivy immediately got defensive.

"Now listen here big mister! If you lay your paw on this poor baby, you are so going to wish you were never born!" Ivy warned firmly

Ivy didn't care anymore about being in trouble or whatever was going to happen to her. She was going to protect Theo with her life and not let Viktor get ten feet close to him. Viktor on the other hand was getting more ticked by Ivy's refusal as he slammed his fist on the bar.

"Are you hard of hearing young lady!? I SAID-"

"HEY!" A older feminine voice shouted getting everyone's attention bringing silence to the room once again

Ivy and Viktor along with everyone else all looked over to the source of the voice who was none other than Mitzi May herself who showed up at just the right time before things got way out of hand.

Mitzi first looks over at Viktor with a disappointed expression on her face.

"Viktor, would you mind telling me what you are exploding about? What's all the ruckus going on here?" Mitzi asked firmly

"Well good thing you're here madam. Miss Pepper over there has brought a little minor into our establishment." Viktor explained

"A mi-...You mean like a child?" Mitzi asked

"Yes a child! A kitten! See for yourself!" Viktor urged gesturing over to Ivy

With that, Mitzi looks over to Ivy and sees a little kitten boy hiding behind her legs. She couldn't believe her eyes.

"Um Hello madam Mitzi." Ivy said with a wave trying to keep things cool

Mitzi takes a deep breath before she calmly walks over to Ivy until she was face to face with her. Viktor on the other hand was grinning to himself thinking that Mitzi was going to have Theo thrown out at an orphanage immediately.

"Miss Pepper, is that really a child you brought in here?" Mitzi asked calmly

"Yes...I can explain." Ivy answered

"I see." Mitzi said before she knelt down to the floor to get a good look at Theo

Theo slowly and nervously peeks around Ivy's legs to find a beautiful golden furred cat looking at him with gentle eyes. Mitzi smiled lightly upon seeing the little kitten.

"Why hello there young one." Mitzi greeted the small child

Theo was slowly starting to calm down from hearing Mitzi's gentle voice and seeing her assuring expression.

"Come on out. It's okay." Mitzi smiled as she held out her gloved paw

Slowly and hesitantly, Theo steps out from behind Ivy and takes slow steps up to Mitzi.

"That's it. Can you come here please?" Mitzi asked nicely as she held out both her paws gesturing for the tuxedo kitten to come forward more

Theo was still pretty shy that he hardly moved a muscle.

"It's alright. I won't hurt you dear. You can come to me. That's it." Mitzi assured in a soft motherly tone

Theo took more steps until he was close enough to grab hold one of Mitzi's soft paws. The older female cat gently squeezed his paw in return.

"There we go. You like how soft my hand feels?" Mitzi smiled

Not feeling shy anymore, Theo gets very close enough to Mitzi and allows her to scoop him up and cradle him in her warm arms.

"My you are such a cute little dear aren't you." Mitzi smiled before she lovingly nuzzled the kitten boy in her arms

Theo smiled as he snuggled closer into Mitzi's embrace while purring.

Ivy on the other hand couldn't help but smile at the sweet interaction before her.

Meanwhile back over at the bar, Rocky and Freckle both smiled and let out sighs of relief. However Viktor wasn't satisfied of the situation as he had his jaw dropped.

"What the hell? Are you serious?" Viktor thought

After the tender nuzzling and purring with Theo, Mitzi looks at Ivy with a concerned expression.

"Miss Pepper, would you follow me to my office please." Mitzi ordered

"Yes ma'am." Ivy obeyed as they both made their way out of the speakeasy with Theo
