Chapter 22: Battle Plan
The pups slept all that day and all that night. When they finally woke up Chase gathered them up for a strategy plan meeting.
"Okay, we need to come up with a plan to get our friends back. First of all we need more information on Humdinger and his plan and/or hideout," Chase said.
"I could pick up my brother and we could go to Foggy Bottoms and spy on Humdinger. Tuck is a U.S intelligence spy you know," Ella said.
"That sounds like a good idea; just be careful," Chase said.
"Don't worry about us; we do this kind stuff on a regular work day," Ella said with a grin.
With that she dismissed herself and headed off to get Tuck.
"I could try and talk to Spot again. I think now that we've reconciled with each other he'll be more willing to share information," Marshal said.
"And I could try and see if I could get a shipment of weapons and ammunition from Captain Turbot," Ryder said.
"And I'll talk to the chief of police to get help from them. Paw-fect plan for now, let's roll PAW Patrol," Chase said.
With that the pups set out to do their part in the plan. Marshal went to the Adventure county jail to talk with his brother, and Ryder went down to the docks to find Captain Turbot. Chase went to the police station and Tuck and Ella were on the way to Foggy Bottoms.
Marshal drove towards the jail to talk with his brother. On the way he thought about Everest and about how cruel Humdinger was. It made him sad to think about what Humdinger was doing to his Evey.
"Don't worry Evey, I'm coming for you," Marshal said as he pulled up to the jail.
Marshal walked until he came to Spot's kennel.
"Hello Spot," Marshal said.
"Oh Marshal, How you doing big Bro," Spot said with a smile.
"I'm doing okay. I just wanted to know if you'd be willing to tell me more about Humdinger's plans, He has my Evey and I want her back," Marshal said.
Spot hung his head as he knew that he was the one who tricked and pup-napped Everest.
"Of course Marshal; I'm done with Humdinger, and I'm, uh sorry for what I did too your Everest, I really am," Spot said.
"I forgive you Spot. You can make up for it by telling me how to get her back," Marshal said.
Spot smiled and looked back up at Marshal.
"Of course bro; you see, He paid us to pup-nap you and we couldn't resist the money he offered. He also made us steal stuff for him and he would always cheat us out of the money we stole," Spot said.
"Were you guys his only gang?" Marshal asked.
"Of course not; Humdingers dumb but he's not that dumb. He has gangs planted all over the place."
"Where at does he have gangs planted?" Marshal asked.
"Oh multiple in Adventure City, a few in builders cove, some in George Town, and even in Foggy Bottoms."
"What's he doing with all that stolen money," Marshal said with shock.
"That I don't know, I've only been to his base once, and I will say that it is highly guarded. He's probably using the money to fund his super weapon," Spot said.
"Then again he could just be stocking up on top hats," Marshal joked.
The two dally's laughed at the joke.
"That's about all I know; sorry it's not more," Spot said.
"It's okay Spot; it helps us a lot, thank you for sharing. I really want to rebuild our relationship. I promise to be a better brother from now on," Marshal said.
"I do too Marsh. See you again soon big bro," Spot said.
"You take care of yourself Spot; oh and I'll see what I can do about reducing the severity of your sentence," Marshal said.
Marshal and Spot hugged each other and Marshal went back to the lookout. Meanwhile Chase was at the police station to discuss their situation with the police Chief. He knocked on a door that said Chief Brian.
"Who is it," was the response he got.
"Officer Chase of the PAW Patrol; we have a situation," Chase said.
"Ah yes, come on in Officer Chase sir," Chief Brian said.
Chase entered the room and sat down at the desk with Chief Brian.
"What's the situation officer?" Brian asked.
"As you've probably already heard most of the PAW Patrol pups have been pup-napped. Well we found out where they're being held," Chase said.
"Where are they at; who took them?"
"Foggy Bottoms, Mayor Humdinger's evil schemes again," Chase said.
"How many men will you need?" Brian asked.
"See that's just it, I don't know how highly guarded it is. I'll find that out once Tuck and Ella get back from spying on Mayor Humdinger," Chase said.
"Well contact me once you get more information and we'll be ready to help," Brian said.
"Thanks Chief. I'll let you know when we get the information and we can meet again," Chase said.
Chase then went back to the lookout. Meanwhile Ryder was down at the docks searching for Captain Turbot. He found the captain aboard his ship, The Flounder.
"Oy Ryder, how's my friend doing this fine morning?" Captain Turbot said.
"I'm doing fine, but I need a favor," Ryder said.
"Anything for my favorite, furry, canine rescue team," Turbot said.
"We've found out who took my pups," Ryder said.
"What, who would be so evil as to pup-nap our precious canine pals."
"Humdinger, who else," Ryder said.
"I should have known. What do you need to defeat that vile, little excuse of a mayor," Turbot said, anger seething in his mind.
"Weapons and ammunition; we don't know how many or what kind of weapons we'll need, but we'll know soon once Tuck and Ella get back from Foggy Bottoms."
"Just say the word and I'll have a shipment in 3 days flat."
"Thanks Captain. I'll let you know what we need and when we need it," Ryder said.
"Sure thing; good luck Ryder," Captain Turbot said.
With that taken care of, Ryder went back to the lookout.
And while all of this is going on in Adventure Bay, Tuck and Ella were in Foggy Bottoms spying on Humdinger. They sat on the cliff overlooking Humdingers hideout. Tuck used his government issued spy binoculars to get a closer look.
"What do you see Tuck?" Ella asked.
"Mm, guards, lots of em, perhaps hundreds, armed with AK-47s and, oh you've got to be kidding me," Tuck said.
"What's the problem?" Ella asked.
"Machine gun towers, on either side of the entrance. Where on earth did he get the money for that," Tuck said.
"I don't know, but one thing's for sure. This ain't dumb old Humdinger we're dealing with. It's a whole freaking terrorist cell!" Ella said.
"I'm going in for more information," Tuck said, putting his binoculars away.
"What, no, it's too dangerous, they'll be expecting this," Ella warned.
"They won't be expecting a pup the size of a fly though," Tuck said with a grin.
Tuck put on a flight suit and pack. He then shrunk down to the size of a fly and he took off towards the fortress. He flew up to the stone wall as silent as a feather. He found an air vent near the iron entrance. He navigated himself through the vents until he found the throne. He scanned the room for any sign of his friends, eventually he spotted them locked in a cage in the corner of the room. He flew down and landed on Zuma's shoulder.
"Pst, Zuma," Tuck said.
"Huh, did you say my name Rocky?" Zuma asked.
"Uh, no, I didn't say your name," Rocky said with confusion.
"Huh, did you say my name Rubble?" Zuma asked.
"No dude, no one said your name," Rubble said.
"Dude, I must be going insane, I could have sworn I heard my name."
"You did Zuma, on your shoulder," Tuck said.
Zuma looked over on his shoulder in confusion and gasped at the sight of Tuck sitting on his shoulder. Tuck grew to his normal size.
"Oh my, gosh Tuck?" Zuma said.
"Shhh, I was sent here by Chase to find you guys," Tuck whispered.
"Well you sure did; I knew God would send help," Rocky said.
"I can't get you out by myself, too many guards, but I know where you are now," Tuck said.
Suddenly the sounds of voices filled the hallway.
"Uh oh, I got to go, but don't worry, help is coming," Tuck said before shrinking back down.
Tuck flew back up to the vent. He started to navigate himself back out; until he spotted Humdinger talking with some men in white lab coats. He stopped to listen in.
"When will it be ready?" Humdinger asked.
"I don't know sir, but soon. It is unknown how much time it will take but we're really close," One of the men said.
"Well hurry up already. Once my weapon is complete I'll finally be able to destroy the Paw Patrol once and for all," Humdinger yelled.
"Oh I don't think so, not if I have anything to do with it," Tuck whispered.
Tuck flew down and quietly popped the button on Humdinger's pants.
"AH, what the, how did that happen," Humdinger screamed, holding his pants up.
The men around him started laughing and Tuck giggled as he flew off towards the exit.
Meanwhile Ella waited on the cliff for him to return. She thought about how they were going to get into this thing. She watched the guards and studied their movements. She discovered that every fifteen minutes the guards rotated their positions.
"Well one thing's certain, we're not getting anywhere near that base unless we take out the machine gun towers," Ella said to herself.
Suddenly Tuck appeared right next to her.
"Ah, oh, don't sneak up on me like that," Ella scolded.
"I've got good news, and I've got bad news," Tuck said.
"Oh, what's the good news?" Ella asked.
"I found our friends."
"And the bad news," Ella asked.
"His super weapon is almost complete!" Tuck said.
"We'd better get this info back to the PAW Patrol," Ella said.
The two got in their mighty pup vehicle and drove back to Adventure Bay. The pups all met back at the lookout.
"Did you guys find anything?" Chase asked.
"We've got so much to tell you," Tuck said.
"Great, we'll have a meeting tomorrow morning to discuss what you found. It's getting late," Chase said.
The pups agreed and went to their pup houses to sleep. In the morning after breakfast the pups met in the lookout to discuss the evidence they all found.
"All right, Tuck and Ella what did you find at Foggy Bottoms on Mayor Humdinger's cave," Chase asked.
"First of all let's get one thing straight: Humdinger's not as dumb as we thought he was," Ella said.
"Yeah, his fortress is guarded by hundreds of guards armed with AK-47s and the entrance is guarded by two machine gun towers, with many security gates and cameras," Tuck said.
"That explains it, Spot told me that he has gangs planted all over the place, so now I know what he's doing with all of that money he's stealing," Marshal said.
"And I also found out he's building a super weapon and the bad news is it's almost complete," Tuck said.
"Well that makes things a whole lot worse," Chase said with a sigh.
"Chase, what do we do now? We need to strike before his weapon is complete," Marshal said.
"We're not doing anything until Heeler gives Skye the OK to go on this mission," Chase said.
"I'll go on ahead and order that arms and ammunition shipment from Captain Turbot," Ryder said.
"And I'll set a time for us to meet with the police to discuss our course of action. Until then I don't know what to do," Chase said.
"I guess I'll go see if Heeler needs my help at the hospital. She always likes it when help," Marshal said.
"After I set a time for the police meeting I think I'll stop by the hospital to and hang out with Skye," Chase said.
After that the pups all went their separate ways. Chase contacted Chief Brian and set a time the next day to meet with the police to talk about a plan. After that Chase went to go check on his girlfriend. He walked up and gently knocked on Skye's hospital door.
"Come on in Chasey," Skye said.
"Hi honey bun, how you feeling?" Chase asked.
"Oh I'm feeling so much better Chasey. Heeler and the other doctors got me up and walking a little bit yesterday, and now I'm feeling great," Skye said with a smile.
"That's good to hear my sweet little angel," Chase said.
The two naturally kissed each other. Chase started to update her on all that had happened the past couple of days.
"So we found out that the one responsible for pup-napping our friends is none other than Humdinger. And he's holding them in a highly organized terrorist cell," Chase explained.
"I should have known it would be Humdinger. This time we'll put up a fight and end his reign of terror once and for all. I'm hungry Chase, Hungry to get out of this bed and fight for what's right," Skye said, holding her fist high in the air.
"I'm hungry too Skye, I'm hungry to free our friends and bring Humdinger to justice," Chase said, clasping his fist around Skye's raised paw.
Chase locked eyes with Skye; a fire of her desire to fight was burning in her eyes. Smiles of determination formed on both of their faces.
"We will save our friends, Humdinger's kingdom will finally end," Chase said.
"And the city of Adventure Bay will be free from his terrorism. And we will stop at nothing to accomplish this freedom," Skye said.
The two clenched their fist together tightly and howled in determination. A fire burned in their eyes, a fire of hope and determination to save their friends.
"Watch out Humdinger," Skye started.
"Cause you just lit a fire you can't control," Chase said, completing Skye's sentence.
At that moment, Dr. Heeler came in to check on Skye.
"Good morning Chase," Heeler said.
"Good morning to you too Heeler," Chase said back.
"Alright Skye let's take a look at your side," Heeler said, barking out her medical kit.
Heeler carefully removed the old bandages on Skye's side and took a good look at the old wound.
"Oh wow, that's healing up real nicely," Heeler said putting some new bandages around Skye's side.
"How much longer until I can get out and help my friends;" Skye asked with anticipation.
"I'd say we keep you here for two more days just in case, and then take it easy for at least another three days before you try and infiltrate a terrorist cell," Heeler said putting her medical kit away.
"Aw, I want to get out now, I'm so bored of just sitting here doing nothing," Skye whined with disappointment.
"I know you're dying to get out of here honey bun, but the doctor knows what she's talking about," Chase said.
Skye sighed and then smiled at Chase. Chase spent the rest of the day as well as stayed the night with her. The next morning the pups all met at the police station to talk about the plan. With help from Marshal and Dr. Heeler, Skye was able to join them. They all sat down around a table with Chief Brian at the head.
"Okay, let's start with what we know. Tuck will you share what you and Ella found at Foggy Bottoms," Chase asked.
"Sure thing Chase; so what we have found is that Humdinger's base is unlike any old hideout of a common criminal. It is a max security fortress with hundreds of guards and two machine gun towers guarding the entrance. Humdinger is the leader of a whole terrorist cell here," Tuck said.
"Wow, are you sure we don't need the homeland security or the National Guard?" Brian asked.
"No, at least not yet; all we need to do is extract our friends, then we can deal with the terrorist cell." Chase said.
"You're not getting anywhere near that thing unless you take out those machine gun towers, which I could handle," Ella said.
"I'll split my guys in half and one half will be with Miss Ella for back up if we need it. And the rest of them will go with you pups into the base," Brian said.
"Remember as soon as Ella takes the gunmen out they'll sound the alarm, so we'll have to be quick," Chase said.
"The quicker we find our friends, the quicker we can get out of there," Marshal said.
"That sounds like a solid plan. Get in, find our friends, and get out. And remember also the attack won't happen until Skye hear is given the Okay from Dr. Heeler. Until the time comes, train hard and be prepared for when the time does come." Chase said.
Everybody agreed to the plan and the meeting was done. After Chase and Marshal took Skye back to the hospital they went to the shooting range to target practice. They chose two lanes right next to each other. Chase loaded his Glock 22, and Marshal loaded his revolver.
"You ready Chase," Marshal said looking over at him.
"Always ready, let's shoot," Chase said putting on his hearing protection.
They began to sink round after round of brass bullets into the targets. Chase fired his weapon in calm and controlled manner. He was able hit his target accurately. Marshal on the other paw was not very calm, and he was most certainly not controlled. He clenched his gun tightly in his paw, and his shots went everywhere in his lane. A fire burned in the Dally's heart, he was ready to get his Everest back; He practiced until he had completely destroyed 3 targets and emptied about 20 boxes ammo.
"You okay Marsh, You seem really aggravated?" Chase asked with concern.
"Gah, no, I'm not okay, My Evey is still trapped, and who knows what that vile cockroach is doing to her. You've got Skye, and I've got no one here with me to love," Marshal said, tears streaming down his face.
"Oh Marshal, we'll get your Everest back, I know we will. Because a PAW Patroller never gives up, PAW Patrol code, rule 4: Always finish the Mission and rule 2: Help others always no matter the cost," Chase said.
Marshal wiped the tears from his eyes and smiled at Chase. Naturally they hugged each other.
"I think we've done enough target practice for today, it's getting late, let's go home," Chase said.
Marshal agreed and the two went back to the lookout. They went to bed with a hope that they would see their friends soon.
But what they didn't know was that something dark and sinister had happened in Foggy Bottoms. Mayor Humdinger sat in his office studying his evil plan when a man in white lab coat entered the room.
"Mayor Humdinger, sir," The man said.
"What do you want," Humdinger said with annoyance.
"Your weapon is ready sir," The man said with an evil grin.
"Good, now I will destroy the PAW Patrol once and for all, Muhahahah," Humdinger said with a blood curdling laugh.
It's really happening; the attack on Humdingers terrorist cell is planned. But his super weapon is complete, what will happen to the PAW Patrol! Will they win, or will Humdinger finally taste victory, come back next week for THE LAST CHAPTER in Adventures of the PAW Patrol.
