Chapter 4
The scouts started out by searching the healers and clinics in Bonesborough. Janice who works at a clinic in the middle of town. Sent a message to the other clinics. Isis got the message and quickly. Got to work counseling the secret part of her clinic. The coven scouts arrived at Isis's clinic an hour after she finished. They showed the document to Isis. She let them into her clinic and let them search. Two hours later the coven scouts finished their search and left. Isis waited a while and then removed the spell. Then she went into the secret part of her clinic. She went into Lilith's room and checked on her. Then she gave Lilith some medicine. By that evening the scouts made it to Eda's house.
Hooty spotted them and extended himself to attack. But they held up the document and said "Halt we have a legal document. And orders from Emperor Belos to search the owl lady's home." Hooty went back to the door and said "Umm Eda the coven scouts are here. And the have a legal document and orders to search the house." Eda quickly looked to see where Dusk was. Then she remembered that Owlbert and Dusk were outside.
"Go ahead and let them in Hooty." stated Eda
The door opened and the coven scouts came into the house. One of the scouts showed Eda the document. She read it and stated "Go ahead and search my house. You're wasting your and my time. I haven't seen Lilith since the petrification ceremony." The scouts split up and searched the house. An hour later the scouts left. Eda sighed in relief and sat on the couch. Luz sat next to her and asked "What was that all about?"
"It seems that someone broke into the conformatorium and took Lilith." replied Eda
"Oh man I wonder who would do such a thing?" asked Luz
Eda got up and went over to the windows. She looked out the windows then asked "Hooty are they gone?"
"Oh yeah they're gone." replied Hooty
Eda walked away from the window and looked at Luz. She sighed and said "I want you to promise me that you don't tell anyone. What I'm about to tell you." Luz nodded and stated "I promise you can trust me Eda."
"I was the one that broke into the conformatorium and took Lilith." confessed Eda
"You did what? Why? And what did you do with her?" asked Luz
"You heard me I broke in and took Lilith. I took her because from what we read in her. Letters to us and in her notepads. She clearly is sorry for what she has done. I took her to Isis who has a clinic. In the Bonesborough suburbs." replied Eda
"Luz nodded and said "You're right Eda thanks to reading Lilith's writings. She does seem sorry for what she has done. You might want to send a message to Isis. To make sure the scouts didn't find Lilith." Eda nodded and found some paper and a pen. She quickly wrote a note and yelled for Owlbert. The little brown owl flew into the house. Eda gave him the note and said "Take this to Isis please." Owlbert hooted and flew off. Thirty minutes later Owlbert arrived at Isis's clinic. He flew into the clinic through an open window. Owlbert found Isis and hooted to get her attention. Isis saw Owlbert and saw that he has something for her. She took the paper from Owlbert and read it.
She got another piece of paper and wrote back. She gave it to Owlbert and said "Take this to Eda." Owlbert hooted and flew back home. Once back home Owlbert landed on a perch next to the couch. Eda took the paper from Owlbert and read it.
"What does she say Eda?" asked Luz
"She says that coven scouts where at her clinic. But they didn't find Lilith. Because she counseled the secret part of her clinic. She also says that Lilith is doing ok." replied Eda
The coven scouts returned to the scouts returned to the castle. Just as it was getting dark. They went into the thorn room and bowed. The leader said "We search all of the healers and clinics. And didn't find anything. We also searched the Owl lady's house and also found nothing. Maybe Warden Wrath is right. Maybe someone broke into the conformatorium. Took Lilith and finished her off." Belos thought for a moment then said "Maybe he is right. I will send word to the Clawthorne family. And inform them of Lilith's death. Now you and your men get some rest." The scouts bowed and left the thorn room. Eda sent word to her parents and told them what was going on. And to play along.
