San Francisco...

Storm Shadow's secret dojo was in utter ruin as Muskarat, Long-Range, and Alpine were beaten to an inch of their lives. Budo attacked the mysterious attacker; however, his sword shattered upon impact with the man's armor. Budo stared at his broken sword in shock before the man punched the solar plexus, easily breaking Budo's armor and knocking all the air out of him.

"I didn't even get my hands dirty." the man smirked before walking off.

"Cobra Commander...", Budo said weakly before losing consciousness.

Chapter 1 – The Advent of King Cobra

Later...

The paramedic placed the four unconscious Joes onto the gurneys, while local law enforcement kept the civilians away.

"Just what happened!?", Duke asks.

"Seems something attacked them.", Stalker answers looking at Budo's shattered katana. "They didn't go down easily, but they were outmatched."

"These four are among our toughest.", Duke comments. "This is hard to believe."

Fort Wadsworth...

Cobra Commander kicks Sherlock away to a wall knocking her out instantly. Cobra Commander laughs holding onto Sherlock's mechanical arm.

"Even a Revanche-enhanced Joe is no match for me.", Cobra Commander said crushing the arm with ease.

"Well then how about this?!", Clutch shouts driving his VAMP towards the Commander in an attempt to run him over. Cobra Commander however stops the VAMP cold with one hand, to Clutch bafflement.

"One-handed!?", Clutch exclaims, but before he can do anything else Cobra Commander releases a burst of violet electricity, blowing up the VAMP. Clutch manages to escape the explosion, but the shockwave knocks him out.

Cobra Commander laughs madly over this. "Let Serpentor keep Cobra Island! Let those traitors do whatever they want! Let the Joes have an army of Snake Eyes! With this new power, I fear no one!"

Later...

"I can't believe Fort Wadsworth was taken out so easily and quickly.", Hawk said. "Just who is responsible for this?"

"Sherlock, who did this to you?", Stalker asks the injured Sherlock lying on a gurney.

"Cobra... Commander... but...", was all she could say before falling unconscious.

"Cobra Commander?! That's impossible!"

"Whoever it is, it's clear that he's attacking each of our bases.", Hawk said. "It is no longer safe to keep the team split."

"Agreed! Call everyone back to the Pit."

Elsewhere in a briefing room of an unknown location...

Russel, Eagle, and several others watched the entire thing on screen.

"Oh man, I knew he was tough, but this is a whole new level!", Firewall groans.

"I'm afraid the improved Cobra Commander is just one of the problems.", Eagle said as the screen revealed multiple pics of different people. "He's nothing more than a diversion, for what's going on in Springfield."

The screen shows a live feed of Cobra personnel entering several hidden entrances leading underground, while at the same time, the civilians are evacuating the town.

"This isn't an attempt to invade Cobra Island or defend Springfield.", Eagle explains. "The fact that Cobra Commander himself is the distraction means something big is happening in Springfield."

"So what's the plan?"

"We'll split into two groups. Groundpounder, Barrel Roll, Firewall, Akiko, Throttle, and I will aid the Joes against Cobra Commander.", Eagle said. "The rest of you head for Springfield and find out what's going on there."

"Yes, sir!"

"Sigma Team, move out!"

The remaining Cobra members still loyal to Cobra Commander witnessed the said man defeating the entire Oktober Guard.

"He beat all of them with one hit!", Scrap-Iron comments.

"What happened to Cobra Commander?", Wild Weasel asks wondering what happened during his recovery.

"Amazing!", Copperhead said in awe.

"I don't understand at all.", Over Kill said.

"But this stronger Cobra Commander sure is lovely!", Dr. Knox comments as hearts float around her, much to Firefly's disturbance.

"So... what should we do?", Wild Weasel asks Firefly as he's currently the only High Command member left.

"For now, let us watch.", Firefly answers before receiving a text message. "Perhaps what's going to happen on Springfield will calm him down."

Springfield...

A formation of Revanche's heavy stealth bombers drop payloads of mutated Cobra Troopers onto Springfield, however to their confusion they see no one aside for a few guards.

"Where is everyone?", one of the mutated Cobra Trooper asks before being blown up by a flaming missile. The shooter is none other than Cobra Commander holding onto a missile launcher. He discards the firearm and switches to a super-heated axe.

"Cobra Commander?"

"He looks different."

"Was he always this big?"

Cobra Commander suddenly reveals a pair of arm blasters and unleashes a volley of lasers blowing up the heads of a mutant Alley Viper and another mutant Cobra Trooper. He then jumps into the fray with his axe chopping down anyone challenging him.

"Man, Cobra Commander is kicking butt and taking names!", a Cobra Trooper said.

"I don't know what happened, but I ain't complaining!", a Cobra Viper said.

"Let's hear it for the Commander!", a Crimson Guardsman calls out.

"ALL HAIL COBRA COMMANDER!"

Cobra Island...

"Great Khan, our assault force is being decimated by Cobra Commander.", a mutant Tele-Viper reports showing Serpentor Khan the visual through his tablet. "Most likely an imposter or a robot."

"No, that is definitely the real Cobra Commander!", Serpentor Khan bellows in rage. "Somehow he gained a great power to turn the tide in his favor. I must figure out the secret! When the bombers return get them refueled and loaded with more cyborg vipers. I'm going to Springfield."

Springfield...

"Zartan! You ain't going to believe this, but Cobra Commander is decimating the 'Borgs all by himself.", Torch reports, though Zartan finds it hard to believe.

"Even for a fake or a robot duplicate, such a thing is impossible.", Zartan said. "Unless he did something to himself to make him capable of this."

"I agree! We must inform Destro immediately!", Baroness said.

Just then the Thunder Machine is flipped over by a missile fired from Cobra Commander, having been alerted of their presence by Firefly, as he's blocking their exit route Zartan, Baroness, Buzzer, and Roadpig charge at him.

Baroness fires her pistol, but her bullets bounce harmlessly on the Commander's armor. Cobra Commander draws his pistol and fires his shot hitting Baroness in the chest and knocking her off Zartan's motorcycle. Baroness notices that the bullet pierced her breastplate.

"Let's give the head snake the double-whammy, Buzzer!"

"My pleasure, Torch!"

The two strikes Cobra Commander with their weapons, which only irritates him. Cobra Commander grabs the two by the head and throws them into a swimming pool.

Zartan puts the injured Baroness into the Thunder Machine as Zanzibar and Zandar work to get it back running. They stop upon hearing Zarana screaming and see Cobra Commander holding her by the hair. Roadpig charges with his hammer and swings. Cobra Commander releases Zarana and blocks the blow with his finger.

"I did not forget being beaten by this.", Cobra Commander said he yanked the weapon from the Dreadnok's hands and threw it back at him. "This is my way of thanking you."

Cobra Commander pulls out his axe and approaches the unconscious Roadpig. Zarana grabs his leg vainly trying to stop him.

"Stubborn fool.", Cobra Commander mutters deciding to finish her first. Cobra Commander raises his axe and prepares to swing it down, but he gets shot in the back by Snake Eyes.

"That's far enough, Cobra Commander!", Snake Eyes said. This causes everyone to stop fighting and see the two enemies facing each other for the first time in a long time.

"Cobra Commander...?", Cobra Commander asks before suddenly kicking Zarana aside and in astonishing speed kicks (Char's kick) Snake Eyes to the stomach knocking him to a building.

"Snake Eyes!", Storm Shadow cries out helping his brother up.

"Hey! Snake Eyes is also taken down in just one hit!", a Cobra Trooper said.

"You've changed, Cobra Commander.", Snake Eyes said clutching his stomach.

"Too bad, Snake Eyes...", Cobra Commander said. "Cobra Commander no longer exists."

This revelation caught everyone by surprise.

"I receive a new power and have been reborn.", Cobra Commander said.

"So... what should we call you?", a Cobra Viper asks causing Cobra Commander to chuckle.

"My name is King Cobra!", Cobra Commander announces.

"King Cobra?", a Cobra Trooper said. "ALL HAIL KING COBRA!"

"ALL HAIL KING COBRA!"

"I'm glad you came, Snake Eyes.", King Cobra said. "You saved me the trouble of hunting you down. Oh. Don't worry. Like with your fellow Joes, I'll face you alone."

"Let's take him together.", Storm Shadow cries out as he and the ninja surround and attack King Cobra. King Cobra wasn't worried.

"So sad.", King Cobra said as he emitted a lightning storm. The bolts electrocute the ninjas to unconsciousness. "All of you are lacking too much in power. I cannot enjoy anything at this rate. Then again beggars can't be choosers."

"How about you pick on someone of your size!?"

Cobra Commander turns to the source of the voice and sees a motorcycle break into six pieces and rocket towards him. To everyone's surprise, the explosion knocks Cobra Commander back, though he easily lands on his feet. Cobra Commander then sees Eagle.

"Well, look who's here! Captain Eagle, as I live and breathe!", Cobra Commander said. "Or rather the current one holding that name."

"Leave now, Cobra Commander!", Eagle demands. "Even with your new-found strength, you can't fight the whole world alone."

"Very true, but once I unveil my trump card no one will dare challenge me!"

"That is not going to happen, Cobra Commander!"

"Well, you better back up your bark!", Cobra Commander said. "Because now I'm unleashing my trump card!"

Just then the ground shakes violently and something massive emerges underneath Springfield.

"A Terror Drome!? No, it's much bigger.", Eagle said.

"Behold the Grand Terror Drome!"

The massive battle fortress then proceeds to fire its vast arsenal of weapons.
