Project METARU
A previous unknown project that when looked into more with the available data turned out to be not a project started by the current Robotnik but one by their original one. It was not unknown how widely known this was but the current person claiming to be Dr. Ivo Robotnik was actually from another dimension that was not this one. The current Robotnik was not native to this dimension but just settled down here and took over where the original left off. Thus this Project METARU was the probably one of the oldest one of their original Robotnik and from the looks of it unique to them as well since the current Robotnik he was seemingly unaware of this and was just unknowingly having it connected to all his creations as looking back it seems all Metal Sonic had some connection to this project in some way with Neo Metal Sonic being the one with the biggest connection to it.
"What if this greater connection is what caused Neo Metal Sonic to act the way that they did. It was different than others in many ways" Hope said to herself out loud.
This then got her thinking along the lines of Sonic the Hedgehog's lineage and ancestry. His parents Julius and Bernadette Hedgehog did not display any of the talents and abilities that he does. They did not do it originally it seems as since the arrival of Metaru it seems that it can be assumed that Sonic inherited his super speed from his mother. She has started to display signs of having it herself though why it took this long to awaken within her is unknown. Rather than skipping her entirely, it could have been dormant within her body until something aroused it to become activated thus she started to display signs of being a speedster like her son and others. Though how fast she is compared to them is unknown.
Then there would be his connection to the Chaos Emeralds and just Chaos in general. This is something that could have manifested from his father's side of the family. Neither Julius nor his brother Charles display any signs of latent super speed however there was something that could hint at them having at least a rather small but still connection to Chaos Emeralds and thus Chaos in general like their son and nephew.
According to the research that was done natural Power Rings are supposedly the bi-products of Chaos Emeralds. Power Rings they are more familiar with were artificially created by the brilliant Overlander scientist Nate Morgan as a clean alternative to fossil fuels to protect Mobius' environment. While Julius is thirty years younger than his older brother. It is possible that he was helping when Charles and Nate somehow in their mass producing of Power Rings thus increased their exposure to Chaos increasing their seemingly natural connection to it even more. Thus why Power Rings seemed to be very effective in restoring their free will prior to their roboticization. Possibly how Sonic was somehow retained his to a degree when he was actually roboticized that one time and useful in them reverting him back to normal. Thus it was assumed that Bernie's super speed and Julius' connection to Chaos. That merged within Sonic to have the abilities and traits that he has currently to their knowledge.
"Metaru is stated to be slower than her supposed brother and..." Hope trailed off
This is when Hope noticed what might be something that was overlooked until now but could make some sense with this viewpoint. Both Shadow and Knuckles were slower than Sonic but they could be said to have a more natural connection to Chaos than Sonic in some ways. Given how Shadow used it and there was that one time that Knuckles basically became a living Chaos Emerald. That what if Sonic's super speed was also supercharging his connection to Chaos thus allowing him to use it at a level that would be normally impossible for someone of his natural level of connection to it.
Metaru being slower than Sonic and being his younger sister somehow means that her connection to Chaos could be stronger naturally but she still possesses the same super speed as her brother. Test to prove she is faster than Knuckles or Shadow has been done and/or observed currently but according to reports, she is faster naturally than most others that have super speed around Sonic, however. So if Metaru has a natural connection to Chaos stronger than Sonic that in turn was supercharged...
"Sonic is supposed to be an only child as his parents did not have a second one," Hope thought to herself out loud.
Then a thought came to her mind as she used all the methods at her disposal to search through the various records in question from over a decade ago to and what she found was...
