The First But Definitely Not the Last

A silly little funny fluffy story about hand-holding! Yay!

I'm so so sorry this has taken so long. College has been really busy. Also I'm battling a Gravity Falls hyperfixation so I've been a bit…distracted…anyway I was reminded about how cute these little guys are so here they are again!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE REVIEW AND COMMENT! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH THEY ARE MY LIFE-BLOOD. I LITERALLY CANNOT WRITE WITHOUT THEM.

Anyway have a good day! Glad you're taking the time to read this, whoever you are!

Loki reasoned that really it should not have been so natural for this to happen. He famously did not like to be touched. He certainly never went in for "touchy-feely" things, as his brother was so fond of.

No, Loki did not like to be hugged, patted on the shoulder, or even slapped comradely. He endured all these things for Thor's sake because, ultimately, he did love the big lug but that was all he ever did: tolerate.

But with Patty it was different.

He liked it when she hugged him. He enjoyed it when she'd pat his shoulder or arm in excitement. He even looked forward to the brief tired moments when her head would, briefly, sink onto his shoulder. She'd always apologize for that, though, no matter how many times Loki assured her it was fine.

Because it was. It really was. But Patty was always afraid that she was "invading his personal space". And for anyone else it would have been just that, an invasion. But for Patty it was, well, if Loki was forced to describe it, it was more like…the visits of an esteemed and beloved ambassador. Yes. That did not sound strange at all.

Another Time...

Patty wondered about Loki. Like, for example, was he really fine with the occasional hugs she gave him? Did her repeated shoulder-tapping when she was excited annoy him? She hoped not. She did everything she could to be respectful but sometimes, if she was tired, or whatever, she just forgot.

Until the day it happened. They'd been walking around, just talking about whatever, like they usually did, when Patty had gotten startled. That didn't happen very often anymore (she had her spider-sense to thank for that) but sometimes her spider-sense would inexplicably not work. Through scientific observation, Patty discovered that it did that if what was about to scare her couldn't hurt her. It was funny like that.

So there they were, walking along, when some random street musician, hitherto sitting perfectly at peace with his guitar, for no reason just SLAMMED a giant, super loud chord out.

"AH!" Patty yelled, jumping back and reaching for support. Which just happened to be Loki's hand.

She looked down at their clasped hands and then at him. He was just staring at their hands.

Patty giggled awkwardly. Oh no. He didn't like to be touched and here she was holding his hand!

"Ah, sorry! I was, you know, startled, and…". She made a little movement to withdraw her hand.

And then it happened. "It…It's alright, Pat. I…I…"

Dang. She'd never seen him like this before. He seemed to genuinely struggle with words. And why were both of their hearts beating so erratically? That was weird. Why was the world slowing down? Why was she getting like this weird kinda tunnel vision where all she could really see clearly was him?

"You like it?" Patty whispered. "This?"

She held up their hands. For some reason that was all she could really concentrate on.

Loki nodded. He too seemed to be only able to concentrate on their joined hands.

"Oh. OK. I…I like it too."

"We could continue this. If you like." Loki replied.

"Yeah. Yeah, that would be nice."

Patty lowered their hands and they stared at them. The weird side affects probably would have continued if Loki hadn't been rudely shoved by some busy guy.

That woke them both up and they continued down the street, just as usual.

Except they were holding hands.

And Patty was definitely going to do it again the next time she saw him.

AND the end! Just kidding this is not the end. Ha ha.
