Summary/Disclaimer: It is time for another chapter of Old and New Republics. Enjoy the 2900-word chapter. I do not own Star Wars; Disney and others do.
Sask snagged the comlink off one of the stormtroopers and began fiddling with it.
"They will send more soldiers… But if these are their ordinary people? I think can overcome them easily." Sask stated.
He did not believe he could doit; it was a part of him that he was not used to. He knew better than to hope now and knew better than to focus on winning. He would be lucky if he could win if at all now, he would need to do better.
The dozens of bodies still told him this war was far from over. The empire was something that he believed might throw more soldiers at the problem.
He did not at all understand what the rebels would be doing to attempt to fight the empire.
Sask sighed, something about it, something too much inside him had taken. He had been out of time, very much so when it came down to it all.
He felt bothered and he was bothered by all such things. It meant more than he had asked when it said and done at the time being.
Sask took a deep breath of dusty air and it stung effectively. He was unused to working with Jedi… He was all too distracted at the end of it. That all told him more than he had wished to be like now.
Something about it all had been too much. He had more to deal with…. Something about it had distracted him at the end of the day.
Something about it all had cut through them once again. Avar felt off at the end of it… They had different ideas once again.
Avar looked at him for seconds, pondering if she could even slightly trust everyone going through the motions.
He had different things now. He had more chaotic ideas when it ended. None of these ideas were good but they were better than nothing now.
They had more work left to distract it all now. They had work left to deal with.
They were all too focused on something going on, it distracted them all. Work did not come easy to every single one of them now, not yet. That much was perfectly and entirely clear.
Avar looked at the horizon, thinking of what was growing on his mind and it had been too much for now. It would remain so much to deal with.
Something about it all had been too much for now. Each part of it all had been too much now.
"So… Care to introduce us?" Sask stated before he shook his head now.
Amused at it all for now and for good enough reason. It was odd enough for them to be here, odder still to be amongst the living. Right now? They had little in the way of plans left to execute, nothing but hope and dreams to deal with for now and good.
It worried him more than now and it was an issue now and for good reason.
The Nightsister looked over at them, glancing at them before they spoke up now and such… It had been too much for now.
He had more left now. He had more to deal with now… Something about how well this would go was bothering him, bothering him far too much now at the end of this rotation.
He snorted, tired… And it hurt too much as he relaxed. They had more to deal with now as he thought of his next move.
They had more left to distract to deal with for now… Something else was going down now.
Right now? Getting out of the jungle was the best step he had a step left to deal with.
"We must go… The empire would have sent more troops. If they find us? We all die… Does anyone wish to do?" Sask questioned as he raised an eyebrow.
It was not meant to be a loaded question, but it appeared to be. Something about it had been too much for them now, far too much at the end of the day. Right now? It hurts to do more than just exist.
Sask was also aware that Cal had friends from distinct species and this Nightsister was doing something to help Cal.
Granted, he had barely known any of the witches when he was a Padawan, but he knew as a Jedi? Allies could come from anywhere at any time.
The sound of boots made them turn, realizing that with all the wasted time spent attempting to figure out a plan? The empire had rallied fresh reinforcements to replace their dead on the ground.
It was all too much to distract it now… Something would end. He would make it so as a Jedi that their war ended.
The rain of blaster bolts told him that they were getting ambushed again… Fine, he could deal with that.
So? As he dealt with them? He made a note to ask the Nightsister who these rebels she worked with.
Avar already had her lightsaber up, the azure blade slicing down one of the scout troopers who attempted to flank her. She sighed as another five stormtroopers brought up their blasters, peppering her direction with lasers.
She sighed to herself with anger. She did not want the empire to suffer and die yet they had chosen to fight her.
Something else to distract her was Sask bringing up his weapon and cutting down a stormtrooper he drew close to. They had died in battle as he thought of his next move.
They would not be able to distract themselves… He was a Jedi, yet he carried himself differently.
As a soldier? He had fought wars… Wars like this? Wars where death was part of life, as simple as death.
Avar looked at her friend, curious as the 3 Jedi managed to deflect blaster after blaster. Stormtrooper after stormtrooper fell to their weapons and he found it odd now.
The remaining imperials seemed to retreat as a hideous roar seemed to bellow out across the valley. Avar turned to her two allies, curious about it all when it came to it back and forth. Now?
Now it was too much, far too much for her to process. They had worked enough to bother them for seconds at the end of the day.
He had more left to deal with for now and good. Something like this was too much now… It would be far too much for now. They had a dozen things left to do now.
Now and good would this end… So now and good would they act.
"If it is all the same with all of you? I would like to relax and meet this Jedi you have spoken of…" Sask stated, tossing his weapon up and down.
They moved soon after, in the direction indicated.
(5 minutes later)
Sask was not fond of Jedha, nor any desert world honestly… Suns beat upon them like war drums.
It was hot now… Too much… And it would remain too much now…. This would be too much now, far too much for now, and for a good reason.
He pulled up his hood and sighed. If he was not busy using the force to shield himself from a bit of heat? He could do this.
It hurt now, all of it hurt now when he thought of it. The empire had very clearly dug its claws into this world as he could see no small end of soldiers. Granted? He also noticed well enough that most stormtroopers focused on fighting the wildlife then the Jedi.
"This Jedi Master… She is the one in charge of the resistance?" Sask asked as Cal nodded. "Then she is not waging very effective resistance unless she is planning for the planet itself to take care of the enemy," Sask stated as Cal frowned for a moment.
It was not an insult, but it felt like one. Sask was looking at things from a soldier's perspective and it was clear something else would end now and good.
There were dozens of imperials here anyway. He had ideas for now that he could not wait to do.
He had things that were growing on his mind for now. Something would break now… It would break VERY much for now.
He was ok now. He had more to deal with…. Something within them all told them a storm would be brewing soon.
The sound of screams told him something chaotic was going down the road at the end… Something like this was MUCH more amusing now and good?
It had to end for now at the end of the day before he cracked his fingers once again now had off by.
It would end badly. This would end well for now and he knew this point well enough.
He had been too much now. He had more left to do anyway and this all did not help.
Sask looked at the others. The Nightsister looked as though she lived in this world.
Cal seemed energetic, like a switch had pulled and the Jedi within him was now waking up. He looked ready to fight the entire blasted planet if the empire so decreed and that energy. That energy appeared shaped by a steely experience within Cal. Yes, he saw something new within Cal.
Granted? He had been to war from what Sask heard. That alone would steel anyone into being the soldier they would need to be to survive. His lightsaber looked clutched in his hands as if he would drop it the second loosened his grip.
Then there was Avar. She looked both tired and unsure of herself. She was no combatant on a mission of mercy, she was no general.
No, she was from an era of the galaxy where peace had reigned, and trying to remain a Jedi was fraught with far less danger now as they lived in it.
Her golden hair and sun-touched skin told him that Avar had never gone to serious war; she had only heard stories of Jedi who had done so.
Yes. More or less. Avar was not old for the wars ravaging the stars around them. Not for a second had it touched her and that worried Sask who knew only warriors would be alive in this era.
They lived inside a brewing war… They would either fight or die. They had a LOT more now.
Avar, himself? They were tired now. This work had been too much.
They made their way into the sand where the beast lay waiting. It surged forward, tossing sand toward them as it slowly seemed distracting.
The beast exploded from the sands, eager for blood… Which it could not land its hands upon.
So? It settled for snapping at them with claws as Sask and Cal threw themselves backward while Avar slid under it, turning towards the creature as it roared, attempting to cut them to bits… Now and good would it end… And end rightfully so.
They had work to do something now… And for a good reason now. It was too much for now. He had a lot of different ideas now… A LOT.
The beast charged at them. And the Jedi attacked it right back, they met it with the force and their lightsabers seemed to crack at its shell.
All their attacks? They only drove it backward, slow, and steadily. They were ready for a fight, for anything now.
It had to be done…. Something else had to be done. He was ready and he would fight.
The beast was too distracted. It snapped at them with its pincers trying to find flesh to consume inside its jaws.
There was too much to deal with. The beast had to die now before they won.
The bug roared at them, eager for blood as he paused and dodged to the side, pausing for amusement. He knew the beast had to be stopped… So, he would have stopped them for now.
The beast swiped at the 3 Jedi who tossed themselves to different sides. He seemed far too eager to deal with it for now.
They tossed themselves backward, sand kicking up… Something about it all had been too much for now.
The beast swiped at Sask before he looked to the side, he was curious as he looked at himself… His weapon spun through the air; he was able to think of what was growing on him.
They were curious as he paused… Fighting a beast was different fromfighting armed soldiers… A beast could be tricked, it could be tamed… But it was also blind.
They were too thrown off now…. All of it…. The beast swiped at them and the trio of Jedi again scattered like dust to the wind. Sask rolled to the side, keeping his weapon between himself and the oversized monster.
Granted? This creature was intense and massive but a brute, there was no grace to how it moved… No grace, skill.
No, it just fought them with all it had… So, they did the same. Avar tried her best to sever the creature's arms so it could be dispatched with little danger to them… The monster instead turned and swiped at her with its tail and she was driven back.
Skritons were dangerous and some of the most treacherous animals on Jedha but were driven by blood. This monster wanted food and little else, it had killed without the grace or skill of an animal who would have higher instincts.
So? Sask used the force to hold it down before Cal severed the smaller claw with his weapon, causing it to rear up before Sask spun around and hurled his saber through its gaping maw.
The lightsaber carved through it inside, splitting the back of it like a wishbone before the Skriton fell with its part clipped to the sand. Sask held out his hand as the weapon flew back to his hand.
He hummed and shook the gore from the weapon before deactivating the blade…. And then turning.
"There will be more, either from the creature's pack or the fresh carcass buried out here… There will be more." Sask added before turning, purple lightsaber sheathed.
It was too much now…. He had a lot more left now. They had more work left to deal with. Something about told the Jedi Knight… That they would be fighting an uphill battle.
Now? It was going to be much for now… And it would not help. They had to keep moving now and good.
It was curious… But it would end… All such things would end now, they had no such fate about it all now.
It had to be… Would be now, would always be for now… It had to be handled now. It was too much to deal with.
"Jedha has not changed in the centuries since I was captured," Sask stated as he sighed and hummed before he looked to the side. "We must move, there will be more Imperials, and if they do not kill us? The planet itself will no doubt pick up the slack." Sask stated before he sighed.
He knew more than Avar and Cal that Jedha was a horrid planet, a backwater of sand and death where chaos was something that ruled… Why would the Empire have anything to do with this place?
Why? He did not know, he wished to know something as they set out through the sands. Both he and Cal held out their lightsabers, clearly expecting a battle.
He noted the Nightsister had left. Her magics were so different from the force yet so similar. They were odd people, even different? They were odd to him and yet he could not prepare himself.
Both he and Sask shared a look, clearly curious as he pushed himself to his feet and then thought of himself. It was too much inside and out… Both were exhausted.
"Have you ever visited these rebels?" Cal heard as he looked to the side. "Because I get hiding out here… Nobody would think of Jedha or care if they were here. The problem? It is a double-edged sword back and forth between the environment and something else." Sask added before he hummed.
Something about it made him curious. It did for a long time inside and out for them.
They had to prepare for the next battle. They had work left to deal with for now and it bothered him.
They had fought but Avar had not, she would not survive without knowing.
It would become harsh to deal with and not have been too much for now at the end of the day, he would not have helped… And it was too much for now at the end of it all for a good reason.
It was too much for now and good reason. It would continue to end for now and such, and it had to be done.
It was too much now and good.
This was too much for now and for a good reason.
