Chapter 15: Meeting the Spectres
In space, the Arcturus was travelling through hyperspace.
Inside the XS stock light freighter, Zachary and Gwendolyn were sitting in the cockpit with Ferus and Nadia.
"We'll be seeing Aunt Ahsoka again, mum and dad?"Gwendolyn asked with a hint of excitement.
"Yes, Gwen."Ferus replied with a smile."But be sure to be on your best behaviour."
Gwendolyn frowned and folded her arms.
"I promise."Gwendolyn assured."I am not seven anymore."
A small smirk formed on Nadia's face.
"Also, we'll be seeing Caleb again."Nadia complemented with a hint of amusement."I still can't believe he survived Order 66."
Zachary glanced at Nadia.
"Who's Caleb, mother?"Zachary questioned.
"A friend of mine and your father during the days of the Clone Wars."Nadia exclaimed."The last time we saw him was before he ran off to join his Jedi Master Depa Billaba on Kaller to fight the advancing B1-series battle droids and Armored Assault Tank on the planet. Though I hear he goes under a new identity now."
RG-G1 let out a beep, actually excited to see another familiar face after such a long time.
T7-O1 beeped at Ferus.
"You can tag along if you like, T7."Ferus insisted."You are part of the family."
Soon the Arcturus jumped out of hyperspace and arrived to the Phoenix Home's location.
Ferus, Nadia, Zachary and Gwendolyn saw the Ghost and three Corellian Corvettes close to the repurposed Pelta-class frigate.
"That must the Phoenix Squadron."Gwendolyn assumed.
"Our rebel cell is growing every day."Zachary complemented.
Ferus and Nadia share a smile with each other as they gave in their coordinates.
"Phoenix Home, this is the Order of the Green Dragon."Nadia declared."Clearance code 0-4-5-8-1-9."
"Your clearance code checks out."A pilot answered."Welcome back, Master Jedi."
Inside the command room of the Phoenix Home, Ahsoka watched as the Arcturus docked with the repurposed Pelta-class frigate.
Ahsoka was now a 32 year old woman wearing a grey dress with grey-and-brown armour plating on her chest and skirt along with grey detached sleeves and forearm armour as well as fingerless gloves. She also had on armoured boots.
It has been a while since she last saw her best friend and her family, but she was happy to see them again despite having been busy helping the raising rebellion against the Empire.
Ahsoka turned to look at the Ghost Crew: Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Hera Syndulla, Sabrine Wren, Garazeb 'Zeb' Orrelios and Chopper.
Kanan Jarrus (formerly known as Caleb Dume) was a man with brown hair that had a small tail behind his head, teal blue eyes and a brown goatee. He wore a green suit, dark green trousers and now wore metallic green armour that he wore around his neck and left arm.
Ezra Bridger was a boy with tan caramel skin, sapphire blue eyes and mid-length unruly blue hair. He wore an orange jumpsuit with a short-sleeved orange jacket that had yellow lining in the edge of his sleeves and looking on the rims of the flaps of his jacket. He also wore a white armour brace and deep orange paddings on his other leg. He also wore deep orange shoes. He even had a belt that held his lightsaber and wore black fingerless gloves.
Hera Syndulla was a beautiful Twi'lek woman that had apple green skin, emerald green eyes and red lips. Her Lekku had a pattern that was a lighter shade of green and hung from her headgear. She wore a white, orange and brown flight suit and boots.
Sabine Wren was a Mandalore Human female with a slender and tall figure with brown eyes and multicoloured hair. Her hair was purple with orange bangs and her suit was coloured as well with no sleeves and wore grey gloves.
Garazeb 'Zeb' Orrelios was a Lasat male with a purple beard, pale mauve skin, and green eyes. He wore a green yellow armour.
C1-10P commonly known as 'Chopper' or 'Chop' was an orange and yellow masculine C1-series astromech droid.
Kanan looked at Ahsoka.
"Ahsoka, is it really them?"Kanan asked.
Ahsoka simply smiled at Kanan as she led him and the rest of the Ghost Crew to the hallway.
"You'll have to see for yourself, Kanan."Ahsoka insisted.
Ezra looked at Zeb, confused since he has no clue who Ahsoka and Kanan were talking about.
"Who are they talking about?"Ezra questioned.
Zeb shrugged. "Beats me."
Soon the door on the other side of the hallway opened causing Nadia and Ferus to step out with RG-G1.
Kanan's eyes widen in surprise, immediately recognising his old friends.
"Nadia, Ferus…"Kanan started.
"Hey, Caleb."Nadia greeted with a smirk."Long time no see."
"How long has it been since we last saw?"Ferus chuckled.
Kanan shook hands with Nadia and then Ferus.
"Right after the two of you helped Master Skywalker and Master Kenobi save the Chancellor."Kanan answered and tapped RG-G1."Good to see you as well, G-G."
RG-G1 let out a beep.
"Yes."Nadia agreed with a slight smile."Though I recall you being the kid that had a tendency to ask many questions and rushing headlong into danger."
"I remember that clearly, Dia."Ahsoka agreed.
Nadia smirked at Ahsoka.
"Not to mention reckless, impatient and belligerent."Nadia added.
RG-G1 let out a laughing beep and Ezra let out an amused chuckle while Kanan rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment.
Ferus noticed Ezra, Hera, Chopper, Sabine and Zeb.
"And this must be the rest of your crew fighting the Empire?"Ferus assumed.
"Oh, right."Kanan remarked, recovering from his embarrassment."This is my crew; Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, Zeb Orrelios and our droid, Chopper."
Sabine smiled at Nadia.
"I actually heard about you back in Mandalore, Lady Aomori."Sabine stated."You were the one that risked her life to save Duchess Satine when Maul and the Death Watch attempted to take over my home planet."
"That's right."Nadia answered with a nod.
Ezra noticed both Ferus and Nadia had lightsabers on their belts.
"Wait a minute."Ezra said in awe."You two are Jedi too?"
Kanan glanced at Ezra.
"Ezra. Both Nadia Aomori and Ferus Olin are Jedi Knights."Kanan exclaimed."They alongside Ahsoka were heroes in the Clone Wars. Nadia was the Padawan of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ferus was the Padawan of Jedi Master Siri Tachi."
Nadia's mood became a little sour at the mention of her former master, but kept wearing a friendly smile on her face.
"So both of you are survivors of the Jedi Purge?"Hera assumed.
"That's right."Ferus answered."But ever since the rise of the Empire, the two of us have been keeping a low profile."
"Though at the same time, we've been helping other rebel cells out while covering our tracks from those menacing Jedi hunters known as the Inquisitors."Nadia complemented."Though we heard you and your rookie defeated the Grand Inquisitor."
"Rookie?"Ezra said in confusion.
Nadia glanced at Ezra.
"I'm talking about you, blue."Nadia complemented.
"I'm not a rookie, Miss Aomori."Ezra declared with a confident smile."I happen to be Kanan's Padawan."
"But if you heard so much about the Clone Wars, you would've asked me and Ferus' for our autographs."Nadia declared casually and then gestured to Ezra's lightsaber."And since it seems you gotten your lightsaber for a while, you're clearly a rookie in the whole Jedi journey, blue."
Zeb snorted his laughter while Chopper let out a giggling beep, making Ezra glare at them.
Ferus gave Ezra an apologetic smile.
"Do excuse my wife, kid."Ferus insisted."She's an expert on being sarcastic, but she clearly means well."
This caught Kanan's complete attention.
"Huh?"Kanan said in confusion.
Nadia and Ferus held hands with each other.
"Me and Ferus are more than just friends, Kanan."Nadia chuckled."We are married."
A look of disbelief appeared on Kanan's face.
"You two are in a relationship?"Kanan questioned."Even though the Jedi Order forbids attachments?"
Ahsoka smirked. "Not only that."
"Aunt Ahsoka!"
Suddenly, Gwendolyn rushed out of the entrance to hug Ahsoka while Zachary walked forward to join his parents with T7-O1 next to him.
"Gwen. Hi."Ahsoka greeted, hugging the brunette."How are you?"
"I'm fine."Gwendolyn chuckled."I've missed you."
Gwendolyn then went to join Ferus, Nadia and Zachary.
"Kanan, Hera, Ezra, Sabine, Zeb and Chopper, these our twin children; Zachary and Gwendolyn Olin."Nadia introduced."Our other droid's name is T7-O1."
Kanan's disbelief look became a shocked one.
"Hi."Gwendolyn greeted with a bright smile.
"Hey."Zachary answered, giving a small wave.
T7-O1 let out a beep.
Not long after the Olin family were been shown around the Ghost.
"So you're the Jedi Knight that defeated the Grand Inquisitor?"Gwendolyn remarked with a hint of excitement.
Kanan let out a small chuckle.
"Well…I am not really a Jedi Knight."Kanan admitted.
"Still it's quite impressive."Zachary agreed with a slight smile."You must've been very brave."
While Zachary spoke with Kanan, Gwendolyn grinned as Ezra showed her his lightsaber.
"Pretty cool, huh?"Ezra remarked.
"Yeah."Gwendolyn agreed with a nod before showing her DL-18 blaster and lightsaber to her new friend."The DL-18 for my hip, the sleeve gun for surprise, and...yes the lightsaber. Old fashioned, but useful."
Gwendolyn activated her lightsaber, showing its magenta pink blade.
"Nice."Ezra praised.
Gwendolyn then deactivated her lightsaber and placed it back around her waist.
"So what's your story, Ezra?"Gwendolyn asked."How did you end up becoming Kanan's Padawan?"
Ezra let out a slight chuckle.
"Well…it's actually a long story."Ezra answered while rubbing the back of his neck."But I can say is if haven't been for Kanan and the rest of my friends, I would've never become a better person and just be staying at Lothal struggling to survive."
The smile on Gwendolyn's face shrunk a little.
"Oh…you lived by yourself?"Gwendolyn assumed.
"Since I was seven."Ezra answered."My parents were actually speaking out against the Empire on how evil it was. But one day, they got caught…and I haven't seen them since that."
"Sorry."Gwendolyn apologised softly and then changed the subject."I heard the message you gave out to the galaxy. That was very brave of you."
Ezra blushed at Gwendolyn's respond.
"T-Thanks."Ezra chuckled.
Ferus then appeared to fetch Gwendolyn.
"Alright, Gwen."Ferus declared."It's time to head out."
"Okay, dad."Gwendolyn responded and then gave Ezra a wink."See ya around, Ezra."
Gwendolyn went out of the room as Ferus shot Ezra a glare and gave the young teenage boy the 'I'm watching you' signal.
Zachary left the Ghost as Nadia paused her walk to speak with Kanan.
"Still a little shocked?"Nadia guessed.
"Yeah."Kanan agreed with a small smile."I…I really don't know what to say."
Nadia laid a hand on Kanan's shoulder gently.
"I know the Jedi Order in Coruscant forbid attachments, Kanan."Nadia commented."But the Jedi Order back in my home planet Corellia permitted Jedi to love and get married. You should consider having a little happiness in your life."
Kanan looked down at Nadia's declaration.
"I don't know about that."Kanan responded.
"Then think about it."Nadia insisted kindly."I am sure you'll understand someday."
Nadia then left with her family, leaving Kanan by himself.
Hera then joined Kanan.
"You're alright, Kanan?"Hera asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine, Hera."Kanan replied."It's just ever since I was a Padawan, I was taught that a Jedi was forbidden to form attachments because the Jedi Order believed romantic feelings would lead to the dark side."
"And now?"Hera questioned.
Kanan looked at Hera.
"I'm not sure now."Kanan stated."A lot has changed."
Hera leaned forward to plant a kiss on Kanan's cheek.
"Just so you know, I will accept any decision you make, dear."Hera declared.
Kanan smiled at Hera before the two of them went to join their companions.
