Chapter 2

Hearing a knock at the door, I grabbed my backpack and walked over. Opening it, Sayori stood in front of me. "Hey, Mark!" she said with a smile.

"Hey..." I replied.

Suddenly, her eyes darted to my hands. "Breakfast?" she asked, almost pouting.

"Sorry. I wasn't able to make anything today."

"Awwww... I love your cooking..." she looked down.

I rubbed the back of my neck. "I'll make it up to y-"

Sayori suddenly took my arm into her hands. Moving my sleeve up, she stared at the bite marks on my wrist. "What happened?"

"I was attacked by a wolf." I replied honestly.

"A wolf?" Sayori repeated. "I've never seen wolves around here before. Not even in the woods."

"Neither have I..." I said, realizing she was right. "Strange."

"Have you had this looked at?" Sayori asked.

"No." I replied as I pulled away. "C'mon, we'll be late."

Sayori hesitated. "Hang on!" she suddenly went across the street and into her house. Sighing, I crossed my arms as I waited for her.

After about a minute, she came back holding bandages. "Let me see your arm."

Holding out my left arm, Sayori wrapped the bandages around the bite marks. Once she was done, she gave me a smile. "Thanks."

"You're welcome!"

Walking the rest of the way to school, we said a quick goodbye to each other before heading to our separate classes.

Hours later

With the last bell finally ringing, I collected my things and started making my way to the club room. Heading inside, everyone else had beaten me here.

"Hey, Markus." Monika, the president of the club, greeted. Me and her were also in the same grade.

"Hey."

Yuri, Natsuki and Sayori were just a grade below us. Yuri was the tallest in the club with long purple hair and dark purple eyes.

Natsuki, the shortest, has short pink hair and matching eyes.

Monika has long brown hair with emerald green eyes, and Sayori had coral pink hair, a large red bow in her hair, with sky blue eyes.

Heading over to a desk by the window, I sat down and pulled out one of the books I borrowed from the library. Reading in silence, I felt a pair of eyes on me. It was almost like the same feeling I got yesterday when that wolf was eyeing me.

Looking out of the window, there wasn't anything there. Glancing to my right, I saw Natsuki suddenly look away.

Brushing it off as nothing, I continued reading. As I read, Monika walked over to me. Leaning over my shoulder, I looked back at her. "Hey, Monika. What's up?"

"I wanted to talk to you about a few more activities. Pick your mind a bit."

"Yeah, sure." I put my book away. "What's up?"

"I was just..." she trailed off. Reaching out and gently taking my left arm into her hands, she rolled up my sleeve to see the bandages covering the bite marks. "What happened?"

"Oh... I was attacked by a, uh, a dog." I told her.

"Glad you're alright." Monika said. "Dogs can be pretty vicious at times."

"Yeah. I know."

Glancing up at the clock, Monika stood up. "Well, I guess that's pretty much it for today."

"What about the-"

"I'll see you all tomorrow." Monika said to everyone.

As everyone began to pack up, Monika walked away. Collecting my things, I began to walk home with Sayori.

On our way to our neighborhood, Sayori kept looking at my arm. "How's it feel?"

Holding up my arm, I looked it over. "Kind of hot. Like a sunburn."

The rest of the walk was pretty much in silence. Saying goodbye, we went into our separate houses.

Heading into the bathroom, I decided to get a look at my wound. Taking off the bandages, I pulled away the gauze, only to see the bite marks had completey vanished.

"What the hell?" I rubbed my arm. "How...?"

Feeling a sudden dizziness, I walked back to my room. Taking a step towards my bed, my legs gave out and I fell to the ground.
