"Another night, another job," a young woman whispered to herself.
"Yeah, don't get yourself too hyped kid, just head into the dust store, and keep a low profile, I need to find our targets, a rather large thief he is," an older man said.
"Large in stature or fame?" the woman asked.
"Both, just be prepared for all hell to break loose, Corporal Williams is on standby for extraction," The man said.
"Got it," the woman said before walking off to the dust shop.
Walking in the bell jingled and the shopkeeper looked at her, a slightly taller than average height, most of her body was hidden by a distinct red trench coat and fedora, what was visible was a pair of silver eyes, and brown high heel boots, trying not to get her attention, he goes back to what he was doing. She walked to the back of the store near the magazine racks.
"Now to wait," she said, picking an issue of guns and ammo monthly.
"Kid I found the targets, they're coming in right now," the man said.
"Got it, HQ," she said back.
"Hey Ruby, stay safe, got it?" he voiced.
"You act like this is my first rodeo, I'll be fine, just be ready to bail me out in case a huntress shows up," Ruby replied.
"That's William's job, not mine," HQ replied back, before cutting off communications for the moment.
The door's bell jingled, ruby got to one of the aisles nearer to the front to get a view of who she had to stop for the night.
Peaking over around the dust shelves she sees him, "Roman Torchwick?" she whispered to herself shocked. Opening the comms, she asked, "so what do I have to stop?"
"Dust robbery, you can't be everywhere at once, but there is a reason for this one," HQ got out before getting cut off.
"Yeah, he's an infamous thief, so this is more an example setter than anything major then?" ruby said looking around for all escape routes if needed.
"Yeah, good luck kiddo," He said, closing radio comms again.
"Lucky me," Ruby said before going back to what she was doing to formulate a plan of action. 'I could directly confront him, but I would need to make a mad dash for the door as soon as I get his ire, another option would be to slowly take down his goons, to limit the amount I would have to fight. Can't use my scythe and all I have is two .45 pistols with a couple of spare clips, it'll be enough to take down his goons in a firefight, but not him,' Ruby thought to herself, she doesn't notice the goon walking up to her from behind and flinched a little when she got spun around and came face to face with one of them. She covertly activated her voice modulator, it was something HQ came up with to keep her identity hidden as much as possible, since this wasn't how she actually sounded like as a person, then no one could trace her by voice, also sounding like a sexy woman worked out in her favor in any case.
"Can I help you?" she asked the black fedora-wearing goon.
"Put your hands in the air, now!" the goon shouted.
"Are you robbing me?" Ruby asked in a menacing manner.
"Yes!" he replied.
"I see," Ruby said, right before launching him through a window, herself following.
Hearing the crash of glass breaking Torchwick turns around to see a lone woman in a trench coat taking down one of his goons. Sighing he signals for one of the other henchmen to go deal with her, having a bullet slam into his back changed that plan.
He looked at the rest of his crew, "well get her," he said annoyed. The last three goons barreled forth towards the lady in red.
Standing in place, she sticks out one of her legs to trip over the nearest goon, falling face forward, he got knocked out upon impact, grabbing one of her pistols she shot the foot of another goon, knocking over another henchman in pain, the last henchman got close to slashing her, noticing the large red machete, she did a backflip and kicked him on the chin knocking him out.
Roman spoke after putting out his cigar, "You were every cent, truly you were, well then red-"
"Crimson, my name is Crimson," she interrupted.
"What does it even-, you know what this has been an eventful evening, but unfortunately we'll have to save this date for another time," he said firing a flare out of his cane.
"Oh what, a flare gun cane, sonova-?!" Ruby whispered-yelled in shock. Bracing for impact, she makes her best attempt to keep track of the thief.
Once the dust light faded, she chased after him with her grappling hook to make up for time lost due to the blinding light, making it up onto the roof just in time for roman to turn around and see her again.
"Persistent…," Roman whispered to himself.
"End of the line red," he shouted, getting inside his getaway bullhead. Flicking a red dust crystal she shoots it and starts laughing, only to notice a new figure appear out of nowhere.
"Woah!," Ruby said shakily regaining her balance only to notice a huntress standing in front of her
Running to the front cabin, he alerts his passenger, "we have a Huntress!" he shouted, taking over for the pilot.
Walking out to the main deck of the bullhead, she immediately notices Crimson and prepares an attack on her.
"Oh boy, ma'am I would start running!" Ruby shouted to the huntress, realizing what was going to happen, suddenly a dark cloud formed over the bullhead, several glass shards launching at the craft.
Hitting the distress button on her scroll, Ruby prepared to book it, now is definitely not the time to be captured by a huntress, being Crimson Rose has built herself quite a reputation among both the public and the underworld, being both famous and infamous has its downsides, mostly she can't ever head out in a red trench coat anymore without getting "mistaken" for Crimson, not the end of the world, but it is a nuisance she deals with.
Firing a burst of energy towards the pair, The huntress blocks it with a glyph, and takes the rubble created from the explosion and forms a spear to launch at the bullhead.
Noticing the forming lance, he pulls a maneuver and blocks the deadly rubble spear, the woman on the bullhead forms rings of energy and disintegrates the rubble, and forms red glyphs on the ground the huntress and Ruby were standing on.
Noticing the forming red explosions Ruby takes her chance and grabs the huntress and grapple hooks away from the oncoming destruction.
The huntress tried to get out of Ruby's grip, "What are you-"
"Thank me later," Ruby said to the huntress, as soon as they left the roof of the random office building a large explosion occurred and collapsed the roof of the location, the bullhead closes it's doors and flies away
Landing on a nearby roof, ruby dusts herself off and speaks, "Well that could have gone better,"
"You're coming with me," The huntress said, taking Ruby in a purple aura.
"Oh right, I forgot you were here," Ruby said stuck in place.
- End -
Where in the world is the crimson rose?
Doesn't have the same ring to it as Carmen Sandiego, but whatever, anyways, I just watched the Netflix original, Carmen Sandiego, or at least a couple of episodes of it and I was just charmed enough to try and write this story, don't know how long it'll be but probably long enough.
Anyways have a nice day!~
