Disclaimer: I do no own attack on titan
So hey! I'm still alive and kicking, so sorry about the lack of updates the past few weeks [Months] since I was drowning in school works that I needed to submit so I barely had anytime to create any storyline.
Year 848
3rd person POV
Should any person ever see what was happening from afar they would a perfect picture of one of humanities greatest traits, perseverance, the unbreakable will that got humanity through countless hopeless situations. They would see a lone soldier with wings on their back stand in defiance against a 14-meter behemoth, the soldier's knees bent, and arms wide ready to move and attack the behemoth until their final breath. While they would see the titan, its head bearing down upon the soldier as though to give respect against a worthy adversary, it seems as though titans are mere mindless beasts they still possess the instinct to recognize a prey turned predator.
Although of course thing are a bit different should they see it up close.
Instead of a soldier ready to fight to its last breath, they would see a young girl almost shaking from exhaustion her arms wide to steady her footing, her cloak is all torn with mud almost covering them, the look on her face though does not reflect the condition that her body is experiencing, her face were showing a myriad of emotions; anger, sadness and a look of pure exhaustion meanwhile the titan with its head bowed with tears slowly going down it's cheeks looking as though it has as seen a long lost friend.
It was a very different picture from their points of views.
Ilse Lagnar's POV
I was getting tired of all these titans with their wall be damned names. I looked up to the titan almost willing it to say the name again. What I was not expecting was to see a look of melancholy on a titan's face. Although that may be just me hallucinating due to the sudden exhaustion caused by the sudden drop of adrenalin. As in the only reason that I was still standing is pure willpower, that and the knowledge that should I fall down I would not be getting back up in a good while. I kept my eye glued to the titan just in case it started attacking although at that point even I knew that I wouldn't be able to fend it off.
But it looked like fate was trying its damn best to make sure that I do not live past this day.
I never noticed it until then but with the midday sun at its highest peak bearing down on the canopy of the forest and that fact that I still had my cloak on the heat was slowly becoming unbearable. Under normal circumstances this would not have been a problem since I have endured much more during my training back with the cadet corps, but this was different, I was already running for a few hours and was just in a life or death situation. My body was not used to such heat coupled with severe exhaustion causing me to slowly build up fatigue. Had it not been for the adrenalin earlier I doubt that I would be able to remain standing.
When all of a sudden I could see the world spinning I knew that I was close to fainting but I stomped my foot down to keep a semblance of balance but It was no use, I was losing consciousness, I could only hope to not end up in the stomach of a titan, although I thought back then that it was a lost cause. Because the last thing that I saw as I was falling was the titan reaching out to me as I fall unto the unforgiving ground.
Markus's POV
The moment that I saw her face it was as if I was in a dream again. My head was full of so many emotions that my new body didn't know what to do with it. I never even noticed the tears that was slowly making it's down my cheeks. I kept my eyes own her as though she would disappear the moment that I blink. Now that it was just two of us and that she was no longer in any imminent danger I took the chance to carefully study her appearance. The moment that I saw her on the ground writing frantically in front of a titan, the scene that I saw gave me a feeling of déjà vu. Déjà vu, titans, writing, titans.
That thought made my head snap back a little. Looking at her closely there was something different about Rachel, first of this Rachel has golden yellow eyes instead of the familiar hazel brown ones that always managed to look comforting, that and the fact that her head was bit more round whilst this one is more angular although they did have identical hairstyles. Trying to rack my brain for an answer was cut short when I caught sight of her falling into the ground. I quickly reached out to her when I was suddenly reminded of my size. Then it hit me.
I wasn't just a giant a normal giant like those from the fae lore, no I was a titan. A man eating honest to god titan. That was why upon closer look I wasn't as surprised when I saw Rach- no the girl to be wearing what appears to be a cloak with the wings of freedom embroidery. No wonder this girl looked like Rachel at first glance, she is Ilse Lagnar. A member of the Survey Corps and was a part of the 34th expeditions outside the walls. If I remembered correctly, and I'm pretty sure I was right since that was a weird week with Rachel when that OVA CAME out, was that she was supposed to be eaten by a talking titan, like the one the I just curb stomped and-oh. It was the one that just curb stomped. I just fucked up big time didn't I?
Before I could ponder any longer about the butterfly effect that would happen now that Ilse lived said girl was groaning in my hand. Remembering that she had just fainted I decided to look for a suitable shelter. I may have changed the story by saving her but I sure wasn't about to let her die, after all it's the last that I could do for Rachel.
It turned out that looking for a habitat while holding a very squishy human was surprisingly difficult. I had to focus on searching and on my hand as to not accidentally squeeze her to into s red splatter. After hours of searching I was able to find a cave near the foot of a hill. After making sure that the inside of th cave was not full of man eating animals I gently placed her inside and decided to sit by the opening. I was hoping that she would wake soon because it was soon nearing nighttime, and I was not sure if I was a part of the titans that were able to stay active during the dark. Against my better judgment I decided to lay outside of the cave using my body to block the entrance. Hopefully she would wake after I do just in case that she starts freaking out due to waking up in the proximity of a titan. I tested my vocal cords, trying to speak. It came out successful as my voice rumbled out the words
"Good night"
