"Listen son, I don't get why you are so gung ho on being a hero." Hayato Hayabusa sighed as he stared down at his son who was eagerly bouncing in the backyard. With Hayato being in his early 40s, standing at about 6 '1", he towered over his son, Yuta Hayabusa with his brown eyes looking at his son with slight exhaustion because they had been outside for a few hours already.
His son, Yuta, was a small child that had dark brown and very messy hair with some spikes in it. However, his one green eye could be seen as he locked onto his father with a determined gaze. He grinned with his sharp teeth as he took in a deep breath. "Because I am unstoppable!" Yuta cheered as he charged towards his father once again. Hayato rolled his eyes and smiled as he held out his palm, Yuta, who was still playing, ran into it and kept running trying to push his dad back.
"By the looks of things, you are very stoppable" Hayato laughed as his son struggled, he had a devious glint in his eyes as he used his quirk. A green energy slowly worked his way down the veins in his arm and collected in his palm. Then a second later his son was pushed back a few feet as he tumbled back.
Yuta jumped back up a second later and laughed with his dad before getting back to his feet. "I'm not done yet!" Yuta charged forward once again but something was different this time. His father saw this and his brows furrowed as he got a little more serious. His son threw his arm back and prepared to punch his fathers palm. Hayato sent out his fist instead and connected with his son's punch. While he did not throw a lot of force behind the punch it still should have been enough to knock him over. Instead, his son went forward with another punch, and it looked to be faster than his first. Hayato, with his eyes widening slightly, watched as his son's fist connected with his again, but it felt stronger and had more weight behind it.
"Wait!" Hayato commanded, which startled his son as his father normally did not raise his voice unless it was something serious. He watched as his father knelt down so they were eye level. "Bud, what did you just do?" This made Yuta sweat a little as he didn't feel any different or do anything weird.
"What do you mean? I-I just threw two punches, did I do something wrong?" Yuta asked with a hint of concern in his voice. His dad locked his eyes on him with a strong gaze and held out his palm with his energy collecting within his arm.
"I want you to punch my hand, and do not stop until I say so" Hayato commanded, looking at his son with a determined look. It was slightly confusing for Yuta, but he slowly pulled his arm back and threw it at his fathers palm.
"Like that?" Yuta asked, confused.
"Just like that son, do it again, keep throwing punches like you mean it" Hayato said, paying close attention to the glow in his arms. Yuta, while confused, nodded and started to punch his palm. Then just as before, after the first punch Yuta threw it seemed like his punch grew stronger and faster with the next one, and then the next, and the next one after that.
Yuta saw this and his eyes widened, he could control the speed and power behind it and he felt more powerful with each connected strike. He kept going, feeling stronger and faster with each action, his eyes turned from confusion at the start to now pure excitement. "Dad! Look at me go! I'm super fast and strong!" Yuta cheered with his fathers lips turning up into a giant grin.
"Keep going, bud! I can store a lot of kinetic energy so don't hold back!" Hayato cheered as his son became faster and faster, with each strike carrying more weight and even pushing him back slightly. His grin only grew wider as his son had just shown his quirk for the very first time. 'My boy! You are going to grow up to be such a strong man,' Hayato said internally as he saw the giant grin on his son's face.
Unknown to the father and son duo, Mika Hayabusa just got home and was searching for both her husband and her son. After searching throughout the house she got to the kitchen and saw the father son duo outside. Her eyes widened and saw her son moving at nearly super speed with her husband grinning like a madman. She quickly ran to the door and opened it, "Honey?!" She called out, catching both of them off guard. Yuta, still extremely excited, stopped punching and ran towards his mother. However, his quirk was still in effect and he sped towards his mother at super speed. She caught this at the last moment and quickly fell to the ground and used her quirk to change the friction of the ground to make it create a high resistance ground. The ground had a light blue light shine across the top and it made her son slow down considerably. However, he still had plenty of momentum to crash into his mother and knock both of them to the ground. "Baby! Please be careful!" Mika reprimanded her son but still her him close smiling from ear to ear.
"Honey! Did you see? Yuta manifested his quirk!" Hayato cheered as the veins in his arm shined bright green. "Look at this! He was able to build up this much kinetic energy in my arm!".
"Yeah mom! Did you see? I was a super fast and super strong hero!" Yuta cheered in his moms arms as he raised both hands and flexed. Seeing both her husband and son geek out and smiling made her laugh and smile right back at them.
"I saw, baby! You were so cool!" She laughed before standing up with her son in her arms. She met Hayato, who was walking towards her, with a kiss on the cheek. "I guess I know how your day went, honey." She joked before turning to her son, "And you mister man, we are going to need to get your quirk checked out to see what you can do" Mika smiled at her son and he practically started vibrating in her arms.
"YES! When can we go? Can we go now? I want to go now!" Yuta eagerly said while looking back and forth between his parents. His mother looked at his dad and his dad looked at his watch.
"I don't see why not, I'll give the doctor a call and let him know we are on our way." Hayato smiled as he pulled out his phone.
"YAY!" Yuta cheered which made both his parents chuckle. Once they grabbed all they needed, they locked up their house and made their way towards the doctor's office. The entire time Yuta was talking of the possibilities of his quirk and what it could be. While he wasn't able to understand what his quick could actually do, he brainstormed what he thought it could be. Granted, these ideas were just 'super strength' and 'super speed' and the best one he thought of was both. His parents just smiled and laughed, telling him to wait and see what the doctor said before letting his mind go wild.
However, that just wasn't possible for Yuta as once he started he just couldn't stop. That is how he always was, always determined to keep going non-stop. Little did he know, his quirk would be a perfect embodiment of his personality. Once they arrived at the doctors they checked him out and from the description, and demonstration they took Yuta to do some tests. They made him do basic exercises with the doctor paying close attention to everything he did. The doctor's quirk allowed him to have full perception of his field of view so he doesn't miss a single thing. He took notes and began to theorize what his quirk was. After the tests were completed he sat Yuta and his parents down in his office and began.
"Yuta's quirk, *Momentum Surge, allows him to build kinetic energy with every successful attack or movement. Each consecutive hit makes his strikes faster and stronger, and dodging or moving rapidly also increases his speed and force. However, if his momentum is broken by an interruption which can range from being knocked down or stopped, he has to start building up again from scratch again. This could make him highly vulnerable to opponents who can disrupt his flow and stop him in his tracks" The Doctor explained, addressing all three of the Hayabusa making sure to highlight all of their questions.
"Does that mean I can keep building momentum until I am a super fast super hero?" Yuta asked, which got a chuckle out of the doctor.
"With how your quirk is now, that may take awhile my boy, but I am sure with training you could make a fine hero." Yuta's eyes sparkled and he looked up at his parents who were smiling brightly. They asked a few more questions and the doctor advised that he join a dojo or an athletic team when he gets started at elementary school. Yuta quickly turned to his parents with his eyes sparkling as his lip quivering.
"Pleaseeeeeee? I'll get good gradesssssss" Yuta pleaded with his parents and they both rolled their eyes with warm smiles. Hayato reached out and pat his sons head while he sat in his mothers lap.
"I was already planning on enrolling you in the Kendo Dojo, so don't worry your energetic butt bud." Hayato laughed as he ruffled his son's brown hair. He smiled towards the doctor, "Do you need anything else from us Doc? We have a lot of work to deal with this one." Pointing his thumb towards his son who was being held down by his mother or else he would be bouncing off the walls.
"I'll need both of you to sign some documents and to take this packet here," He held out a file named 'Momentum Surge' and it contained all the current information the doctor could gather regarding their son's quirk. "If you ever make any new discoveries, then please write them on the first form and submit them so that they can be updated. The forms will be reviewed and after he comes in to demonstrate the new ability it will be updated in the quirk directory. Besides that," as he turned his attention to mainly Yuta, "You will grow up to be a fine hero my boy. However, do not forget to be a kind person to others." The doctor said with a warm look. While he did not elaborate on his last sentence, his parents read between the lines. Due to quirks evolving and becoming more powerful with each generation, some turn arrogant, nasty, cruel, and worst of all, villainous. However, after his last sentence Yuta jumped out of his mothers lap and landed on his feet in front of the doctor.
"I would NEVER! I am going to be an amazing, super fast and powerful hero that saves everyone!" He declared pointing a finger at the doctor's face, "I won't let anyone get hurt! EVER!"
That, while not the best answer he has received, satisfied the doctor enough to chuckle and wave them out. While his parents did have to sign some forms before they left, they quickly made their way home to have dinner. Unknown to Yuta, after dinner and he had gone to bed(After a lot of running around and excitement), his parents had a conversation.
"Our boy has a quirk, and it is quite powerful to boot" Hayato started taking off his shoes.
"There was no doubt in my mind it would be with how complex our quirks are, Honey, but I do worry about him." Mika grimaced as she got into her nightgown and got into bed.
"What do you mean? We are here for him, we won't let him turn out like the other kids." Hayato assured as he removed his shirt and pants to also get into bed.
"I don't worry about that as much as I worry about his safety, he wants to be a hero, fighting villains!" Mika protested. "I don't want to see him hurt Hayato, and you already know how he is now, and with his quirk he will be the first one on the battlefield!"
"I know, Honey." Hayato faltered, but he looked at her with a strong gaze, "But he has us, and we will make sure he will be strong enough to take on anything." Grabbing his wife's hand he stared deeply into her eyes, "I swear as your husband, and as his father, that he will become a strong hero that can withstand anything and everything this world throws at him."
"But Hayato, we don't know everything that is out there. What if there is a villain that can counter his quirk perfectly?"
"Then we will prepare him for that. I know you are worried, I am too, but we are going to make sure that he is going to be strong, compassionate, and smart. We can train him with our quirks and prepare him for any scenario that he could come across."
"I know we will, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I will worry about him."
"I feel the same way Honey, but we can prepare him as much as possible so it can ease our anxiety."
Mika hesitated for a moment before letting out a defeated sigh, "You are right, I want to keep supporting him, so first thing tomorrow let's get him enrolled into the Kendo Dojo and have a workout routine set up for him."
Hayato smiled and gave his wife a quick peck, "Okay Honey, I'll handle the workout routine and work with him on it, we should also change up our diet to get him high quality meals."
Mika smiled, "That's a great idea, Honey, I'll take him to the Kendo Dojo tomorrow though, I want to see Hana again."
Hayato laughed, "It has been ages since we have seen them, I hear they have a daughter too, I think she is the same age as Yuta." This made Mika's eyes sparkle as she got right in his face.
"What's her name?! Oh is she adorable? I bet she is so cute!" Mika gushed as she started to roll around the bed, "I wonder if she will become friends with Yuta, oh I can see it now!" She giggled as Hayato had a sweatdrop form on his head.
"Honey, please don't play matchmaker, our son is still so young."
"I won't, I'm just going to introduce the two children to each other." Mika smiled sweetly, but had a dark energy hiding behind her eyes.
"Oh Honey, just don't go crazy with Hana please." Hayato begged as he chuckled lightly. 'Watch out bud, you are about to be thrown into the ring with a lioness' Hayato mentally grimaced remembering how Hana and Kenji Kendo were when they were younger.
Both Hayabusa parents quickly went to sleep, a slight hint of worry plaguing their minds, but it was overshadowed by the sheer excitement for the future of their child. However, what they did not know was how quickly Yuta was going to grow to become such a strong young man, but that was in the future, we still have much to cover before that story is told…
ANDDDD DONE! Chapter 1 of Velocity Fist has been completed. I hope you all enjoyed it. I cannot say that I will be releasing chapters in a timely manner as writer's block has been a BITCH to me.
