Ship Day 2020

Jack&Sam 4ever

Live to Ride, Ride to Live

Samantha sat in her living room watching an old black and white movie called 'The Thin Man' (A/N1) eating blue jello. She laughed as Nora Charles got her husband, Nick Charles, into another mystery despite his silent protests. Sam put the movie on pause getting up to grab another diet coke from her fridge. General Hammond put her on forced leave after being stranded alone on the Prometheus. He was being overly cautious in her opinion but Uncle George has his reasons. He also put the rest of SG-1 on down time too although not forced. Teal'C went to visit his son on Chulak while Daniel went to an Egyptian exhibit in DC. Jack presumably went to his cabin in Minnesota to fish in a fishless pond.

She had conflicting emotions after kissing the figment version of Col. O'Neill verse's the real deal. Could there a chance they had a future? Should she go on the blind date with her brother's friend Pete Shanahan? These questions and more ran through her mind as she leaned against her counter holding the diet coke. Sam sighed because what she wanted was so close but so far away. Now she knew how Adam & Eve felt with the fruit tree. Sam started walking back into her living room when a sound piqued her interest. Sam set her pop down then walked into the living room with curiosity.

The sound belonged to a Harley Davidson and it was pulling into her driveway. She didn't know anyone who owned a Harley. The engine she knew though, it's a 81cc that produced 49 horsepower. Sam went to the picture window looking out seeing an Air Force blue 1990 Fat Boy. The man had his back to her so she couldn't make out who it was. He had a muscular built with broad shoulders standing about 6 foot tall. Sam was about to go get her M9 service Beretta when the man removed his helmet and turned around grinning.

"Holly Hanna! Jack has a Harley Davidson Fat Boy! 'Oh...that man! He's been holding out on me all this time." Sam said going to the door intent on giving her CO a piece of her mind. She opened the door finding Jack...Col. O'Neill standing there hands in pockets rocking on his heels. He looked her up and down mouth agape. Sam was too busy taking in his appearance to notice the expression on Jacks face. The first thing she noticed was the Harley riding boots with their logo and chains. His leather riding coat had various states and locations on it including Sturgis, South Dakota. Jacks hair was all messed up from wearing the helmet but she looked into his chocolate brown eyes getting lost. Her previous thoughts of laying into the man were replaced with others, ones that were forbidden. "Like my Iron horse Carter, I thought you might want a ride...I meant go for a ride, not, oh you know what I mean." He said running his fingers through his hair trying to keep a neutral face.

Sam was brought out of her thoughts looking from him to the Harley then back. She grinned pulling Jack inside much to his surprise then closed the door. Sam had the urge to kiss Jack for real but put her emotions in check, she'd take a cold shower later. She crossed her arms under her chest giving the man a stern look. "Okay, I get it. You feel like I have been holding out on you." he said feeling like a raw recruit in boot camp not taking his eyes off her, damn she was hot. 'Keep your eyes on her face Jack, don't look down...dammit' he said to himself. She just nodded for him to continue as if expecting an apology. "Maybe I should have told you before now but..." Jack started to explain but Sam cut him off. "There's no maybe sir, you defiantly should have told me. You have a Fat Boy Harley for crying out loud!" she replied poking her finger in his chest. "...and yes we are going on a ride only I'm bringing my 48' Indian Chief along. Go sit in my living room and I'll be right back." Sam ordered leaving no room for discussion. Jack held up his hands backing up into her living room fighting back a huge grin. 'Damn, I need to drop by unannounced more often' he thought.

She walked into her bed room opening the closet pulling out a riding outfit. Sam suddenly realized what she was wearing while changing outfits. The reason for Jacks grin was her daisy dukes, ones she dared not wear outside. Her top was the one from when she jumped Col. O'Neill in the locker room. That explained Jacks attempt at keeping eye contact instead of her chest. Sam did a fist pump knowing she just gave Jack an eyeful and he approved. His reaction proved the attraction was mutual beyond a shadow of doubt. There was no turning back now so she changed into her riding leathers purposely putting on a semi tight top and form fitted jeans. Sam looked at her reflection in the mirror satisfied that she'd have his undivided attention. Then an idea hit her, one that would on the dangerous side. She pulled out a few more items placing in an overnight bag. There was no telling where they'd end up at so it was best to be prepared.

"Sir, I'm packed and ready to go." Sam said walking into the living room dropping her bag on the floor making him look at her. Jack looked at Carter falling in love with her even more. She had on black leather jacket with pink sleeves and black crop top underneath. The leather pants were similar to the jacket; obviously she wanted them to match being a woman. The boots were similar to his only with a pink Indian logo. Damn woman was trying to give him a heart attack, but he'd die a happy man. "You okay sir! Do you need some air?" She asked knowing full well the affect her outfit was having on him. "I'm better than okay Carter. Oh, by the way, if I knew you liked the 'Thin Man' series of movies I'd joined you sooner. I watched them with my grandparents at the cabin." Jack said getting up taking the liberty of turning off the VCR and TV. Truth was other thoughts were on his mind concerning his sexy as hell 2IC.

"We can have a watch party for our next team night sir; I think Teal'C would like it." Sam replied bending over picking up her bag slowly on purpose. "Um, Carter...since were off duty and going on a BIKE ride don't you think first names are in order?" He said watching her closely. Yep, this was a very bad idea but it's too late. There was no turning back now, full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes! Jack thought to himself. "If you say so...Jack." Sam replied with a grin liking how his name sounded. "...after you Samantha." He said thinking two can play this game dangerous as it was.

Butterflies filled her stomach as they walked into her garage. Jack helped her take the cover off the Indian as they both appreciated the vintage motorcycle. "She really is a beautiful; you did a great job restoring it." He said gazing at both the bike and her. "Thank you Jack, it was a labor of love." Sam answered as she put her stuff in the saddle bags (A/N2). The garage door opened letting in the sunlight as it shone on her Indian making it shine. Sam rolled the bike outside letting it sit on the kick stand. Jack waited outside while Sam went through her house locking up. She noted the time, 0947hrs. Today was only Tuesday and they had until Monday to be back. Sam reminded herself about the fraternization rules but the mischievous angel told the good angel to go pound sand. She locked up deciding the frat regulations could be pushed to the limit just this once.

"Do you have a destination in mind Jack?" Sam asked getting on the Indian and starting it up with a roar. The local dogs started to bark like they normally did when she went for rides. Jack put his helmet on over his 'born to fly' bandana. Sam mimicked him only without a bandana. "It's about the ride Sam, the destination will find us." He responded with a smile firing up his Harley making the dogs bark even more. Sam looked at her CO. No, she looked at Jack, the incredibly hot and lovable man that he was. "Live to ride..." she said to which Jack Replied "...Ride to live!" With that said the two of them went towards I-70 west and into the great unknown.

A/N1: The movie 'Thin Man' is a black & white movie made in 1934 staring Myrna Loy and William Powell. The characters Nick Charles and Nora Charles solve murder mysteries much to Nick's reluctance. The series of movie are worth watching in my opinion; I laugh my arse off almost the whole time.

A/N2: Saddle bags go over the rear wheel for storage while riding. They are a carryover from the cowboy days.

11:23Hrs: The home phone of Samantha Carter rang getting picked up by the answering machine. 'You've reached Carter, Techno babble specialist. You got my answering machine because I'm out breaking the Laws of Physics. Please leave your name and number and I'll call back!' Pete listened to her voice thinking it sounded like she had fun recording the message. He waited for the beep then left his message. "HI Samantha, this is Detective Pete Shanahan. Your brother's friend, he gave me your home number so I could contact you. Mark said you were on down time this week. There's a small coffee shop not far from the police station, would you want to meet there? Just give me a call at 123-456-7890 and we can talk, I look forward to meeting you Samantha." Pete said hanging up wondering why she didn't answer. Mark told him she'd be home today. He shrugged his shoulders picking the case file back up going back over it again confident she'd call back soon.
