As Jon led Visenya through the various hallways and corridors of Castle Black, she began to wonder what it would be like to meet someone like her. For most of her life, she thought she was the last Targaryen...hence why many northerners, and many throughout Westeros, referred to her as The Last Targaryen. Then upon hearing about Daenerys being alive, she pushed that idea out of her mind.
Growing up in Winterfell, she had always wondered what the Wall would be like, and if her uncle, the Maester Aemon, was alive. Here she was, being escorted by her nephew, whom she considered to be her brother, to meet a man, who probably thought she was dead. Nonetheless, she was eager to meet the man.
Jon paused at a door and turned to look her in the eyes. "Maester Aemon didn't know you survived, and is not expecting you. He is blind, slightly hard of hearing, and very fragile...Sam is with him now."
Visenya nodded as Jon slowly opened the door, allowing for Visenya to carefully walk in. She saw a young girl, probably a few years younger than she was, holding a baby, along with a man around Jon's age, and an elderly man with white hair, all sitting at a table writing in some book.
"What is it, Jon?" The man asked standing up to meet Jon.
Jon gestured toward Visenya. "Sam, this is Visenya Targaryen..."
"The Queen of Dragons?" Sam asked with wide eyes before giving Visenya a slight bow. "Princess, it is an honor."
Visenya took one of his hands and placed her palms over it. "It is a pleasure to meet a friend of Jon's."
Sam then gestured to the woman and infant. "This is Gilly, and her son, Sam."
Visenya frowned. "I thought members of the Night's Watch were not allowed to..."
"He is not Sam's." Gilly answered. "Sam is helping me."
Visenya gave her a small smile and nodded as she watched Sam walk over to the older man, and begin to quietly speak to him. Visenya looked at the man with sorrow...wishing he could see her...wishing he could fully understand her.
"Impossible." Aemon began. "The children of Aerys are dead. Visenya Targaryen was slaughtered by Lord Eddard Stark, I received the word from Robert Baratheon himself. A Targaryen alone in the world is a terrible thing...and there are no Targaryens left in this world, except me."
Visenya let out a small sigh and sat down next to the old man, taking his hands into hers.
"It is me, dear Uncle." Visenya began quietly. "Lord Eddard did not kill me, he took pity on me, and took me to Winterfell...practically raising me as a child of his own. I am alive, and I am sorry Lord Stark never told you."
The older man was silent, as he tried to look at Visenya, but Visenya knew he couldn't see anything due to his blindness. After a few moments, a small smile came onto the older man's face.
"You...you sound just like Rhaella." He smiled, and Visenya gave him a small smile back, even though she knew he wouldn't see it. "You are nothing like your father."
She nodded. "I'm nothing like Aerys."
"Finally, the Gods got one of us right." He practically whispered making tears form in the girl's eyes. "Lord Commander, Samwell...please show my niece to her chambers...I am sure she has made a long and treacherous journey to be here."
Jon nodded with a small smile. "I'm sure she has."
"I have something to show you." Visenya began, still not moving from her position, and still holding the older man's hands. "I have dragons."
"The dragons are gone. Your grandfather...my brother, tried to hatch eggs of his own, but burned himself alive at Summerhall. My brother, Aerion, killed himself by drinking Wildfyre...attempting to become a dragon himself."
Visenya shook head. "I have a dragon sitting beyond the walls of Castle Black...a golden one, who's scales reflect sunlight when it is shown on them. The other dragon is pure sapphire, with scales that mimic the foreign jewels of Essos...and I am able to ride them both."
The older man was silent, and Visenya studied his features, trying to figure out, if the man was deep in thought, or in utter confusion of what she was saying.
"Do you want to meet her?" She questioned softly.
"They call you The Queen of Dragons, do they not?" He countered smiling softly, making her also smile in response, before letting go of his hands and standing up from her seat.
Jon and Sam frowned at Visenya, as she left the room, and in a matter of moments, just as she began to venture through the various corridors, they both caught up with her.
"I will not allow you to bring a dragon inside the walls of Castle Black." Jon began.
"I'm going to land her just outside the gates." She replied cooly. "You need to bring my uncle down to meet her."
"The man is too fragile, one wrong move and..." Sam began.
"The man has been grief-stricken and sorrowed for many years, thinking his entire family is gone. His brothers died, trying to bring back the dragons, and now not only is a member of his family here and in his presence, but she has a dragon, waiting a few miles outside of these walls. Do you really think, I will not give the man his wishes?" She countered, completely silencing the two men when she did.
They knew she was right. They wouldn't deny the old man's wishes...if anything, for all the years he did serving in the Night's Watch, the least they could do, is allowing for him to meet a dragon. Visenya immediately continued out of Castle Black and into the snowy tundra that was the North, and continued to walk until she laid her eyes on Sunspear, who was resting in the snow. Upon seeing Visenya, the golden she-dragon lifted her head, and let out a soft roar, almost to confirm Visenya's suspicions of how much the dragon hated the cold.
Visenya smiled. "Nyke gīmigon ao vēdros se sōnia, yn īlon issi naejot rhaenagon mēre hen īlvon. Se ānogar hen zaldrīzes. (I know you hate the north, but we are to meet one of our own. The blood of the dragon.)"
In that moment, the golden dragon lowered herself, allowing for Visenya to climb onto her back, before they took off. It wasn't long that they were in the air, but eventually, Visenya landed the golden she-dragon in front of the gates to Castle Black, and no sooner she did, they opened revealing Jon, Sam, Gilly, Sansa, many other members of the Night's Watch, along with Brienne and Podrick who were towards the back as well...though she didn't notice them on arrival. Aemon though, was sitting in a chair, awaiting for Visenya to come and get him.
"Dohaerās, Sunspear, lykirī. (Serve me, Sunspear, be calm.)" Visenya ordered, and the golden dragon obeyed the commands almost instantly, widening the eyes of all of the individuals standing before it.
Visenya calmly walked over to Aemon, knelt, and grabbed his left hand.
"Are you ready to meet a dragon?" She asked softly and the older man nodded.
Carefully guiding him out of his chair, she slowly walked him over to Sunspear, who was awaiting for Visenya to return to her. Once they stopped in front of Sunspear, who lowered her head, to allow for the man to touch her, Visenya carefully guided the older man's hand onto the dragon's face.
Almost instantly, Aemon gasped and smiled at the sensation. Never in his life did he imagine that he'd be able to feel a living dragon, and here he was feeling one. He was mesmerized by it. While he couldn't see it, he could picture it's beauty the way Visenya described her.
"Skoros iksos zȳhon brōzi? (What is her name?)" He asked still petting the dragon.
"Sunspear." Visenya answered. "Nyke brōstan zȳhon tolī Elia Martell's sȳrje dīnagon isse Dorne. Issa tolie zaldrīzes iksos Aegonar, tolī zȳhon se Rhaegar's tresy. (I named her after Elia Martell's favorite place in Dorne. My other dragon is called Aegonar, after her and Rhaegar's son.)"
The older man nodded, feeling tears well into his eyes, as Visenya guided him back to his seat. Before she walked back to Sunspear, he gripped her hands.
"Thank you." He said in awe.
She nodded and smiled. "Of course."
She then turned to Jon. "I will return shortly, I want to place her somewhere where she will not interfere with any riders coming through."
Jon nodded. "Of course, once you return, we have much to discuss."
She frowned in confusion, but nodded, before she mounted Sunspear once more, and took off. About an hour later, Visenya returned to Castle Black, and was escorted into the mess hall where she was met by Jon, Brienne, Sansa, Podrick, Melisandre, and a few other men she didn't know (who all looked at her in awe.)
"You called for me?" She asked in confusion.
Jon nodded before gesturing to the unfamiliar men. "Yes, I did. Senya this is Ser Davos Seaworth, Tormund whom I met during my time venturing beyond the Wall, and this is Eddison Tollet, whom many of us call...Dolorous Edd."
Visenya gave a nod to each of them before turning to Melisandre. "It is good to see you again."
She nodded to her. "You as well, Princess."
"Why are all of these people here?" Visenya questioned. "I don't understand why you would ally yourself with those of Stannis Baratheon."
Jon sighed. "There is a war coming. I saw it with my own eyes. The White Walkers have returned."
Visenya's eyes widened. "I thought they were just a piece in that story Old Nan use to tell us before we went to bed?"
Davos shook his head. "Princess they are real...there are thousands, perhaps millions of them...I've seen them with my own eyes, and they are coming this way."
She immediately turned to Melisandre. "This is what you warned me about? The war? A long night...it can't be."
Melisandre nodded to Visenya who immediately gripped the table in front of her.
"What is it?" Sansa asked in confusion.
"I thought it was just a story." She whispered. "I thought it was all just a story."
"What story?" Brienne, Edd, and Podrick asked...Tormund remained quiet, intrigued what the woman had to say.
When Visenya picked her head up to look them all in the eyes, they could see shock on her face...disbelief, and horror.
"The Conqueror's dream." She began. "It was a story my brother Rhaegar use to tell me. It was story that only ruling Targaryen and their heir were to know...but because Aegon was too young to understand...Rhaegar told me. It told of the reason as to why Aegon the Conqueror conquered all of Westeros...it was because he saw a harsh, dark, and long winter followed by a great war. In the great war, he saw two armies, one living, and one dead, the army of the dead made of ice, while the living army was made of fire."
"The White Walkers." Tormund said after the long period of silence.
She nodded. "He took this meaning that a Targaryen was to lead them by uniting the Seven Kindoms. He had the last living pyromancers of Old Valyria to inscribe his dream on a dagger that was made of Dragonglass. Supposedly it said, 'From my blood will come the Prince That was Promised, and his will be The Song of Ice and Fire.'"
All of them were in silence at the revelation that Visenya was making, especially Jon and Sansa, as they never heard this story from her. Melisandre smiled to herself...knowing that after all this time, Visenya had finally figured out the message she was trying to convey...though Visenya still hadn't figured out that she had a part in the prophecy, as did her sister, and as did Jon, who still didn't know he was a Targaryen.
"We will discuss this matter later." Jon explained. "But that is not why I called you to meet with me."
"What is it then?" She asked with concern.
"Rickon is alive." Sansa immediately answered. "But he is with Ramsay Bolton...who is now the Lord of Winterfell."
Visenya's eyes widened. "Is Rickon ok?"
Jon let out a sigh before handing a letter to Visenya...the letter Ramsay sent to them. As she began to read it, her eyes widened in horror more so than they did before. Once she finished reading, she handed the letter back to Jon.
"I will burn them to the ground, if they lay a hand on him." Visenya threatened. "I will feed him to my dragons if I have to!"
"That is what he wants." Brienne explained. "He wants you to be angered."
"He feeds of fear." Sansa began. "I was married to him...I know what he is like. He is a cruel and vile man...but all of us against Ramsay will not solve the issue."
"How many men are in his army?" Visenya questioned crossing her arms.
"I heard him say 5,000 once when he was talking about Stannis's attack." Sansa sighed.
Jon turned to Tormund. "How many do you have?"
"That can march and fight?" Tormund countered. "2,000. The rest are children and old people."
"You're the son of the last true Warden of the North." Sansa explained taking Jon's hand. "Northern families are loyal. They'll fight for you if you ask."
She then turned to Visenya and grabbed her hand. "And you are The Queen of Dragons. I heard what you did for the Forresters in Ironwrath and Highpoint. They will swear their lives to you, hearing this news. You are the Princess of Dragonstone, and rightful heir to the Iron Throne...they will swear loyalty to you, and House Stark. A monster has taken our home and our brother. We have to go back to Winterfell and save them both."
Visenya and Jon both looked to each other, before looking to Sansa, before all of them sharing a nod. While they may not be siblings by blood, each of them, considered the other family...and right now, all that was on their minds, was reestablishing what was rightfully theirs.
A/N:
I've been planning the meeting with Maester Aemon and Visenya for a long time now, and I hope you all enjoyed it. Since the beginning of the story, I wanted him to live longer than what the show did, just so that the two could meet, and he could meet Sunspear. For all of those Aegonar fans waiting for him to return...he won't be gone for much longer ;)
