Upon entering the gates to the Red Keep, Visenya saw complete and utter chaos when looking around her. Palace guards were trying to keep the common-folk out, after the rumor spread that Jaime had tried to kill Ned. Visenya, being the 'niece' to the Hand, was immediately allowed into the Courtyard where she handed Rhaenys to one of the stablehands.
"Lady Valaria!" The people called to her, making her turn her head towards the people at the gates.
Fear came upon her face, as her memory flashed back to when Robert sacked King's Landing. The screaming chaos, the common-folk trying to come into the Red Keep. The entire experience left a traumatic scar on her mind.
Visenya turned back towards the Red Keep and practically ran inside. Many of the members of the Kingsguard and other maids and palace workers urged her to stop running to try and ensure she doesn't get hurt...but it didn't work. She ran past the Ruling Council room, and bursted into The Hand's office, to find Ned sitting calmly at his desk.
"What happened?" She asked with wide eyes and concern.
"Jaime Lannister stabbed me in the leg." He calmly explained.
"Why?" She frowned sitting down in one of the chairs across from his desk.
"Catelyn has taken his brother as a prisoner, and is on her way to The Vale." He continued. "She believes that he has something to do with Bran falling from the tower."
Visenya's eyes widened. "What?"
"That is not all." Ned explained, as he pushed his Hand of the King pin towards the girl. "I resigned as Hand of the King, but I was reinstated...by Robert."
"Why did you resign."
"Your sister is pregnant." Ned sighed.
"Daenerys?" Visenya asked hesistantly.
Ned nodded. "Robert wants to send assassins after them. Your brother, your sister and her unborn child..."
Visenya noticed his trailing off. "And?"
He looked down at his hands on the desk before looking up to meet her blue eyes. "And you."
"Me?" She questioned in disbelief. "Why me?"
"He is beginning to believe that you escaped my crutches that day. Fled to Dragonstone with your mother and brother." Ned explained. "I never did confirm finding you to kill you, though I explained that the blood on the floor did belong to you."
"We need to inform my sister." Visenya explained. "Tell her that trouble is coming."
Ned shook his head. "I have no knowledge of where in Essos she and Viserys are...and if I did, I'd have you sent to be with them. But right now, we must tread carefully. If Robert finds out who you are...he will have your head."
Visenya looked down at her hands before looking back to Ned, tears welling in her eyes.
"I want them dead." She whispered. "I want them all dead."
Ned nodded. "I know. What he did to your family was wrong, but you cannot take your emotions out on them now. You against an army will not work."
"I wish my dragon eggs would hatch." She murmured making Ned frown. "I keep reading that dragons need fire...I wish I understood what it meant."
He thought for a moment before he sighed. "I want you to head back to Winterfell."
She frowned. "What on earth for?"
"I am beginning to believe what Jon Arryn was trying to find. He was searching for King Robert's bastards, one was recently just born...her mother in a brothel. Jon Arryn tracked them all down." He explained. "Though I am beginning to wonder why, and based upon the Lannister's reaction to me today, I am beginning to believe that they are hiding something."
She looked him over before sighing and beginning to pick her fingers again.
"I want you in Winterfell where you are safe." He explained.
"What about my betrothal to Jaime?" She asked cautiously.
"I will speak to Robert and explained Catelyn called for you. I will have it dismissed."
"And what of Sansa and Arya?"
He sighed again. "I will speak to them after I sit the throne. The King is on a hunt. For now, I want you to pack as quickly as you can, and leave at nightfall. Ride as fast as you can, and get as far away from King's Landing as you can."
Visenya nodded as she stood up from her chair, as Ned walked around to the other side of the desk, before pulling the girl into a hug. As he pulled away from her, he placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Remember who you are, Visenya. Be careful, and I will see you soon." He explained placing a hand on her cheek, knowing the girl was having trouble accepting that she would be leaving.
Visenya tearfully nodded before walking out of Ned's office, and as soon as she exited, she calmly wiped her tears away. She swiftly walked past the various guards, before she broke out into a run, heading towards the Tower of the Hand. Visenya eagerly climbed the steps of The Tower of the Hand, taking two at a time, and just before she was about to get to her chambers, she was met by a hard wall.
Jaime.
"What are you doing?" He asked, noticing her eagerness and concern in her eyes.
She shook her head. "I wanted to check my cousins."
Just as she started to walk past him, he grabbed the upper portion of her arm. Visenya's eyes widened in anger and annoyance.
"Let go of me." She demanded.
"I ride for Riverrun this evening." He began. "And you're coming with me."
She shook her head. "On who's orders?"
"My father's." He explained.
Visenya narrowed her eyes.
"You do not have any authority over me." She began, moving her arm to allow him to release her, before she turned to walk away. "You are not my husband."
"My father requested you specifically." He sighed making her stop in her tracks.
She turned around to look him in the eyes, annoyance and anger still present. He let out a small sigh before addressing her once more.
"Pack quickly."
As he walked away, her eyes narrowed in frustration and anger. She hated him with a passion, but she hated his father more. All she wanted was to head back to Winterfell, but now she had to head to Riverrun. She carefully walked into her room, and started to pack, and just as she did so, her eyes fell on the dragon eggs sitting at the bottom of the chest at the foot of her bed. She eyed them for a few moments before she carefully placed both of them in a travel sack along with various books relating to dragons and dragon eggs. One way or another, she was going to figure out how to hatch those eggs...so then she could burn Robert Baratheon to the ground.
By the time they left, it was just upon the sunset. Some of Jaime's men rode with them, and while Visenya longed to head back to Winterfell...perhaps she'd be able to meet The Blackfish, who was her 'father'.
Hopefully the man knew who she was. She prayed to the Gods, Old and New, that he knew who she was. Because if he didn't...she feared for what would happen. They rode hard and fast, until they reached the first inn, making Visenya sigh in somewhat happiness, as she was grateful Rhaenys could be able to rest.
As Jaime ensured that his men were guarding the inn, Visenya stayed in her room, and continued to read, on how to hatch her dragon eggs. She glanced briefly at the fireplace, watching the flames before glancing back to her dragon eggs.
Fire.
Dragons.
Dragons need fire.
Her eyes widened in clarity as she realized what the book meant. The dragon eggs needed fire to hatch. How great of a fire...was unclear, but until then...she needed fire. They needed fire.
And right now, all Visenya wanted was dragons. Carefully lifting both eggs into her hands, she placed them onto the fireplace, before placing the screen across it, to hide them, so no one would find out she was harboring dragon eggs. All she hoped for was to have two dragons, to allow her to kill Robert Baratheon, for the pain he caused her.
Just as she pulled the screen across the fireplace, a knock was at her door.
"Enter." She gently replied.
One of Jaime's men opened the door.
"Ser Jaime requests your presence for supper." He explained.
Visenya nodded. "Tell him I'll be down soon."
The man nodded, before carefully closing the door. Visenya let out another sigh before she turned back toward the fire, watching the flames rise. Her eyes trailed from the height of the flames to the dragon eggs sitting at the bottom of the fire. All that she could do now was hope for her eggs to hatch, and for Sansa and Arya to escape King's Landing.
