Summer Ends
The Rating Game between Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri ended in the latter's defeat, because of the technique of Issei at the last second. Despite winning against the Sitri Heiress, the Gremory Group ended up suffering from a brutal blow. Each member of the Gremory Peerage came from the summer training, believing that it wouldn't be all that difficult match to win, because of their improvements. But then, they went against the Sitri Peerage, who despite being at a severe advantage in terms of firepower, fought back against them with strategies alone.
The Gremory Peerage were the favorites in winning in the first round of the Youth Tournament against the Sitri Peerage without trouble. However, Gasper, the time-stopping Dhampir; Xenovia, the Durandal user; and the Sekiryuutei, Issei fell to Sona and her peerage. It had resulted in them losing some points and lower evaluations, because of their loss. At the same time, however, Sona and her peers received a higher evaluation because of what the team managed to achieve.
"Please take this."
Inside Saji's medical room, he was sitting in the hospital bed and looked on confused about what Sirzechs, the crimson-haired Maou held in front of him. It was a magnificent medal contained in an expensive box, something which was suddenly presented to him.
"U-Umm…This is…?"
Saji looked on shocked about what was laid down in front of him.
It was shocking for him, to be awarded with something even though he was the person who lost inside the Rating Game. He couldn't see himself, who lost against Issei being worthy enough to receive such a thing from the Crimson Maou himself. In the hospital room, Sirzechs, Grayfia, Sona, and even Kazuki stood inside the room, wearing a normal, but proud expression.
"This is something awarded to the person who excelled and fought the most impressively in the Rating Game."
Sirzechs stated, wearing a smile on his face.
"I-I…lost to Hyoudou…. This isn't a situation where I should be receiving this."
Saji couldn't believe those words, his loss against Issei made it impossible for him to accept it.
"That's true. But, consequently, Ise-kun, the Sekiryuutei was defeated. We watched your battle in excitement from the spectators' room. To the extent that even Odin of the Norse Faction praised you," Sirzechs reasoned to him, wearing a gentle smile on his face, and picked up the medal. It was then that he held it up, then soon placed it around Saji's neck himself. "You shouldn't humble yourself. Even a Devil like you can aim for the top. I'm happy that I can see promising young devils of the future. Devote yourself more. I have high expectations of you."
At that comment, Saji teared up from the words heard from Sirzechs himself, who was among the strongest and most important figures in the supernatural. He fought so hard against Issei to show he was serious about aiding in Sona's dream of opening a school, desiring to defeat him and prove it. Saji ended up losing against the person he decided to fight against and that wasn't praise worthy for him. But, here he was being awarded a medal.
"Saji, there aren't many people in our age group who could fight against the Sekiryuutei in their Balance Breaker, all without any protection," Kazuki started, walking forward towards Saji, who remained rested in his bed and smiled. "You might've lost, but that doesn't cancel out the effort that you put into fighting against Nii-san. Both you and Sona-san could believe us when we tell you that there were many more people impressed by your fight in comparison to that of the Gremory Group. There isn't a single person among the Old Devils who could go against the compliments of the Norse Gods and others. And you shouldn't let that stop you."
"…Kazuki."
Saji said under his breath, unable to deny those words.
"Sona's plan in defeating the Sekiryuutei went off without a hitch, because of you. Nii-san was pushed to the limit, because of you. After being defeated and knocked out of the Rating Game, your lines remained and things kept on going until the end. You did so much and acted as the linchpin for Sona's final plan."
At Kazuki's comment, Sona walked up and contributed to the comment.
"Kazuki-kun is correct. I managed to achieve what I wanted in the Rating Game, because of your abilities and how hard you worked, Saji. Please, accept Sirzechs-sama's kindness and look ahead towards the future. …Saji, you've displayed a gallant figure to a lot of people. Because you fought a splendid battle."
Sona stated, looking forward at Saji, wearing a smile and tearing up.
"It's fine no matter how many years or decades it takes. Continue aiming to be a Rating Games teacher."
Sirzechs added, wearing a smile, the same as Grayfia.
"…Yes…. Thank you very much!"
Saji thanked the people standing in the room and nodded his head, with teary eyes.
There were so many people in the room who supported him and wanted him to continue succeeding in life, while he continued looking down on himself. But, that would mean that he'd be taking those feelings for granted, and it wasn't something that he could forgive himself for. So, no matter what happens he'll accept the reward bestowed onto him and continue from there.
"Sona, you've truly found yourself a great servant."
Sirzechs stated as Sona teared up at the amount of respect and honor that Saji was receiving in this instance.
"Yes, I have. I'm truly lucky to have found some wonderful servants who support my dream," Sona stated while wiping her tears away. "And because of that, I'll ensure that I'll succeed in making the dream a reality."
"I don't doubt that. All of the Maou and I, aside from Serafall believe in and have high hopes in the Rating Game school you plan on building in the future. It was surprising to hear such a thing, but the goals and ideals that you chose to follow aren't wrong. There are numerous children, some with talent and potential of their own, which will never be recognized without the proper education. If your school succeeds, then we'll get to see those promising youths reaching their potential."
Sirzechs stated, wearing a kind smile as he placed his hand on Sona's shoulder in a comforting way.
Giving them a single bow and smile, Grayfia found herself following behind Sirzechs, who too left the room with a smile on their faces. This left Sona and Kazuki standing there with Saji, sitting inside the hospital room, thinking of what happened.
"Well, I think that it would be best that Saji is allowed to rest in peace," Sona stated, looking at her pawn with one more proud look. "Saji, again I'm proud of the kind of person you turned out to be. I look forward to what you will be achieving in the future. We'll be leaving to give you some more time to rest."
"Ah, right. But, can I talk to Kazuki for a moment?"
Saji requested, causing Kazuki and Sona to look surprised about that.
"Alright, I'm fine with that."
Kazuki stated, having no issue in sitting in the room to talk to Saji. Seeing as the conversation would be far more private, Sona left the room without remaining to see what was going on.
After Sona left, Kazuki and Saji were left alone in the hospital room, with the former finding himself asleep close to the bed. It must have been at least a short couple of minutes until the patient began speaking about whatever was on his mind.
"You know, there was a time when I didn't like you."
"Yeah, I tend to get that response a lot."
"In school, you were always the person that everyone was talking about, students and teachers. It was almost as bad as Kiba, but that was mostly because of his fan girls. I'd always hear that Kazuki Hyoudou, the better half of Hyoudou could do whatever he put his mind to better than everyone else. After becoming Sona Kaichou's Pawn, there almost wasn't a moment where she didn't mention you. It almost as if she had the chance, then you would have joined her peerage too."
Kazuki stood in the same position while looking forward as Saji continued speaking.
"Well, after the Rating Game with Hyoudou, who said those things about you. It made me think that I misjudged you like I did, Kiba."
"Ah, you mean that thing about me being one big crybaby," Kazuki asked, something which almost caused Saji to laugh, but he held it down and nodded. "I'll be having a talk with him after mentioning that in front of an audience. I'd threaten to do the same thing to him, but his reputation is already ruined after this and the last Rating Game with Riser. But, he wasn't wrong, before I couldn't do anything straining, let alone play outside for long without getting exhausted. It couldn't be helped, I was born with a body weaker than Nii-san. But, then I began training to make myself stronger and stronger after Iri-chan left. I was weak, but I didn't want to stay weak. Doing that would have made Kaa-san feel responsible and worry her."
Hearing Kazuki's response, Saji almost felt like laughing to himself in that instance. There he was sitting next to the person that he was jealous of the entire time. But, then as Issei said, he was training much harder than any of them before either became Devils in the first place. His strength wasn't blessed, instead, it was something that he gained from constant effort.
"Hah, I guess that's it huh? I can't hate you anymore after hearing that. I don't think that I felt something like this. I can't hate Hyoudou, Kiba, or you anymore," Saji pointed out, feeling as if he made three good male friends among their age group that he could respect. "Hah, after this Rating Game, it feels as if there are some times that I'll need to be working on in the future."
"Yeah, but you could consider this loss a learning experience. Both winning and losing are important parts of becoming stronger as a person. Everyone in this group experienced that several times before. Also, you have the Sacred Gear enthusiast on our side who is the ultimate expert regarding them. Besides, no matter how weak a Sacred Gear might seem to most, he made it a point to say that they grow based on desire. You managed to fight against Nii-san in Balance Breaker using yours."
"You're right. However, Hyoudou was restrained because of the Rating Game rules. Next time, I want to have a head-on fight against him later."
"Well, then you'll need some training for that next fight."
"Yeah."
Saji laughed nervously at that comment and found himself scratching his head.
There was another wave of silence between the two of them, while there seemed to be another thing on his mind aside from that.
"You know, this Rating Game made me come to realize what I wanted in life. I said some things to Hyoudou that I never thought that I'd say under normal circumstances. The thing that I wanted to be most is a teacher who can teach those younger than me to become whatever they want to be in life," Saji started saying. "I mean, I do want to find a girlfriend at some point. But, it's not as if I'm not the same as Hyoudou when it comes to things like that. And because I'm saying that. I'll be leaving Kaichou to you."
"Eh?"
Kazuki looked surprised by those words from Saji, almost to the point of shutting down for the moment. Primarily, as a result of Saji being in love with Sona.
"After that fight with Hyoudou, I realized that I appreciated everything that Kaichou did for me when I needed the help the most. So, I thought that falling in love and being that person she could rely on was my way of repaying her in the end. But, I might not be the person who could do something like that for Kaichou. And I came to realize the thing that I wanted to do most for her, which is making her dream come true. But, there's only one person who's capable of making her happy outside of that."
Hearing Saji's mature and true feelings on the matter, Kazuki couldn't help finding himself impressed, while there was a smile gracing his face. At that, he stood up from his seat beside Saji's bed and held out his hand, wearing a genuine smile on his face. Kazuki couldn't deny the fact that there were some other feelings between himself and Sona, more because he'd unintentionally heard her feelings on the matter.
"Sure thing. I got it."
"You'd better. I'm still her Pawn."
Smiling to himself at Kazuki's honest response, both high-fived with that comment leaving their mind and coming to an understanding with one another. Seeing as their business with one another was completed, finding more of a compromise with each other, Kazuki decided to leave the room.
Outside, he found himself walking through the hospital, where there were most members of Sona's peerage being watched over by doctors, because of injuries. Among Rias' peerage, Gasper, Xenovia, and Issei were the ones held here too, all three of them ended up being taken out in the most drastic manners. He could sense that Issei was moving around somewhat; having felt him outside of Saji's hospital room, though it wasn't much considering the amount of blood he lost.
He couldn't see Sona around, reasoning that she was checking up on the other members of her peerage, kept in the hospital. In that instance, he felt a familiar presence, but it wasn't from someone that he knew all that well. As Kazuki sensed their approach, he turned to find Rossweisse walking in the same direction as him.
"Ah, hello, Kazuki-san."
"It's good to see you, Rossweisse-san."
Having greeted one another, as before, the silver-haired Valkyrie stood there in her combat attire, giving him a kind wave and smile. However, it did beg the question as to the reason that Rossweisse was inside the medical facility in the first place.
"So, is there a particular reason that you're in the medical facility right now?"
Kazuki casually asked, while smiling.
"Ah, well…."
In response to this, Rossweisse found herself looking a bit conflicted and nervous while glancing over toward the side and smiling nervously. In that instance, it didn't take that long for him to realize the reason Rossweisse was on this side of the building without Odin.
"Odin-sama ran off, didn't he?"
"Y-Yes, he did."
Rossweisse honestly, but nervously replied.
"He does that a lot, doesn't he?"
Realizing Odin's personality outside being a leader, it didn't take him long to realize that the Chief God would be the type to run off as he pleases. Having someone younger than herself and almost inexperienced in meeting the people of other factions realize that made Rossweisse almost depressed.
"…yes."
Again, Rossweisse honestly, but weakly replied.
"You don't need to sound so depressed. I guess that dealing with someone who leaves without telling you in the first place might be rough. I can understand something like that being stressful, but it speaks volumes about you being chosen as the Chief God's bodyguard."
Kazuki stated, while complimented Rossweisse at the same time.
Hearing such praise from someone caused a new feeling in Rossweisse's chest because she hadn't received a lot of praise from most. She did work harder than most to get into the position where she was now but to hear it from someone like Kazuki, the Hakuryuukou was something incredible.
"Thanks for the compliment. But, it won't matter if I can't a handle on Odin-sama, this wouldn't be the first time he has done something like this."
"Well, if I had to guess, because of his interest in Saji, he might be heading there. But, he hasn't passed by yet," Kazuki tried reasoning. "So, among the people that Odin-sama might be appearing in front of, then that would be Nii-san and Rias. If you're looking for them, they're in that direction."
Having heard a surprisingly rational deduction from Kazuki, Rossweisse was surprised about hearing such things from someone without much experience in their world based on rumors. At the same time, she couldn't help finding herself impressed. Taking the advice from Kazuki, Rossweisse decided to head over in that direction to find out whether or not Odin was there. Before that, she turned around to face Kazuki wearing an appreciative smile on her face, and then held out her hand.
"Here, I'd like to give you this to show my appreciation," Rossweisse stated, retrieving a book from another space and presenting it to Kazuki. "This is a pretty basic magic book, but it has some details about the magic from our faction in it for beginners. I'm sure that it'll be of great use to you."
"Oh, wow. Thanks. I'm sure that this will be a great asset for me."
Kazuki appreciated the gesture of kindness, taking the basic magic book in his hands without hesitation. He can see the value in such things, having learned a great deal of magic from the book that Azazel compiled for him. It was a known fact that the Norse Faction's magic was the most advanced in the supernatural world. So, basic or not, this might be better than what he learned thus far.
"I hope that it'll be."
Giving Kazuki one final bow, Rossweisse proceeded to head in the direction that he pointed out as one of Odin's potential destinations. Seeing as the Valkyrie left him with the book, something which had some runic inscriptions on the front cover, he decided to read a couple of pages. Holding it in his hands, Kazuki found himself reading the contents of the Norse magic book in his current possession.
After things were finished, the groups involved in the Rating Game returned to their respective residences or the temporary ones. For Kazuki, who together with Asia, Mariah, and Raynare which would be the Sitri Castle, where the four were taking residence at. Returning, Sona and the peerage were met with a dinner prepared for them, in celebration of Saji's award and gaining attention, something which surprised them. Of course, Serafall ended up being the loudest of the group, almost ignoring other responsibilities to be there.
It wasn't that big of a celebration, something that Sona could appreciate, but it had everything that she wanted for the peerage who fought for her during the first round. It lasted until it started reaching closer into the night, with a lot of Sona's peers wanting to rest after today's events. So, after having a relaxing bath, the members found themselves heading to bed.
At night, Kazuki found himself sitting in a reading area outside, still reading the magic book that he received from Rossweisse in silence. Asia wasn't alone in this instance as she found herself sleeping in the same room as Raynare, who seemed to be reeling from the emotional trauma caused by Cadre's training. Although, that did make him feel a bit lonely, seeing as he couldn't imagine a time when he wasn't sharing a bed with Asia.
"Hm, it might be a basic book, but it does give a lot of magic ideas of the things related to Norse Magic."
Kazuki said under his breath while reading from the magic book page-by-page, without missing a single letter in all that was written in it. Since the summer break, he was still in the process of creating an original ability, being handed a hint from training with Vasco Strada and Tiamat. The same could be said about reading from the book in his hands right now.
"Ah, I didn't think that someone else would be up."
A familiar voice caught his attention.
Kazuki looked up from the magic book to find Sona, dressed in a blue nightgown and holding what looked to be a book in her hands too. It looked as is the Sitri heiress shared a similar idea of a late-night reading session too, he didn't know what the book in her hands was though. It seemed to have been a book of old strategies, which were used in the Rating Games.
"I guess that both of us couldn't go to sleep without getting in one final book," Kazuki stated, holding the magic book in his hands, something that made Sona smile.
"Yes, it seems so. It looks as if that's the book on Norse Magic from Rossweisse-san. I remember reading books like these when I was in middle school," Sona stated, taking a seat beside Kazuki as the two held onto the book in their hands. "Since the founding of the Rating Games, there have been always books written about the various strategies used by famous players. At night, this spot has become my favorite reading place."
"So, does that mean I should leave?"
Kazuki asked, but from the tone, it sounded almost playful.
"No, that's fine. I don't mind you being here," Sona replied, wearing a faint smile. "It wouldn't be the first time that we found ourselves reading books together."
"I think that would be the second time we met in the library when we ended up sitting in the same spot to read all the books we picked out. It might just be that we have similar tastes when it comes to finding reading spots that we happen to like."
"So it seems."
Both of them kept having that little back-and-forth with one another about their particular reading places; seeming to come to terms with the fact that there's so much that the two have in common with one another. Of course, it's something that the two seemed to find comforting while being in one another's presence. It was one of the things that made it easier for either of them to confide in the other about almost anything.
"Uh, Kazuki-kun."
"Yes?"
After Sona called out to him, Kazuki turned his attention toward her more and could see the nervousness right on her face. As the two shared similar intellect and could keen on things that most people couldn't, it didn't take him all that long to realize what it might be about.
"Well, you see. I'm sure that you were watching our match against Rias," Sona started sounding nervous right at that moment, something which Kazuki found adorable. As she continued speaking, her cheeks started to turn a red color. "A-And, I'm sure that you might have heard Hyoudou-kun's comment, which might have been related to something about my feelings for you."
It didn't cease there as Sona's face seemed as if it would continue to turn a deeper shade of red as she spoke. It's been an abrupt invasion of privacy sparked by Issei's new technique.
"Ah, yeah. I heard that," Kazuki stated, causing Sona's expression to turn more flustered. "Also, I thought that I'd have to tell you this. But, after Nii-san used that new perverted technique, I could hear what he was hearing. Due to Albion, I guess that it was because Nii-san took in one of Divine Dividing's gems. So, I'm guessing that it made a deeper link between us."
"S-So, you would've heard it anyway."
Sona found herself flustered about that being an inevitability, no matter how it turned out.
"Um, Sona, if you want to talk about it, then I wouldn't mind."
Despite sounding calm about the situation, Kazuki couldn't help feeling nervous and flustered considering that he was asking such a thing. Of course, Sona was the most nervous considering that she wasn't used to such a thing, being more of an intellect uncomfortable with open signs of affection. At that kind offer from Kazuki, Sona seemed to be fiddling with the book in her hands.
"Hm, well, I…. …the thing is…. …I…," Sona mumbled to herself, almost unable to find the correct words to even begin describing her feelings in that instance. Her face felt as if it was on fire, while her cheeks started turning far redder. "…ugh, this is harder than I thought…."
"I know, just start wherever you feel comfortable."
At that, Sona felt a comforting hand being placed on top of her shaking hand, which held tightly on the book. And in that instance, she started feeling as if she was becoming more comfortable speaking about it.
"The second time that we met in the library, I thought that I could have a reading partner outside of the people I'd known outside of Rias and my peerage. It almost felt as if I had my person that I could share a conversation with, without mentioning the supernatural. It went from talking about books to talking about school, to everyday activities, and whatever I could without mention of the world I was born into," Sona started, thinking about the first interactions between them. "Then you found out about the supernatural world, and I almost thought that you wouldn't want to be my reading partner if I told you. But, then nothing changed between us and I was happy. You even became one of the few people who would play chess with me, even Rias gave up."
Sona talked, thinking about the time that she thought about telling Kazuki about her side of the supernatural and the fact that he believed in the opposite side. She didn't want to admit that a deep sense of relief washed over her after that didn't happen. Instead of treating her differently, Kazuki treated her the same and even started to avoid things that might make Sona feel uncomfortable.
"Since then, it started feeling as if we should talk more about anything, and you became more interested, hearing about the things that I knew. You picked up on the lessons and stories quicker than most would, taking all of the things that I said to heart," Sona stated, finding herself wearing a gentler smile. "And then the time came when you decided to step into the supernatural, choosing to become the Hakuryuukou of your own volition. Despite the hard work and the potential of your life being in danger, you kept fighting without hesitation. You were barely a part of the supernatural for a month, but you achieved more than anyone thought possible. You protected Asia-san despite the odds against you and beat a strong Fallen Angel. You made your debut in the Underworld, defeating Yubelluna, an experienced Queen. And defeated one of the strongest Fallen Angels in Grigori, gaining Balance Breaker from it."
As Sona went through the events, most of them were things that she witnessed firsthand, most notably, the Kokabiel Incident. Sona while working on maintaining the barrier surrounding Kuoh Academy was one of the witnesses to Kazuki's battle. It made her feel good in her chest, seeing the person that became one of her most important confidants, achieving something as amazing as that.
"It made me feel a great deal of pride in seeing someone who became a dear friend of mine and partner when it comes to things I can't share with others. Then the more I thought about those things, the more my heart felt as if it would beat faster and feel warmer," Sona stated, putting a hand on her chest, as her heart started to beat much faster. In noticing the difference between herself and Kazuki, Sona found herself moving a bit closer to him until the two were close enough for a hug. "As embarrassing as it might sound, I couldn't sleep, because there were a lot of thoughts running through my head. And I couldn't fall asleep until I heard your voice."
"There isn't anything wrong with that."
"Even if you said that, I can't help but feel embarrassed and uncomfortable about it."
Sona stated, covering her reddened face using her hands.
"Does this make it better?"
"Huh?"
At Kazuki's question, Sona looked confused about what he meant about that. But, then she received an answer, as she felt a comforting arm wrap around her shoulder. She was then gently pulled much closer to Kazuki, feeling the warmness that he gave off. Of course, Sona felt as if her heart would burst from how it was moving in that instant. Her face turned redder compared to what it was before, while her mind raced with numerous kinds of thoughts without hesitation.
But—
As Sona found herself inside Kazuki's grasp, her heart and mind began calming down until it was as clear as a lake without the slightest vibration. Sona didn't need to think, or analyze, and didn't need to be flustered anymore. Instead, she simply relished in the moment, where she found herself wrapped in the arm of the person who had managed to become the first man she ever fell in love with.
"I told myself that I wouldn't be engaged with anyone who wasn't smarter than I was. I even turned down the man chosen for me after he lost in a game of chess with me. I think that it happened before meeting Kazuki-kun at that time. He is smart and has been improving in the games that we've been playing since the first time that we met," Sona thought as she found herself nuzzling closer to Kazuki without hesitation. "If we played a couple of more times, I don't doubt that he might beat me. But, that doesn't matter to me now. He could be smarter than me. Or dumber than me. As long as he doesn't change the kind of person he is, I don't care about anything else."
For the first time in this moment, Sona felt the calmest that she'd ever been before, and the happiest that she'd ever been. And for Kazuki to see something like that from the usually stoic, but kind Sitri heiress caused him to feel a warm feeling in his chest. It reached the point where he extended his hand over towards Sona's cheek and gently brushed it. Both of them remained in that same position without either moving an inch, finding themselves almost wanting to remain there the entire night.
"Hey, Kazuki-kun, does this mean that we're…together?"
"Hm, yes."
"Before I didn't feel comfortable draining the dragon power from you before, but I don't mind it this time," Sona in a cute tone told Kazuki, while looking a bit bashful. "So, can we do something that couples do?"
"Alright."
Kazuki agreed without hesitation, in a confident tone as he and Sona ended up locking eyes with one another. A second later, the two moved closer to one another, to the point where their lips connected. It was a sweet moment between them, both of them feeling the sensation of warmth. Stepping back from one another, a passionate look could be seen in their eyes.
In Sona's bedroom, Kazuki and Sona found themselves sitting down on the bed, with the man sitting right behind the woman. She felt her face and body begin heating up, while she was being touched by Kazuki, who'd looked over her shoulder. A heated breath escaped from Sona's mouth, as she felt her new boyfriend's warm hands that moved around her upper and lower body.
"Hah, K-Kazuki-kun, I'm sorry…my breasts aren't that…."
"Do you think that I care about that?"
Kazuki asked, causing Sona to moan as she felt him kissing up and down her neck, something which resulted in what felt like electricity passing throughout her body. As if to signify that, he found himself moving his hands right to Sona's breasts, which were much smaller in comparison to someone like Rias or Asia, but it wasn't to the point where they weren't noticeable.
"Ah, uh."
Sona moaned as she felt Kazuki's hands touching and pressing up against her smaller breasts, massaging their small mounds. His fingers touched the heiress' nipples that had begun erect from the physical contact, and then gently pinched them. Sona was experiencing shivers from the loving contact, something which she hadn't felt that much before. Of course, she would often hear about such things from either Rias or Akeno, both of them weren't the type to hide their affection for Issei.
However, it was ironic that she was the first to experience such things on the receiving end rather than being the person who was on the giving end. However, the greatest sense came from those who didn't want her there, considering the disaster that might have come about. "But, I hope the Hakuryuukou-chan doesn't mistreat my So-tan. I want her to be the happiest that she's ever been. But, that does not mean that I've accepted him! It just means that I've given him a temporary time to prove himself."

Lord Sitri stated but was met with an unhappy tone from his oldest daughter.

And I was impressed about what I heard," Lord Sitri started, then recalled the interactions between Sona and Kazuki. "I was surprised to see how different Sona looks whenever she's around you, which is different from the times that she was with Rias as children. It might sound odd coming from the clan head. But, as a father, I'm glad that Sona found someone like that in her life."
A fatherly smile could be seen on Lord Sitri's face, not the fact that he was glad that Sona could appear a lot freer around him.
"I wouldn't mind you returning whenever you have some free time. I know that things will be getting harder once the summer break ends with the potential incidents of the Khaos Brigade. But, I wouldn't mind sharing a cup of tea and talking with you," Lady Sitri started, then made a teasing smile no different from Serafall. "If possible, I'd be more inclined to share some of Sona's embarrassing childhood secrets."

Sona for the first time seemed to have reacted at the thought of something like that happening, something which seemed to have invigorated Lady Sitri's teasing motherly side. Lady Sitri replied, wearing a gentle smile.

Kazuki stated, turning his attention towards Lucina who looked surprised but maintained a calm look.
"Then, I hope that I'll continue to make a tea that you'll find delicious, Kazuki-sama," Lucina replied in a tone that wouldn't be surprising to resemble Grayfia's professional tone, while also bowing. But, on the inside, Lucina was jumping around as the utmost happiness filled her chest. "Hooray, Kazu-sama loved the tea that I brewed! Haha, I'm the happiest maid in the Underworld! I hope that the next time that I can spend with him will be the greatest pleasure in my life.
After saying their final farewells to the people in front of them, all the people leaving the Underworld boarded the train. There, the people who'd boarded it felt an assortment of feelings and emotions about this summer, most of them being about their personal experiences. Most of them like those among Kazuki's group thought about their training with several powerful people. It could've been thought that Kazuki would've had the worst experience as he trained with two, who are called "the strongest" among their particular groups.
However, Raynare seemed to have been affected the most, having trained under each of the remaining cadres of Grigori. Most of their training sessions could have been called actual torture, to the point where she found herself on an actual experimentation table and underwent body modification surgery. Of course, there wasn't one idea of what that would end up leading to in terms of Raynare's development down the line.
Those from the Sitri Group found themselves thinking about their training and what they managed to do against the Gremory Group during the first round. Despite losing against the team favorite to win, there were a lot of them who received some praise despite losing. Their Pawn, Saji even received a medal as the one who'd showed off the most, even aiding in bringing down the Sekiryuutei. Of course, there would still be some things that their peerage would need to work on if they wanted to bring the results they desired.
Sona managed to get out her built-up feelings for Kazuki and ended up getting some precious and then simply earning attention in the first round of the Youth Tournament.
Once the train ended up in the station in the Human World, those who had traveled back through the Sitri Clan's channel found themselves back in their town. It has been an entire summer since either of them have been back in Kuoh Town, with returning there being the greatest feeling in their heart.

As Kazuki said that, he stopped as soon as he sensed someone else's presence approaching them and turned to face the person coming there.
Turning there, among them Sona looked the most surprised, having recognized the young man who was in front of them. A blonde-haired young man close to their age, with a delicate face and dressed in noble attire. He stood there with a smile on his face, but there was something about it that didn't feel right to Kazuki.
"Asia Argento…. We finally meet."
"U-Umm…"
Despite him seeming to know Asia, it didn't look as if she was aware of the young man's identity at all, while that expression could be shown on her face.
"Diodora Astaroth, what're you doing here?"
Sona seemed confused about the young man, now named Diodora being there in the first place. To her, it was a completely odd situation, considering that this was the station leading from the Sitri Territory back to the Human World. So, it meant that he was aware that Asia was there in the first place, despite her not being a reincarnated Devil, let apart of anyone's peerage. It seemed as if Kazuki thought about the same thing, seeing as it wasn't known a fact that Asia was a part of his group.
"Oh, Sona, I simply came here to greet someone from my past," Diodora stated, then found himself looking back to Asia, who looked uncomfortable about the situation. She didn't know the young man in front of her, but it looked as if he was well aware of her. "…So you've forgotten me. We should have met that time."
In that instance, Diodora began removing the chest portion of his shirt, unveiling a deeper scar that was situated right on his chest. Noticing the scar, Asia seemed to have been aware of who the young man in front of her was which caused her to gasp.
"That wound, could it be…."
"Yes, my face couldn't be seen back then, but I am the devil from that time."
"…."
Having that realization coming out, surprised Asia and those around her, who were well aware of what led to her being banished from the church. It was because she was caught healing a Devil using her Sacred Gear, and it led to the various things that led her to Kuoh Town. And right here, the person that she healed was right there in front of her like this. There were some people, like Kazuki, Sona, and Mariah, who weren't buying this 'chance' meeting in the slightest. It seemed as if he was ignoring the entire situation right now, instead continuing with whatever he intended.
"My name is Diodora Astaroth. That time you weren't able to treat me, to the point where a scar wouldn't remain, but my life was saved due to your Sacred Gear," Not caring about the fact that Asia was standing beside Kazuki, he approached her and appeared to reach out for her hand. Noticing that, she stopped back and Kazuki blocked his path using his arm. But, even that didn't seem to stop Diodora."Asia, I came to meet you. I apologize that I couldn't greet you before. But, I think the encounter between you and I was destiny. I want you to be my wife. I love you."
Diodora proposes to Asia without caring about the fact that she stands beside Kazuki, resulting in animosity building up within his chest.
"Who does that guy think he is?! He'd proposed to Asia-chan right in front of Kazuki-kun, completely disregarding everything that we were saying!"
Those were the words that Raynare shouted out loud as she entered their residence, feeling irritated a person came out of nowhere to propose to Asia. Entering the home were the people who'd lived there, with those who hadn't returned to their residences.
"I must admit I'm confused too. It was added that he waited here instead of coming to visit Asia himself."
Mariah admitted walking in alongside them.
"I share the same opinion, Mariah-san. To be honest, I don't know that much about Diodora, but I never would've expected that something like this would happen."
Sona added, stepping inside the house.
"Well, Asia rejected him, but I doubt that it'll end there," Kazuki pointed out, as he could feel Asia grabbing onto his hand. "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I was just surprised to find that person here. I'm glad that he managed to leave there just fine."
Asia replied, wearing a smile on her face, but he could see that she was a little surprised and shaken about their unforeseen encounter.
"Oh, did something happen?"
There group was surprised to find there was another voice in the living room, then turned around to find Gabriel there wearing a gentle smile.
"Gabriel-san? I didn't think that you'd be there."
Kazuki couldn't hide his surprise, not expecting that one of the Seraph would be here waiting for them.
"Oh, I heard that your group would be returning from the Underworld. And so, I wanted to be here to greet you all here," Gabriel informed, then found herself standing up from her seat and approaching them, but stopped right in front of Kazuki with a smile. "I can tell that you became stronger from your training with His Eminence Strada and Tiamat. I heard that he quite enjoyed training you."
"Yeah, I appreciate the fact that he took the time to train me."
"And I'm so happy that he'd agreed to train you," Gabriel stated, clapping her hands together, while a brilliant smile could be seen on her face. "Oh, there is something that I wanted to inform you about. So, if it wouldn't be a problem, could we talk about it over some tea."
"Sure thing, I don't mind. And I'm sure the others wouldn't mind either, right," Kazuki turned around to find that no one had trouble with Gabriel's presence. "We planned on having something to eat anyone. So, extra company wouldn't be an issue for us."
"That's wonderful. And I'm so excited to talk to you about this."
Gabriel said excited about whatever she planned on telling them.
From there, those returning home found themselves getting situated, almost in an attempt to get what happened moments ago out of their minds. Most of them were looking forward to whatever the Seraph wanted for their group, it would have a great effect on some of them.
A/N: And there goes the next chapter of The Twin Dragons, it was the aftermath of the Youth Tournament's first round between Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri. There was, of course, nothing that different compared to the original one. But, during the awarding of the medal to Saji, there was a personal moment between himself and Kazuki, where he let go of his 'feelings' for Sona for her happiness. He and Rossweisse had a small moment together, with the Valkyrie giving him a magic book for Norse Magic. At the Sitri Castle, there was a small celebration for the Sitri Peerage, with Sona and Kazuki having a big moment. Three of the women who've shared the closest and longest relationship with Kazuki: Irina, Asia, and Sona shared that special moment with Kazuki.
Well, it was the final chapter of this volume and the last days of summer, leading into the new semester at Kuoh Academy. Of course, it ended with one of the biggest and sickest antagonists coming out in the end, Diodora Astaroth. At least, we have the pleasure of ending the chapter with Gabriel, who has some important news to tell them.
