Welcome to Alola
In Kahuna Hala's house, Lincoln was sitting on one of the couches inside with his hands on the sides of his head in disbelief over what just happened to him.
"I can't believe Luan would mail me to a foreign country I've never even heard of." said Lincoln. "Luan has done a lot of over-the-top pranks on April Fools' Day before, but this has got to be a new level of extreme, even for her." He suddenly felt someone tap his shoulders, making him turn to see Kahuna Hala, holding out a cup that looked like a pineapple with the top of it sliced off, with a straw sticking out of it.
"Here's some Pinap Juice." said Kahuna Hala. "You must be thirsty after being in that box for almost a whole day." Realizing that he was right, Lincoln grabs the cup, and starts drinking out of it. Soon, Hau comes out of the kitchen with a tray that had a large variety of tropical fruits on it.
"You must be hungry, too." said Hau. After Lincoln finishes the Pinap Juice, he quickly devours the food.
"Slow down, young man." said Kahuna Hala. "You don't want to choke." Lincoln then eats at a more subdued pace until he finished the food.
"Thank you." said Lincoln. As Hau brought the plate and cup back to the kitchen, Kahuna Hala decides to talk to Lincoln.
"So, where are you from, young man?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"Royal Woods, Michigan." said Lincoln.
"I never heard of it." said Kahuna Hala.
"I've never heard of the Alola Region, myself." said Lincoln.
"We should try to get in contact with your family, so they at least know where you are and that you're okay." suggested Kahuna Hala.
"I'll call them on my phone." said Lincoln. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his device; he saw that the screen was completely cracked. "Dang it; my phone must've broken during the trip here. Would it have been too much trouble for Luan to label 'fragile' on the box, even though I think she purposely didn't do that?"
"How is that sister of yours not grounded for all this stuff she does?" asked Hau.
"Good question." replied Lincoln as he takes deep breaths. Kahuna Hala puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Calm down, uh, you know, we never got your name." said Kahuna Hala.
"Oh, I'm sorry. My name's Lincoln Loud." said Lincoln.
"I am Kahuna Hala." said Kahuna Hala. He then points at Hau. "This is my grandson, Hau. Perhaps you should go for a walk to clear your mind. Hau, would you go with him?"
"Sure, grandfather." said Hau. Lincoln begins fidgeting.
"Can I use the bathroom first? There wasn't exactly one in that box." said Lincoln.
"Oh, certainly, Lincoln." said Kahuna Hala. "It's over there." He points at a doorway. Lincoln quickly walks through the doorway and shuts the door. Minutes later, Lincoln walks out of the bathroom with a relieved look on his face.
"That's better." said Lincoln.
"Whoa, Lincoln." said Hau. "How were you able to hold it in for so long?"
"Mostly because I've been unconscious the whole time." said Lincoln. "And living with a big family in a house that only has one bathroom, lines are usually pretty long, making me develop techniques to help me do so for long periods of time."
"How big is your family?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"I have a mom, a dad, and TEN SISTERS!" said Lincoln. Kahuna Hala, and Hau look at Lincoln with shock.
"That's a lot of people!" said Hau.
"How can two adults have that many kids?" asked Kahuna Hala.
"I don't know." said Lincoln.
"Anyway; let's go, Lincoln." said Hau. He and Lincoln walk out of Kahuna Hala's home. Lincoln breathes in some fresh air.
"Wow, the air smells so fresh here." said Lincoln. He looks around, and sees he was in a small town with several houses in it, along with a large stage at the center of it, and surrounded by tropical jungles.
"Welcome to Iki Town." said Hau. As he and Lincoln walk through the town, Lincoln notices a palm tree in the middle of a path.
"Why's that tree there?" asked Lincoln. Suddenly, the 'palm tree' starts to turn around, surprising Lincoln. "Whoa; is that tree moving?!"
"That's not a tree, Lincoln." said Hau. When Lincoln got a closer look at it after it turned completely around, he notices that at the top of it, near the bottom of the leaf fronds, were three, yellow, coconut-shaped heads. As Lincoln checked it out further, he sees that it has a tail with another head at the end of it.
"What is that?!" asked Lincoln.
"That's an Exeggutor; a Pokemon that's found here in the Alola Region." said Hau.
"Pokemon?" replied Lincoln.
"Oh, that's right." said Hau. "You don't have Pokemon where you're from. You see, Pokemon are these incredible creatures that only exist in a select number of regions. There are so many different species and types of them." Lincoln could only look with disbelief at what he just heard.
"What other kinds of Pokemon are there and are they friendly?" asked Lincoln.
"There are so many different kinds of Pokemon it would take a long time to name them, and lots of Pokemon get along just fine with humans." said Hau. "But some that live in the wild tend to attack if startled enough."
"Then, I'll make sure to be careful." said Lincoln. As Hau was continuing to show Lincoln around Iki Town, what Lincoln didn't know was that in some nearby trees, a Pokemon with a thin, black, upper body; orange lower body resembling tail feathers, white marking on its face, along with a large, orange plumage that on its head that stretches down its back, and arm guards that look like halves of a bird head-shaped mask, was watching Lincoln move through town.
After twenty minutes, Lincoln and Hau return to Kahuna Hala's house.
"Grandfather, we're back." said Hau.
"Alola, you two." said Kahuna Hala. "How was your tour of Iki Town, Lincoln."
"I saw some... intersting stuff." said Lincoln.
"He saw his first Pokemon." said Hau.
"Oh, that's right." said Kahuna Hala. "You don't have Pokemon in America." He then looks at Lincoln's clothing, and sees it look a little roughed-up, partly from the trip in the box, and partly because of living in a chaotic household. "Perhaps you should get some new clothes for yourself, Lincoln." Lincoln looks at his outfit, and sees the condition it was in.
"I guess a new outfit wouldn't hurt." said Lincoln. He then reaches into his back pocket and pulls out thirty dollars. "Is American money good here?"
"No, but there's a place in town that exchanges foreign currency for pokedollars." said Kahuna Hala.
"Is that what the money here is called?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes." said Kahuna Hala. "Hau, could you escort Lincoln to Hau'oli City, and show Lincoln where the place is, then bring him to a clothing store to get him some new clothes?"
"Sure, Grandfather." said Hau. He and Lincoln then exit the house and start going down a road south of Iki Town. As they walked, Lincoln observed all the different kinds of Pokemon that were there with growing interest. After a couple minutes of walking, they arrived at Hau'oli City. As they walked, Lincoln looks around, admiring the beachside city. He also sees other different Pokemon swimming around in the water, such as a pink, heart-shaped one (Luvdisc), a stout, pink one that looked like it had coral growing out of parts of its body (Corsola), and a red, fishlike Pokemon (Magikarp).
Minutes later, Lincoln and Hau walked out of a building with Lincoln holding a wad of what appeared to be cash. "Wow, Lincoln. Who would've guessed thirty American dollars would be worth twenty-five thousand pokedollars?" asked Hau.
"Not me, that's for sure." said Lincoln.
"Come on, I know where there's a clothing store here." said Hau. He leads Lincoln to a store, and they walk inside. Several minutes later, the two boys walk out of the store. Lincoln was now wearing an orange tank top, beige capri pants, a blue backpack, but still wore his regular shoes. He looks inside a shopping bag he was holding; inside was a pair of orange swim trunks, an orange beach towel with some sort of white symbol on it (pokeball symbol), and a pair of sunglasses. Lincoln figured if he was going to be in a tropical paradise, he might as well enjoy it.
Truth be told, he never had a relaxing vacation; like all those times at the Scratchy Bottom Campground, especially last time there where he was treated like a servant by his sisters due to being unable to be the deciding vote on whether to go to Dairyland or Aloha Beach, or at Grand Venture State Park where he was afraid to enjoy himself due to Lucy predicting that he will meet with disaster with her fortune telling, and let's not forget the bad luck incident where Lincoln had to stand around Aloha Beach while wearing a squirrel costume in the hot sun, due to his family believing that it will contain his 'bad luck'.
"Looking good, Lincoln." said Hau.
"Thanks, Hau." said Lincoln. As they head back towards Iki Town, Lincoln notices a large facility with four round buildings of various sizes, straw roofs, and open balcony areas with large slides on them, that were connected to each other. Near it was another large building across a small river with multiple bridges leading to it, and also a gazebo next it to, plus what looked like a racetrack. Hau noticed that Lincoln stopped and saw what he was looking at.
"That's the Alola Pokemon School." said Hau.
"Pokemon School?" replied Lincoln.
"It's where kids go to learn everything they can about Pokemon." explained Hau. As Lincoln looks at the school, he notices a girl with tan skin, green hair that was kept in twintails, and had a pink flower in it, wearing gray short overalls over a pink tank top, and green and white shoes. The girl notices Lincoln looking at her, then smiles and waves, making Lincoln smile and blush, then wave back. As Lincoln and Hau continue towards Iki Town, Lincoln was deep in thought.
'This place is so awesome.' Lincoln thinks to himself. 'And these Pokemon seem so cool. Maybe I should take the time to enjoy myself, I could definitely use a break from the chaos at home, especially Luan.'
"Something on your mind, Lincoln?" asked Hau.
"Just thinking about what I've seen here so far, and maybe I'll stick around for a while." said Lincoln.
"Are you interested in Pokemon?" asked Hau before a smirk forms on his face. "Or that cute girl you saw at the Pokemon School?"
"Pokemon! Definitely Pokemon!" Lincoln quickly said with a blush on his face. "Maybe I'll give some thought to attending that Pokemon School also; it could be a great way to learn more about them."
"We can talk to my grandfather and see what he thinks." suggested Hau.
"That would be so cool." said Lincoln. With that, Lincoln and Hau continue on to Iki Town.
End of Chapter 2
Authors' Note: The 'Which Alolan starter should Lincoln get?' poll will end Friday night, 9/22/23. On a related topic, we're thinking that if Lincoln gets a Litten, it'll be a shiny one, due to its fur being mostly the same color as Lincoln's hair.
