Brooklet Hill Trial
After everyone had lunch at the Paniola Ranch, they all thank Siwa for providing them with it and head onto Route 5 to continue on their way to Brooklet Hill.
On the way, Lincoln took some time to have his Rockruff battle a few Miltanks that weren't on Kiawe's family's property to capture and send to Liam. During those battles, Rockruff learned Rock Tomb.
The group soon reaches a Pokemon Center and decide to stop in so Lincoln can get his Pokemon treated, as well as send the three Miltanks he caught to the Loud house.
"So, who's the Trial Captain of Brooklet Hill?" asked Lincoln.
"That would be me." said Alola Lana, surprising him.
"Really?" replied Lincoln.
"I may be a student at the Pokemon School, but I am also a Trial Captain." said Alola Lana.
"What can you tell me about the trial?" asked Lincoln.
"I'll tell you once we reach the top of the hill." said Alola Lana. Once Lincoln got his Pokemon back, he and his friends exit the Pokemon Center and continued going down the road until they finally reached the bottom of a large hill.
"Is this the place?" asked Mallow.
"This is it." said Alola Lana. "Only me and Lincoln can go up there."
"Okay; do your best, Lincoln." said Lillie.
"We'll be with you in spirit." said Kiawe.
"Thanks, everyone." said Lincoln. He and Alola Lana start walking up Brooklet Hill so Lincoln can begin his trial. They soon reached a small pond.
"Before you begin your trial, I will register Lapras into your Ride Pager; you'll need it for this trial." said Alola Lana.
"Thanks, Lana." said Lincoln. Alola Lana begins typing into her Ride Pager; a chime was heard from Lincoln's Ride Pager.
"There; Lapras is now registered into your Ride Pager." said Alola Lana. Lincoln uses his Ride Pager and a Lapras appeared in the pond. "Okay, Lincoln; for your trial, you have to herd Wishiwashies downstream until you reach where the Totem Pokemon."
"I don't know what Pokemon that is, but I'm sure I'll know when I meet one." said Lincoln.
"And until you complete the trial, I'm afraid you won't be allowed to capture any Pokemon on Brooklet Hill." said Alola Lana.
"You got it." said Lincoln. He climbs onto Lapras and starts riding it around the pond; splashing suddenly appeared in the pond. Lincoln looks at the splashing and a white and blue, fishlike Pokemon rises to the surface. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Wishiwashi, the Small Fry Pokemon. They're weak, so they move in schools. However, they can also often be seen all alone, having strayed from the school." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone. Lincoln pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Go, Cottonee!" said Lincoln, throwing Cottonee's pokeball and releasing her. "Use Razor Leaf!" Cottonee releases leaves from her body and they hit Wishiwashi, knocking it out. "Great work, Cottonee." The Wishiwashi wakes up and begins swimming downstream. Lincoln returned Cottonee to her pokeball; seeing the stream was too small for Lapras, he rides it to the shore of the pond and climbs off. After returning Lapras to the Ride Pager, Lincoln runs down a path following the stream until he arrived at another pond.
Lincoln calls Lapras with his Ride Pager and climbs aboard it. After looking around the pond, he sees splashing nearby and rode Lapras to where the splashing is taking place; he sees another Wishiwashi. Lincoln throws Cottonee's pokeball and releases her. "All right, Cottonee, use Razor Leaf!" Cottonee launches leaves at Wishiwashi and hits it, dealing super effective damage to it, and knocking it out. Moments later, the Wishiwashi wakes up and swims down another stream.
After returning to shore and returning Lapras to his Ride Pager, Lincoln runs down a path until he reaches a pond larger than the other two. He lets Lapras out of the Ride Pager and climbs onto it; as he rides around the pond, he sees splashing nearby and rides over to it. When he got close, a large, spiderlike Pokemon with a bubble around its head bursts out of the water. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Araquanid, the Water Bubble Pokemon, and the evolved form of Dewpider. It usually passes its time in the water. When its belly is full, it stores its subdued prey in the water bubble on its head." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone. An aura suddenly appeared around the Araquanid.
"This must be the Totem Pokemon." said Lincoln. He pulls out a pokeball. "Araquanid is a bug type, so it'll have the advantage over Cottonee, but not against Rufflet." He throws Rufflet's pokeball and releases him. "Rufflet, use Hone Claw!" Rufflet's talons glowed red, and an orange aura surrounds his body, increasing his attack strength. The Totem Araquanid fires a multicolored beam at Rufflet and hits it, dealing super effective damage to him.
"Rufflet, Wing Attack!" said Lincoln. Rufflet flies towards the Totem Araquanid and strikes it with his wing, dealing super effective damage to it. The Totem Araquanid fires another multicolored beam of energy at him. "Dodge it!" Rufflet flies up, narrowly dodging the beam. "Now use Leer!" Rufflet stares at the Totem Araquanid and his eyes glowed red, weakening its defense. The Totem Araquanid fires a beam of glowing bubbles from its mouth, and it hits Rufflet, knocking it back; he struggles to stay flying. "Wing Attack one more time!" Rufflet flies towards the Totem Araquanid and strikes it with his wing, dealing more damage than the previous attack due to its defense being weakened; it falls into the water and floats there, unconscious.
"You did it, Rufflet!" cheered Lincoln. Rufflet lets out a relieved sigh. After returning Rufflet to his pokeball, he rides Lapras to the shore where Alola Lana was waiting and climbs off Lapras.
"That was incredible, Lincoln." said Alola Lana. Lincoln gets a notification on his Rotom Phone.
"And it looks like Rufflet learned Aerial Ace." said Lincoln. Alola Lana looks at something in the water nearby, making Lincoln do the same thing; they see a Wishiwashi swimming over to them with what appeared to be a blue Z-Crystal in its mouth.
"That's Waterium-Z." said Alola Lana. The Wishiwashi swims over to Lincoln and spits out the Z-Crystal, making him catch it in his hand.
"Looks like I got myself a new Z-Crystal." said Lincoln.
"With that Z-Crystal, a Pokemon you have with a water type move can use the Z-Move, Hydro Vortex." said Alola Lana. "Pay attention as I show you the poses you must do to activate it." She then goes and does a swaying motion with her arms to her left before moving them to a right and holding them there.
"I think I got it." said Lincoln.
"Let's get back to the others." said Alola Lana. The two then head back to the beginning of the Brooklet Hill trail where their friends were waiting for them.
"How did you do?" asked Mallow.
"He passed." said Alola Lana with a smile while Lincoln holds out his new Z-Crystal.
"Congratulations, Lincoln!" said Mallow as she hugs Lincoln and nuzzles his cheek, making him blush, which made everyone else chuckle, while the ghostly Pokemon with a white stump over its head watches them from some the nearby trees.
Lincoln has completed another Island Trial and has earned another Z-Crystal. What's next for him as his Alola adventure continues?
