sword dragon and the phoenix -chapter 12- battles for theirs
this chapter will get into Yusuke's battle to become Genkai's apprentice then Rias' battle for her freedom
I will most summarize the Yusuke's battles
But cover 10-12 of the anime and cover the battle from begin to end
Yusuke pov
When I saw the vehicle, I was being brought to Genkei's compound, I was mortified to learn it was a van that looked like a giant bear. But even more shocked to learn it could travel faster than I would guess something like it could. As Halsin took me rushing through the streets and avoiding cars. I just asked, "how come nobody else is paying attention to this thing?" he replied "that's because of the mist, it's a field that prevents mortals from seeing things of the Moonlit world. my van is coated in druidic magic to help prevent mortals from fully perceiving it.
After that we went to a temple and as Halsin let me out he looked onto a crowd of various monks and other strange people to say "you have some competition to become the apprentice and at those that can fully perceive my van will give you the most challenge. Then an old woman came out of the crowd and looked at the van strangely. I knew I would have to battle to learn from one of the strongest physics in Japan. She had a powerful ability known as the spirit wave. But I would also have to deal with a human hunting yokai named Rando.
After Halsin left, I noticed a large crowd with Kuwabara included. After that Genkai looked at the crowd and started to shrink it down by drawing lots. As Halsin guessed only the people that fully saw the bear van passed the first test and with that I figured it had something to do with perceiving the moonlit world. after that the crowd got to see Genkai's power firsthand as she used it to show two large men they weren't as good as they guessed. The next thing we did was play a bunch of strange video games to prove our spirit ability.
It wasn't long until both Kuwabara and I passed the needed tests, and the crowd was paired down to the top twenty. With that came the next test in the form of a run through a strange magical woodland and both Kuwabara and I made it through with ease after having to face a bat yokai. Also, with that test only eight were left and we would have to battle our way through matches in total darkness.
I learned my gifts as a devil made things easier to see but still difficult to fully perceive. I saw the first battle go down with both Kuwabara and I was barely able to see the fight until the winner used a spirit blast to end things. I then missed the second fight due to being called out by Botan. It was in the next battle Kuwabara gained a new power in the battle to win.
After that I had to battle a martial artist with a strange mask and barely pulled out the win, but I had to use my devil wings and my single spirit gun shot of the day to end the battle. I just hoped I would have enough in me to defeat Rando now.
Then seeing the two remaining candidates to be Rando I was worried until reaching a strange, haunted battlefield that thankfully was recharging my spirit power. That left me to hope I could tap into my devil powers, so I would have something to fight my new opponent with. I battled the ninja bodyguard and got lucky with how the field was set up to make the ninja end up defeating himself with his own weapons by falling into a hole at the last minute.
But with my fluke of a win, we also learned who Rando was pretending to be as my former friend was about to face the enemy Rando was disguised as. The fight ended up with Kuwabara losing to a shrinking Shinto spell and crushed to a state of consciousness. I then had to use a powerful punch to force Rando to reveal his true face and then battle the yokai myself. Yet again I was able to barely win with various tricks and lots of luck, then I learned I would end up as the apprentice for Genkei.
With the fights done, Ravel arrived and told the psychic "I leave my pawn in your hand train him well I will pick him up in a few months." But the old lady said "I am not sure I can get him ready in that time, but I can make sure he is much stronger than he is right now. is it okay if he learns through hard knocks." Ravel said "very much so Shirou told me that's the only way he will learn. Please do your worst without killing him." I just cried internally to that.
Issei pov
As I prepared for the battle, I stayed with a nervous Asia until the time was right. After that, we met in the club room with the rest of the peerage as well as Ravel's peerage but there were two new people in Ravel's group with Yusuke not in the group. I then asked, "who are your new friends and where's Yusuke?" Shirou replied by pointing out a busty girl with dirty blond hair and said "this is our newest peerage member that took two pawns, Hakufu. Then he pointed to a boy with red hair in a pompadour and said this is Kuwabara and he is my new disciple and a potential to join the peerage but for now he is learning more about the moonlit world."
After that we learned Rias', older brother is one of the rulers of the devils Lucifer but formally Gremory. He took over after a long war, but Rias didn't say more. After that we teleported to the battlefield to learn it was a copy of our school in a pocket dimension. We would have to battle through the school and secure various locations. The others set up traps while Rias releases more of the power so I could use more of the boasted gear's power in battle.
At the gym, we met the first members of Ravel's peerage three pawns and a rook. My white-haired teammate fought the rook while I battled the pawns and revealed my new magic dress break to remove the girls from the battle out of pure embarrassment. Through the new move and my distraction rendered the four defenseless and Akeno blew up the gym.
After that, we prepared to join Kiba as Koneko was taken out of the battle by a magical attack. After she took damage, the small girl vanished, and Rias revealed she was sent off to recover. As Akeno faced Riser's queen, I soon met up with Kiba to learn he took out a few of Riser's pawns. It was soon Kiba and I met the rest of Riser's pieces. I then kept powering up to rise to battle.
Kuwabara pov
As the battle went on, Shirou told me to watch Kiba's fight to see what he could do with blades. I was amazed by how many times his sword broke and reformed as Shirou said "Kiba has the power to make blades make swords over and over. But they are skill mostly standard blades. I can remake legendary blades that I have seen. His skill is powerful but a step down from mine. then I saw what Issei could do with his skill as Shirou said to me "don't do that to girls if you can avoid it."
After that, I watched the other battles as Ravel said "my brother is powerful, but he does have limits and weaknesses. But Rias' power isn't enough to win, even if each member evolves their power, it isn't enough to bring down a phoenix. It was then Issei's power evolved and he took out most of Riser's other pieces. But after that Kiba and Akeno fell only leaving Riser and his queen left. The queen revealed she won using a vial as Ravel told me "That's my family's top item Phoenix tears. It lets up to two members of the peerage heal up completely. But to fight back Issei rushed to fight Riser with the power of a queen.
But with each strike from Rias Riser just healed his body, it was like the man was immortal. But it wasn't long until Riser's queen took out the healer of the peerage. it looked like Rias had a chance to win but Shirou soon said, "both Rias and Issei are close to the limits they did well but wont last much longer." It was soon Riser attacked a failing Issei as I knew it would be over soon." as Riser revealed he was about to kill Issei, Rias gave up the fight and Shirou said "I have two more tricks to try that may give Rias an extra chance. One is Issei pulling out more power and the other I will reveal if he cant pull out that win.
Issei pov
Next thing I knew, I woke up in a void of gold flames with a voice booming. It said to me "if you make an offering, you can get my power earlier than you would have. You can come close the power of that platinum interloper by doing so." Then a red dragon revealed himself to me as the red dragon emperor Ddraig. After that I woke up and learned we lost the battle. but the maid woman gave me a chance to fight back. with that I knew I would need to make a sacrifice to gain a power similar to Shirou and beat Riser to free Rias.
I knew as I left, I would have to give something up to win and I would need to win no matter what. I chose to give up my arm and use the tricks I planned, I would use holy power to stop this devil.
Ravel pov
At the engagement party, I formally got my brother to commit to the rating game in front of Lucifer himself. I also asked if he could get some students into Kou middle school and he replied, "if you win this battle, I will make it so." My brother didn't figure how much holy power I had on my side and that he would be put to work right away."
It was then Shirou was about to say something to me until Issei came in, overflowing in power and ready to take Rias back. Then her brother came and said "you nearly lost so; I am giving Issei the chance for a revenge match. Now Issei show what you truly can do with that power of the dragon, and I will leave my sister if your hands." With said power, he unleashed a red balance breaker like Shirou's but clearly hadn't gained the amount of time Shirou had.
When the armor fell off, Issei revealed that he traded his arm to use holy relics. Then used said relics to overcome stop Riser. He charged up holy water and used it to weaken the devil so that he could overcome Riser's regeneration and win the fight. With the battle done, Rias and Issei flew back to the club room on a griffin. Then the two locked lips as they rode home.
But at the same time Shirou said to me "I ended up getting the campione pregnant with twins." I replied to him "if we didn't have our rating game coming up, I would have you get Artoria and I pregnant as well. but that just means we have to win no matter what. But with what we can do, and the sad performance Riser put on, it should be all in the bag.
Chapter end
Next chapter will have Issei experience life after claiming Rias as well as see what Ravel's peerage can do against her own brother
But first ichigo will return to camp to learn more about this old friend and whats happening in the roman world
