"ANTONIA! YOU HAVE A CALL AGAIN!" Antonia slammed her door open and marched down the stairs. "Janice! You need to stop answering the phone. I don't know who keeps calling me." She quietly hung up and she unplugged the phone from the wall. Roy looked at the wires, "Damn. I haven't seen a house phone in a really long time. I thought your folks had money, Toni?" The girl looked up at the balcony as the redhead stood there. Donna came out of her room with her laptop. Maybe we can try to retrace the number to see where it's coming from. Janice looked at the teens and said, "Her father called back earlier today, and it came from a phone booth." Antonia went back up to her friends looking irritated. "I don't know any places around town that still have phone booths. I thought they took them down years ago?" Donna thought to herself and entered Antonia's room. "What about Walmart? I think they still have them." "No, not anymore," Roy responded sitting on the floor. "Garfield tried to make prank calls a while back and lost it when he saw they were removed." Antonia sat on the edge of her bed pondering who the person making the calls was and why they were so persistent. Her phone rang and she screamed. "STOP BLOODY CALLING ME!" She threw if off the bed and it landed in Roy's lap. He looked down and started laughing. "It's Jiya. You should answer it." Antonia felt embarrassed and took her phone back. "Hey love what's going on?" There was a cluster of voices on the other end. "Me and Wally went to Pizza Hut and next door there's an event with free food. They're handing out tacos! Is Roy and Donna still with you?" She looked at her friends and Donna mouthed what did they want. "Do you want to meet Jiya and Wallace for Taco's?" Roy got up and grabbed his key. "Ooooohh, I'll do anything for tacos." Donna giggled and she grabbed her wallet. "Yeah, we'll meet you there. Okay, see you soon." She put on her shoes and locked the door behind her.
"I LOVE ME SOME TACOS!" "Ugh. When you say it with that shitty accent you sound stupid." William, Angelita, Dominic, and Seymour were outside under the tent. It began to rain hard and the four were trying to stay dry. Angelita clung to Dominic as they judged William ranting about how much he loves Mexican food and that he wishes to live in a world where he would eat the same food every day. "The one time it rains it's of course when we're trying to get food." Dominic signed to his friends and they made faces. "I really want those charro beans. I can't believe this is a one-time thing and that they're not staying here. There's a lot of people behind us and it smells amazing." Angelita looked at people passing by with plates full of food. "I mean it smells and looks authentic so they would have a great business." She looked in the other direction and locked eyes with a certain girl with bright pink hair. "Oh, crap. Jiya's here with her dumbass boyfriend." The boys looked over and gasped. "Oh my god! Don't make it obvious that I said something. You guys are so stupid!" Unfortunately, Angelita and her friends could never be discrete about anything because they easily gave themselves away in any social setting. She was also a very loud person so it was clear that they made themselves visible. Dominic tugged on her shirt. "How many tacos did the others want?" The food truck window opened and a girl about eight years old looked at them. "Hola. ¿Cuantos tacos quieren?" They all looked at Angelita knowing she would need to be ordering for everyone.
"Hey guys! We already got you guys some tacos. We called Richard and his crew to see if they would show up. He said he would try so I dunno. He probably won't." Jiya got a little tense when he said that, but she kept her cool. Later on, Nicole, Joseph, and Rose showed up to get their food and chatted for a bit. Rose sat down next to her brother smiling at the group. "Hey! How is everyone?" Wally looked at her and waved, "Hiya! How's the college life going?" They chatted and ate until the last few of the group arrived. Roy looked confused when only Kori, Rachel, and Victor showed up. "Where's Dick? I thought Wally called him." Kori sat down after giving everyone at the table a hug strong enough to break all their bones. "Richards said he was really busy with homework. And Garfield is quite ill. Oh! Rachel! Do not forget to buy him his food!" The girl frowned and looked at the sign next to the truck. "The food is free Kori. Plus, I would never buy him free food." "OH, RACHEL YOU ARE SO SILLY! HAHAHA!" Kori then drowned the plate of tacos in layers of salsa making them droopy. The teens spent the next hour laughing and talking about the events that have happened since the school year started. Jiya drank her soda then slammed it down startling everyone at the table. "OH! Toni slapped Jade the other day in the hallway after class." Victor's soda came back through his nostrils and Rachel's mouth dropped. Roy looked at the goth, "You slapped her?" Antonia's eyes budged and she shoved the rest of her taco in her mouth. Wally laughed and pointed to the girl, "And she was quick with it too! I wasn't expecting Toni to return the action. She even told me she wanted to punch that bitch in the face." Antonia looked at Wally in horror while he laughed uncontrollably. "WAIT! LEMME SPEAK!" Nicole laughed at the sight of her friend trying to talk with shoved in her mouth. Antonia's phone rang and she screamed from being overwhelmed with emotions. She chugged the rest of her soda before speaking and Donna cupped her face trying to hide her laughter. "Okay, so what I've noticed is like… Jade really does not like me one bit. And I had to work with her in my forensic science class. And she would always stare at me for a long time, and I just didn't get why." Victor finished using his napkin and said, "You really got to watch out with her Toni. She went to the mental hospital last year because she stabbed another student with scissors." "But the thing is she came up to me in the hallway and pulled the loop on my backpack! It felt like I was being restrained and I reacted in a way where I wanted her to leave me alone!" The whole group looked at Antonia and Rachel shook her head. "She's clearly testing how far you can go without losing it. Its almost as if she wanted you to hit her hard first. It would avoid her as much as possible." Roy looked really annoyed and had his phone out texting someone. Donna was looking over his shoulder and her face turned red once she realized who it was. "Well it's all over so we can just forget about." Nicole cheerfully ate her cup of rice looking at it. Antonia's phone rang again and she was ready to throw it into the mud. Rose added to the conversation, "You know I've heard some really crazy stuff about her. She's not going to stop until you make her. I don't know how far it'll go but I would really watch your back."
The temperature dropped and the clouds turned grey. "Jonathan get your ass over here right now!" It began to rain hard again, and people were not stopping. The speakers got louder, and the food came out quicker. William was banging on his friend's truck for him to get out. "CAN YOU STOP?" The teen rolled down the window the slightest just to hear William just a bit more clearly. "Johnny, my lover boy. I see that you have an empty seat. Please spare an innocent young man like me to get in your truck." Jonathan rolled the window up and laughed at his friend. "Sorry buddy but you're soaking wet. I'm not letting you inside." "GOD DAMN BUT WE'RE COLD!" He put his face against the glass looking at his other friends. Dominic, Angelita, and Seymour were huddled together in a circle hugging each other. They tried to fit under the tent, but poor Seymour was getting drenched. On the other hand, Samuel was smoking a cigarette while the Flinders siblings were warm and dry inside the truck. Angelita then stood up straight when she heard her name be called. She walked to the food truck then returned with two large bags filled with foam containers. "We are in for a feast," chuckled Samuel. He put out the bud and slipped on his jacket. He ran out of the truck to meet Angelita to get the tacos, giving her a handful of cash. He returned to the car not before William opened the door and took his spot in the passenger seat. "BILLY! YOU BLOODY FUCKER! GET OUT!" "Nooo. It's not fair!" William had snuck inside, and Jonathan was upset. "Dude. You are ruining the car seat. You're soaking wet! Get out!" Jonathan shoved William against the door and the boy squealed. Samuel was kicking the passenger door as William refused to open it. Selinda pulled the boy's by his mullet and shouted in his ear, "Billy! You can literally sit next to us. Stop being a prick before Sam kills us all." William held on tp her wrist squeezing it so she could let go. When she did, he quickly opened the door and climbed over the center console to the back seat. "DUDE! GET YOUR SHOES OFF THE SEATS!" He held on to Selinda as she groaned trying to get him off. Samuel kicked William in his bottom dead center, and he let out a high-pitched scream. "MOVE OVER YOU HICK!" Baran grabbed onto the boy's shirt and practically lifted him to his seat.
"I could be 20 more of these…" "Nicole. I think you should stop eating before you make yourself sick." Joseph looked at the girl and her bloated tummy peaked from under her crop top. She felt greasy and wet from the dinner she just had. "Man. It's starting to get darker at this time." Roy looked up at the sky as it entered twilight. Wally put his arm around his girlfriend, but she threw his arm off and gagged at the sound their raincoats made when rubbed together. "I mean the month is almost over. We got like what over a week left?" She looked at her boyfriend. "October starts… in like three days." Wally cocked his head. "Oh, it is?" "Yeah, October is right around the corner. I can tell Antonia's excited for Halloween since her room is already decorated." The goth gave Donna a look of disapproval while Roy chucked. Kori perked up, "Oh dear friend! Will you be having a celebration for the upcoming holiday of Halloween?" Antonia thought for a moment and some of the people in her group smiled. Rose leaned closer to her, "Your house would be perfect to throw a huge Halloween party." Antonia got up to throw away her trash and did a little ballerina twirl. "I would love to, but daddy is already hosting some stupid event for his coworkers. Someone else would need to host it. I could maybe set up the decorations especially since I bought a lot of fake Spiderwebs last year." "I could maybe ask Oliver to lend me the clubhouse. We have this outdoor area that I think a lot of people would enjoy." Victor took out his phone and opened the notes app. "OKAY WE ARE IN PARTY MODE! Who is buying what and are we going to have a theme? I think it should be Zombies! Or you know what? Everyone is responsible for dressing up in one of the classic horror movie genres. I wanna be a robot humanoid that wants to take over the world!" Kori laughed in excitement and Rachel actually seemed interested. "Um… I actually know a few people who work in the that run-down warehouse club on 8th street. I could get some people to help us out and even mingle with the partygoers." Wally clapped his hands together, "ALRIGHT! We got a party at Roy's on Halloween 10 pm sharp!" "I haven't even asked him permission yet."
"What were they doing there?" asked a hungry Mikron. "I dunno but it was probably one of their cult meetings as usual." Seymour took a bite of his taco. "Hey! I was eating that!" Baran took the food from the boy and shoved the rest in mouth. "You already had your portion. Leave some for the rest of us." He walked away mumbling how fat and greedy Baran was for always taking people's food. The group was at Samuel's apartment where he and his mother lived in. "Here Sam. I got this little plate for your mom when she comes back from work." The punk hugged Angelita and kissed the top of her head. "Angel, you are the best." He stuffed the foam container in a spot where his mom could see the sticky note of what he left for her. Jonathan went over to the T.V and connected the Blu-ray player. "Ooooh what we watchin' tonight?" He pulled some movies from the small basket beside the cabinets. "We have… the newest version of Nightmare on Elm Street, Coraline, The Craft, Ice Age: The Melt Down, Donnie Darko, and… this looks like some French movies… oh and Halloween H2O..." Jonathan kept searching in the basket for something in his taste. Selinda looked over at Samuel but decided not to ask her question. "Whatever's in the basket is all we have." Everyone knew that Samuel and his mother were going through a rough patch. His father was deported and had not made any contact with them since April. His mother had to start taking night shifts at her jobs to make more money so wasn't spending as much time with her as he'd like. They decided to watch The Butterfly Effect while some didn't even make it past fifteen minutes into the movie. Mikron was the first asleep followed by Samuel. Jonathan decided to stay until his mother came back and until everyone else left.
