The Dinosaur King: Chapter 1 - The King's Brother
An hour later, A small mammal called Alphadon hunts after an insect and heads inside the cave where the T. rexes sleep. But the cave's empty and moves around the floor, sniffing the air. As it moves into the light, it sniffs the air again. The Alphadon grabs the insect and eats it. Then suddenly, behind the Small Critter, a large T. rex bends its head down towards a small mammal.
The T. rex was named Proxmis formerly called Buck or Bucky. Although Anton was Scotty's advisor, Proximus was the king's second advisor. He was promised the throne when the king died, but that changed when the king's new son, Tristan, was born. Proximus then became upset when Tristan was born. Now Proximus has to wait for Tristan to pass on when he becomes king.
"Life's not fair... is it, my little friend?" the Tyrannosaur spoke. The Alphadon turned around and saw him, and screamed. It runs away from Proximus who started playing and chasing after it. "While some are born to feast... others spend their lives in the dark, begging for scraps."
While Proximus talking, the Alphadon hid under a dinosaur bone. Proximus wipes out the bone with his foot, and the small mammal runs into the corner. "The way I see it... you and I are the same. We both want to find a way out!"
Then the Tyrannosaur placed his large foot stepping on the mammal's tail, preventing it from escaping. "You see, well, I... shall never be King," said Proximus as the Mammal struggles to free its tail from the Theropod's foot.
He exhaled lightly and said, "And you... shall never see the light of another day". And with closed-mouth laughter, he lowers his head to the mammal and opens his mouth to bite down on it. "Adieu..." said Proximus with a quiet laugh and prepared to eat the mammal.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to play with your food?" said a voice interrupting him. Proximus turns his head to see Anton standing there near him.
Theropod sighed lightly, with the mole still under his foot, and said "What do you want?"
"I'm here to announce that King Scotty is on his way. That's right, the King approaches, and this is not a drill," said Anton. Then the Alphadon finally got its tail free and ran away from the Scarred T. rex outside of the Cave. "His Majesty has requested an audience. Upon his entrance, you will rise and genuflect. So you'd better have a good excuse for your absence."
"Oh, now look, Anton, you've made me lose my lunch," said Proximus watching the mammal scurrying off.
"You will answer to Scotty missing the ceremony this morning!" Anton explained in a scolding manner.
"I Answer to No One!" The Scarred Tyrannosaurus roared at the Archaeopteryx.
"Well, You'll lose more than that when the King gets through with you. He's as mad as a Torosaurus with a broken horn," said Anton.
"Oooh... I quiver with FEAR" said Proximus and on the word "FEAR", Proximus crouches down and bares his sharp teeth at Anton. Then the Dinosaur Bird became very scared of the way Proximus looked at him.
"Now Proximus, Prox, Prox, No, no, no. don't look at me that way like that…" said Anton with a concerned and scared look as Proxmus spoke to him.
"Are you hungry, Anton? Perhaps we could have a bite together!" Then Zu quickly pounced on the Archaeopteryx who yelped and whimpered. Anton's trying to escape from the Tyrannosaurs, but Proximus grabs Anton's Tail Feathers with his foot.
"You can't eat me! It is forbidden to eat a member of the king's court!" Anton exclaimed in Fear. "No, please! Stop it! HELP!"
"Proximus!" said a voice behind him. Proximus looks behind him and sees a Scotty, standing at a ledge above him. The King seems to be to be quite angry with him.
"Mm-hmm?" asked Proximus.
"Release him" ordered Scotty.
Proximus lets Anton go, and the Archaeopteryx flies next to King Scott. As Anton wipes his forehead in relief sighs, and bows. "Impeccable timing, your majesty."
"Why look who has come here today! If it isn't Big Brother King Scotty descending from on high to mingle with the commoners" said Proximus sarcastically overjoyed as Scotty approached him.
"Victoria and I didn't see You at the presentation of Tristan," said Scott.
"That was today? Oh, I feel simply awful. Must have slipped my mind" said Proximus faking astonishment. He whips his tail at the small rock boulder and sends it away to Anton who yelped and dodged the rock as he lay down. "Of course, I meant no disrespect towards His Majesty or Victoria. As you know, I have tremendous respect for the queen."
"Yes, well, as slippery as your mind is, as the King's Brother, you should have been first in line!" said Petrie. Proximus snags his teeth at Anton, who has flown near his face. The Archaeopteryx takes cover behind Scott's foreleg in fear.
Then Proximus bends down to speak to him. "Well, I was first in line... until the Little Lizard was born."
"That "Little Lizard" is my son... and your future king," said Scotty lowering his head and meeting Proximus eye to eye.
"Ohh, I shall practice my curtsy," said Proximus as he turned and started to walk away.
"Don't turn your back on me, Proximus," said Scotty warning him.
The Scarred Tyrannosaurus looks back and says " Oh, no, Scotty. Perhaps YOU shouldn't turn YOUR back on me."
Scotty roars and jumps in front of Proximus who continues to walk away, clenching his teeth to his advisor Brother asking him, "Is that a Challenge?!"
"Temper, temper. I wouldn't dream of challenging you… again," Proximus answered.
"A wise decision. You are no match for His Royalness. But, Why not?" asked Anton rolling his eyes.
"Well, as far as brains go, I got the T. rex's share. But, when it comes to brute strength..." said Proximus looking at Anton.
Then he looked at Scotty and said "...I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool and my Big Brother will always rule over me."
"Not always, Proximus. One day, it'll be my son who rules and Tristan will be your Future King." Scotty said to his Brother.
"Then Long Live the King," the Scarred Tyrannosaurus replied as he walked away.
Anton deeply sighed and said, "There's one in every family, sire. Two in mine, actually." Then he perched on Scotty's back as he continued, "And they always manage to ruin special occasions."
"What am I going to do with him?" asked Scotty.
"He'd make a very Handsome Skull Prop," said Anton.
"Anton!" said Scotty chiding.
"And just think! Whenever he gets dirty, you could take him out and BEAT him" replied Anton. "All I'm saying is we should've been expelled from the Valley long ago."
"He's my brother, Anton. This is his home. As long as I am king, that will never change," Scotty replied as he still cared for his Brother.
"I get what you're saying, I had a cousin who thought he was a Mononykus. He slammed his head into trees, and our beaks aren't built for it. He was concussed regularly." Anton explained as Scotty walked away, then he noticed he had left, and flew after him. "Oh, you've gone. Uh, sire, coming back!"
. . . . .
Hours later, somewhere in the wide fields of the valley, There is a cave belonging to spitfire. The Dilophosaurus noticed Fireflies flying around and gathered many insects and bugs to make a painting on the wall as he blew the dust on them after removing the bugs the painting formed the face of a young T. Rex chick.
"Hmmm... Ah heh heh heh heh heh… Tristan," muttered the Dilophosaurus completing the ceremonial crown in the painting. Then the crested Theropod turns to the night star sky shouting in praise to the Great Kings of the Past to Guide Tristan on his journey to become king.
