WHERE PAST AND PRESENT BLEED TOGETHER - PROLOGUE

Klaus and Elijah were currently in the middle of another fight about Elijah letting himself get too wrapped up in Klaus' relationship with Hope and Hayley.

"Niklaus, I'm not trying to take Hope away from you."

"Well, that's how it feels when you constantly put your nose to where it doesn't belong."

"I'm in love with Hayley, this has nothing to do with Hope. You're his father and always will be."

Klaus waved his index finger at Elijah as he said, "And don't you forget it."

Suddenly he heard a familiar voice downstairs talking to Rebekah and he stormed out.

Walking downstairs, he was right, in the courtyard there she was, Caroline Forbes, catching up with Rebekah the only way those two knew how to do that.

"Caroline, what an unpleasant surprise, did you finally got tired of your small town life?" Rebekah asked her.

"Something like that. Is Klaus home?"

"Hello, love." Klaus greeted her.

"Klaus." Was all Caroline could muster for a start.

"Don't listen to my sister, it is actually a pleasant surprise seeing you in my city and in my home." Klaus smiled at her and standing next to his sister opposite her, he continued to ask, "So what brings you here, my blood or just wanted to party in the best place for that?"

"Neither. Can we talk alone?"

"Certainly. Come with me, we can talk in my study."

"Now that we are alone-" Klaus started to ask but was interrupted by Caroline's bluntness.

"You told me to come to you when I'm ready…"

"Yes?" Klaus wasn't sure where this was going.

"Well, now, I am. I'm done with Tyler, I'm done with the Salvatores and I'm done with Mystic Falls. I came to be with you." Caroline bluntly laid it out for Klaus.

Klaus then smiled like Cheshire cat, "Are you for real? This isn't some cockeyed scheme by your friends you came to enact?"

Caroline stepped closer and closer to Klaus as she said, "Klaus, I'm 24 years old, I'm done with playing stupid games. I'm here, because I want to be here, be here with you."

Then she was few inches from him and leaned in to kiss him. Breaking away, she said, "I'm in love with you, you know that deep inside."

Klaus didn't need to be convinced any further, he grabbed her head for a more passionate kiss and pinning her to the wall behind his desk, he continued to kiss her and in between told her, "You have no idea how happy you make me right now."

They continued to kiss as Klaus raised her up and Caroline wrapped her legs around his waist as he opened the door to his bedroom and carried her inside.

6 MONTHS LATER

Caroline was dressed in a short black dress and was currently putting on earrings while looking herself in the mirror.

"Honey, I'm already dressed and you are still in the shower. Our reservation is in half an hour."

He came out of the bathroom, with a towel wrapped around his torso. Then he walked and stood behind Caroline and wrapped his arms around her, starting to kiss her neck. In between kisses, he told her, "That leaves us plenty of time."

And he started unzipping her dress that he had zipped on just 10 minutes ago.

"Elijah, don't, we'll be late." Caroline giggled as he continued to undress her.
