Chapter 3 - Biopsy
The Doctor walked chichi down the corridor and into the exam room as she suddenly felt like she wanted to fall, all the nurses looking at giving her sympathetic looks, she remembered the women in her kingdom did the same when her mother died, how her friends looked at her when Goku was gone. She hated those looks! It made her uncomfortable as she never asked for anyone's sympathy.
'Mrs Son?' the doctor called out as chichi came out of her train of thought
'Huh?'
'If you could please lie on the table Mrs son' he said as chichi placed her bag and coat down, the nurse approached her with a hospital gown.
'Please put this on Mrs Son' the nurse instructed as chichi nodded and got dressed. She came out and was placed on the table and waited, the doctor approached her and softly smiled
'Just try to relax Mrs Son, it will be over before you know it.' He said as chichi nodded
'Keep your hands and arms flat on the table and keep your head down' the nurse instructed
'Ready for testing?'
'Yes doctor'
'Good, Let's get started' he said as chichi closed her eyes and just remained calm.

Chichi dressed back into her clothes, glad to not be on the doctor's table anymore. As she was decent, the doctor approached her
'Okay Mrs Son, now we will be sending your tests out to our special clinic and hopefully we will get the results next week.' He said
'Next week? Can't I know sooner?' she asked as he sympathetically smiled
'I understand you'd be eager to know as quickly as possible and please believe me when I say that this is as quickly we will get your results back, I must inform you that there a other patients who are also waiting to know….'
'I understand that. Its just….I just….. *sigh* well you know'
'Your anxious, its totally understandable in these circumstances. But please try not to worry yourself too much, we will know more when your results come back, we will make contact with you as soon as the results return alright?' he asked as she sighed and nodded 'I would ask you if you are alright in answering, perhaps there is a family member you would like to bring with you? he asked as chichi looked up at him and looked worried. For a moment she pondered whether to tell her family but then her doubts got the better of her. The less they know the better.
'There is no one. I'll be alright.' She said 'I'd like to go home now' she said as the doctor nodded.
….
'Your still not gonna tell them?' 18 asked
'I already told you, they don't need to know! For all we know this lump could be benign.'
'And if It isn't!? what then?!' she asked as chichi made them some tea and took her seat at the table
'I know what you are thinking. I should tell them! But it won't help them, it'll worry them!
'Yeah can you blame them? Their mother has cancer!'
'MAY! May have cancer! We don't know that yet and I would prefer to think I have a chance of not having it, because if this turned out to be true I want to at least pretend that I am fine before I may have to deal with the fact that I am sick! Is that so wrong!?' she asked as 18 looked at her, she could see she was desperate to keep this quiet so she sighed and reached out her hand for chichi
'Your tough! Stubborn as hell…..but tough' she said as chichi softly chuckled.
'You are the only person I can trust with this 18, please just support me' chichi asked as 18 nodded
'Sure. I don't like it though'
'You don't have to, I just need to figure out what I'll do if…' chichi was cut off when she heard the door burst open and her son returned home from school
'Hey mom! Look I got an A on my spelling test!' Goten jumped and cheered as chichi smiled
'OH that's great honey, let me see' chichi brought Goten to her lap and she inspected his spelling test and was very happy, 18 looked at the sweet sight of mother and son and she could see why chichi would want to keep quiet, she wanted to protect her kids from any grief, they had been through enough in their lifetime and she just wanted to hold onto the happiness, who could blame her?
'Thanks for dropping him off Gohan'
'Oh no problem, Videl has taken Pan to the mother baby group thing and I was bored. Don't suppose you got room to feed me too huh mom?' he asked
'Of course I do! No matter how old you are, you are still my baby' chichi laughed as Gohan blushed and turned to the beautiful android
'Oh Hey 18, we didn't know you'd be here' Gohan greeted
'Oh yeah me and your mom were just hanging out, and besides I better get back, Krillen and Marron oughta be expecting me now' 18 said as she got up to leave, she shot chichi a soft smile as chichi gave her another back. 18 took off into the sky and felt herself tremble a little. There was a possibility that her friend could be sick! And it hurt that she was gonna go through it alone to protect her family, well not if she had anything to do with, Chichi may not want her family to know, but no way she was gonna let her friend to do this with anyone there to hold her hand.

Chichi had cooked for her boys as they ate and spoke with their mouths full, making chichi giggle. They were exactly like their father
'MMMPH MMPH MPMH' Goten said with his mouth full of rice
'Goten, swallow then talk' chichi laughed as he did
'And then Trunks said there was no way it would have worked but I convinced him it would and then the rocket shot up into the sky. The principal was gonna put us in detention but decided we could do it for Next month's science fair! So trunks is gonna ask his mom if we could use more rocker fuel' He said as chichi giggled
'You're always full of mischief' she said as she turned Gohan 'And what about you hun, everything okay with you? how is my beautiful granddaughter these days?'
'She's good mom, I know we should bring her here more often, it be nice for Pan to spend time with her Grandma' Gohan said as chichi softly smiled, it would be nice. But if the results of her scans came back the worst, it was gonna be harder to be around her family cause they may notice a change in her ki. If it came to that, she would have to avoid them as much as possible until she was better.
'So have you heard anything about that promotion?' she asked
'Uhh no not yet, I think their just waiting it out, how bout you mom? Any news about dad?' he asked as she smiled softly
'Nothing, I think he and Vegeta are so far into their training that they haven't contact anyone. Whis must be putting them through the mill'
'I bet Dad is beating Vegeta at anything Whis throws at them!'
'Don't repeat that to Vegeta' Gohan joked as they all laughed and continued eating, chichi was blessed to have her sons. Regardless of what was going through her head, she was pleased to have them here with her.

After Dinner, Gohan had long gone home and Goten was already fast asleep in his bed. Chichi watched him sleep from outside his room and looked sad, deep down she wanted to tell him and Gohan, but then she knew she couldn't do that to them. They had fought enough battles in their lifetime and this was not gonna be theirs to fight. It would be hers and it was her choice on how she would choose to battle this if it needed battling. She walked back to her room and as she did she looked at all the pictured that hung on the walls of their home as she smiled softly. Pictures of herself and her boys through the years, as babies and as kids to now, and the pictures of Goku with them too! All of them looking goofy and happy, it warmed her hears so much to remember all those good memories. She then looked at one of photos of herself with Goku and the boys, it was Christmas, the last Christmas they had before Gohan moved in with Videl and Got married. She had such a wonderful day that Christmas and remembered thinking at how much the boys had relaxed into these times of peace and how eager she was it remained that way. No more grief and no more worries. She promised that they wouldn't have to go through that again, and she was determined to keep it that way.
….
A week had passed as chichi was washing some dishes in the kitchen, the phone started to ring as she went to answer.
'Hello?' she asked
'Mrs Son, may we ask if you could come to the hospital tomorrow morning at 9am?' the doctor asked
'Of course' she answered and hung up. And made a phone call to the only person she could ask.

Tomorrow arrived as Chichi and 18 sat in the doctor's office waiting for him to arrive, 18 looked at chichi who had said nothing since they arrived to the hospital, she was waiting to hear the answer. 18 hoped to the kais that they could leave here with good news today.
'Hello sorry to keep you waiting Mrs son' the doctor walked into the office and took a seat at the desk, his face looked worried but driven. Chichi felt a lump in her throat, her heartbeat ringing in her ears as it picked up the pace and her fingered twiddled together on her lap. She took a deep breath before asking the most vital question of the day?
'You got the results back?' she asked
'We have' The Doctor answered
And?' she asked he took a deep breath
'I'm So Sorry Chichi, But You have Tested Positive…. You have Breast Cancer.'
Oh nooooooooooooo! What's gonna happen now? How sad are you guys from that? Well I'm not spoiling anything for you you'll just have to wait for the next chapter won't you!? Thanks for everyone's support and I love each and every one of you! Take care and I'll be back soon! Xx
