Part 2! This comes after the previous chapter entitled "Bonaparte's Pessimism."
The legalities: I do not own any of the Expendables franchise (characters, places, and objects especially) and this is mostly au. Rated M just to be on the safe side.
Also, please don't be afraid to write reviews. I would love to hear from you all!
Hope you enjoy!
Prompt: "If you tell me again that we can't do this, I'm going to kick you somewhere you're not going to enjoy."
Jacoba wasn't entirely sure when Gunnar had learned how to (successfully) hide the fact that he was laughing from everyone. Because she knew for a fact that he was definitely laughing right now. It was only partially her fault this time, however.
She, Barney, and Bonaparte were currently presenting the new job to the rest of the team and she was really attempting to not growl at that last man. Even though she (and to a lesser extent Barney) had assured Bonaparte that the team could, in fact, do this mission, he was (not so subtly) hinting to the rest of the team that this job was not something that they should do. Taking a deep breath (and ignoring the subtly laughing Swede behind her), Jacoba leaned towards the recruiter. "Bonaparte."
The man in question looked up at her with a questioning look. "Yeah, Amazon?"
Jacoba schooled her features so that she looked extremely serious. "If you tell me one more time that we can't do this, I'm going to kick you somewhere that you are NOT going to enjoy. Do I make myself clear?"
"But…"
"I'm going to stop you right there, Bonaparte." Everyone turned towards Barney as he (finally) decided to weigh in on the conversation. "The Amazon has told you multiple times that the team can do this job and do it well. And now she is threatening you. So, if I were you, I would heed her advice and shut the hell up."
Bonaparte glared at barney before looking around the room to gauge the rest of the team's reactions (pointedly ignoring Jacoba's glare as he did so). When he saw that they were all agreeing with Barney and Jacoba, Bonaparte threw his hands in the air and started towards the door. "Alright, fine. No one can say that I didn't try to warn the lot of you. But don't call me when the whole job goes pear-shaped, because that is what it is going to do." And with that, he stormed out of the hanger to the sound of stifled laughter.
Jacoba sighed as she leaned back again before looking over at the boss man. "Barn, why are so many of your associates such drama queens?"
Barney rolled his eyes as the rest of the team finally began to laugh rather hard. After a couple of minutes, he cleared his throat. "Alright, that's enough. Let's get down to it." The rest quickly sobered as they all began to plan.
