Of course I had to throw in Lucia's POV.

Chapter 31- Lucia

Wow, that was, dang, it's going to take me awhile to process that, but I was more worried about Daniel. I was watching him as he was telling the story, and I could tell he was fighting his emotions. "excuse me" I wasn't sure if anyone heard but I stood up and walked away. I wasn't sure where Daniel had went but I went with my gut and found him by the water. The moon was almost full, casting enough light for me to see him, sitting on what I'm assuming to be the sand. I didn't go down there before it got dark so I'm not sure. I clear my throat so he knows I'm here "sorry" he says "I just needed a minute"

"I understand, but I wanted to make sure you were ok" I said moving closer, and sat down next to him. No one would believe it, Lucia Torres sitting in the sand, but here I was. I've notice since I've been staying with the Robbins, I've been doing things I wouldn't normally do. Like this trip, I'm excited for it. "I'm ok, thank you" Daniel says

"are you sure?" I ask then add "I know we don't know each other all that well, yet, but I'd like to think we're friends" I see him nod "we'll eventually be family so"

"thank you Lucia, I appreciate it I really do, but" he looks over at me, in the moon light Zo looked a lot like him "I'm surprised you don't hate me"

"hate you" I exclaim "how or why would I hate you?" when he doesn't say anything "if anything you should hate me, I did steal your" I couldn't finish as he put his hand on my leg "please don't say it" I nod.

"like I said, it wasn't your fault, and if you wouldn't have met him, and he came back home to me, I would have never met Barbara and I wouldn't have Arizona, or you Callie"

"good point" I smile "you sure you're good?"

"yes" he nods "I'm just going to sit here for a bit"

"mind if I sit with you?"

"not at all" he smiles. We're quiet for a while "Barbara would have loved Callie"

"I think I would have loved Barbara" I reply "actually I think I met her once, at the grocery store, Zo was about 4 or 5, there was another little girl with"

"that was Alex" he says "he um" he clears his throat "he's transgender"

"oh that makes sense" I smile, it did make sense, when looking at him closely you could see some of the feminine traits still, but I wasn't about to say anything. It's part of my job to read people, and find out the truth. Or it was going to be until Carlos moved us to Minnesota. Shaking that thought away. "did you" I sigh "did you love him?" I ask Daniel turns to me "yes I did, and as hard as it is sometimes, I see the same traits I loved about him in Callie"

"I see that too, although she looks like me, she acts like Carlos, especially now that she's learned to stand up to him" I pause "wait until you meet Aria"

"your other daughter" he asks, I nod, "she looks like Carlos, but acts like me"

"did he really hit you?"

"he did" I sigh "I want to say it was my fault and that I provoked him, but I really didn't, all I did was ask what his problem was with Callie being with Zo"

"well now you know"

"I also know why he had your pictures in a box hidden under the bed"

"that too" he sighs, than stands, turning he reaches out his hand to help me up "we should head back to the kids, and finish dinner, I'm starving" it was at that point my stomach reminded me it's been hours since we had lunch. The dogs came running up to us, and I hear Daniel laugh "hey guys, we're coming back" he scratches one of the older ones ears. In the dark I couldn't tell them apart. Wiping my butt off, I follow Daniel and the dogs back to the fire.
