Thirteen Years Later

He was sitting in the warm white sand watching as the waves crashed on the shore. The sound of laughter filling the air. He leaned back and smiled as he watched the beautiful scene in front of him.

His family.

He often wondered if this was all just some dream he would wake up from one day, and he'd be back in the frozen far North. He remembered the dreams he had when he was in exile, when he'd see Dany holding Lya and then what would always happen next..

Jon turned to his right and saw his wife approach him. She wore a light blue silk dress that hugged her curves and blew slightly in the wind. She held in her arms the newest addition to their family.

He smiled at her and held his arms out to her to take the babe. She smiled back at him and placed their daughter in his arms and sat next to him, her head leaning onto his shoulder as she stroked their daughters cheek.

Thirteen years it had been.

Thirteen years since the great counsel at Harrenhall.

Much had happened since then. The war had continued on after the parlay they had. Renly Baratheon had returned to his attempt at taking the capital from Joffrey.

It had not gone well.

Ser Jamie had finally been defeated, as had Kevin Lannister. Renly and his forces had then gone to take the Capital. Despite the fact that after their parlay, many of the Reach houses had abandoned Renly and the Tyrells, Lord Willas Tyrell among them. Uncle Aemon had sent out the ravens informing everyone in the 7 Kingdoms about the great counsel. Surprisingly some of the Stormland Houses had begun to abandon Renly as well. By the time the Stag had reached the Capital and broke through the walls of the Capital, he thought he had finally won.

Ohh, how wrong he was.

Cersei, Joffrey, Tyrion, and Cersei's two youngest children had still been in the Red Keep at the time. The lioness had watched as Renly's forces were flooding into Kings Landing and she and the Imp did what they had done in their past life, used that cursed Wildfire.

The foolish lions had thought that using Wildfire projectiles would only hurt the Baratheon soldiers, instead it had engulfed so much more. The Wildfire caches that the Mad King left under the city had been triggered with this idiotic plan. It had blown up half of Kings Landing, including much of the Red Keep it's self.

The Lannister's included.

Cersei, her children, and the Imp were all killed. As was Renly and nearly half his army. Ser Loras, the ever loyal guard had been killed in the explosion as well.

Part of Jon was disappointed that Tyrion had died. He had planned to make the Imp suffer so much more, but knowing that he had died from his own clever plans, gave him satisfaction enough.

After news reached them, he and Dany, along with their alleys that were at Harrenhall, had gone to the Capital to asses the damage. They had brought food, medical supplies, and soldiers to help clear the damage. After weeks of evacuating those who had still been alive and trapped inside, they had done the only thing left that they could do.

Burn it all.

It had been the only way in being sure to finally be rid of all the Wildfire.

"We will rebuild the Capital from the ashes, Jon. And a new beginning will rise from it." Dany had said to him with so much hope in her eyes.

Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion took to the skies and burned what remained of their ancestors work to the ground.

After that, House Tyrell had come to them seeking forgiveness for their folly. Jon had ripped the crown from Lady Margarey's head and tossed it into the fire. Making a silent promise to himself that none of the Tyrell's would ever hold any kind of power again, besides Lord Willas.

Ser Jamie had been delivered to them by the Tarly's. The Kingslayer had been imprisoned in Renly's camp outside the Capital and the golden lion had paid witness to what had happened to his family. Part of Jon felt sorry for the man, but the other part of him did not. He had given the Lannister's time after time to surrender and they had refused and chose to fight.

The destruction of Kings Landing had pushed back their great counsel, his wife had a hard time being in the once again damaged Capital, but she had made it appoint that they needed to clean up this mess and help the people before anything else.

By the time things had settled down they all traveled to Harrenhall, and he and Dany explained in detail their plan going forward.

Their would no longer be a monarchy. Their would no longer be 7 kingdoms. Instead, they would be the country of Westeros.

One country united, with nine different states. The North, The Vale, The Iron Islands, The Riverlands, The Reach, The Westerlands, The Crownlands, The Stormlands, and Dorne. Each would run themselves, themselves. But all nine states were untied under one rule, Westeros.

Jon and his wife both knew that starting a democracy would take time, years even. Electing your own governors and state officials was new to everyone. So they had decided to make an interim period. For five years, the current Wardens and Lord Paramounts would get together and form a counsel until the five year time period was up and they would then have their first election.

Lord Ned Stark for the North, Lord Royce for The Vale(since Robin was too young), Yara for the Iron Islands, Lord Edmure for the Riverlands, Lord Willas for The Reach(Mace was ousted after Renly's war), Genna Frey(Tywins sister) For the Westerlands, Lord Celtigar for The Crownlands, Ser Davos(since Shireen was too young) For the Stormlands, and Prince Doran for Dorne. Dany had been the initial choice for the Crownlands, but she and Jon had refused.

"Dragonstone has always been the unofficial paramounts of the crown lands, thats true. But my husband and I cannot be apart of this counsel, my lords and ladies. If we are, too many will look to us as king and queen. Lord Celtigar is fine choice for the Crownlands, and House Targaryen supports him." His wife had told their vassals.

Many people had thought that this would not work. Jon remembered the question that Lord Royce asked during the great counsel.

"Lord Targaryen, whose to say people will follow through with this new government for true? How can we be sure ten, twenty, thirty years from now a lord won't decide to conquer Westeros as your ancestor Aegon did and name himself king?" Lord Royce asked.

Jon had smiled at the man "Dragons live for hundreds of years, my lord. And House Targaryen and our dragons will be sure that no man or women ever tries to do that again, including my own decedents. The dragons will be the unofficial Protectors of the Realms."

He had spoken truly that day. Jon had made a deal with R'hllor that if their ever came a day where one of his decedents tried to conquer Westeros using dragon fire, that they would be punished by the Lord of Light severely.

R'hllor had agreed.

The counsel had been formed that day and the nine members had written up a fair and agreeable charter that would apply to all of Westeros. They had continued to meet three times a year at Harrenhall until the five year time span was finally up and elections were ready. During this time, he and Dany had used much of their wealth in helping re build what was damaged during the War of the False Kings, as the small folk had dubbed it. The coffee business had taken off and made them a fortune. The Capital was one of the biggest things being re built by the Targaryens. It was no longer the Red Keep, instead it was now The Capital Building. The counsel had tried to name it for the Targaryens, but he and his wife refused.

It was a large nine story white building. The sigils of all nine original rulers of each state had been engraved at the center of the building, with the three headed dragon the largest and in the middle. Meeting chambers, a library, and a museum were all built inside as well.

It had taken ten years until it was finally done, Dany had done a great job with it. She had hired workers from all over Westeros and the Free Cities to help with the reconstruction. The rest of the former Capital was now all grass and a large park area with a dragon statue that had been built to honor the Protectors of the Realm. No longer were their any homes or businesses in Kings Landing, just the Capital Building.

The nine members had also chosen state Capitals for each region;

White Harbor for The North

Pyke for the Iron Islands

Runestone for The Vale

Harrenhall for The Riverlands

Lannisport for The Westerlands

Old Town for The Reach

Kings Landing for The Crownlands

Storms End for The Stormlands

Sunspear for Dorne

After this had been chosen, Jon had started thinking about armies. Ser Jamie had lost his entire family in the war, except for his Aunt Genna. The man had been broken and wanted to end his life, but Jon had reminded him of the oath he swore to his father, Rhaegar, all those years ago. Despite the promise to Tywin of keeping Jamie a prisoner, he and Dany had decided to give the man some sort of purpose. The Lord of Dragonstone submitted a purposal to the interim governors of forming a Westeros Military. A navy, and an army. After a few years of going back and fourth on it, they had agreed. Jon had suggested Ser Jamie as spear heading the Westeros army. The man was a good fighter and a good battle commander. He had agreed and along with Edd, Gren, Pyp, and surprisingly Gendry, had helped form their army. Ser Davos, Lady Yara, and Lord Velaryon had helped with constructing the Westerosi Navy. It had taken many years but they had finally gotten a semblance of a military together. The Nights Watch had turned into one of these Military bases for the Westeros Army. The black brothers were now soldiers. His Uncle Benjen and Jeor Mormont helped in training them as well.

When the elections finally took place, new governors were chosen for each state. His brother Robb Stark, had won for The North. Lord Royce had won for The Vale. Lady Greyjoy had won for The Iron Islands. Lord Darry had won for The Riverlands. Lord Massey won for The Crownlands. Ser Marbrand for The Westerlands. Lord Hightower for The Reach. Lord Selmy for The Stormlands, and Arianne Martell for Dorne.

It was a historic day in Westeros. Jon and Dany had flown to Kings Landing to celebrate and congratulate the winners of the elections. After the celebrating was over, each governor had returned to their regions and began ushering in laws for each state. They had formed branches of state officials under each governor and slowly but surely the vision that he and his wife had, was slowly coming along.

Their uncle Aemon had passed shortly after the elections had taken place. They had mourned their beloved uncle and gave him a funeral fit for a Targaryen. Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion had burned their uncles body and his ashes were placed in the newly built mausoleum in one of the caves on Dragonstone. It had been an extremely painful loss for his wife and children who had grown so attached to the old dragon. Lya had cried for days asking for their, Uncle Maester. Their uncle had lived a year longer then he had in their previous life, and Jon could only be grateful.

In the time after the war, Dany had given birth to their third child, a silver haired grey eyed little girl whom they had named Shaena. Shaena was two years younger then Jace.

Their fourth and fifth child came together after Shaena, twins boys. Aemon and Rhaemond. Aemon had the typical silver hair and violet eyes, while Rhaemond was the direct copy of Jon. Dark raven hair with grey eyes.

Their great uncle Aemon lived to see the birth of the twins and meet the little boy named after him. Something his wife and he had been most grateful for.

Three years after the twins birth, another little girl graced their life. Visella Targaryen. Named after her uncle Viserys, and her grandmother Rhaella. She had her fathers dark locks and the Targaryen eyes, though unlike his wife and eldest daughters violet eyes, his little Ella had lilac colored eyes. Dany had said her brother Viserys had the same color.

Jon had been over joyed with their six children. They had decided to stop after Ella.

Until a surprise came about, the small babe Jon now had in his arms.

Danessa Targaryen. His little girl was eight moon turns now. She had her mothers silver hair and violet eyes, the carbon copy of his wife. Lyanna had nicknamed her Baby Nessa. Though secretly he had called her his little Dany.

He rocked his baby girl in his arms and watched as all his children played in the water. Jace had brought both Ghost, and Luna with them, along with their five pups, all splashing in the water. They now had a whole pack of Direwolves on Dragonstone.

The sounds of roars filled the air and The Lord of Dragonstone looked up and watched as seven dragons flew in the skies. Yes, seven dragons. Four years ago Viserion had laid a clutch of four eggs. He and Dany had no idea that he was actually a she. Jace had already bonded with Viserion, and so the four eggs went to Lya, Shae, Aemon, and Rhae. They had hatched on their own unlike Dany's three eggs since these were not stone eggs.

Lya had gotten the blue egg and named her she dragon, Tessarion, just like the former Blue Queen ridden by Prince Daeron. Shae had received the pink and orange egg, and much like her older sister, she claimed it too was a she dragon and named her, MorningFyre. Rhae had received the grey and white colored egg, he named his Stormrider. Aemon had received the red egg and named his dragon, Damieon, for their grandsire the rogue Prince who had been the rider of, Caraxes. His little Visella did not yet have a dragon, much to her heartbreak, but Dany knew she would one day and always made sure to remind her she would one day be a great dragon rider just like her brothers and sisters. She did have a white wolf pup with crystal blue eyes though, whom she named, Winter.

Tormund had returned back to The True North after their uncle passed. Jon knew he was never going to stay long, he was forever grateful for his friend. They had helped the Free Folk with the rebuilding of Hardhome and had also worked out a trade agreement with them, which Mance was shocked by but grateful for nonetheless.

Ser Barristan and Ser Jorah had stayed with their family, forever guarding the Targaryens. Barristan was now up their in age, but the man had refused to put down his sword or give up his oath. Both knights were part of their family and always would be.

The last thirteen years had been more then Jon could ever ask for. He had gotten his revenge, and he felt as though he finally had found peace. Those who had harmed his family had been punished and he and Dany were living the life they both had always wanted. A little less then a year ago, the state governors had declared the island of Dragonstone a republic of Westeros. Meaning they were still members of Westeros, but Dragonstone was its own entity. They were able to pass their own laws just as each state was able to. They were still apart of the country, but not ruled completely by the Crownlands. It had been a gift for the years of work and the money the Targaryens put into the newly formed, Westeros.

Jon reached for Dany's hand and squeezed it "Lya came to me this morning about, Aron."

Dany giggled at him. "And what did you tell our sweet girl?" She asked.

Jon sighed "That just like her mother, I would support her choices. But if he dares to lay a finger on her or dishonor her in any way before her ten and seven name day, I'll kill him with my bare hands."

Their eldest daughter was five and ten now. She was nearly a women grown as his wife kept saying, but Jon always disagreed. She would always be his little girl. Despite his attempts at shooing lords sons away, their daughter had suitors left and right. Lyanna was the most perfect mix of Stark and Targaryen beauty. She was also the perfect mix of wolf's blood and dragon blood. She was fierce and wild. Jon and Dany had promised years ago they would allow their children to marry whomever they wished. Or not marry, it was their choice. Lya had met a boy named Aron, who lived in one of the fishing villages on the island. Dany swore the boy was a dragonseed. He had silver hair with bright blue eyes, even though he was no lords son, he was kind and respectful, and he let Lya be Lya..

And his daughter had feelings for the young man.

"She's a smart girl, Jon. Aron will treat her right." His wife said to him.

He rolled his eyes. "Aye. But it doesn't make it any easier." He said.

Dany giggled "Would you prefer her to wed Robb's heir? I believe little Cregan Stark is only a few moons younger then Jace, and we both know how much the Northern lords fawn over Lya."

Jon had taken his children north a few times, even after promising he would never return, his children begged him to see where he grew up. Lya had been the talk of the North after they had seen her. Many of the lords called her the She Wolf Re-Born, her likeness apparently much like his mother. Jace had also been received well. He had the Targaryen coloring but as he continues to get older he looked more and more like his father. Many of the Northern lords had asked for betrothals for his two eldest.

He declined them all.

Jon scoffed "Lya will never be tied down to a castle, we both know that Dany. She's already told us on more then one occasion that Jace is the heir to Dragonstone. We couldn't keep that girl in one place even if we tried."

Lyanna loved to travel. She had already been to Pentos, Bravos, and The Bay of Dragons with Dany. She had met Missandei and Greyworm while there, and Lya swore she would see the whole world before she died.

"Whatever she chooses I'll support. Jace will be a good lord of Dragonstone, my love. He is his fathers son." His wife replied.

Jon leaned over and kissed her temple "Aye. He will."

Danessa cooed at them and he looked down at his baby girl and smiled. "I think she's hungry, love." He said.

Dany reached for the babe and tossed a small blanket over her shoulder, removed her dress strap and their daughter latched on and began suckling.

"Papa! Papa! Come play with us!" He heard Ella shout to him.

All their children had still been playing in the water. Lya and Ella were chasing the pups, meanwhile, Shae and the boys were jumping into the waves. He looked over at Dany and she smiled and nodded to him.

The Lord of Dragonstone stood up and made his way toward the water. Ella came running toward him. He picked his little girl up and tossed her in the air like he use to do with Lya when she was this small.

Ella squealed in delight and dragged him into the water. The kids then came charging at him, jumping on his back and asking to be tossed into the water. He had obliged.

The sound of his children's laughter, the barking of the pups, and the roars from the dragons reminded Jon that he was finally home.

He turned around back toward the shore and saw Dany standing up with their daughter in her arms. His beautiful wife was smiling at them and waving their daughters little hand. It made Jon think back to that dream he would have of her with Lya, and he knew as he looked at her that this was better then any dream could have been. Everything that he had done had been worth it, and he'd not apologize for any of it.
