Chapter 1

Vi walked from the back of the bar, making her way to her usual stool. Late evening was approaching on the far side of Piltover, as the usual bar guests were making their way through the doors.

"Start me off with a beer, would ya Pete" The girl with dark pink hair said, as she grabbed for a bowl of snacks.

"Any plans this weekend?" The bar man said as he slid the extra foamy beer in her direction.

"Just to spend it right here with you, and my other favorite bar rats" Vi said as she gestured with her hand pointing from one side of the bar to the other.

"Well lucky us I guess"

Vi scoffed as she took a large gulp from the glass in front of her.

"You know we aren't the only bar around, and if I'm being honest, I wouldn't even come here if I had a choice" The bar man said as he made his way back to Vi.

"ha, ya well you got me there, but at least I know this place only brings in low lives. I'm not exactly looking to want to run into any of Piltovers finest, if you know what I mean"

"Those scum bags wouldn't even come here if people were being murdered"

Vi rose her glass. "To being such a low priority we can kill each other"

Pete smiled as he continued wiping out glasses.

"Hey, speaking of low lives, you see my sister in here tonight?"

"She was in about 30 minutes ago, might still be in the back. You want me to check?"

"Nah, I'm sure she will come out when she is ready, but hey can I get another one, leave it here, I'm just going to head to the toilets real quick"

Vi rose from her seat and headed to the toilets as the bar man went to grab her another round.

As Vi made her way to the back she noticed the bar was filling up quicker than it usually did, with more faces that she didn't recognize. "Shit this place better not start getting popular, I was just starting to like it", She thought to herself as she finished up in the lady's room.

She began making her way back to her stool, when she got pushed by a small group of younger miscreants.

"Hey what the hell" Vi said as she gathered herself back up.

"Sorry ma'am, we didn't see you there" said a young man as he laughed to his other friends.

"Did you just call me Ma'am?" Vi said as she balled her hands into fists and walked closer to the group. "Just who the Fuck do you think you little punks are?"

"Listen lady we don't want any trouble, were just here to celebrate our friend's birthday" A young girl said as she pointed to a group of females just ahead of them.

"Then maybe watch where your going next time" Vi went to turn and walk away, just as the group of females turned walking towards them. "Shit" Vi said as she turned quickly and made her way to the bar.

"Pete" She yelled, trying to get the bar man's attention as he was serving other guests. "Pete now" Vi said as she threw her fist down on the bar.

"Easy Vi, can't have you breaking anymore of my shit"

Vi leaned in, grabbing Pete by the collar of his shirt. "You need to warn Jinx, Blood is in the water" she said as her heart began to race.

"What?"

"I said blood is in the water" Vi said again motioning to the group of people standing only a few yards away.

"Fuck, not today" The bar man said as he ran towards the back.

Vi grabbed her drink, chugging it as fast as she could. She then slammed the glass down as she made her way for the door, trying not to draw any unwanted attention to herself.

She reached for the door, ready to exit, when she heard her name being used by the one voice, she knew she could never forget.

"Vi, is that you?"

Vi turned around, looking at the tall women with navy blue hair. "Hey Cait"

They both stared for a brief moment before Vi spoke, trying to cut the tension between the two. "Never thought I would see you in a place like this"

"Ya, I guess its not exactly the kind of place I would usually frequent, but its my girlfriend's birthday, and she wanted to try something new". Caitlyn said as she pointed to a tall, thin, beautiful young women surrounded by a group of friends.

"Well seems she has good taste" Vi said as she slowly backed up to the door.

Caitlyn watched as the women she once shared her life with inched further and further away from her.

"You probably don't want to miss the party"

"Ya I guess not" Caitlyn said as she looked back to her new group of friends.

Vi reached back for the door opening it slowly. "It was nice seeing you again Cait" she said as she made her way out the door.

Vi began walking to her vehicle, frustrated with the encounter. The feelings it brought back up, that took months to burry, resurfaced like it was nothing. "Fucking hell, why, why can't I just have a place that can be mine, away from them" Vi said to herself as she looked towards the upper part of Piltover.

She then began rummaging through her pockets, trying to dig her keys out, when a hand reached for her shoulder. Vi jumped back against her car, not used to being touched, but also knowing being grabbed outside of a bar was never a good thing.

"Shit, sorry Vi I didn't mean to scare you"

"Caitlyn, you of all people should know you can't do that to someone in the dark" Vi said as she leaned against her car, her hand over her chest, balled into a fist.

"You're right, I just really wanted to catch you before you left"

"Well, you caught me" Vi said as she stood up straight wondering what Caitlyn could want.

Caitlyn stood back, eyeing Vi in disbelief, for she didn't think she would ever get the opportunity to see her again. The last time they were this close, Vi was telling her she was leaving. Caitlyn always thought if she ever saw Vi again, she would tell her exactly what she caused her, the pain, the misery, the heart ache. But all she found herself wanting to do was grab the women standing in front of her, and never let her go. "No" she thought to herself, exercising some self-control.

"What is Cait" Vi said pulling Caitlyn out of her thoughts

"Honestly, I never thought I would see you again, but I told myself if I ever did, that I would let you have it, yell at you, try and make you feel the way you made me feel all those months ago. But as I stand here in front of you there is only one thing that comes to mind"

Vi broke her gaze from Caitlyn unable to look at the woman who's heart she had broken. "If it will make you feel better Cait, you can say whatever you need to say to me"

"Why'd you do it?"

Vi immediately looked back up to see Caitlyn's eyes begin to sparkle as tears threatened to spill over.

"Cait, I already told you"

"No" Caitlyn said cutting Vi off. "I want the truth. I know all the stuff you said last time was a lie, just a poor attempt as an excuse to leave. But I know there was more. Something had been bothering you for a while. Something important you chose to keep from me, and I want to know what it was" Caitlyn couldn't hold the tears back any longer as she stepped closer to her old partner. "Please, if you ever loved me, then you will tell me why? Why you quit the force, why you left me?"

"It's not that easy"

"Enough of the excuses Vi. Did you ever even love me?"

"Of course I did, I still" But Vi stopped herself hoping Caitlyn didn't notice what she was about to say. "This isn't exactly the right place for this" Vi said as she motioned to the front of the bar, as multiple people stumbled out.

"Hey babe you coming back in" A voice could be heard yelling by one of the females standing by the front door.

Caitlyn quickly wiped the tears from her face. "Tomorrow, noon, meet me at the park where we used to go on our lunch dates?" she said as she turned to walk back to her girlfriend, only stopping to turn back one last time. "Please" she said as she looked into the silvery blue eyes, before turning back and walking away.

Vi stood stunned. Out of all the ways this night could have ended, she never expected this. She got into her car, and headed home, contemplating if she should grant her ex-girlfriend her last request.
