Chapter 2:
After all the main presentations of scientific findings, and inventions. Jeremy and Donald walked out of the coat room, the whole room grew quiet, as whispers vibrated across the marble walls of the structure! "Did you hear that Professor Brasston fellow went on a rant about extraterrestrials?" "Yeah I heard he flew in Geneva with a tin foil hat!" Donald rolls his eyes as he hears all the gossip about his partner, he looks at Jeremy, embarrassed and humiliated, as he looks down hiding his face in his coat. Stepping outside, Jeremy's club of despisers were not afraid to let Jeremy know how they felt about his presentation! "GO BACK TO CANADA PROFESSOR 'ASSTON'! HAHAHA!" "HEY BRASSTON, I GOT ABDUCTED BY THE ALIENS YOU TOLD US ABOUT, AND THEY PROBED ME INAPPROPRIATELY! HAHAHAHA!" The insults, although clever, didn't stop, even when Jeremy and Donald got in their cab.
As their car drove away, Donald told the driver the hotel they were staying at, and closed the partition. "AHHHHH! WHAT THE HELL WAS I THINKING?" "Jeremy you didn't do anything wrong" "I knew I shouldn't have told them the alien theory, of course they didn't believe it, why would they?" "Jeremy!" "All I wanted was to get them to like me. Now, not only do they hate me, but they think I'm some nut-case conspiracist too!" "JEREMY!" Jeremy jumped A little, Donald let out a frustrated sigh. "Listen Jerm, somethings just never change, unfortunately those Assholes can't grasp the idea of free thinking, or thinking outside the box! You got to stop trying Jerm, you trying to gain their respect will make them hate you even more! Just let it go man, focus on the people that do like you, the people that are willing to listen to what you have to say!" Jeremy laughed with a little bit of sarcasm, "Heh, why is it you always stick up for me?" Donald laughed and said, "If I didn't, your ass wouldn't have survived past the First Grade" The both laughed. Donald put his arm around Jeremy, "Tell you what, when we get back to the hotel let's go down to the bar in the lobby and get a couple of drinks, on me?" "Donald I don't know, you know I get hammered easily!" "Oh come on! Trust me, it'll do you good!" Jeremy smiled reluctantly, "Alright Fine!"
Jeremy finally felt a little bit better from the convention, the calming ride through the suburbs of Geneva at night was something you see in one of those travel videos. Jeremy admiring the night life, while Donald was trying to light A cigarette, the car violently swerved 90 degrees down a back road. "Holyshit!" Jeremy said as he and Donald both banged their heads on the windows. Donald now pissed that his cigarette got put out. Looked at Jeremy annoyed and confused. "Jeremy what the hell is this guy doing?" "I-I don't know? Is this a shortcut to the hotel?" "No Jeremy, Hotel is in the complete opposite direction, I don't know where this guy's taking us, but it ain't our stop!" Jeremy, although hesitant to open the partition, was not going to let another person ruin his trip! He slid open the partition, Jeremy looked at the drivers face through the rearview mirror, his pupils were dilated. "Hey, where the hell are you taking us, the hotel's back that way, you're driving out of the city!"Jermey got no response, "HEY WHAT THE HELL'S YOUR PROBLEM?" The driver turned his head ever so slowly, not even phasing at Jeremy's questions and responded real calmly with: "just relax and enjoy the ride…"
Jeremy looked at him, his face, so expressionless, so devoid of any emotion. Jeremy, not knowing what to do, quickly closed the partition. He looked at Donald who exchanged the same look as Jeremy. "What the hell is he doing Jeremy?" "I DON'T KNOW, His eyes are dilated and he said to enjoy the ride!" "Great, this guy's on drugs!" "Did he look like it when you told where to go?" "NO… maybe he took them right before we left or something, that makes sense right Jerm?" Jeremy just looked at Donald with the same expression as before. The car is now crossing onto a dirt road into a wooded area. "Okay Screw this I'm getting out." But as Donald tried opening the car door, the locks instantly snapped down. "What the, HEY?" "Donald then started banging on the partition, "LET US OUT YOU SON OF BITCH, I'LL STRANGLE YOU ALIVE!" Looking through the partition Donald saw the driver's face through the rearview mirror. A blank open mouth smile, behind dead eyes. The head lights shined in front of a tank facility. The Driver stepped on it and ran straight into the barrels!
A glow of blinding light, followed by a bang that echoed through the treetops. A fire cloud leaped into the sky. Jeremy awoke to the heat of and the raging glow of a massive fire. By some miracle the car somehow survived the explosion, shielding Jeremy from the worst of the explosion. Cuts line his body, tears in his suit, blood running down his head, his whole body ached from the concussive forces brought upon him. He wiped the blood off of his head, he felt no wounds, it wasn't his, he turned over to Donald, laying motionless with a massive hole on his forehead. Jeremy quickly as he could, tried checking if Donald was still alive, "Donald, Donald, DONALD" there was no pulse, and no response. "No… NO! Jeremy leaned over Donald's body, sobbing. Until he heard loud, ruptured breathing. He looked up. Out the shattered passenger window. It was the driver. He was standing there, badly burned with blood dripping out everywhere, parts of him were even still on fire. He looks at Jeremy, still smiling with his mouth wide opened, his lips almost completely burned off. He held a large metal rod. A rush of adrenaline kicked in as the only thought Jeremy had was "How the hell is this man still alive?"
The driver starts walking towards the car, Jeremy struggles to get out, just barely managing to break free, as the driver starts beating the car with the rod! Walking away towards the woods, the driver notices him. Jeremy stands up to face him, the driver stands there, still on fire, "don't worry, it'll all be over soon." The driver says before rushing Jeremy, Jeremy's life started flashing before his eyes, thinking of all the mistakes he's made in the past, he managed to move out of the driver's way at the last second. A loud squishy sound came from the drive, he had impaled himself on a thick tree branch, his already labored breathing quickly came to a halt. Jeremy just looked at the driver, disgusted, but just as he was about to walk away. He turned back one more time to look at the driver, but noticed something on the driver's neck. Jeremy walked a little bit closer and crouched down above the drivers head, he was unsure at what he was looking at, it glowed dark pink, it resembled a bar code of some sort but it's all distorted. Jeremy felt uneasy looking at the glowing mark, he stood up as the woods around him went silent, even the sounds of the roaring flames were now silent. He looked back at the battered car, with the image of Donald's body filling his head, replaying the moments leading up to the crash, the driver's hard face, his lifeless smile, his chilling words. The only sound Jeremy can hear now is his own thoughts!
"This…is…all because of me, I shouldn't have ever taken Donald with me on this trip, he's dead because of me! It's all my fault. EVERYTHING!" Jeremy walks slowly back to the car, and collapses down onto his knees, the same symbol the driver had is now on his neck. He picks up a piece of glass from the shattered windows, and places it above in front of his chest. "No one will miss me when I'm gone, I'll be doing everyone a favor!" Jeremy extends his arms wielding the glass shard, ready to take his life, he breaks a smile, as tears run down from his dilated eyes. He pulls the glass shard towards himself, he stops just as it pierces his suit. His eyes turn back to normal, and his smile diminishes. He drops the glass shard, and collapses completely on the ground, curling up into a ball crying, at the thought he almost took his own life. His grief was cut short though, as a loud screech echoed out in the woods. But when he looked up, he was no longer at the crash site. It looked like nothing Jeremy could even comprehend; A cluster of shapes, colors, it made an alien planet look more comforting, the sky if you could even call it that looked like price tags of some sort, all stitched on top of each other. Written on them were symbols, written in some unknown language, it looked like no language that he's ever seen!
"Jeremy falls back on his ass, dazed and confused. Growing ever more panicked the more he looks at the place, wondering to himself "Is this hell?" it wasn't, but pretty soon he wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The screeching starts up again louder than before, followed up by distorted giggling from right behind him, he turns and sees about six striped triangles and rectangles marching towards him, they were wore wigs and dresses; dresses that looked like a child scribbled on them with a crayon. Jeremy just stood there, maybe it was fear, or maybe it was disbelief, he didn't know what he was feeling, or what he was seeing! They marched closer and closer, Jeremy walked backwards, they had their eyes looked at him. "H-hey, HEY!" he shouted trying to scare them off. That did nothing, one of the shapes left out an ear piercing low pitched laugh, it then lunged at Jeremy, pinning him on the ground, as the other shapes galloped in a circle around him. Jeremy caught the shape, It struggled and struggled to get to Jeremy's face, "SHIT, AHH, GET THE FUCK OFF ME YOU YOU MONSTER!" The scribble lines on its dress started lifting ofF, forming into spikes, they started extending towards Jeremy's face. Jeremy eventually threw it off, as it got back up, Jeremy saw the glass shard he almost cut himself with, the shape started rushing towards him, without hesitation, Jeremy picked it up, and at the last second, sliced the shape open. He looks at it as cotton begins spilling out.
The shape looked at the cotton spilling out of it, then looked at Jeremy, the other shapes did the same. They let out a deafening high pitched yelp, it made the whole place shake! It was so loud, Jeremy went deaf for a good ten seconds. They stopped as the area started shaking even more violently, as a plastic looking door appeared right in front of him! He's absorbed into it, entering a series of more fake looking doors, until he emerges in a large Sanctum looking room; covered in price tags, and what resemble sale tags. There he's met with a large mass of clothing hangers about three stories high. The mass resonated like a heart, and came to life within seconds, immersing into a hydra like creature; with six hanger hook tentacles! Jeremy, instilled with fear, attempted to flee but the thing used its hook tentacles and grabbed him by his leg, and started slamming him on the ground, back and forth repeatedly for a whole fifteen seconds. It threw him on the floor. All of his bones were broken, his muscle and ligaments torn open. The thing moves closer, moving in for the final kill. Jeremy is somehow still alive, but just barely. His vision starts fading in and out. As the image of the thing started blurring in and out. A small dot drops in, what looks like a person, he couldn't make out any details other than that they were wearing yellow and blue. The figure jumped higher than the thing. The figure threw pointed objects at it, the thing eventually went down. When the thing finally collapsed, the sanctum and the rest of the artificial area started evaporating, fading back into the crash site, Jeremy passed out, right before, the figure went up to Jeremy, it was a girl, she put her hand on his chest and Jeremy finally passed out!
