Adrien puts a hand on my knee, grinning as he keeps his eyes on the road. "Good thing we got out of there when we did, Marinette, I thought if anyone threw anymore rice, we could have made a meal out of it." I laugh. "Well, it is tradition."
"You going to be okay leaving Paris?" I have to sallow twice before answering. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't, but you and I want a fresh start." "Your brave enough for the both of us," Adrien responses. I give him a light poke. "So, who are you? The Cowardly Lion?" Adrien laughs hard. "I don't have
mane, but I do have a tail…." Oh, his eyes are gleaming.
We joke and flirt with each other all the way to the airport. When find our flight and the waiting game begins, and Adrien starts to head off. "Where you going?" I ask. Adrien gives me a slight bow. "Why, My Lady, I believe your fan of hot bean water?" "Ugh! Adrien!" He gives me a playful wink and disappears into the crowd.
I settle back in my seat, watching the sea of people flow by. Each one has their own story to tell, where with me, I'm starting out on a whole new journey.
Adrien comes back with a cinnamon raisin bagel and a coffee, and he plops down in the chair next to me. I'm unwrapping my bagel from its crinkly wrapper when I find my husband staring at me, blinking slowly. "You look like a kitty," I giggle, booping his nose. "Oops." I snort as now a white dollop of cream cheese now sports Adrien's nose. "Princess, I was only going to ask for brownie points, and I'll get for thanks is nose of cream!"
"Oh, so that's your motivation. Not my wife is hungry and I need food?" I laugh as Adrien tries to unsuccessfully try to lick the cream off his nose. "Your never going to reach! Sit still!"
Adrien sighs as I rummage in the bag for a napkin. "Somehow I doubt it will just be the kids you'll be saying that too, Bugaboo. Ow!" "What?" "Its like sandpaper!" "Here, I'll make you forget your owie." and I lean forward to peck him, but Adrien's lips are more addicting then any caffeinated drink.
"Meow." Adrien pulls away. I slap his wrist lightly. "You are so embarrassing!" "Moi?" "Yes, you big ball of fluff!"
Our plane is called, and Adrien trots in front me. I nudge him as we wait in line. "I have a yo-yo and I'm not afraid to use it." Adrien swiftly kisses my left cheek, leaving me breathless. "I don't fear your yo-yo," his eyes are sparkling. "I fear you with hot coffee in your hand!"
I blush. "Might I remind you that's how we met?" "Ah, yes. Love at first sight, or should I say first scald?" I raise an eyebrow. "Do you want me to tell them your actually a cat and to put you in the hold?"
"I be lonely," he juts out a lower lip in a mock pout. "To bad."
Oh, what fun we have. I hold Adrien's hand as the plane takes off, and he falls asleep after I'm comfortable again. Maybe all that naughtiness wore him out. I sketch, listening to Taylor Swift.
When we land several hours later, the rental car is waiting and we drive down to the marina. "Before we head off to our island, let's get some fish and chips," Adrien suggests.
The food is amazing, and there's even a dance afterwards, and I fit snugly in my husband's arms. I've only left Paris, and I already feel lighter then I have in weeks.
Down at the docks smells strongly of fish, but I feel a fizz of excitement as Adrien helps me into the boat and he starts the engine to take us to our new home.
The sun sets, and blackness settles in over the water. I sit mesmerized an hour or so later as the moon peeks over the horizon, as if shy to show its face.
At last, Adrien cuts the motor and only the sound of water lapping the boat's sides and rocking can be heard. "Let's leave what we don't need till morning," Adrien's voice is quiet, breaking the silence.
I squeak as he picks me up and carries me across the glowing sand. "What are you doing?" I ask, making sure to hold on tight.
"Its tradition that I carry you across the threshold and I'm nothing without being through," Adrien opens the door, and flips on the light, keeping me in his arms.
"Oh." Its a perfect cozy little cabin, just the right size for us. We explore the house then return to the bedroom.
My palms begin shake. "Adrien?" "Yes?" "I'm nervous," I glance at the bed. "That's perfectly normal, love. Hey, how about I shut off the lights after I transform, and when your comfortable, we'll turn on the light, okay?"
I blush. "Thanks."
The lights blink out and a green flash fills my vision. But then my sense are hyper-active as I hear Cat's boots clicking against the floor.
"You fond of this?" Cat's rubs the fabric of my shirt. I shake my head and close my eyes, hearing the sounds of tearing before I float away into softness.
"Mm," I groan in the morning. "You forgot to shut off the light." "That's not the light, that's the sun," Adrien's voice is muffled from the pillow. "Why does it have to be so bright?" Adrien laughs quietly, and shuffles close to me.
"Sleep well?" I blush, staying silent. I don't know much sleep we actually got, and I'll be probably be sore tomorrow.
The floor is cool as I slide out of bed, and walk over to the mirror. "Good morning, Medusa," I joke to myself as I stare at myself in the mirror.
"Here, I'm coming-Aah!" Adrien jokes at the sight of my hair, then pulls me to the bathroom.
