"Have any of you ever experienced stage fright?" Nick inquires, glancing at Kendall, James, Carlos, and Logan. "Before hitting the stage for your concerts?"
"I don't," Kendall replies confidently.
"Me neither," James adds.
"Sometimes I do," Carlos admits.
"I feel the same way," Logan chimes in.
"Logan, you seem so self-assured when you're up there. How can you feel nervous?" Nick asks, genuinely curious.
"Thanks, Nick! But honestly, my confidence comes from not being alone on stage. I've got these three jokers with me, and that makes it a blast," Logan explains.
"My favorite moment during your performances is when you and James pull off those backflips. I've watched the videos online," Nick shares.
"That's definitely a highlight for us too. James and I always nail those backflips in perfect harmony," Logan says with enthusiasm.
"Do you guys listen to N'SYNC, the boy band?" Nick questions.
"Absolutely! We enjoy a lot of boy bands," Logan responds. "James is a massive fan of Maroon 5."
"There's just something about Adam Levine's incredible voice that resonates with me," James says passionately.
"What do you mean by that?" Nick asks, puzzled.
"Kendall, Carlos, and I have been scratching our heads over that for years," Logan laughs. "He's always had a thing for Adam Levine."
"Camille has painted quite the picture of you, Logan. She's sung your praises about your kindness and popularity among the Palm Woods kids. Apparently, you've crafted a robot named BuddyBot that has made a mark. Care to share more?" Nick inquires.
"BuddyBot is my crowning achievement, born from my imagination at a mere six years old for a science fair," Logan reveals.
"Six years old and making robots? Quite the feat. What can BuddyBot do?" Nick probes.
"Endless possibilities. I'm always fine-tuning his abilities. He's my pride and joy," Logan enthuses. "BuddyBot possesses a remarkable human-like intelligence. He's a pro at chess and math puzzles."
"Sounds like a top-tier invention," Nick commends.
"Not a toy, though," James interjects quickly.
"Excuse me?" Nick responds, bewildered.
"Logan's fiercely protective of BuddyBot, so let's refrain from labeling him as just a plaything," James clarifies.
"How was I supposed to know that?" Nick exclaimed. "I've never crossed paths with you fine fellas until today. My apologies, Logan."
"No worries, Nick. Can't blame you for not knowing. I sense a strong bond brewing between us," Logan reassured him.
"Wait, really? You actually want to be friends with me?" Nick inquired, taken aback.
"Absolutely. James, Kendall, and Carlos are on board too. What's the issue? You don't fancy us as pals?" Logan responded.
"It's not that. I just don't have any friends of my own, except for Camile. At school, I'm either invisible to my peers or the subject of ridicule for my appearance as a typical nerd with glasses and fiery red hair. Life's tough. If you're bright, you're bullied; if not so bright, you're still picked on. It's only the popular crowd that gets a pass," Nick confessed.
"I can relate, Nick. I've faced my fair share of teasing for my intellection," Logan sympathized.
Nick was shocked. "No way. You? But you're so effortlessly cool. Why would anyone bother teasing you?"
"In the land of 10,000 lakes, I was tormented relentlessly. I stood smaller than my peers, with a demeanor that was quiet and timid. My interests set me apart from the crowd, earning me the title of a nerdy, peculiar kid. While others struggled to comprehend my fascination with knowledge, I found solace in the pages of books and the hum of technology.
Socializing was a challenge, pushing me further into the realms of solitary pursuits. It seemed as though I would never find companions who appreciated me for my true self. And then, like a ray of sunshine piercing through stormy clouds, Carlos, James, and Kendall appeared in my life. Carlos, a beacon of friendship, introduced me to his band of brothers, ultimately leading me to join their ranks on the hockey team.
Though I still grapple with shyness and face jabs for my love of math and science, I stand firm in my identity. I refuse to mold myself into someone I am not simply to please others. As Logan, with unwavering determination, declares, "I am who I am, and I will not change for anyone." Logan explains thoroughly.
"Logan, your words are like a breath of fresh air, full of inspiration and passion. You have the potential to be a fantastic motivational speaker," Nick declares.
But Logan shakes his head. "Public speaking? Not my strong suit. Even the thought of giving oral reports in school makes me break out in a cold sweat."
Nick nods sympathetically. "I feel you. The idea of standing in front of the class, all eyes on me, is enough to send my anxiety sky high. Public speaking is definitely not for the faint of heart."
"That's incredibly kind of you, Logan. Your kindness and compassion shine through in everything you do. Always hold onto that beautiful part of who you are," Ms. Knight replies warmly.
"I promise I will, Ms. Knight," Logan responds, beaming with joy.
As Kendall, James, Carlos, and Katie settled into their seats around the table, eager for breakfast, the atmosphere shifted when Ms. Knight rose to address the group.
"Kids, it's been a while since we've seen Mr. Mark and his children, and I'm excited to tell you they'll be joining us for breakfast today," she announced, her voice filled with enthusiasm. However, her words were met with a chorus of groans and dismayed expressions.
"No Mom, please! We really don't want to deal with them again," Kendall protested, crossing his arms in defiance, a frown etched on his face. Ms. Knight, noticing the discontent brewing among her children, tried to soothe their frustration. "Just hear me out," she urged, her tone steady.
"Mr. Mark is actually on board with that suggestion you made about enrolling Lucas and Audrey at Camp Unplugged. He just hasn't had the chance to tell them yet." The mention of the camp sparked a flicker of curiosity amidst the reluctance, hinting at a potential shift in the morning's dynamics.
"Please, have a seat at the table," Mr. Mark invites as he settles into his own chair.
Lucas and Audrey obediently comply.
"Behold, a delectable plate of pancakes. Would you care for some?" James manages to utter through clenched teeth.
"I would be delighted, thank you," Lucas replies, eagerly accepting the plate.
"How kind of you," Audrey chimes in appreciatively.
Meanwhile, James huffs in frustration, visibly irritated as he grumbles and rolls his eyes.
