Chapter 8: Sweet Mountain: The Candy Calamity

Sonic stood at the wreckage of the destroyed generator, arms folded as he surveyed the mess. Candy and metal debris littered the area, the smoldering remains of Eggman's machine tangled in the sticky aftermath. He kicked a piece of shattered gingerbread aside, squinting at the sky as Carol landed next to him with her usual confident swagger.

"So, how did your fight go with Captain Jelly-for-brains, Danvers?" Sonic asked, glancing up at the red and blue-suited hero. Carol's cosmic energy still flickered faintly around her.

"Captain Jelly's toast. Or... scrap metal," Carol replied, brushing off some imaginary dust from her shoulder, looking far too pleased with herself. "Pretty sure his lollipop sword won't be causing any more trouble."

Sonic chuckled, casting his gaze over the chaotic mess around them.

"Nice. So, we've trashed the pirate, wrecked the generator, and freed the Wisps." He paused, his tone shifting. "But don't you think this all feels... a little too easy?"

Carol, her energy still buzzing faintly, frowned slightly.

"Now that you mention it... yeah. Something feels off."

Before they could dive deeper into the thought, the clattering sound of wheels echoed through the wreckage. Both Sonic and Carol turned to see none other than Orbot and Cubot, each pushing large trash containers—Orbot's red and Cubot's yellow, matching their usual color schemes.

Cubot, still stuck in his cowboy drawl, let out a dramatic sigh.

"Well, shoot, why do we always get stuck on clean-up duty?" he moaned.

"Sadly, it's orders from the boss, Cubot," Orbot replied, lifting the lid of his container with a look of pure distaste. "Someone's got to deal with the aftermath, and it seems Eggman has more... pressing matters."

Carol blinked, her eyes narrowing.

"Wait, why is this robot speaking like a cowboy?" she asked.

"Actually, that's a good question," Sonic added, crossing his arms as he glanced between the two. "Yo guys, what's with the voice change?"

Orbot sighed, clearly used to explaining.

"His voice modulator got stuck in 'cowboy mode' during a mishap, and Eggman hasn't bothered to fix it."

"Well, partner," Cubot interjected, tipping his imaginary hat, "I reckon the boss has been mighty busy plannin' somethin' big. Ain't had time for lil' ol' me."

Carol rubbed her temples, speechless for a moment. "

I've officially seen everything. First a pirate robot, now a cowboy robot. What's next? A robot clown?"

Sonic chuckled, "You get used to it. Sort of."

Carol smirked, glancing up at the empty and near wrecked galleon floating above them.

"You know, boys, one of you might want to head up there and sweep up the scrap. Captain Jelly's not going to be using it anymore..."

Cubot, tipping his hat again, grumbled, "Well, I reckon that heap o' scrap is yer doin', ma'am. Mighty inconvenient fer us, I say."

Carol threw up her hands in mock surrender.

"Hey, I didn't ask for a pirate fight. Blame Eggman for that," she replied.

"Speaking of Egghead..." Sonic cut in, steering the conversation. "Have you two noticed anything weird with him lately? He's always up to something, but this time feels... different."

Orbot paused, thinking it over.

"Weird? Well, now that you mention it, he has been acting... stranger than usual. But—"

Cubot jumped in, "Well, partner, the boss has been talkin' 'bout somethin' mighty peculiar. Keeps goin' on 'bout some kinda 'grand finale,' somethin' big, y'see—"

Before Cubot could finish, the PA system crackled to life. Eggman's booming voice echoed across the park, full of his usual grandiosity but with a noticeable edge of impatience.

"Attention, dear guests! Stand back, for the grand attraction is about to begin! It's guaranteed to deal with annoying hedgehogs and robot-trashing heroes alike! Prepare for... the ultimate show!"

Sonic and Carol exchanged quick glances as a deep rumble shook the ground beneath their feet. The vibrations grew stronger, and both turned toward the nearby Chocolate Volcano. It was bubbling ominously, thick plumes of steam rising from its peak. The rumble morphed into a deep roar, and cracks appeared around the base of the volcano.

"Oh no," Carol muttered, her eyes narrowing. "Please tell me that volcano isn't about to—"

Before she could finish, the ground split open with a deafening crack, and from the molten chocolate emerged a towering figure. Glowing yellow eyes pierced through the smoke, and the creature's hulking form began to rise. It resembled the twisted form of a Darkside Heartless, but fused with the essence of the world around it—its massive arms and chest were covered in layers of cake and frosting, its legs dripping with caramel, and its fists encased in hardened candy shells.

The giant Heartless let out a low, rumbling growl, its grotesque candy-infused body casting a shadow over the landscape. Molten chocolate dripped from its arms, hissing as it splattered onto the ground.

"Well," Sonic muttered, his tone casual despite the monstrous creature towering before them, "that's new..."

"Yeah... definitely didn't see that one coming," Carol added, her fists glowing with cosmic energy. "Guess Eggman wasn't bluffing about the 'grand attraction.'"

Orbot and Cubot, watching in horror, slowly backed away, their trash containers abandoned.

"We'll just... um... take our leave," Orbot stammered, already turning to flee.

"Yeah, y'all handle this one," Cubot added, tipping his imaginary hat one last time before both robots bolted.

Sonic smirked as he watched them flee, turning his attention back to the monstrous Heartless, which had now fully emerged from the volcano. The creature's candy-coated fists were raised high, ready to strike. The ground trembled with each step, sending ripples through the molten chocolate as it lumbered closer.

Sonic cracked his knuckles, a grin forming on his face.

"Guess it's time for the real boss fight," he declared.

Carol's eyes locked onto the Heartless, her cosmic energy surging as she clenched her fists.

"Let's take this thing down before Eggman gets too smug," she remarked.

The Heartless, standing at its full height, was a monstrous fusion of dark energy and sugary absurdity, its candy-encrusted body gleaming in the volcanic light.

"Think we should give it a name?" Carol asked, her fists glowing brighter as she prepared to strike.

Sonic shrugged, shifting into a battle stance.

"How about... 'Sugar Crusher?'" he suggested.

"Eh, could work. I was thinking 'Candy Calamity,' though," Carol countered.

"Okay, yours is better..." Sonic admitted.

With a thunderous roar, the Candy Calamity slammed its massive candy fists into the ground, sending chunks of molten chocolate and candy debris flying into the air. The shockwave cracked the ground beneath them, the landscape shifting in response.

"Oh yeah," Sonic quipped, dodging a piece of flying debris. "This is gonna be fun."

Carol grinned, her fists igniting with bright cosmic energy as she prepared to leap into action.

"Alright, let's show this thing what happens when you mess with us."

The stage was set—the final battle against the Candy Calamity was about to begin.

Objective: Defeat the Candy Calamity!

The ground trembled beneath them as the Candy Calamity loomed over Sonic and Carol, its candy-coated fists dripping with molten chocolate. The grotesque Heartless seemed both ridiculous and terrifying, its glowing yellow eyes locked onto its targets as it took another heavy step forward, cracking the ground beneath its massive feet.

Sonic glanced at Carol, his usual smirk replaced by a more serious look as he assessed the situation.

"Alright, looks like we've got ourselves a real mess to clean up," he quipped, his feet already shifting into a battle-ready stance.

Carol, hovering slightly above the ground with her cosmic energy glowing around her, gave him a quick nod.

"Sonic, you go low, I'll take the high ground!" she called out, her voice confident and sure.

Sonic grinned, "You got it, Danvers!"

With a burst of speed, Sonic dashed forward, his form a blue blur as he zeroed in on the Candy Calamity's legs. Carol shot upward, her body glowing as she flew toward the creature's head, ready to deliver some serious damage.

The Candy Calamity wasted no time. It raised one massive candy-covered fist and slammed it into the ground, sending a shockwave of molten chocolate and debris flying in all directions. Sonic leaped over the wave effortlessly, his reflexes sharp as he spun into a Homing Attack aimed straight for the creature's leg. His body collided with its thick, frosting-coated limb, delivering several rapid hits in succession before bouncing back to avoid the next attack.

"Ha, you're not so tough!" Sonic called out, his voice playful, even in the middle of combat.

Above him, Carol was already in action, weaving through the air with grace and precision as she dodged a barrage of candy missiles launched from the Candy Calamity's chest. Her fists glowed brighter as she charged forward, unleashing a flurry of energy blasts aimed at the Heartless's massive head. The blasts hit their mark, cracking through its candy shell and sending chunks of caramel and frosting flying.

"Nice hit, Carol!" Sonic shouted from below as he dashed toward the Heartless's other leg, ready for another round of attacks.

Carol grinned, her eyes locked on the Heartless as she dodged another missile.

"Thanks! Keep up the pressure down there, Hedgehog. This thing's not going down easy!"

The Candy Calamity let out a deep, rumbling growl as it raised both of its candy-covered fists, ready to bring them down in a devastating slam. Sonic saw the attack coming and quickly darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the crushing blow. The ground shook from the impact, sending cracks racing through the battlefield as molten chocolate oozed from the crevices.

Eggman's voice crackled over the PA system, filled with sarcastic glee.

"Attention, guests! Please be advised that our star is now active! We recommend standing back—unless, of course, you're a pesky hedgehog or a superhero in need of a sugar rush! Mwahaha!"

"Meh, my name for this thing is better..." Carol boosted loudly.

Sonic rolled his eyes at the announcement, zipping behind the Candy Calamity's leg and delivering a series of quick kicks to its vulnerable joints.

"Yeah, yeah," Sonic muttered under his breath, before springing backward to avoid another candy-coated fist.

Meanwhile, Carol flew higher, aiming for the Heartless's head.

"Time for a sugar crash!" she called out, throwing a powerful cosmic punch that landed squarely on the creature's face. The impact caused the Candy Calamity to stumble back slightly, its footing shaking for a moment.

Sonic spotted the opening and didn't waste a second.

"Now's our chance!" he shouted, launching into his Phantom Rush attack, his body a blur of movement as he unleashed a series of rapid punches and kicks at the Heartless's legs, each strike chipping away at its sugary armor.

The Candy Calamity growled, raising its arms again, but this time it hesitated, clearly feeling the impact of their coordinated strikes. It roared in frustration, molten chocolate oozing faster from its body, dark energy swirling around its candy-coated form.

"Carol, watch out!" Sonic warned as the Heartless swung its arm upward, aiming to knock her out of the air.

Carol dodged to the side, grinning as she flew circles around the creature's head.

"Nice try, but I'm not on the menu!"

As if in response to her taunt, the Candy Calamity let out a deep, rumbling growl, its glowing yellow eyes narrowing in frustration. It raised one of its massive arms, the candy-coated limb shimmering as thick caramel began oozing from it. With a deafening roar, the Heartless slammed its arm down into the ground, sending sticky caramel splashing across the battlefield.

"Whoa!" Sonic skidded to a stop as the caramel spread, sticking to the ground and quickly hardening. He tried to move, but the caramel was like glue, making it nearly impossible to dodge. "Oh great, caramel traps. Because running this place wasn't already hard enough."

The Candy Calamity wasn't done. Its arm shifted, a licorice whip unfurling from its wrist and lashing out toward Carol in the sky. The long, flexible weapon snapped through the air with surprising speed, aiming to drag her down.

"Danvers, watch it!" Sonic called, his feet struggling against the sticky ground.

Carol banked hard to the left, barely avoiding the licorice whip as it sliced through the air.

"Whoa! Almost had me there!" she shouted, turning quickly in mid-air to regain her positioning.

The whip came at her again, but Carol was ready this time. She twisted her body with a graceful spin, dodging the licorice and retaliating with a series of photon blasts aimed at the giant Heartless.

Each blast hit its target, leaving scorch marks on the Candy Calamity's frosting-covered body. The Heartless stumbled back slightly, but the licorice whip persisted, stretching out farther as it sought to snatch Carol from the sky.

Meanwhile, Sonic struggled with the caramel-covered ground, every step becoming more of a challenge. The sticky mess clung to his shoes, making dodging the incoming attacks nearly impossible. He needed a way to get out of the trap—and fast.

"Time to call in some backup," Sonic muttered, spotting a familiar capsule in the distance.

He dashed toward it, gritting his teeth as he fought against the caramel's grip. With a quick spin, he smashed the capsule open, and the yellow Wisp emerged, zooming into Sonic's body.

Suddenly, Sonic's form shimmered with energy as the familiar voice echoed through the battlefield.

"DRILL!"

Sonic's body transformed into a glowing, yellow drill-shaped blur as he shot into the caramel-covered ground. He tunneled beneath the sticky mess, moving with blinding speed as he maneuvered under the battlefield, the caramel no longer a hindrance.

From above, Carol glanced down as Sonic disappeared underground.

"Guess you've got this handled, huh, Hedgehog?"

Sonic's drill form erupted from the ground just behind the Candy Calamity, right at the base of its leg. He spun upward, drilling into the Heartless's candy-coated armor and striking its weak points with precision. Chunks of cake and frosting flew as Sonic chipped away at the creature's health.

But the Candy Calamity was far from finished. With a guttural growl, the Heartless extended both arms outwards, summoning small, floating candy-shaped orbs that scattered across the battlefield. The dark orbs pulsed with energy, each one ticking like a time bomb.

"Oh, this is gonna be good," Sonic muttered sarcastically, eyeing the candy orbs as they began to drift toward him.

"Careful! Those things look ready to blow," Carol shouted from above, her photon blasts already targeting the orbs. One by one, she shot them out of the air, the orbs exploding harmlessly before they could do any real damage. "I've got the ones up here, Sonic! You handle the ground!"

Sonic nodded, his body still in drill form as he zipped around the battlefield, smashing through the orbs with his high-speed strikes. Each orb exploded into sugary mist upon contact, but he couldn't let his guard down—another wave of caramel poured from the Heartless's arms, trying to trap him again.

"Alright, that's enough sugar for one day!" Sonic growled, launching himself at the Candy Calamity's leg once more. With a perfectly timed Homing Attack, he slammed into the leg, causing the Heartless to stumble. "Time to turn up the heat!"

Carol, high in the air, saw her moment. The Candy Calamity raised its massive arm for another caramel slam, but its chest was left wide open. Her fists glowed brighter as she charged up a powerful photon burst.

"I've got you now," she muttered, rocketing forward.

She unleashed the burst directly at the Heartless's upper body, the impact sending a wave of energy rippling through the air. The Candy Calamity staggered back, dark energy swirling as cracks began to appear in its candy armor. Chunks of frosting and cake fell from its body, revealing the dark energy at its core.

"Nice shot, Carol!" Sonic called out, already preparing for another drill strike.

Eggman's voice crackled over the PA system again, this time sounding more agitated.

"Oh come on! Surely you can do better than this, Heartless! They're just a hedgehog and a space hero! Stop playing with your food and finish them already!"

"Sorry, Egghead," Sonic quipped. "Looks like your 'grand attraction' is falling apart."

The Heartless, now visibly weakened, let out another furious roar as it slammed both arms into the ground, caramel and licorice flailing wildly. Sonic and Carol exchanged a quick look, knowing that the battle was far from over.

"Ready for more?" Carol asked, her energy still crackling around her.

"Let's do this!" Sonic shouted as he dashed toward the Candy Calamity, his determination radiating with each step.

The Candy Calamity let out an enraged roar, its massive body trembling as dark energy crackled around it. With a deep rumble, it raised both arms high, molten chocolate oozing from its chest and dripping onto the battlefield. The ground quaked beneath them as cracks formed, releasing pools of bubbling chocolate from below.

Suddenly, with a violent swing of its arms, the Heartless unleashed a Molten Chocolate Wave, sending a massive surge of thick, boiling chocolate flooding across the battlefield. The wave spread quickly, threatening to engulf everything in its path.

"Not good!" Carol called from above, flying higher to avoid the rising tide of molten chocolate.

Sonic's green eyes narrowed as he quickly assessed the situation.

"Gotta move fast!" he muttered, spotting a glowing capsule nearby.

With a burst of speed, he dashed toward it, smashing the capsule open and releasing the Cyan Wisp inside.

The Wisp fused with Sonic's body, and a familiar voice echoed through the battlefield:

"LASER!"

In a flash, Sonic transformed into a streak of cyan light, his body zipping across the battlefield at lightning speed. The Molten Chocolate Wave was no match for his laser form as he zipped effortlessly over the dangerous terrain. He darted toward the Heartless's legs, the laser's speed allowing him to strike quickly before the molten chocolate could catch up.

The Candy Calamity, still in the throes of its rage, stomped the ground with renewed fury, sending out a series of powerful Sugar Shockwaves. The tremors rocked the battlefield, making it even harder for Sonic to maintain his footing as he emerged from his laser form. He stumbled for a moment but quickly recovered, his reflexes kicking in as he leapt into a Homing Attack, targeting the Heartless's leg.

"Gotta stay on my toes here!" Sonic shouted, using the momentum from his Homing Attack to follow up with a rapid barrage of Phantom Rush strikes. His fists and feet blurred as he pummeled the Heartless's candy-coated limb, chipping away at its frosting armor.

Above, Carol was dodging and weaving through the air, her eyes locked on the Candy Calamity's chest as it began to glow ominously. The Heartless's chest cavity opened, and from within, a barrage of candy missiles shot out, raining down from above in a deadly arc.

"Here we go!" Carol muttered, raising her fists as her photon energy surged.

With quick, precise blasts, she fired at the candy missiles, detonating them before they could hit the ground. Explosions lit up the sky as the missiles burst into sugary fragments, but the Heartless's assault showed no sign of slowing.

"Stay focused, Carol!" Sonic called from below, dodging another shockwave as the Heartless stomped its foot down once again. He gritted his teeth as the molten chocolate continued to flood the battlefield, forcing him to leap from one piece of crumbling terrain to the next.

"Don't worry about me!" Carol replied, her voice filled with determination as she powered up a massive photon blast. "Worry about yourself!"

With a flash of energy, Carol charged forward, flying straight for the Candy Calamity's head. The Heartless tried to swipe at her with one of its massive arms, but she twisted through the air, avoiding the blow. Her fist glowed with bright cosmic energy as she closed in on the creature's exposed face.

"Time for a cosmic beatdown!" Carol shouted as she delivered a devastating punch to the Heartless's head. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the creature's body, cracking the candy shell around its skull. Dark energy swirled from the cracks, but the Candy Calamity wasn't done yet.

Below, Sonic saw the opportunity. As the Heartless staggered from Carol's blow, its arm dropped low. Seizing the moment, Sonic launched himself into another Homing Attack, aiming for the exposed arm. His body collided with the creature's candy-coated limb, followed by another rapid series of Phantom Rush strikes. Each hit chipped away at the Heartless's defenses, causing more of its candy armor to crumble away.

"Almost there!" Sonic yelled, dodging a swing from the Heartless's other arm. "Just a little more!"

But the Candy Calamity wasn't going down without a fight. In a desperate move, the Heartless opened its chest wide once more, releasing an even larger barrage of candy missiles. This time, the sky darkened as dozens of missiles rained down from above, their sugary surfaces glistening with dark energy.

Carol's eyes widened as she saw the incoming barrage.

"Oh, come on! This thing just doesn't quit!" she moaned.

Without missing a beat, she charged up a cosmic punch, aiming straight for the center of the barrage. She soared into the air, her fist glowing with immense power, and with one mighty swing, she punched through the incoming missiles, detonating them in a brilliant explosion of light and candy fragments.

"Gotcha!" Carol grinned, but her victory was short-lived.

The ground beneath Sonic's feet began to crack even further, the battlefield buckling under the intensity of the fight. More molten chocolate spilled out from the fissures, and the shockwaves from the Heartless's stomps grew stronger.

Eggman's voice crackled over the PA system, this time with a hint of panic.

"Attention! Guests, please evacuate the area immediately! Our star Heartless attraction seems to be... suffering from some technical difficulties. We are NOT liable for any chocolate-related injuries!"

"Technical Difficulties? More like going berserk!" Sonic muttered, barely dodging another wave of molten chocolate as he dashed to higher ground.

The Candy Calamity let out another roar, raising both of its massive candy-coated arms high above its head. Its body glowed with dark energy as it prepared for one final, devastating attack.

"Carol! We've gotta end this, now!" Sonic called out, his voice urgent.

"On it, Hedgehog!" Carol shouted back, her eyes glowing with cosmic energy as she hovered high above the battlefield, fists clenched and ready to strike.

The Candy Calamity, its once-immense form now battered and cracked, let out a final enraged roar. Its yellow eyes flickered, dark energy swirling violently around its candy-covered body. In a desperate move, the Heartless began to spin its massive arms, whipping up a vortex of molten chocolate, candy debris, and sugary chaos.

"Watch out!" Sonic shouted as the Candy Cyclone tore across the battlefield, pulling in everything around it. The vortex sent chocolate splattering and shards of hardened candy flying through the air. Sonic's instincts kicked in—he had to avoid the storm.

Without hesitation, Sonic dashed forward, activating the Drill Wisp. His body glowed with energy as he transformed into a drill-shaped blur, diving underground just as the cyclone surged past. Beneath the surface, he burrowed through the chocolate-soaked earth, timing his movements to re-emerge at the right moment.

Above, Carol flew high to avoid being pulled into the swirling vortex of candy and chocolate. Her eyes narrowed as she saw the Heartless building up more energy, its body spinning faster, growing more unstable.

"Come on, you oversized piñata, you're going down," she muttered, dodging chunks of debris with precise aerial maneuvers.

Sonic burst out from the ground behind the Candy Calamity, its vulnerable legs exposed as the cyclone slowed.

"Now's my chance!" Sonic shouted.

He shot forward in a blur, launching into a perfectly timed Homing Attack. His body collided with the Heartless's weakened leg, followed by a rapid series of Phantom Rush strikes, each hit chipping away more of its frosting-covered armor.

The Heartless staggered, its legs buckling as it lost its balance. But it wasn't done yet.

With a furious growl, the Candy Calamity raised both of its fists high above its head. Dark energy pulsed from its core as it prepared for a final, devastating blow. The Heartless slammed both fists into the ground, creating massive craters of molten chocolate and sending out powerful waves of dark energy that rippled across the battlefield.

"Whoa!" Sonic shouted, barely dodging the massive energy wave as it ripped through the ground. He leaped to higher ground, his feet barely touching the cracked earth as he moved.

Carol, flying above, watched as the Heartless gathered its remaining dark energy. The air around it pulsed with raw power, and she knew it was preparing for a final attack.

"Not on my watch," she muttered, her fists glowing brighter with cosmic energy.

Suddenly, the Candy Calamity opened its chest wide, revealing the swirling vortex of dark energy at its core. A massive beam of dark energy shot out from its chest, targeting both Sonic and Carol in a desperate last-ditch effort to finish them off.

"Move, Sonic!" Carol shouted, diving through the air as the beam tore through the sky.

She raised her hands, firing a series of photon blasts to intercept the beam. Each blast collided with the dark energy, deflecting it just enough to keep the beam from reaching its target.

Sonic dashed around the battlefield, dodging the scattered remnants of the Candy Cyclone and the molten chocolate that still bubbled across the ground.

"Alright, big guy, time to wrap this up!" Sonic yelled as he leaped into the air.

With the Candy Calamity distracted by Carol's photon blasts, Sonic seized the moment. The familiar cyan glow of the Laser Wisp surged through him, and he transformed into a streak of pure energy.

"LASER!" the voice echoed as Sonic shot forward, his laser form zipping straight through the Heartless.

The beam pierced through the creature, shattering the dark energy within. The Candy Calamity let out a deafening roar as cracks spread across its candy-encrusted body, dark energy leaking out.

Carol wasn't done yet. As Sonic's laser form blasted through the Heartless, she charged her fists with the full force of her cosmic energy.

"Time to finish this!" she shouted as she rocketed toward the Candy Calamity's head.

With one final, powerful cosmic punch, Carol slammed into the Heartless's skull, shattering its candy-coated head in an explosion of dark energy and sugar.

The Candy Calamity let out a final, pitiful growl as its body crumbled, the dark energy within it dissipating into the air. Its candy-coated limbs shattered, dissolving into molten chocolate and frosting as the battlefield finally fell silent.

Sonic landed gracefully out of his Laser Form, dusting himself off as the last bits of candy debris settled around him.

"Well, that was sweet," he quipped, grinning as he looked up at Carol.

Carol hovered above for a moment before touching down beside him, her fists still glowing faintly.

"Not bad, Hedgehog," she admitted.

Sonic chuckled, flashing her a confident thumbs-up.

Suddenly, the PA system crackled to life one last time, and Eggman's voice, now dripping with sarcasm and frustration, echoed across the battlefield.

"Well, there goes our star attraction. I hope you're proud of yourselves, ruining the show. Ugh, I'll need a lot of candy to cheer me up after this. Enjoy your victory—while it lasts."

Sonic shook his head, laughing.

"Typical Egghead. Always a sore loser," he mocked.

"Well, if he needs more candy, I think we left him plenty to work with," Carol remarked with a smirk.

Sonic stretched his arms behind his head, casually looking toward the horizon.

"Alright, let's find Tails and see what kind of mess we've got to clean up next," he said with determination.

With that, Sonic dashed off in a blur, leaving the battlefield behind. Carol took to the air, her cosmic energy shimmering around her as she flew alongside him. They had to regroup with Tails—and stop whatever Eggman was cooking up on the next planet anchored to the theme park.

RANK: S

Sometime later, Sonic and Carol arrived at the Transport Link Platform, where they found Tails tinkering with his device, Yacker hovering excitedly around him. The young fox was engrossed in his work, eyes glued to the screen as data streamed in.

Sonic grinned as he jogged over, coming to a stop in front of Tails.

"Tails, you missed the BBBE!" Sonic announced, a wide grin on his face.

Tails blinked, looking up in confusion.

"BBBE?" he asked.

"Best Boss Beating Ever," Sonic declared, puffing out his chest proudly.

Tails glanced at Sonic and Carol, giving them a deadpan look.

"Well, from what I can tell, you two pretty much trashed the park," he remarked.

Carol crossed her arms, smirking as she exchanged a glance with Sonic.

"Hey, it's not our fault. Eggman's the one who decided to bring out the giant candy monster," she replied.

"Yeah, Egghead's got some weird taste in bosses," Sonic added with a shrug.

Tails shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips as he adjusted his device.

"Well, while you two were busy smashing up amusement park attractions and destroying Heartless, I've been gathering more intel from Yacker."

Yacker chirped excitedly, floating in front of the group, his rapid chatter unintelligible to everyone except Tails' device.

"Oh really?" Sonic asked. "What kind of info has Yacker given you—or, you know, whatever he's spouting?"

Tails scratched his head, still tapping away on his device.

"First off, remember, this translation stuff isn't 100% accurate," he admitted.

Carol smirked, "Oh, we know."

"Trust us, we remember," Sonic added with a playful grin, recalling the earlier translation mishaps.

Tails chuckled before continuing.

"Anyway, these aliens—Wisps—they're made up of a really powerful energy source called Hyper-go-ons. It's inside of them."

"Like a battery?" Sonic asked, folding his arms.

Tails hesitated, trying to explain it more clearly.

"No… well, sort of. It's their life source. You only got a taste of it, and look what happened. Calling it a 'battery' is kind of an understatement." He paused, then chuckled. "The funny thing is, the first time I tried translating it, it came through as 'horrible body odor.'"

Sonic sniffed his own armpit and pulled a face.

"Well, I hope it wasn't talking about me," he joked.

Carol chuckled at Sonic's antics before turning serious.

"So, Eggman's using this energy, right? That definitely can't be good," she affirmed.

Tails nodded as he replied, "Yeah, he's draining all their power. But the big question is—what for?"

Sonic's expression brightened as he remembered something.

"Wait, Cubot said something earlier… something about a 'grand finale'."

Yacker let out another excited string of chirps, waving his tiny arms animatedly. Tails' device beeped as it processed the new information, and Tails squinted at the translation.

"Let's see… Yacker says Eggman's draining all their power for an evil… aquatic mammal?" Tails frowned in confusion. "An evil dolphin? No, wait… a porpoise! Oh, here we go—an evil purpose."

Sonic rolled his eyes.

"Figures. Classic Eggman," he sighed.

Carol crossed her arms as she chimed in, "That's some solid intel. We should head to the next part of the park. We can figure out more on the way."

"Good idea," Tails agreed, still fiddling with his device as Yacker chirped in approval. "There's definitely more going on than we thought."

As they walked toward the transportation pod, Sonic cracked a grin.

"Well, at least we get to see more of Eggman's 'grand' amusement park. Hopefully, the next ride's less sticky."

"I wouldn't hold my breath..." Carol sighed.

The group boarded the transport pod, settling in as it prepared to take them to their next destination—Starlight Carnival. The pod whirred to life, and as it began to move, the trio continued chatting, discussing Eggman's twisted plan while Yacker hovered happily nearby, their mission far from over.

Another chapter done and Sweet Mountain world completed.

Thanks for all the comments, faves and follows. Much appreciated.

Starlight Carnival is the next stop. I will be looking to get started on this after I finish Roxas's story on the KH II BBE project first. The Fourth Day - Part 1 has been released. Part 2 out in a few days.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Again, thanks for all the support.
