Chapter 6: Sweet Mountain - Act 2

Sweet Mountain - Act 2

Music: Sweet Mountain Act 1 - Sonic Colors

Sonic's legs were already moving at breakneck speed, his iconic grin plastered across his face as the candy-coated landscape of Sweet Mountain blurred past him. Loops of liquorice and chocolate hills whizzed by in a swirl of sugar, but Sonic had no time to admire the bizarre scenery. He had a mission—reach the generator, free the Wisps, and take down Eggman's latest sugar-coated scheme.

But of course, Eggman wasn't going to make it easy.

WHOOOOOSH!

A giant jellybean-filled missile sailed through the air, landing with a sticky explosion just inches from Sonic's feet. The impact sent candy pieces flying everywhere, but Sonic just laughed as he zipped around the incoming barrage.

"Gotta do better than that, Egghead!" he called out, his voice carried by the wind.

The missiles didn't stop, though. Sonic raced ahead, the ground trembling beneath him as giant jellybean bombs were launched from candy-coated towers in the distance.

Dodging left and right, Sonic hit a sharp corner and began drifting effortlessly around the curve, leaving a trail of blue light behind him. He grinned as he felt the wind rush against his quills. Drifting was one of his favourite moves, and Sweet Mountain was full of sharp turns just waiting to be conquered.

Suddenly, the PA system crackled to life overhead, and Eggman's overly cheery voice echoed across the candy-coated landscape.

"Attention guests! Please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times—except for Sonic the Hedgehog, who's about to be blown to bits! Mwahaha!"

Sonic rolled his eyes but couldn't help but smirk.

"Always with the jokes, huh, Eggman?"

More missiles slammed into the ground behind him, sending clouds of sugar and jellybeans scattering into the air. Sonic dodged effortlessly, zigzagging between candy platforms and loops. His sharp eyes spotted a group of Sugar Shadows— the candy-themed Heartless—lurking on the upcoming path, ready to block his way.

"Time for some real action!" Sonic grinned, leaping into the air and curling into a ball. He launched into a Spin Dash, cutting through the Sugar Shadows with ease, sending their sticky remains flying in all directions.

"Too slow!" he quipped as he landed smoothly, not losing an ounce of momentum.

Ahead, Sonic spotted another sharp curve, but this time, the ground was lined with moving candy conveyor belts. Without missing a beat, Sonic drifted around the corner, his feet skidding across the candy-coated ground as he sped around the loop. As he came out of the drift, he launched into a quick Homing Attack, targeting nearby Caramel Crushers. Sonic's attack sent him zipping from one target to the next, delivering a series of devastating blows.

Sonic landed, just as the ground trembled beneath him again. A massive missile launcher came into view, towering above the candy terrain, its jellybean-filled warheads locked onto Sonic's position.

"Seriously? More missiles?" Sonic groaned. He glanced ahead and saw the entrance to an underground tunnel, marked by towering chocolate boulders. "Well, time to dig a little deeper!"

Just as Sonic prepared to dash forward, a glow caught his eye. A capsule holding a yellow Wisp hovered just ahead, its bright light calling to him. Without wasting a second, Sonic spun into action, smashing the capsule open with ease, freeing the small alien inside.

"Hey, little guy! Looks like you're coming with me!" Sonic grinned, his confidence never faltering.

In an instant, the Yellow Wisp chirped and entered Sonic's body, merging with him in a flash of vibrant energy. Sonic felt the surge of power coursing through him, his entire form glowing with newfound strength. Then, as the energy intensified, the familiar bodiless voice echoed through the air, louder and more commanding than ever:

"DRILL!"

Sonic transformed into his new Drill form, a high-speed tunnel-digging machine. With a grin, he dove underground.

Burrowing deep beneath Sweet Mountain, Sonic could feel the rush of energy as he drilled through walls of candy-coated rock. The underground tunnels were tight, filled with hidden paths and goodies just waiting to be discovered. Sonic zoomed through chambers lined with golden rings, zipping between walls and drilling through anything that dared stand in his way.

WHOOOM!

Sonic burst through a hidden wall, landing in a secret chamber filled with golden rings, and several Wisp capsules.

"Jackpot!" Sonic grinned, collecting the Rings in one swift motion. He freed the Wisps, who chirped happily before disappearing.

The tunnels weren't without danger, though. As Sonic sped through the underground chambers, more Heartless lurked in the shadows. Sugar Shadows darted out from narrow crevices, trying to latch onto Sonic with their liquorice limbs. But Sonic's Drill form was too fast for them—he zipped right through, leaving the sticky creatures behind.

Deeper into the underground, Sonic ran into a Caramel Crusher, their massive fists barely fitting in the narrow space. The Heartless swung wildly, hoping to smash him, but Sonic dodged, his reflexes sharper than ever.

"Nice try!" he shouted, drilling into the ground and remerging behind it.

With a quick burst of speed, Sonic spun into the Caramel Crusher, sending it flying back into the candy wall before it crumbled into a mess of caramel and darkness.

"That's what you get for messing with me!" Sonic remarked.

He drilled deeper, zipping through the underground maze and discovering hidden tunnels. After passing through the tunnels collecting more gold rings, Sonic burst through the ground, launching himself back to the surface in a dazzling display of speed and light.

"Back in action!" Sonic declared as he landed on his feet, the Drill Wisp's energy fading.

The generator was still far off in the distance, but Sonic could already see the massive structure looming over the horizon. The hedgehog ran off once more, ready for the next challenge.

Sonic rushed into the next section of Sweet Mountain, and it was nothing but pure speed for the Blue Blur.

The hedgehog could feel the adrenaline kicking in as he hit a series of speed ramps, launching him across candy bridges and through loops made of liquorice vines. Missiles continued to rain down from above, fired from the distant pirate ship captained by none other than Captain Jelly. Sonic couldn't help but laugh as the barrage intensified.

"Come on, Captain Jelly! I'm just getting warmed up!" Sonic called out, dodging a missile that exploded in a shower of jellybeans.

The PA system crackled again, Eggman's voice dripping with sarcasm.

"We'd like to remind all guests to watch out for rogue missiles. And by 'all guests,' I mean Sonic! Haha! Have a nice trip… straight to oblivion!"

Sonic rolled his eyes, "Yeah, we'll see about that", he remarked.

As he sped forward, Sonic encountered another swarm of Heartless, this time appearing in the middle of his high-speed run. He launched into his Sonic Wind attack, a swirling vortex of energy that tore through the enemies like a hurricane. The Sugar Shadows were swept into the air, disintegrating into dark mist as the powerful gusts ripped them apart.

Sonic continued to smash into a few more enemies, sending them back to the darkness, before hitting another speed ramp. The jellybean missiles continued to explode all around him, leaving craters in the candy terrain, but Sonic was too fast. He darted through the chaos, his feet barely touching the ground as he raced toward the heart of Sweet Mountain.

As he rushed along, Sonic could see it now—the massive generator towering over the candy-coated landscape, whirring ominously. The machine was surrounded by a series of candy-themed defences: candy cane barriers, liquorice vines, and conveyor belts carrying captured Wisps straight into the heart of the infernal contraption. It was a twisted blend of Eggman's technology and the sugary absurdity of Sweet Mountain.

"I've got you now, Eggman," Sonic muttered, narrowing his eyes, his focus locked onto the generator.

The final stretch before the generator was treacherous. The winding path was littered with sharp curves and hazards. Sonic drifted around the tight corners, his feet sliding expertly as candy bombs rained down from above, launched by Eggman's automated turrets. Giant vines made of sticky liquorice reached out to entangle him, but Sonic was too fast. His reflexes kicked in as he ducked and weaved between the obstacles, the chaos only fuelling his adrenaline.

Just as Sonic dodged another barrage of candy bombs, Eggman's gleeful voice blared from the park's PA system, dripping with mockery.

"Welcome to the grand finale, folks!" Eggman's voice rang out, sinister and sarcastic. "Sonic's about to become nothing but a smear on Sweet Mountain! And don't forget to buy some snacks on your way out—this might be your last chance! Mwahaha!"

Sonic smirked, "You're gonna have to do better than that, Egghead."

Ahead, the final wave of defences appeared: a swarm of Eggman's robotic minions and the candy-themed Heartless, blocking the path to the generator. They lined up in neat formation, ready to overwhelm Sonic with sheer numbers. But Sonic's grin only widened.

"Time to wrap this up!"

Without a second thought, Sonic launched into his Spin Dash, curling into a ball and plowing straight through the line of enemies. The force of the attack sent robots and Heartless flying, their candy-coated armour shattering like brittle sugar under the impact. Sonic zipped between them, smashing through the ranks with ease, each enemy crumbling in his wake.

"Outta my way!" Sonic shouted as he delivered the final blow to the last Heartless, sending it spiralling into a candy pillar, which exploded in a burst of sugary dark dust.

With the path clear, Sonic looked ahead at the generator—his final target. It loomed over him, powered by the energy of the captured Wisps. He narrowed his eyes, his mind racing. He needed to take it out fast, and he knew exactly how to do it.

As if on cue, the Yellow Wisp appeared by his side, glowing with its usual cheerful energy. Sonic grinned.

"Hey, buddy, ready for one last ride?" he asked with a friendly tone.

The Wisp chirped in agreement and dove into Sonic, fusing with him in a burst of radiant energy. Sonic's body glowed brightly as the power of the Wisp coursed through him. The familiar bodiless voice boomed once again, louder and more triumphant this time:

"DRILL!"

In an instant, Sonic transformed into a high-speed, spiralling drill, his entire form turning into a blur of yellow energy. With the precision of a missile, he shot downwards, burrowing underground at lightning speed. The ground trembled as Sonic tore through the cake based earth beneath the generator, his Drill form moving faster and faster, carving a direct path to the heart of the machine.

Underground, Sonic could hear the whirring of the generator growing louder as he approached it. The vibrations from the drill intensified, and Sonic could feel the rush of power surging through him. With pinpoint accuracy, he shot upward, bursting out of the ground directly beneath the generator.

WHOOOM!

Sonic drilled upward into the machine, piercing through its defences like butter. Sparks flew, gears screeched, and the towering structure began to collapse from within. The powerful drill ripped through the core of the generator, tearing apart wires and circuits, sending it into a violent, self-destructive frenzy.

The generator let out a deafening roar as it exploded in a dazzling shower of sparks and debris. The force of the explosion sent pieces of the machine flying in every direction, but Sonic was already out of range, landing gracefully as his Drill form faded. He stood back, watching the generator crumble into a heap of broken parts, its candy-themed outer shell dissolving into sugary dust.

The moment the generator collapsed, the captured Wisps were freed. They soared into the sky with joyful chirps, their bright colors painting the horizon as they scattered to safety. Sonic watched them fly, a satisfied smile on his face.

Suddenly, Eggman's voice cut through the air once more, but this time it was filled with rage.

"NOOO! You little pest! How dare you destroy my generator?! You have no idea what you've done!" Eggman screeched, his usual smugness replaced by pure frustration. "Captain Jelly, take out this nasty, little blue pincushion!"

Sonic glanced upward at Captain Jelly's ship, still hovering high in the sky, its candy-themed cannons and pirate crew waiting for their next move. He crossed his arms and chuckled, undeterred by the threat.

"Egghead, you throw everything at me, and I'm still standing," Sonic called out with a smirk. "You really ought to work on some new material." He tapped his foot, the usual confidence brimming in his voice. "And Captain Jelly? Bring him on. I'm ready for anything you got!"

The ship loomed overhead, but no new assault came. Sonic could sense Eggman's frustration mounting—whatever plan the villain had left would have to wait for another time. With the generator destroyed and the Heartless beaten, Sonic knew the job was done.

As the dust settled and the freed Wisps fluttered happily into the sky, Sonic's green eyes were drawn to a familiar sight up ahead—the glowing, spinning Goal Ring, hovering just beyond the wreckage of the generator. It pulsed with bright colors, inviting him to finish the stage in style, just like he always did.

"Looks like the grand finale's over," Sonic grinned.

Without hesitation, Sonic dashed toward the Goal Ring, his feet barely touching the ground as he sprinted across the candy-coated battlefield. The wind rushed past him, the thrill of victory still fresh in his mind. In one fluid motion, he leaped into the air, flipping through the ring with his signature speed and style.

The Goal Ring spun rapidly as Sonic passed through it, the triumphant sound of success echoing across Sweet Mountain. The brightly coloured ring shimmered in the aftermath of Sonic's swift completion of his run.

Landing smoothly on the other side of the ring, Sonic slid to a stop and threw up a confident victory pose.

"Another mission down, more Wisps saved," he said to himself, his tone as casual as ever.

RANK: S

Sonic glanced up to the orange-tinted skies of Sweet Mountain as the familiar silhouette of Captain Jelly's candy-coated airship began to approach. The oversized gingerbread and candy vessel loomed above the landscape, its sails made of sugar wafers and its cannons ready to fire. Captain Jelly stood proudly on the deck, his jellybean-shaped body swaying as the ship turned to face Sonic directly. With his lollipop sword in hand, he pointed the sugary blade toward the hedgehog below.

"Arrr! Ye'll pay for destroyin' me generator, ye blue scallywag!" Captain Jelly bellowed, his voice dripping with pirate bravado.

Sonic raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed.

"Right… okay," he said, folding his arms as he watched the airship hover above him. "Whatever you say, pal!"

Captain Jelly wasn't deterred by Sonic's indifference. He waved his lollipop sword dramatically.

"Fire the cannons!" he roared. "Send 'im to the depths o' the candy sea!"

Before the cannons could fire, however, a sudden and powerful energy blast slammed into the side of the airship, causing it to shake violently. The force of the blast sent jellybean missiles scattering in all directions, exploding mid-air in bursts of colourful debris.

Captain Jelly stumbled across the deck, flailing to regain his balance.

"What in the name of the seven seas?! Who dares attack me ship?!" he demanded, turning to his crew of robotic pirates for answers.

Sonic, meanwhile, looked around, scanning the skies until he spotted the familiar figure of Captain Marvel, flying overhead with her fists still glowing from the energy blast she'd just fired.

"About time you showed up, Danvers!" Sonic called out with a grin, clearly enjoying the moment.

Carol flew above the battlefield, her eyes locked onto the wobbling airship as she smirked.

"Couldn't let you have all the fun, hedgehog," she quipped, before turning her attention to Captain Jelly's ship, her fists glowing once again with cosmic energy.

From the deck of the ship, Captain Jelly wobbled, staring at the flying Captain Marvel with a mix of confusion and rage. He pointed his lollipop sword toward her, shouting in pirate lingo, "Arrr! Prepare to attack the flying wench!"

"Wench? Rude!" Carol snapped, energy crackling around her fists as she readied for round two.

Sonic shook his head, chuckling down below.

"You've really gotta stop using the pirate talk, buddy," he remarked.

The airship, sensing the immediate threat of Captain Marvel, began to speed off, its candy-coated engines sputtering as it made a quick retreat. But Carol wasn't about to let them get away so easily. She shot forward, taking off after the ship, her form glowing as she flew in hot pursuit.

Sonic watched as Captain Marvel gave chase, knowing that the airship's escape wouldn't last long.

"Well, looks like Carol's got this one covered," he said to himself, satisfied with the outcome.

The next stage was set, and it was Captain Marvel's turn to take the lead.
