Cecilia's Second history class
Pokemon is not mine.
AN: first the dates. The number part comes from using the english release year for the games as I headcanon when the story takes place is the same year. Remakes don't count as they're supose to take place at the same time but in a differnt world. Second As i doubt someone like Jesus Christ was in the Pokemon world I use Before common era(BCE) and Common Era(CE).
"Greetings, students. What happened yesterday is now in the past," Raifort told the class. Today, we will continue to explore the wonders that history offers us," she chuckled.
Cecilia was still deciding whether it was something to laugh about. She had never found history fascinating; to her, it was simply a narrative crafted by those who could write rather than speak. Once it was documented, it appeared that it was all people knew or even remembered.
"Now we jump to 3,000-2,000 years ago. 988 BCE is our first stop. The location is in the northern part of Kalos. There is no record of if it was called something else." Raifort sniffed in annoyance as if having no record of something was insulting. "It was ruled at this time by a family with two sons, the eldest known today as AZ, and the younger one whose name has been lost or erased."
There were gasps from those who were either Kalosian or had spent a few years in Kalos and had heard the story. Nemona looked at Cecilia silently, asking, 'Who is AZ, and can I battle him?' Cecilia didn't answer.
"During this time, Kalos was at war. Unfortunately, there is little to no record of what happened during this period, so the opponent's identity is unknown. Historians believe it was either the region known as Galar or within Kalos itself," Raifort said, still annoyed that there was lost history that no one seems to know. "Those at the time wanted to use unique Pokémon as tools of war, and the young king's Pokémon, a Floette, was taken by soldiers. After some unknown time, he received a tiny box."
The students were trying not to cry; Cecilia was the only one who wasn't.
"Afterward, he constructed a machine that managed to revive Floette. However, still consumed by anger, he turned it into a weapon that ultimately ended the war." Raifort seemed eager to locate it and test its life-restoring abilities: "Legend has it that AZ began traveling the world in search of the Pokémon that had left him. I would do anything to encounter a living relic."
'You won't be meeting him; he has vanished. That was accurate, but there was more to the story that only a select few would know.' Cecilia thought, 'Mother would be relieved and sad.'
"A few years later, around 981 in Galar, the sky turned into a storm where Pokémon grew gigantic. This event would later be known as the Darkest Day." Raifort said, "A hero rose up wielding a sword and a shield to battle the storm, emerged victorious, and eventually became king. If the book "Galar: A History" provides a more accurate account of the story, then two nobles teamed up with two Pokémon to defeat the Pokémon that caused the storm."
The Galarian students appeared annoyed, as the historians documenting their region's history only recently acknowledged Professor Sonia's book.
"Those Pokémon are Zacian and Zamazenta. They rested after the battle in the hot spring, now in Circhester. Then, they went to sleep in the Slumbering Weald, and the nobles were crowned kings," Raifort said. "Now, young Cecilia, which region is believed to be at war with Kalos?"
"Galar." Came the monotone answer.
"Correct, Galar and Kalos seem connected throughout history, as if disasters striking the regions only a decade apart." Raifort chuckled; clearly, she thought history was repeating within the two regions.
Cecilia, who had experienced the most recent disasters in both regions, reluctantly agreed. She knew Nemona wanted to learn about the events, the Pokémon involved, and whether they could be battled.
"Now, for history that is part of this region, this is 2,000 years from now, circa 22 CE, when the Paldean Empire came to rule. The historical record describes the emperor at the time as quite the dictator." Raifort had now gotten to Paldean history. "Like the people of our time or maybe because of his time, he believes rather zealously in the legend of the treasure of Area Zero."
'So, just like Sinnoh is named after one of Arceus' names, this region may be named after a group that inhabited it,' Cecilia thought, noticing the similarity. 'And this happened around 1,000 years after the Kalosian war. I wonder if he had something to do with the empire, though I doubt it.'
Raifort continued, unaware of Cecilia's thoughts. "I must mention that the civilization of the time wasn't as developed as ours, though the nature of AZ's weapon is up to debate thanks to recent events." the last part was muttered. "People of that time were likelier to believe in mysterious legends, magic, and being beyond human comprehension."
Cecilia mentally snorted; her Oba-san and, to some extent, her mother and sometimes herself were like that.
"To gain the power to stand against the empire's neighboring counties, the Emporer sent droves of people into the crater to hunt for said fabled treasure," Raifort said. "Another perfect timing, young Cecilia, answer me this: how many years ago was when the Paldean Empire began to rule this region?"
Cecilia was surprised when the teacher used the word 'countries' but answered, "2,000." 'Country' wasn't a common term; most people used 'region' to describe land.
"Heh, that is correct," Raifort smirked. "You are surprisingly clever. I see you're listening to my lecture. 2,000 years is the correct answer; this is also when the Great Era of Exploration began. However, no adventurer is said to reach Area Zero's depths."
'Since you would have mentioned if it had been found, it hasn't been found, if ever,' Cecilia recalled that in the first class, it was mentioned that no treasure had been found, which also meant it might still be there if it existed.
"Was it the challenging journey or an unknown creature that blocked their way?" Raifort asked. "This failure of the so-called 'Great' Era certainly added to the mysterious atmosphere of the crater. I would have loved to explore Area Zero in its original, untouched state," their teacher said, sounding disappointed as if her birthday had been canceled.
Nemona looked at Cecilia excitedly, thinking there might be an unknown Pokemon in the crater. Still, they couldn't enter to find it.
"I'll wait and hope for a time machine," Raifort mused, partly joking. The bell chose that moment to ring, signaling the end of the class. "Oh, is that the time already? I must have gotten swept up in filling your minds with knowledge. This ends the lesson. We'll unravel more of history's enigmas together next time," she said as she waved them off.
'If there is a time machine, I'm not letting you go near it.' Cecilia thought. 'nor anything from Kalos.'
That was a lot of historical information.
AN: I am not sure If Kalos was called anything else during AZ time so I left it as if there was no record of if it was and sence we don't know his younger brother's name either he is still unnamed. if we get it when Legends ZA cames out i wil up date it and maybe add something about the story of ZA if it takes place enough in the past. Also I can't help think that AZ and his kingdom where the Poke-world version of the Gauls if we take the date I use as ture it would fit and the Paldean empire might be the Roman one. i can't remember if the Kalosian war was a cival war or a war agents an other region so debate on which what i went with.
Sonia's book is only now considered right most don't want to believe it as it it conficks with what history had said, but it is slowing getting there.
the Celestic people come to Hisui between the end of the war and Paldean empire as seperate fact. Remember Raifort is covering some of the history in the western part of poke- euorpe mostly Paldea's but some from Galar or if need be Kalos.
