Cecilia second Home Ec class

Pokemon is not mine

"Put away your phones; it is time to begin class," Saguaro called. Most of the class did, except Arven and Cecilia, who didn't have phones out. "I Believe in our last class, I went over flavor and how salt or sugar enhances it."

A couple of yes's came from the class.

"Today's class will be less fun or tasty: we will cover budgeting," Saguaro revealed to many groans. Cecilia sat up more; this class would be helpful to her. While she knew the basics, like not spending money on useless things, a refresher and more explanation might help in the long run. "I know, I know. This will help, I promise you all."

'Then let the lesson begin,' Cecilia thought, getting out some paper. 'Step-grandma probably had to learn this.'

"Alright, I will review at least five ways to help with budgeting. Some might apply to all or some of you, but they will be helpful in the future," Saguaro reassured the class. "First, figure out how much you have at the end of the week; this might change, so keep an eye on it. The next point will be different for everyone. That is, decide how much money should be put into things, such as needs, wants, and emergencies."

"Needs, like what?" one of the younger students asked.

Saguaro appeared hesitant about responding due to the student's age but answered, "For instance, we need to have enough for sandwiches."

"Okay."

'That is all you have to worry about now, kid.'

"The third part involves tracking the money being distributed and identifying costs that can be cut. The fourth part is setting everything up; I believe automation and input from those in STEM can provide better explanations than I can," Saguaro said, and the course participants nodded in agreement. "Finally, practice all these and make adjustments to ensure smooth operation."

Cecilia tried to write down what their teacher was saying. She had never really thought about budgeting when she was younger, but had to learn a bit when she was twelve. Cecilia had gotten around the food part by foraging and growing her own food.

"There are ways of helping, to not spend much on food such as growing your own food, like vegetables, " their teacher suggested. "However, sometimes you are out in the wild and not near a Pokemon Center. There is something you can do. What is that?"

"Find some water?" A student guessed

"While that can be helpful, I would like to clarify my question," the teacher sighed before looking around for a student. "Master Cecilia, besides looking for water, what else can you do when lost in the wild?"

"Forage for berries," Cecilia answered.

"That is the answer I was seeking," Saguaro smiled. "I see you're well-versed in survival techniques."

'Unfortunately,' Cecilia thought while nodding.

"It's important to know what grows and is edible around where you are, as foraging was how our ancestors survived," Saguaro said. "Berries aren't sold in shops here in Paldea, so looking around is the best way to find some."

The bell rang at that moment, signaling the end of class.

"Ah, the bell demands the end to our topics. Our time has ended for the day. I bid you all farewell." Saguaro waved them away.

AN: Short chapter. I know I haven't taken a Home Ec Class before, so this class will be out there with topics that are the most changed class from the game. Bio and battle studies came in second.
