So I always found it strange how HB was with Gabrielle. At least when it comes to Amelia she is much more respectful than with anyone else, but she seemed desperate to get rid of Gabrielle. Just a little theory this was going on. Enjoy

I Love You Too Amelia

Gabrielle entered the Potions lab and stopped as she saw Constance sitting at her desk, head low and leaning her hand on her chin. Realising she was interrupting, Gabrielle turned away to give the teacher some space but hit against a desk loudly. Constance looked up, saw who it was and wiped at her eyes.

"I am sorry I didn't know you would be here" Gabrielle replied nervously. Constance said nothing in response and Gabrielle walked nearer to her.

"My tutor always tells me there is little that can't be solved through honest and open conversation" Gabrielle said.

"Is that what they teach at teacher training these days?" Constance replied but without much authority.

"Would you like me to go get my auntie?" Gabrielle asked, knowing she would be better at dealing with this.

"No...I am alright Miss Gribble" HB replied.

"Well I am going next week, so anything you tell me won't be passed on" Gabrielle said, not knowing the woman well, but knowing finding her upset was serious.

"I doubt that you would understand" HB replied not giving anything away.

"I understand more than you think, I think it might be best to talk" Gabrielle replied.

"How did I miss you are Amelia's niece? She never gives up either" Constance replied, having had the exact same conversation with the student's aunt on more than one occasion when she nagged her to tell her something.

"I just don't like to see anyone suffer" Gabrielle said.

With a sigh HB shrugged, she had a feeling she wouldn't leave until she told her something.

"I am dealing with emotions I have never felt before" HB revealed.

"Positive or negative?" Gabrielle asked her.

"Negative...I don't feel there is a point in trying to maintain it anymore, I am dealing with feelings of jealously" HB admitted.

"Towards who?" Gabrielle asked.

"You" Constance said

"Me?" Gabrielle asked confused. Was it after what happened with the third years? That they seemed to listen to her?

"You might think I don't feel anything Miss Gribble, but I have worked with your auntie a long time and...I have never been able to put my trust in anyone else, however you are her blood relative, which is not something I normally have to compete against" Constance explained.

Gabrielle only looked at her a few moments before she couldn't help it, she burst into laughter.

"Miss Gribble, control yourself!" HB said, regretting saying anything.

"I am sorry it's just...I can't believe you convinced yourself that matters, Auntie Amelia loves you, the only two topics she talks about at family get togethers are her school and her deputy, I don't think she realises she does it quite so much though" Gabrielle revealed.

Constance took in what she was told and gulped, now just wanting to leave.

"I am sorry for being hard on you Miss Gribble" HB said and without another word she vanished away.

"I have been a fool" HB said to Amelia ten minutes later.

"How so Constance?" Amelia asked her.

"I treated Gabrielle badly for being your niece" HB replied. Amelia eyed her confused.

"I am ashamed to admit I allowed myself to feel the disgusting emotion of jealously, I am used to us being together at school, I was not sure how that would work with your family here" Constance admitted.

Amelia slapped her forehead. Why did she not think of this before? At school Constance was her right hand woman, she didn't have to worry about that coming under threat from anyone else, the only person who could was someone closer to Amelia...like her family.

"I am sorry Constance I am partly to blame, I shouldn't have hid Gabrielle's identity from you and introduced you earlier" Amelia replied, sitting next to her.

"I am sorry for letting my emotions get the best of me" Constance replied.

"Constance, you don't need to be sorry...yes I love Gabrielle as she is my niece but that doesn't change the face I love you too, even if Gabrielle worked here full time it would change nothing, you can love people outside of family, and you are as good as these days. Your place here, and our relationship will not change" Amelia told her firmly, knowing she needed that reassurance. Amelia knew she had no-one else, she needed to know the one person she had was not going to ditch her for someone else.

Constance wiped at her eyes again, relief flooding her insides. "I….love you too Amelia" Constance said, realising how strange them words sounded as she choked them out.

Amelia cried gently herself, she knew how she felt before, but had never thought she could never bring herself to say it out loud. She pulled her into a hug, holding her close.

Constance wiped her eyes, feeling safe, with Amelia, the only person she ever felt truly felt safe with. She knew she was right, nothing would change.
