[FLASHBACK]

In the grand courtyard of Belos's castle, Coven Scouts and Guards lined up, ready for training. The sharp clinks of armor and whispers of the wind were the only sounds that echoed through the air until Vanitas sauntered to the center of the field. Underneath his mask, he gleamed with a mischievous spark. He waved his hand dismissively, and the murmurs died down. He then turned to Pete, who was standing on the sidelines.

Vanitas: Alright, Pete. You know what time it is. Play my tune.

Pete grumbled as he fumbled with a small device.

Pete: Are you serious, kid?

Vanitas shot Pete a wicked grin.

Vanitas: First off, not a kid. Second, just do it.

Reluctantly, Pete pressed a button, and the speakers around the courtyard burst into life with music.

The track's upbeat, rhythmic tempo filled the air—a dance-pop tune that seemed completely out of place in the training grounds. The Coven Scouts and Guards exchanged confused glances, unsure if this was some kind of joke.

Vanitas: Alright, underlings! Come at me with maximum effort!

As the music began to build, he brandished his dark Keyblade, twirling it effortlessly with one hand, the rhythm syncing perfectly with his movements. He taunted his sparring partners, the first group of Coven Scouts, and then launched into action.

With every beat of the song, Vanitas moved in perfect synchronization. His attacks were fluid, almost graceful, as he danced through each opponent.

He then summons a small dark fireball and throws it, hitting a scout. The rest then fell in, ready to fight. Vanitas knocks out another scout with his Keyblade. A guard gets the side of his head kicked by Vanitas backward. He then low sweeps him. Vanitas swings his Keyblade and knocks down three other guards.

As the remaining opponents became cautious about how to proceed, Vanitas danced by making "come on" motions with both hands before he bent both knees, swung, and curled his arms in and out one after another.

The fight continues with Vanitas making a flirty gesture towards a female scout by pointing at her with a finger gun. He makes a gun-load sound effect, then booms with his mouth, shooting a small back heart-shaped projectile at her, making her flustered a bit before low-sweeping her.

He then turns around and whacks a guard across his face with his Keyblade three times in perfect synchrony with the music before kicking him away across the ground. Vanitas turns around to see another incoming guard, only for him to punch the guard away in the face.

Vanitas then quickly danced again by curling his left arm and robotically pushing it away from his face. He did the same with his right, bounced in place while pumping his fist, and motioned his right arm around him forward, using his hand to make a yapping mouth.

Doing a backflip, Vanitas turns to a scout, then flung his Keyblade at him, knocking him hard.

Pete groaned from the sidelines, his face in his hands.

Pete: *muttering* This is ridiculous. He's just as annoying as the other key brat.

Despite his grumbling, he didn't dare stop the music. Off to the side, Maleficent watched with narrowed eyes, her lips curled thinly. She leaned on her staff, baffled by Vanitas's antics.

Maleficent: Why is he like this?

It was clear that while Vanitas's strength was undeniable, she couldn't quite understand his sense of performance.

The Golden Guard, standing nearby, silently watched the display, arms crossed. Despite his usual composed demeanor, there was a flicker of amusement in his eyes. He wasn't about to admit it aloud but found Vanitas's flamboyant fighting style oddly entertaining. A smile tugged at the corners of his lips as Vanitas danced through the battle, knocking guards down one after the other.

Emperor Belos, perched on a balcony overlooking the courtyard, watched with his ever-present mask concealing his expression.

Belos: An eccentric one...but effective.

After a few minutes, the last of the guards collapsed, defeated. Vanitas, his breath barely labored, stood in the center of the courtyard, Keyblade resting on his shoulder. The music swelled for the final chorus, and instead of simply standing still, Vanitas continued to dance, reveling in his victory. He spun on his heels, sliding across the stone floor and finishing with a flourish as the song ended.

Pete let out a long, exasperated sigh as he shut off the music.

Pete: Finally.

Vanitas, unfazed by the opinions of those around him, smirked triumphantly and pointed his Keyblade toward the sky, basking in the glow of his own performance.

Vanitas: Now that's what I call style!

Maleficent: *shakes head* I swear, that boy gets stranger by the day.

The Golden Guard gave a small nod of approval, though he kept his thoughts to himself.

Belos, ever calm, raised a hand, signaling for Vanitas's attention.

Belos: Vanitas.

Vanitas turned, resting his Keyblade on his shoulder as he faced the Emperor.

Vanitas: Belos.

Belos's voice was steady, though his tone carried authority.

Belos: I have an assignment for you.

Vanitas's grin widened, his eyes gleaming with interest. He twirled his Keyblade once more before tossing it up, letting it vanish into darkness.

Vanitas: I'm listening.

LATER...

Vanitas and Belos were talking in the throne room. His smirk was still plastered on his face, and his hands were relaxed behind his head.

Vanitas: So, what's this about an assignment, Belos?

His voice dripped with casual confidence as Belos stopped at the foot of his throne, turning to face Vanitas with his ever-impassive gaze.

Belos: It seems we have a problem, Vanitas.

Vanitas: Oh? Do tell.

The Emperor turned his head slightly, signaling his assistant, Kikimora, who stood dutifully at the side of the throne.

Belos: Lilith and another subordinate appear to have defected, and no one knows their whereabouts.

Vanitas snorted, shaking his head.

Vanitas: Lilith? She ran away? That's rich.

He leaned against one of the columns, crossing his arms.

Vanitas: What's even better is that she's got someone tagging along. Who's the other deserter?

Belos's brow furrowed beneath his mask. He glanced toward Kikimora for the answer.

Kikimora: Steve, my lord.

Her eyes gleamed with a certain amusement.

Vanitas: Steve? Oh. I've heard of him. Word is he's supposedly Lilith's one and only friend here in your Coven. Either that, or they're secret lovers.

Standing a little taller now that her input had been acknowledged, Kikimora allowed herself a brief, snorted laughter. But Belos caught her and narrowed his gaze.

Belos: Kikimora, remain professional.

Kikimora immediately stiffened, her smirk vanishing as she quickly bowed her head.

Kikimora: Apologies, my lord.

Vanitas, however, gave her a side glance and grinned.

Vanitas: Forget about it. Anyway, the thought of Lilith and Steve scrambling off like rats...kind of makes this job more fun.

Belos didn't waver, his cold, unblinking stare locking on Vanitas.

Belos: Your task is simple: track and eliminate them by any means necessary. But, *raises finger* no evidence of collateral damage. Leave no trace except for their deaths. Do you understand?

Vanitas's grin widened, his fingers itching to summon his Keyblade again.

Vanitas: Of course. About time I got some action outside the castle.

Belos gave a slow nod.

Belos: Remember: No witnesses. No loose ends.

Unable to suppress her excitement this time, Kikimora giggled softly. She didn't bother hiding her delight at the thought of Lilith's demise. But before Belos could reprimand her again, Vanitas shot her a glance, one of playful amusement.

Vanitas: I don't blame you, Kikimora. Lilith had always been a pompous hag.

Kikimora smiled, though she kept it more controlled this time.

Kikimora: I merely serve the Emperor's will. But yes, Lilith has been…insufferable.

Vanitas chuckled, his eyes gleaming with anticipation under his mask.

Vanitas: Then, lucky us. By the time I'm done, Lilith will be long gone.

Just as he was about to turn and leave, Vanitas paused, a thought crossing his mind.

Vanitas: Oh, before I go, Kikimora... *glancing over his shoulder* You want a souvenir or something? Maybe a lock of Lilith's hair? Or, I dunno, her cloak?

Kikimora: *paused* Umm... Not her hair...

Her eyes then gleamed with dark amusement, but she kept her composure this time.

Kikimora: However, if Lilith has any money on her, take it. No need to let it go to waste.

Vanitas: Consider it done.

He turned back to Belos, his grin shifting into something more sinister.

Vanitas: Lilith's done, Belos. You won't have to worry about her once I'm done.

Belos: I don't doubt it, Vanitas.

Belos watched him go, saying nothing. As he left the throne room, a man on a mission, Vanitas's footsteps echoed through the halls. The dark Keyblade wielder was more than ready for the task, and the thought of getting rid of Lilith and Steve was just icing on the cake.

As he vanished into the shadows, Kikimora couldn't help but smile to herself. Belos, however, remained silent, deep in thought, as the pieces of his game slowly began to fall into place.

Back at the warehouse, everything was silent, the air thick with tension. The dim, broken windows allowed only slivers of moonlight to cast eerie shadows across the cracked concrete floor. Vanitas stood at the center of the vast, open space, his yellow eyes glowing ominously as he faced the group that opposed him. Behind him stood Pyron, Toxina, and Phoebe, now as Heartless.

Across the room stood Sora, Keyblade at the ready, his demeanor steely and focused. Beside him was Luz, her own Keyblade gripped tightly in her hands, the weight of the moment setting in. Eda, Lilith, and Steve, each with their staffs raised, completed the formation, their magic simmering in the air, waiting to be unleashed.

The two sides locked eyes, the silence almost unbearable.

Vanitas broke it with a twisted grin. His voice dripped with mocking glee as he focused his attention on Lilith. Her face tightened, her grip on her staff firm as she prepared for the inevitable.

Without warning, both sides charged forward, the warehouse erupting into chaos.

Luz sprinted toward Pyron, her Keyblade gleaming in the pale light. The radiating with heat, Pyron flicked his hand and summoned a whip of fire that lashed out toward her. Luz dodged with a roll, feeling the intense heat barely missing her. She swung her Keyblade upward, aiming for Pyron's midsection, but he spun out of the way, flames flaring from his body.

He unleashed a torrent of fire in her direction, but Luz was quick, using her Keyblade to deflect the flames.

Luz: Woah! Close call.

With quick reflex, Luz drew out an ice glyph card, cast it under her feet, and created an icy platform to launch herself into the air. She hurled her Keyblade downward from above, charging it with magic as it spun toward Pyron like a missile.

Pyron roared, raising his arms and summoning a wall of fire to shield himself. The two clashed in a violent burst of flames and light.

Toxina moved with an eerie grace, the blades of grass extending from her hands like lethal scythes. Steve held his staff firmly, his eyes locked on his opponent, waiting for her to strike.

Toxina lunged at him, her grass blades cutting through the air with a deadly hiss. Steve barely managed to block her first swipe with a protective shield of magic, but she was relentless, her attacks flowing like water, one after the other. With a grunt of effort, Steve pushed back with his magic, creating a whirlwind of gusts that sent Toxina staggering.

Steve: You're faster than you look.

Toxina moved again, this time slashing at his legs. Steve jumped back and countered with magic, but Toxina twisted her body, dodging with inhuman flexibility, her blades still striking at him.

Sora and Phoebe circled each other. Phoebe's wolf-like form crouched low, and her glowing yellow eyes never left him. She growled, her claws extending, sharp, and ready. Sora's Keyblade was raised defensively, but his gaze was steady.

Phoebe made the first move, leaping at him with terrifying speed. Sora sidestepped, bringing his Keyblade up just in time to block her slash. She snarled, spinning on her heel to deliver a brutal backhand swipe, but Sora ducked and countered with his own quick upward slash, grazing her side.

She howled in anger and swung wildly at him, her claws creating sparks as they collided with his Keyblade. The two clashed repeatedly, each blow more ferocious than the last. Sora's feet slid back under the force of Phoebe's attacks, but he stood his ground.

Sora: Huh. You must've given Nevareth a run for his money... Before he beat you, that is.

She lunged at him again, claws raised, but this time Sora was ready. With a quick flourish, he summoned a burst of light, momentarily blinding her. Taking the opportunity, Sora spun his Keyblade and struck her hard across the chest, sending her crashing into the wall.

Vanitas stood in the center of the chaos, his scythe twirling in his hand as he faced off against Eda and Lilith. He seemed unfazed by the numbers, a smug smile playing on his lips.

Vanitas: Lucky me. I get two ladies all to myself.

Eda: Get bent, freak!

Eda wasted no time, launching a barrage of magical blasts from her staff. Vanitas sidestepped them easily, spinning gracefully as he twirled his scythe like a dancer in a deadly ballet. Lilith, eyes narrowed in concentration, flanked him from the side, her own spells crackling with energy.

Vanitas blocked her attacks by casting Dark Barrier, parrying her strikes effortlessly.

Vanitas: *mocking* This would be more fun if you two weren't so predictable.

Eda snarled, slamming her staff into the ground and summoning a wave of magic that surged toward him. Vanitas leaped into the air, flipping gracefully over the wave before landing behind Eda with cat-like precision. He swung his scythe toward her, but Lilith intervened, blocking the strike with her staff.

Vanitas: *laughed* This is the best you've got?

His movements became more aggressive, and his strikes became faster and more precise. Eda and Lilith struggled to keep up, the weight of his power pushing them back with every blow.

Vanitas: *grinning* What do you say we wrap this up, huh?

As he prepared for his final strike, the entire warehouse seemed to tremble under the sheer force of the battle. The outcome of this deadly encounter remained uncertain, but one thing was clear: Vanitas had no intention of showing mercy.

Luz darted around the warehouse, barely avoiding another fiery strike from Pyron. His flames crackled through the air like a whip, each burst getting closer and closer to her as she danced out of the way, struggling to find an opening.

With his body glowing like a furnace, Pyron raised his hand, summoning another wave of fire that surged across the ground, chasing Luz down.

She flipped over a fallen stack of crates, using them as temporary cover, but she could already feel the heat licking her heels. This guy's intense, she thought, breathing heavily. Her heart raced, her grip on her Keyblade tightening. Pyron's fire kept her at bay whenever she tried to close the gap between them. His heat was relentless, his attacks wild but powerful. Luz had to keep dodging, her mind racing for a strategy.

Luz: Argh! This is getting annoying! How can I— *gasp*

Luz suddenly remembered something. Wait a second... Her eyes widened as the thought hit her like a lightning bolt. Pyron reminded her of the Flame Core Heartless—both had bodies made of fire and when she faced them, she learned about their weakness.

They're weak to water and ice!

A spark of determination lit up in Luz's eyes as she jumped out from behind the crates, her Keyblade raised. Pyron cocked his head, seemingly amused by her sudden burst of confidence.

Luz: Here we go!

Holding her Keyblade high. She focused, channeling her magic through the blade, and with a flick of her wrist, she cast Blizzara.

A blast of icy wind and frost shot from her Keyblade, hurtling toward Pyron. His eyes widened in surprise, but it was too late— the cold magic collided with him head-on. Steam hissed from his body as the ice made contact, causing his flames to sputter and weaken.

Luz: *smirking* Too cold for ya?

Before Pyron could recover, Luz thrust her Keyblade forward again, summoning Watera. A powerful surge of water spiraled from her Keyblade, crashing into Pyron like a tidal wave. The fire Heartless staggered backward, his flames dimming as the water extinguished his heat.

Pyron growled, trying to reignite the flames around his hands, but the water kept dousing him. His once blazing form now looked like a weakened ember. Luz, seeing her chance, charged forward. She swung her Keyblade at Pyron, landing a solid hit on his midsection. He howled in pain, stumbling back further as his fire flickered weakly.

Luz: Time to chill out for good!

Luz cast Blizzara again. This time, shards of ice exploded from her Keyblade, bombarding Pyron with freezing cold. His body, already drenched from the water, was now encased in patches of ice.

Pyron groaned, his movements slowing as the ice and water took their toll. He snarled through gritted teeth, trying to reignite himself again, but Luz wasn't giving him room to recover.

She struck again, her Keyblade cutting through the air, delivering another decisive blow. Pyron collapsed to his knees, his fire barely more than a flicker. Steam rose from his body as the combination of ice and water drained the last of his strength.

Luz stood over him, her Keyblade still raised but her breathing steady.

Luz: Looks like you're burned out.

With one final strike from Luz, Pyron's flames sputtered out entirely, and the Heartless dissolved into dark mist, leaving nothing but silence in the air. Luz lowered her Keyblade, exhaling in relief.

Luz: *sigh* Finally done.

Steve stood across from Toxina, sweat beading on his brow as he watched her closely. Toxina moved like a deadly predator, her grass blades glinting in the dim light of the warehouse. Every swing of her blades was calculated and precise to slice through Steve's defenses. He had managed to keep up so far, using his staff to block and parry her attacks, but it was clear that they were evenly matched in terms of raw skill.

She twirled her grass blades gracefully before lunging at Steve with quick strikes. Steve spun his staff, barely managing to deflect each of her slashes.

Steve: Yeesh. Persistent this one.

They practically danced around each other in a fast-paced exchange of attacks and blocks, their battle echoing in the massive, abandoned space. Each time Steve attempted to cast a spell, Toxina was already there, slicing through the air before he could finish the incantation.

Toxina's eyes gleamed as if she felt cruel amusement as she landed another blow on Steve's staff, forcing him to step back.

Steve gritted his teeth, thinking that if the fight dragged on further, he might not last much longer. But Steve wasn't about to let Toxina get the upper hand. He wasn't just any scout, after all. Thanks to his status within the Emperor's Coven, he had access to magic beyond the usual limits of most witches. And it was time to get creative.

A thought sparked in his mind. The Emperor's Coven didn't restrict him to one type of magic like the other covens did. Realizing this, a smile slowly formed on his face.

Toxina tilted her head in confusion. Steve twirled his staff confidently, his earlier fatigue seemingly gone.

Steve: Curious? Don't worry. You'll find out.

Without warning, Steve slammed his staff into the ground, and the air around him shimmered as he summoned fire magic. A powerful burst of flames erupted from beneath Toxina's feet. Her eyes widened in surprise, barely managing to leap away from the fire.

Steve didn't let up. Before she could regain her footing, he used plant magic, summoning thick vines from the ground that shot up and wrapped around Toxina's legs, holding her in place.

Toxina's eyes widened as she slashed at the vines, cutting herself free to dodge another wave of fire. Steve kept her on the defensive, easily switching between spells—first fire, then plant magic, then wind magic to send gusts howling in her direction, forcing her further back.

Toxina's smug expression faltered as Steve's unorthodox strategy threw her off balance. She lashed out with her grass blades, trying to close the gap between them, but Steve was ready. With a flick of his wrist, he used construction magic to create a stone wall from the floor, blocking her path. Toxina hissed in frustration and sliced through it, but Steve had already repositioned himself by the time she broke through.

Steve: Overwhelmed, are we?

Steve grinned, his confidence soaring as he cast a lightning spell that crackled through the air and zapped the ground near Toxina, forcing her to leap away again. As she gained distance, she glared at Steve.

Steve: Don't give me that look. It's called being resourceful. You're stuck with just your grass blades, but me? I've got options.

Toxina growled, her anger flaring as she swung her grass blades in a frenzy, trying to land a hit. Steve dodged, parried, and countered, using the environment and his arsenal of magic to stay one step ahead. With each new spell, Steve disrupted her rhythm, her once-flawless precision starting to falter.

Realizing he had the advantage now, Steve pressed on. He combined his magic, casting a water spell and following it up with a lightning bolt. The water doused Toxina's form, and the lightning struck a split second later, electrocuting her with a loud crack. She screamed in pain, her body twitching as the electricity coursed through her.

Staggering back, Toxina's grass blades flickered, dimming her once confident and deadly aura. Steve stood tall, his chest rising and falling with steady breaths as he pointed his staff at her. She charged at him one last time, desperate to land a final blow, but Steve wasn't having it. With a quick motion, he summoned another wave of vines, wrapping tightly around her arms and legs, lifting her off the ground, and suspending her in the air.

Steve: Time to end this.

With a final surge of magic, Steve sent a pulse through the vines, causing them to tighten and ultimately destroy Toxina's Heartless.

Steve wiped the sweat from his brow, finally allowing himself to relax.

Steve: It's over.

Sora gripped his Keyblade tightly as he faced off against Phoebe, the she-werewolf Heartless. Her golden eyes gleamed in the dim light of the warehouse, and she let out a low growl, her sharp claws scraping the floor as she circled him. Her feral movements were fast and aggressive, and with each strike, Sora could feel the raw strength she possessed. Their initial clash proved one thing—they were evenly matched regarding power.

Phoebe lunged at Sora, claws slashing through the air. He blocked her attack with his Keyblade, the force of her strike sending vibrations through his arms. Sora grunted as he pushed back, barely shoving her away before she came at him again with another swipe.

Sora: *panting* You've got some strength.

His eyes narrowed as he studied her movements.

Sora: But I'm not going down that easily!

Phoebe snarled, her werewolf form bristling with fury. She charged again, her claws aimed at his chest. Sora sidestepped just in time, bringing his Keyblade up to counter her next strike. They exchanged blows rapidly, sparks flying from each impact as they moved across the warehouse floor. Sora was fast, but Phoebe's brute force made it hard for him to gain the upper hand.

Sora slid backward after another powerful strike, his feet skidding across the ground. She's strong, but I need to be faster. If I keep relying on just strength, I'll never get past her defenses.

That's when it clicked. He had an ace up his sleeve—Flowmotion. Sora grinned to himself, tightening his grip on the Keyblade.

Sora: Alright, time to pick up the pace!

Sora kicked off from the ground with energy, using Flowmotion to propel himself into the air. His body glided effortlessly through the warehouse, bouncing off walls and structures with incredible speed and agility. He zipped around Phoebe, leaving her momentarily confused as she tried to track his movements.

Phoebe growled in frustration, swiping at the empty air as Sora blurred past her, moving too quickly for her to land a clean hit. Sora wasn't about to make that easy for her. He launched himself off a pillar, flipping over Phoebe's head and landing behind her. Before she could react, he darted around her in a blur, using his momentum to deliver rapid strikes from different angles, forcing her on the defensive.

Sora: What's wrong? Can't keep up?

Phoebe roared angrily, swinging wildly, but her frustration made her movements sloppy. Sora could see the openings in her attacks now. She was fast, but he was faster. With his Flowmotion ability, he could dodge and weave around her claws, using the environment to his advantage. Every time she tried to pin him down, he was already gone, bouncing off walls, beams, and crates, attacking from unexpected angles.

Phoebe snarled, spinning around to slash at him again, but Sora had already anticipated her move. He leaped into the air, his Keyblade glowing with power.

Sora: Thundera!

Bolts of lightning surged from the tip of his Keyblade, striking Phoebe head-on. She yelped in pain as the electricity crackled through her body, stunning her. Her movements became sluggish as the lightning coursed through her, leaving her vulnerable.

Sora: Here we go!

With a burst of speed, he charged at Phoebe, his Keyblade glowing brightly. In one swift motion, he slashed diagonally across her chest, his blade cutting through the air with precision and force.

Phoebe howled in agony, stumbling backward as the power of the strike overwhelmed her. Dark smoke began to rise from the wound, and her werewolf form flickered, her strength rapidly fading. Sora landed gracefully after the slash, spinning his Keyblade before lowering it to his side.

Phoebe dropped to one knee, her body trembling as the darkness consumed her. Glaring up at Sora, her golden eyes dimming, she growled weakly before dissolving into dark mist, vanishing into the void like the Heartless she was.

Sora stood there for a moment, catching his breath. He wiped the sweat from his brow, glancing around the battlefield. He could see Luz and Steve still engaged in their fights, but he had won his.

Sora: Alright!

He grins, giving his Keyblade a triumphant spin. He knew the battle wasn't over yet, but with Phoebe out of the way, he was ready to help his friends take down the rest of Vanitas's elite Heartless.

Vanitas gripped his scythe with one hand, twirling it with an effortless grace as he blocked another combined attack from Eda and Lilith. The scythe's sharp blade whistled through the air, parrying the sisters' spells and strikes with ease. He moved rapidly, his dark aura swirling around him like a storm. Eda's staff swung toward him, but Vanitas deflected it with a quick flick of his weapon, sending her stumbling back.

Lilith followed up, casting a binding spell to trap him, but Vanitas was already anticipating it. He spun around, slicing through the magical tendrils as if they were nothing. His movements were fluid, almost elegant, as he danced around their attacks, his golden eyes gleaming with amusement beneath his helmet.

Vanitas: You two really thought you could take me? You're wasting your time.

Lilith's face was grim, but Eda gave him a cocky grin.

Eda: We're just getting started.

Vanitas lunged forward, swinging his scythe in a wide arc. Both sisters jumped back, avoiding the deadly blade, but Vanitas was relentless. He pressed his attack, forcing them on the defensive. Each strike of his scythe crackled with dark energy, and with every swing, it became more and more apparent just how far above their level Vanitas truly was.

But then, something caught his attention. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something was off. His elite Heartless were gone—defeated. Sora, Luz, and Steve had managed to take down Pyron, Toxina, and Phoebe. He clicked his tongue in annoyance, his scythe pausing mid-swing.

Eda seized the moment, jumping back and taunting him.

Eda: Looks like your little team's gone! It's just you against all of us now. You might wanna think about giving up while you still can!

Vanitas narrowed his eyes, his lips curling into a sneer.

Vanitas: Give up? Please.

He straightened, his scythe resting over his shoulder as he shot Eda a venomous glare.

Vanitas: It's like you said, Eda. We're just getting started.

Eda's grin widened.

Eda: Well, come on then. What are you waiting for?

For a moment, Vanitas stood still, considering the challenge. Then, a dark smile twisted his face.

Vanitas: THIS!

Without warning, Vanitas thrust his hand into the air, dark energy crackling around his fingers. The ground beneath them began to rumble, and multiple creatures emerged from the shadows.

They're seen as humanoids with blue skin. Their hands are silver and end in three-fingered claws. Their heads are diamond-shaped and sport two short horns on either side. Their red eyes are set in a sorrowful expression, and familiar symbols of Sora, Luz, and Eda are emblazoned on their chests.

The creatures screeched as they surrounded Sora, Luz, Steve, and Eda.

Steve/Lilith: More heartless?!

Sora: No. They're Unversed.

Eda: Beings made of pure negativity.

Luz: And there's a lot of them!

Luz gripped her staff tightly, her face determined but wary as the Unversed began to close in.

Steve: Great. Just what we needed.

Vanitas laughed as he watched the group react, his scythe gleaming in the faint light of the warehouse.

Vanitas: That's right. They don't look like much on their own. But in large groups, these Scrappers can get a job done. Enjoy your little playmates. I've got more important matters to attend to.

He turned his gaze to Lilith, his expression darkening.

Vanitas: Lilith… you've run long enough. I'll deal with Steve and the others later, but now It's time you die, here and now!

Lilith's heart pounded in her chest as Vanitas focused solely on her. She gripped her staff, trying to steady herself, but Vanitas was relentless. He stalked toward her, his scythe dragging on the ground, sparking with dark energy as he prepared to finish her.

Eda stepped in front of her sister, her eyes burning with defiance.

Eda: You'll have to go through me first!

Vanitas: *grins wickedly* Gladly!

The battle erupted again, but Vanitas was far more focused this time. His scythe swiftly cut through the air, and the Scrappers swarmed the others, keeping them too busy to help. Despite the odds, Vanitas remained calm and confident, knowing he had the upper hand. He would make sure Lilith didn't leave this place alive.

The battlefield was a chaotic swirl of magic, Unversed, and Keyblade strikes. Sora, Luz, and Steve moved swiftly, their teamwork seamless as they fought off the wave of Scrapper Unversed that surrounded them. Sora led the charge, his Keyblade cutting through the dark creatures with swift, powerful slashes. Luz and Steve followed his lead, casting spells to freeze and blast the creatures away while Steve skillfully used his access to magic to trap, bind, and crush the Scrappers.

Steve: These things just keep coming!

He smashes one of the Unversed into the ground with a blast of earth magic.

Luz, panting from the effort, nodded.

Luz: But we've got this. Just keep pushing!

Sora grinned, slashing through another wave of Scrappers.

Sora: Let's clear them out together. Are you ready?

Luz and Steve nodded, and together, they unleashed their combined strength. Sora leaped into the air, casting Aeroga to sweep a group of Scrappers off their feet, while Luz followed up with a powerful fireball spell, and Steve used lightning to strike down their end.

Meanwhile, Eda and Lilith fought with everything they had—Eda attacking with her wild, unpredictable style, while Lilith fought with her calculated precision. They made a strong pair, but Vanitas was still one step ahead. His scythe cut through the air with lethal force, blocking every spell and strike they threw at him. His grin never wavered, his golden eyes glowing with twisted amusement as he toyed with them.

Eda swung her staff toward him, her magic blazing, but Vanitas deflected it with a casual flick of his scythe. He sidestepped Lilith's attempt to bind him with a spell, spinning his scythe around to force them both back.

Vanitas: You're persistent. But this is pointless.

Eda spat on the ground, glaring at him.

Eda: Shut up and fight!

Vanitas: *chuckles darkly* Oh, I will.

He deflected another blast of magic from Lilith, his eyes narrowing with annoyance.

Vanitas: You know what? You're starting to get on my nerves.

Suddenly, Vanitas lashed out, spinning his scythe in a wide arc and slamming Lilith with the blade's flat. She was sent flying backward, crashing into the far wall of the warehouse with a pained grunt. Eda's eyes widened in shock as she turned to see her sister slumped against the wall, trying to regain her footing.

Eda: Lilith!

Before she could move to help Lilith, Vanitas was already upon her. He pointed his scythe at Eda, his voice low and dangerous.

Vanitas: You should die first, Eda.

Eda: *eyes narrowing* What makes you think I'm going down that easy?

Vanitas's smile widened, his tone cold and calculating.

Vanitas: While I know you can survive almost anything thanks to your curse, there's always one way to be sure.

His voice dropped, and his words dripped with venom.

Vanitas: I could cut out your heart and see if you'd survive THAT!

The warehouse fell silent. Eda froze, her eyes widening in disbelief at the horrifying suggestion. Sora, Luz, Steve, and even Lilith—still trying to regain her breath—were stunned. The shock of Vanitas's words sent a chill through the air.

Eda: Heh...like you could.

Vanitas's grin was nothing short of cruel.

Vanitas: Wanna bet?

Everyone else looked on in disbelief. Steve clenched his fists, readying himself to jump back into the fight. Luz's hands trembled slightly, gripping her staff. Sora's jaw tightened, his Keyblade glowing faintly in his hand.

Still leaning against the wall, Lilith tried to push herself up, her voice hoarse.

Lilith: Edalyn... don't listen to him. He's just trying to rattle you.

But Eda remained still, her eyes locked on Vanitas. The weight of his words pressed down on her, and for the first time in a long while, she felt a sense of real danger. Vanitas wasn't just a powerful opponent—he was vicious, merciless, and willing to cross any line.

Vanitas slowly raised his scythe, pointing it directly at Eda's chest. His grin widened as he spoke, his voice dripping with malice.

Vanitas: Let's find out, shall we?

Vanitas's dark scythe hummed with energy as he channeled his magic, conjuring thick, jagged stones from the ground beneath Eda. The stone restraints snapped around her wrists, legs, and abdomen, locking her in place with a crushing force. Eda struggled, but the stone bonds held her fast, draining her strength as Vanitas loomed over her, his scythe poised for the final strike.

Vanitas: THIS IS THE END FOR YOU, OWL LADY!

Vanitas roared, his voice echoing through the warehouse. His golden eyes burned with savage glee as he charged forward, scythe raised high, ready to deliver the fatal blow.

Across the room, Sora, Luz, and Steve had just finished off the last of the Scrapper Unversed. Sora slashed through the final one with a swift diagonal strike of his Keyblade while Luz blasted it with a Water spell to seal the deal. Steve, panting from the effort, wiped the sweat from his brow.

Steve: No!

Luz: Eda!

Luz's voice cracked with fear as she turned and saw the scene unfolding before them. Vanitas's scythe was about to come down on Eda, and they were too far away to stop him. Sora's heart raced as he saw Eda trapped, helpless.

Sora: Eda, hold on!

Sora broke into a desperate sprint. Luz followed closely, both of them calling out, their voices frantic as they tried to close the distance. Each had their weapons and magic building up.

But they weren't going to make it in time.

Vanitas let out a triumphant snarl, his scythe slicing downward with lethal intent. The cold, dark steel arced toward Eda's chest, and for a split second, it seemed like nothing could stop him.

But then, just as the blade was about to strike, a figure darted between Vanitas and Eda—Lilith.

Everyone in the room, including Vanitas, gasped collectively. His eyes widened in brief surprise as his scythe connected, cutting deeply across Lilith's chest. Blood splattered against the stone floor as Lilith staggered, her body shuddering from the force of the blow. Yet, despite the immense pain, she stood tall, shielding her sister.

Everyone else's eyes widen in absolute shock, especially Eda. She was not expecting Lilith, of all people, to shield her from such a deadly attack. After a moment of broken sputtering, Eda finally found her voice.

Eda: LILITH!
