Under the moonlit sky, Nemona stood near the cliff path leading down to a secluded beach along Poco Path, waiting in eager anticipation. The cool night breeze ruffled her hair as she glanced down toward the dark shore below. She could have waited until morning, but the idea of a late-night adventure, especially with Ash, the reigning Monarch, was too thrilling to pass up.

As she scanned the horizon, Nemona's heart leaped when she heard her name being called out. She spun around and grinned as Ash, with Pikachu perched on his shoulder, approached. The duo's familiar presence was comforting, and Nemona couldn't help but appreciate Ash's willingness to meet her so late.

"Hey, Ash!" Nemona greeted him with a wide smile, waving enthusiastically. "Thanks for coming!"

Ash returned her grin, though he was still puzzled about why Nemona had called him out here at such an odd hour. "No problem, but what's this strange noise you heard?"

Nemona's expression shifted to one of intrigue. "There's been something weird coming from the beach shore down there. It doesn't sound like any Pokémon I've heard before, and I thought, why not investigate it together? Who knows, we might discover something new!"

Ash raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "A strange noise, huh? Sounds like an adventure. What do you think, Pikachu?" he asked, glancing at his partner.

"Pika!" Pikachu nodded in agreement, eyes sparkling with excitement.

Nemona's eyes brightened at Ash's response, clearly pleased that he was on board. "I knew you'd be up for it! Let's check it out!" she said, leading the way.

Together, they began cautiously making their way down the narrow, rocky path toward the beach, the sounds of waves crashing against the shore growing louder with each step. The night added a sense of mystery to their adventure, as they both stayed alert, curious about what lay ahead.

"Stay close, Ash," Nemona teased with a playful smile. "Wouldn't want the big champion getting lost in the dark!"

Ash chuckled. "I think I'll be fine, Nemona. But thanks for looking out."

As they reached the bottom of the cliff, the strange noise that Nemona had described grew clearer—a low, rhythmic sound, almost like a chant, mingled with the sound of the ocean. Whatever it was, it was coming from just beyond the rocky shore. As Ash and Nemona cautiously approached the source of the strange noise, they were greeted by an unexpected sight. A pack of snarling Houndour had surrounded a Pokémon neither of them had seen before. It was a large, reptilian creature, its body covered mostly in scarlet feathers with striking white accents on its cheeks, upper body, thighs, and tail. But the feature that stood out the most was the tire-like sac around its throat, a design unlike anything Ash or Nemona had encountered before.

"Whoa, what kind of Pokémon is that?" Nemona gasped in amazement.

"I've never seen anything like it," Ash muttered, equally fascinated.

But there wasn't much time to marvel. The Pokémon, clearly exhausted and too weak to defend itself, was at the mercy of the aggressive Houndour pack. The predators closed in, barking and growling menacingly. Instinctively, Ash sprang into action, rushing toward the confrontation without hesitation.

"Come on, Pikachu! Let's help it out!" Ash called, drawing the attention of the snarling pack. The Houndours turned their angry glares toward him, ready to defend their claim.

"Pikachu, Thunderbolt!" Ash ordered with urgency.

"Pika...CHU!" Pikachu unleashed a powerful surge of electricity, lighting up the beach with its brilliant flash. The attack sent the Houndours scattering, yelping in fear as they retreated into a nearby beach cave, leaving the mysterious Pokémon behind.

With the immediate threat gone, Ash cautiously approached the new Pokémon, holding his hands out in a gesture of reassurance. "Hey, don't worry. You're safe now," he said softly, trying not to startle the weakened creature.

The Pokémon lifted its head slightly and stared at him with tired eyes. Despite its impressive size and features, it looked completely drained. Then, almost comically, its stomach growled loudly, breaking the tense atmosphere.

Ash blinked, realizing what the problem was. "You're hungry, aren't you?" he asked, a smile tugging at his lips.

Nemona caught up and knelt beside Ash. "Do you have anything we can give it?"

Ash scratched his head for a moment, then remembered the sandwich he had made earlier that day in Mr. Saguaro's Home EC class. He quickly pulled it out from his bag. "It's not much, but this should help!"

He held the sandwich out toward Koraidon, encouraging it to eat. The Pokémon hesitated for a moment, sniffing the food cautiously before gulping it down in one big bite—so fast that Ash almost lost his hand in the process.

"Whoa!" Ash exclaimed, stumbling backward in surprise.

Nemona rushed to his side. "Ash! Are you okay?"

Ash chuckled, waving her off. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just wasn't expecting it to be so... enthusiastic." Pikachu shook its head in disbelief at the situation, though a smile crept across its face.

As Koraidon finished licking its lips, something incredible happened. The once-exhausted creature suddenly seemed revitalized, its form shifting dramatically. Scarlet feathers bristled, muscles tensed, and Koraidon transformed into its battle mode, a fiercer and more imposing version of itself. Its gular sac expanded, making it appear even more intimidating, as it let out a loud, reverberating cry.

Ash and Nemona stared in awe at the transformation.

"Incredible..." Nemona breathed, her eyes shining with excitement. "What kind of Pokémon is this?"

Ash couldn't tear his eyes away from Koraidon, amazed by the sudden change. "I have no idea," he replied, a grin spreading across his face. "But I think we just made a new friend."

As Koraidon glanced back at Ash and Nemona, it motioned toward the cave where the Houndour had fled. Ash, picking up on the silent cue, stepped forward with a determined nod. "I think it wants us to follow," he said.

Nemona blinked, puzzled. "Follow it... into the cave? Why would it want us to go there?"

Ash shrugged but smiled confidently. "I've got a feeling we'll find out if we do." Pikachu, perched on his shoulder, gave a reassuring "Pika!" in agreement.

After a moment's hesitation, Nemona agreed, and together, the two Trainers followed Koraidon into the dark, winding cave.

...

The Pokémon led the way into Inlet Grotto, with Ash and Nemona staying close behind, their eyes scanning the unfamiliar cave surroundings. The dim lighting created eerie shadows, and the atmosphere was cool and damp. For both, it was an exciting—if somewhat unnerving—first cave exploration together. As they ventured deeper, Ash and Nemona noticed patches of strange green material growing along the cave walls. At first, they thought it might just be moss, but something about it seemed... different, almost otherworldly. Still, they didn't dwell on it for long, as their focus remained on following Koraidon through the narrow passages.

Suddenly, the path ahead was blocked by a pile of large, jagged rocks. Koraidon, however, effortlessly cleared the obstruction, smashing through the rocks with its powerful body, leaving Ash and Nemona impressed.

"Wow, it's really strong!" Nemona marveled, her eyes wide.

Ash nodded in agreement, grinning. "Yeah, no kidding. This thing's incredible!"

As they continued, the group emerged into a wider chamber of the cave—only to be met with a familiar and hostile sight. The pack of Houndour from earlier was back, but this time, they had brought reinforcements. Leading them was a massive, intimidating Houndoom, its eyes glowing as it growled menacingly at the intruders.

"Looks like they brought the boss!" Ash said, stepping forward as Pikachu sparked in preparation for a battle.

Nemona clenched her fists, ready for action. "This could get tough," she muttered, but her competitive spirit burned bright. "But I'm ready if you are!"

As both Trainers prepared to defend themselves, Koraidon let out a low growl and attempted to scare off the Houndour pack with a thunderous roar. For a moment, it looked like the Houndours would retreat, but the Houndoom barked out a command, summoning another pack of Houndours from deeper within the cave. The group was now surrounded, and the situation had quickly escalated.

Koraidon glanced back at Ash and Nemona, sensing the danger. It made a split-second decision. Before either Trainer could react, Koraidon tossed both Ash and Nemona onto its back, surprising them with its sheer strength and speed.

"Whoa, wait—!" Ash started, but his words were cut off as Koraidon leaped into action.

With Pikachu scooped up safely in its arms, Koraidon began bounding upward, jumping from rocky platform to platform, its powerful legs carrying it effortlessly up the steep cliffs of the cave's interior. Ash and Nemona clung tightly to Koraidon, hanging on for dear life as the Pokémon made each leap with precision and force. Nemona gasped each time they ascended higher, her heart pounding from the adrenaline.

"Okay, this is insane!" she shouted, half-laughing in excitement and half in terror.

Ash could only grin as they shot up the cave, though he held on just as tightly as Nemona. "This is awesome!"

Meanwhile, the Houndoom and its pack barked angrily from below, but they were too late. Koraidon's incredible agility had already carried them far beyond the reach of the snarling pack. With one final, mighty leap, Koraidon reached the cave's exit and landed safely on solid ground outside, under the starry night sky.

Ash and Nemona finally caught their breath as Koraidon set them down gently. Pikachu hopped back onto Ash's shoulder, looking equally relieved.

"That was... amazing!" Nemona exclaimed, her face beaming with excitement. "What a ride!"

Ash nodded, his heart still racing from the thrill. "Yeah, it really saved us back there."

As Koraidon let out a deep growl, its body shifted once again, reverting back to its original, less powerful form. Both Ash and Nemona jumped in surprise as the Pokémon stumbled before collapsing onto the ground, clearly exhausted.

Nemona crouched beside it. "Do you think it's hungry again?" she asked, glancing over at Ash.

Ash rubbed his chin, pondering. "Could be… it's like it used up all its energy just now." Pikachu looked down at Koraidon and gave a soft "Pika…" in sympathy.

Before they could think of another solution, Koraidon's eyes locked onto something in the distance. Following its gaze, Ash and Nemona spotted a familiar lighthouse not too far away. But that wasn't all—standing near the base of the lighthouse was someone they recognized: Arven.

Suddenly, Koraidon's energy returned, and it sprang to its feet. With surprising speed, it dashed towards the lighthouse, leaving Ash and Nemona momentarily stunned.

"Wait, what's it doing?" Nemona exclaimed, getting to her feet.

Ash pondered. "No idea, but let's find out!"

Nemona nodded, and the two quickly followed, chasing after the eager Koraidon. As they neared the lighthouse, they could see Arven watching Koraidon approach with a mix of surprise and annoyance on his face.

"Why that little..." Arven grumbled under his breath as frustration etched on his face as he stormed up to Koraidon. "What are you doing out here?!" he barked, startling the exhausted Pokémon.

Ash and Nemona exchanged puzzled glances before Nemona spoke up. "Wait a minute... you're Arven, right? And you know this Pokémon?" she asked.

Arven scoffed, shaking his head at the question. "Of course I do. This nuisance here is Koraidon," he muttered, shooting an annoyed glance at the Pokémon.

Ash's eyes widened in amazement. "Koraidon? I've never heard of a Pokémon with that name before," he said, awe in his voice.

Arven rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed. "You're the world champion, and you don't know a Legendary Pokémon when you see one?" he sneered, crossing his arms.

Nemona bristled at Arven's harsh tone, stepping forward in defense of Ash. "Hey, watch it! Just because Ash doesn't know about Koraidon doesn't mean you need to be rude about it!" she said, frowning.

But Arven simply ignored her, focusing his attention back on Koraidon. He sighed, exasperation clear in his voice. "I told you so many times that you shouldn't be out here. Why won't you listen?"

Koraidon just blinked up at Arven with innocent eyes, its tail swishing slightly. Ash couldn't help but wonder aloud, "Does Koraidon belong to you or something?"

Arven's expression soured even further. "No, it's not my Pokémon," he snapped, waving his hand dismissively. "It's... complicated."

Nemona crossed her arms, her brow furrowed. "Then why do you care so much about it if it's not yours?"

Once again, Arven dismissed her, repeating, "I told you...It's complicated." His gaze lingered on Koraidon, softening ever so slightly, but he kept his emotions guarded, leaving both Ash and Nemona more curious than ever about the mysterious bond between him and Koraidon.

Ash scratched his head, unsure of how to respond to Arven's vague explanation. "Well, complicated or not, it looks like Koraidon trusts you."

Arven didn't reply. However, his eyes lit up with an idea as he glanced back at Ash, a smirk playing on his lips. "So... you think you can be Koraidon's new friend, huh?" he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "How about I test your skills to see if you're worthy, then? What do you say, world champion?"

Ash's interest was instantly piqued. "A battle, huh?" he asked, his competitive spirit flaring.

Arven nodded, crossing his arms confidently. "Yeah. If you're as good as they say, show me. The winner will get to be Koraidon's Trainer."

Nemona, who had been listening eagerly, suddenly felt a pang of disappointment. She had wanted the chance to be Koraidon's Trainer too, but her eyes sparkled with excitement as she turned to Ash. "Ah, I was hoping to bond with Koraidon, but you know what, Ash?" She grinned, "I'll be rooting for you! Win this, and maybe I can get a chance to battle you and Koraidon!"

Ash smiled at Nemona's support. "Alright then, Arven, let's do this!"

Moments later...

Ash and Arven stood across from each other as Nemona watched excitedly from the sidelines with Koraidon by her side. Arven tossed out his Poké Ball, revealing a Pokémon native to Paldea that Ash hadn't encountered before: Skwovet, a small squirrel-like creature with grayish-brown fur and a bushy tail.

"What Pokémon is that?" he wondered but he quickly dismissed it as he was ready for the battle. "Alright, Pikachu. I choose you!"

Pikachu leaped off his shoulder with sparks crackling from its cheeks, ready for action.

Arven started things off. "Skwovet, use Tackle!"

The small Pokémon charged forward with all its might, but Pikachu easily dodged with its speed.

Ash saw an opening. "Quick Attack, Pikachu!"

In a flash, Pikachu struck Skwovet, sending the little Pokémon flying into a nearby tree. The impact knocked Skwovet out instantly. Arven stood in disbelief, clearly not expecting the battle to end so quickly. He muttered under his breath, "That's my only Pokémon... and I just caught it." With a heavy sigh, Arven returned Skwovet to its Poké Ball and trudged toward Ash, pulling out an old, weathered Poké Ball. "Here," he said, handing it over to Ash with a mixture of reluctance and acceptance.

Ash glanced at the ball in his hand, then looked back up at Arven, surprised. "Are you sure about this?"

Arven dismissed Ash's concern with a shrug. "Just keep Koraidon out of trouble," he said with a hint of frustration, before turning and walking off without another word.

As Arven left, Nemona and Koraidon approached Ash. Nemona clapped her hands together, beaming with excitement. "Congrats, Ash! You're officially Koraidon's Trainer now! Although... I'm a little jealous," she added, smirking playfully.

Ash chuckled at Nemona's comment, his eyes now focused on Koraidon. He held out the Poké Ball to the Legendary Pokémon. "Looks like we're partners now, Koraidon."

Koraidon let out a satisfied growl, showing no resistance to the idea. It nudged Ash's hand with its snout affectionately, clearly happy with its new Trainer.
